New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

Good luck with scan crystyll :)

Remember to ask them not to tell you the sex unless you want to or already know!!

RunningKatie · 04/01/2011 11:41

Morning all

This feels like the first proper day of maternity leave. :)

Thus far, I've thrown up the birthday cake I ate last night, been for a swim, to the library and am packing away the Christmas decorations.

Is anyone else monitoring all movements, toilet trips etc. and wondering if things are a sign? Last night after we got in I had 3 spoons of gaviscon, but mild pain and backache, upset tummy etc. There's potentially got weeks of this to drive DP mad about as the poor guy is works from home, I think he might wish he was office based before too long!

jjkm, good to hear the twins are getting stronger.
Good luck with the scan Crystylline

Crystylline · 04/01/2011 12:10

guess who realised (in time) that she was actually due at the midwife's and not the hospital today??

Bloody Baby Brain

hospital is tomorrow. MW is later today.

Bubba it's a little boy - I asked at my 20 week scan and there was no denying it... Grin

Katie - yup, any slightly different change in mine or bump's behaviour/movements etc results in mad searches on MN or reading pregnancy books.

I'm driving myself mad. my poor MW is going to get the spanish inquisition from me later, as I'm terrible at not knowing/understanding everything my body is doing. Fortunately, she's got about 25 years experience (read tolerance) of bird-brained 1st timers like me and is very patient.

RockLover · 04/01/2011 12:31

I don't bother monitoring changes in baby movements/my bowel upsets/pains etc simply because nothing like that happened with my first DC.

I am prone to upset tummies as I am taking iron tablets and I have ibs, baby tends to have slow days and vigorous days for no apparent reason. I didn't get any BH with dd and I haven't so far with this one either.

The only sign I had last time is that I was sent into hospital for monitoring because of high blood pressure. All was fine and I was sent home, then I went into (slow) labour when I woke at 7am the next morning. I have since found out that high blood pressure can be a good indicator of imminent labour.

I am due on the 27th and I don't expect this little one to make an appearance before then as dd was a week late.

The only different thing that I have noticed in the last week (sorry if TMI) is that my CM has increased and I am now having to wear pads to save my clothes. It's deffo not my waters as not thin enough or the right colour, so I reckon I'm in for the long haul.

CupcakesHay · 04/01/2011 13:04

I'm not monitoring but only cos it's all been so up in the air with me lately that i cna't see the point - plus baby is not comigntil DH in devon!!!! Grin

I managed to sleep in bed last night - propped up - but getting up to go to loo evey 2 hours was AGONY - stupid pulled muscle. Still managed to get about 6 hours sleep. WishI could lie down though as my feet are still swollen.

crystylline love the baby brain comment!

My parents have gone out shopping so i have TV tomyself - so i'm watching glee and baby is kicking away. If he comes out singing show tunes I won't be surprisd!

Still waiting for my car seat to be delivered and my poxy nighties to give birth in! One of my friends sent me 12 things to think about before labour - quite useful list of things suchas "listen to m/wife" etc. mae me feel bit more calm reading it.

roch am i being thick... what's CM?

And running you are soooooo active you put me to shame - even with your throwing up of birthday cake!

CupcakesHay · 04/01/2011 13:05

PS. Aaaarrrgh - on my dad's laptop that has sticky keyboard so apologies for more than usual stupid typos in above message!

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 13:14

Cupcakes- where have you found the nighties to give birth in?

I'm tempted to pinch a large shirt from DP but I threw away a load of his shirts a few months ago so he only has good ones that he likes left in his wardrobe. Blush

RockLover · 04/01/2011 13:15

Cervical Mucous...well you did ask! Grin

Pregnancy is sooo gross!

CupcakesHay · 04/01/2011 13:22

Thanks Rock!{grin]

And I got 2 cheaply from simply be - but ordered them 5th Dec - and still awaiting stock - i emailled the company and they said should be with me this week!

RockLover · 04/01/2011 13:27

I have found a cheapie (£6) nightshirt online from Peacocks, so think I'll buy a couple of those to labour in.

LadyBubbaAndBump · 04/01/2011 13:38

Stick a leaky biro in the pocket of one of his new shirts gallicgirl then, hey presto, it becomes an old shirt (evil Grin). Or you could just ask him if he minds - mine didn't at all and was touched that I wanted to wear something of his during the whole shabang.

CupcakesHay · 04/01/2011 13:55

Aaah - that's lovely bubba - just emailled company about my nighties again as they are in the sale now - so i don't think that bodes well. At this rate it'll be a t-shirt - but i'd quite like something that might cover my bum!

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 14:11

Bum coverage was my fear too :)

I could always use a work-issue shirt. Not very sexy but easy to get new ones and his are looking very shabby.

