Rollercoasteryears · 31/10/2010 19:47

Iheart you poor thing - how utterly terrifying. No wonder you were completely shocked when she said there was a hearbeat, bet you couldn't quite believe it. Make sure you really do take it easy and I hope your DH is taking good care of you. Spend the next couple of days on the sofa recovering (both physically and emotionally) if you can! FX the bleeding has all but finished now...

IheartRPatz am sobbing having read recount of your horrible experience... the sob was at joy of little waving hand. Please take it incredibly easy for the next few days, you need time to recover and direct your energies to getting strong again.

Tinwe · 01/11/2010 07:36

Good morning everyone and hope you all had a good weekend. Apology this will be a huge post to catch up on everything I've read over the past few days but not had the energy to post on...

Sorry I've not been on for a while but have felt pretty rough and so have been sleeping much of the time or trying to squeeze jobs in I should have done INSTEAD of sleeping! I'm 14 weeks today but the tiredness definitely felt worse over the weekend... Went to buy candles for the wedding on Saturday with my future MIL and parked in a 1 hr space and was desperate to sit down by the time I got back. Was yawning all the time too. Wouldn't be so bad but I'd been resting all morning and slept about 12 hours the night before! Is this just being out of condition do you think, could I be sickening for something or a growth spurt or something else? I seem to struggle through the week at work on adrenaline, collapsing every night when I get through the door and then am useless all weekend. I'm desperate that this doesn't carry or I'll never make it through my wedding day in December, much less a hen weekend in November :(

Ok... Catch up time... Hello mslucy and hotbuttered toast, helenabing

Thanks loopymumsy for all the advice re home birth. So far I think it's definitely my preference but am still working on the rest of the family. Need to follow up more of your links (which I can't do on my phone) so that I'm better placed to -argue- discuss it with them :) How was Wales?

mummywilliams in answer to your question about our jobs, I'm an occupational therapist working in mental health* I love my job but it can be very brain taxing, especially as I'm acting up as service manager half the week. Do you get any opportunity to work from home in your job? How exciting to be feeling movements... How far on are you again? I keep wondering if I feel one now and again but the human body is so strange it could be almost anything!

pistachio how's the cold?

southpacificfish I've been very emotional lately, including crying that I AM with DP when if the fates had been different I might not have been and that would have been TERRIBLE (imagines him with another pregnant fiancé)... He has no idea how to answer THAT one! :o How did you nap at work, I'm very interested!?

thell have made a concerted effort to squeeze more regularly - thanks for the reminder :)

welshcakes great news about your scan! You're due just after me (2nd May). Sorry you're still sicky though- that's rubbish for you. Also congrats to widgeon, dragonmami, qwerty (your baby measures under half mine in length, although they're due the same month, strange the speed of growth at this stage isn't it?), doIreallywant, justtrying , kiwigirl' jbells ,

hotbuttered re dietary changes, I'm with you on the fruit, but have gone off vegetables, which is a bit of a problem being vegetarian. They all taste a bit bitter to me, in contrast I'm into bread and pasta which I'd gone off. Hope things change soon! sounds like a good party, I'm v jealous... Had to miss my DP's cousin's band performing on Sat as I was collapsed in bed asleep by about 7.30 ... How did you keep going?! When you mentioned that you smothered yourself in tzatziki after realizing the dress didn't fit, I thought you meant literally- I.e. To prevent stretch marks!

rollercoasteryears how exciting to be going through this with friends :) I have a friend who's expecting but she doesn't live nearby so we rarely see each other... At least there'll be two of us pregnant at the hen do! Good news that you're feeling better too :)

justtrying also not put on weight but needing mat clothes. zinnia I know what you mean about mat clothes being comfier! Been feeling a bit more sickly when wearing tight clothes, however all mat clothes i've bought so far off eBay are sooo unflattering and huge :( I used to buy clothes that showed my waist and were fitted though so I suppose I'll have to develop a different taste in clothes. I also bought myself some mamas and papas pants too like you... Very expensive but lovely clothes I discovered but was 30% off weekend :o

zinnia, rollercoasteryears and fijibaby fingers crossed the beans arrive earlier than your anniversaries so get a lovely present but get two celebration days :) How's your headache Fiji?

Congrats on the new job Iheart and so sorry to hear you had such a worrying time, great to hear all's well now though :)

Sorry if I've missed anyone off. Hope to post a little sooner next time, but will be keeping up with you all by reading your posts on my phone if not replying as it's hard to do that by phone. Hope everyone has a great week and there's lots more good news emerging this week too!

HotButteredToast · 01/11/2010 07:47

Very relieved, Iheart, to hear that all was well after such worried before. Sounds like a strong wee one growing inside you.
Now there's an idea, Tinwe. Tzatziki as a means of staving off the stretch marks...

QwertyQueen · 01/11/2010 08:52

IheartRPatz - what a scare.... I am so glad it is all OK now, you must have felt so awful during the scan :( worst nightmare for all of us.... definitely kick back and relax as much as possible... did they give you any reason it could have happened?

oh, also in response to your question mummywilliams, I am an interior designer - sounds more glamorous than it actually is. Would have loved to have done graphic design, actually. But at least it is something I can do by myself - don't HAVE to be part of a big machine.