Fuzzywood · 04/01/2011 14:26

Blimey lots to catch up on, glad to hear those having monitoring are still doing well and sounds like positive news about the twins JJKM.
I have finally got around to packing my bag, still need something to give birth in and some food and drinks. Though last time i ended up starkers as I was in the bath and then the pool. Had these images beforehand of maintaining dignity and not being naked, at one point I was walking down the coridoor in the labour suite just wrapped in a sheet. Also I was having no-one else in the room apart from the midwife and ended up with a student doctor as well and another midwife who was bored as no-one else was there. Good job in the end though as I got cramp in my leg so student docs job was to massage my leg whilst in the pushing stage. So much dignity Blush
Had a MW appointment this morning, bump is on the large side again having not grown much a few weeks ago. She thinks its 2/5 engaged but as its so active she's worried it might flip itself to become breech so need to keep an eye on it. Getting quite a lot of BH here as well but trying not to get my hopes up that it will arrive anytime soon.
Could really do with this baby arriving soon though as feeling horribly uncomfortable. Plus we have now decided on just one name for a boy and girl so we're ready for it now!

RockLover · 04/01/2011 14:42

I must admit dd and I are still in pjs and have no intention of getting dressed at all today. It's dd's last day off before school tomorrow so I said she could do whatever she liked, so she'd decided on a pj and dvd day in her bedroom.

I have done the washing up and cleaned kitchen up (a bit lol), 2 loads of washing, tumble drying and I have the rest of the baby clothes to wash which I will be doing the rest of the day. I have just sat down for lunch (I'm whacked already) before I start preparing dinner as we are having roast chicken.

I've have also been taking as much Spatone as possible and will take my iron tablet after dinner. Feeling a bit sicky now, so I think I'll have a rest for a little while.

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 14:54

PJs are ace Grin Well done RockLover for washing up and cleaning. I still need to do that and start making dinner.

I'm waiting on a phone call from the hospital to arrange an appointment for ECV. I was told they would call this morning but when I called them at 12 I was told the request was pending as they were a bit short of doctors. It's now 3 hours later and still no phone call. Do you think I should call the hospital again to chivvy them along?

LadyBuzz · 04/01/2011 15:05

rock sounds like a fab day!

DS1 is at school tomorrow, DS2 at nursery and SIL coming to clean - I'm going to the hairdressers Grin.

I'm completely exhausted now - roll on 2 weeks today!

DH just called to ask if I minded him working all weekend - Well yes actually I do, its night shift and could be miles and miles away. IF I did go into labour there would be no way they would bring him home so I think i'm within my rights to ask him not to!!
I've never gone into spontaneous labour before BUT he would be devastated if he missed this birth!

I always said my first baby would be 2 weeks early, tiny and a girl, he was nearly 3 weeks late massive and a boy but I might be right this time Wink

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 15:11

I think working all weekend is a bit much if you already have 2 kids to look after and he wouldn't be able to get home easily.

Good luck with the girl option.

LadyBuzz · 04/01/2011 15:18

she better be a girl, she has a zebra print nursery and ALOT of dresses Grin

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 15:25

Oh, I didn't realise you knew already. I'm sure it's right then and congratulations.

Crystylline · 04/01/2011 15:27

... well if everyone's putting on PJs and watching DVDs, I may have to join you!

just got back from midwife's. Head engaged (2/5) and the right way up. birth plan all done (water birth ideally). all tests ok.

just got to go for monitoring and scan tomorrow at hospital.

all good so far though.

lady buzz sounds completely reasonable to ask hubby not work away at weekend - perhaps he hadn't thought it through properly before he asked. I find men do suffer v. badly from Foot and Mouth. Grin

gallicgirl yes, I'd phone the hospital back! When I was on the ward a couple of weeks ago, they forgot me for nearly 5 hours and I had to remind them twice! (grumble, grumble) I know it's because they are v. busy, but no harm in calling and asking them to let you know when they can fix the appt for. Hope it all goes OK.

and yippee! My Sainsbury's voucher from the MN Christmas Comps is due to arrive tomorrow. Huzzah! Can go and splurge on clothes, baby things and yummy food.

RockLover · 04/01/2011 15:33

Yep, it's been quite a nice day so far, despite feeling knackered lol.

I have just put yet another baby clothes wash on and still have another one to go. And that's leaving out the 3-6 months clothes which I'm not going to bother washing for a while yet. It's literally baby clothes central here, I have been give sooooo much stuff that I haven't had to buy anything.

The sonographer better have been right at the 20 wks scan and we get a little boy or I'm going to be doing ALOT of post birth shopping!!!

I now need to buy some cotbed sheets and moses basket sheets. My dsis is giving me a moses basket (her son is 11 months), I'm still deliberating whether I need to buy a new mattress for it. What do you ladies reckon?

RockLover · 04/01/2011 15:33

given*

LadyBuzz · 04/01/2011 15:41

Thanks gallicgirl Smile i'm most excited after 2 boys! and yes I also think you should remind the hospital they have a tendancy to forget things! Good Luck with the ECV!

rocklover if both our scans are wrong we can swap Grin

Re the moses basket, I got my cousins and didn't bother with a new mattress - in fact I am about to use the same one now on DC3. They are in them so little a time I wasn't fussed. I think so far ours has been used for 4 months over 3 babies! If its from your DSIS it should be OK.

ZippyPippy · 04/01/2011 15:42

Horray no work for me either today!! Good to see lots of you lazing around! I felt so smug this morning thinking of everyone at the office Grin.

Saw midwife today, all good, baby's head 3/5 engaged apparently (though I really don't know how she can tell, especially as she thought the baby was breech last time and it wasn't!) I don't need to go back for 2 weeks apparently when it will be nearly due day....