I am "working" from home today, could not face the thought of going into the office (am my own boss but we share space with a bunch of other companies). So took myself to the nearest cafe and had poached eggs for breakfast whilst reading Heat.... the ultimate trashy, mind numbing, forget about reality read! I recommend it.

SUCH a beautiful day here today, so hopefully my spirits will lift soon, I am still feeling quite down, assuming it is just a hormonal thing....

IheartRPatz · 01/11/2010 08:54

No reason for the bleeding. They said the womb was closed and everything relating to the baby was intact, so they dont know why there was the bleed. Just the comments that bleeding can happen and it could happen again :(
My notes to take to the doctors called it a threatened miscarriage.

mslucy · 01/11/2010 14:07

Look after yourself IHeart

You have been through hell but you have seen the baby and know all is fine inside.

zinnia · 01/11/2010 15:03

Iheart what a horrendous experience. So glad all looking OK but how terrifying for you. Really hope you manage to relax and literally get your feet up, and have lots of tlc at home.

Qwerty interior designer is my dream job! Though actually I work in publishing (to answer your question MummyW), which can be quite interesting and can be quite dull. Like most jobs probably!

Amused by all the tzatziki talk, I'm always quite partial to hummous but lately have been totally addicted to it with toasted pitta bread. Bread has to be white (I'm usually a wholemeal girl) and hummous has to be M&S. Have also gone nuts for homemade pizza with figs & goats cheese (the OK for pg kind, natch). Yes, I know that's quite an esoteric craving, but someone gave me the recipe and it went from there.

Am impressed by all the HBers, was toying with it myself this time but as (a) it's highly likely we'll be renting somewhere and (b) I quite fancy the water (I know the two can go together very well, but what with (a) to contend with...) think I'll be back at the birth centre where I had dd.

I'm "working from home" too, was in the office this morning (late, after flu jab) then got a call from nursery to say poor dd had a temperature. She was fine this morning but not at all happy when picked her up. About 2 hrs into a nap now, wondering when I should wake her up...!

rollercoaster and fiji am just hoping can keep my legs crossed till after the wedding ann - dh and I have bit of a tradition of going away for the weekend, and as it's usually the bank holiday if can push dc2's birthday into the second week might get away with it... like I will have any control at all! Grin

Lol at Zinnia's posh cravings. Unfortunately my craving is junk food! Really... all I want is burgers, Nandos etc...
I think it is stuff that is easily digestable...
I don't usually do junk food much.
But I have been forcing myself to eat salads most nights, have to chop the ingredients up really thin / small in order to eat them tho - bizarre.

Working on a wine farm job at the moment which is really exciting but also far too stressful for the state I am in. I wonder if that is why I am feeling a bit down, because my focus is not on the baby? :(
Having the day off today was fab even though I had to do e-mails etc. I picked up DS early from his school and took him for a swim which he loved - we haven't done it for ages (just coming out of winter) so it was big fun :)

DS was also due around our anniversary but luckily came 2 days later - keep those legs crossed girls!

Good luck for the work, pistachio - I know what it is like: when you finally have some peace and quiet you wanna play on the internet, not work....

You are lucky you have preg friends. I have only been living here 2 years so don't have a wide circle of friends. I think I will join an ante-natal class just so I can become friends with other women due around the same time as me.

How are you feeling Iheartrpatz?

cowboylover · 01/11/2010 18:29

My turn to enjoy the time for some namechecks as im feeling a lot better today after interviewing all day which is suprising and DH not home for another hour so enjoying the quiet!

Iheart you poor thing - to echo the others take it easy and take the time you need to repair mentally as well!

mummywilliams I work from home part of the week sometimes. I am a sales coach and I need some peace from the noise of the office to listen to the recorded calls ect. I do love it and never missed the hour commute or the traffic!

thell I keep getting told to do them but what do I do?

My DH has also pointed out that my food cravings or requests come in a very random order e.g last night "I would like melted cheese but not pizza" so I had a BBQ chicken melt and then today I want lettice and sour cream so we will be having Nachos later! I am all about the things that are meant to be the side orders at the moment! Last week I had a mixed grill as it was on the menu with onion rings! Grin

mslucy · 01/11/2010 18:36

cowboy and querty

I have only had common cravings so far - the other night I HAD to have a Double Decker.

It was worth a horrid cold trip to the corner shop. Delicious.

Currently full of cold - frustrated by not being able to take anything. Spent the day planning lessons with a head full of snot - battling total brain fog. I work part time teaching in a college, which I combine with some TV writing work (worked for years in TV production in the pre children era).

I am also doing teacher training (part time, on the job). Had to tell the tutor, an older guy with no kids, which was mildly embarrassing, but he seemed sure I could get my PGCE without having to defer. I have put a lot of effort this and would be pissed off not to finish it.

Have enjoyed telling people about this pg, having kept schtum for so long. I think most people are a little surprised - I'm 40 and already have 2 kids - but everyone seems really happy for me, which is lovely.

DMCWelshCakes · 01/11/2010 18:43

Hello everybody! Glad to hear everyone's ok, but sorry to hear about people's scary experiences.

Everything's ok with me - am completely convinced I can feel the baby moving. I felt DiddyDragon at 14 weeks & have been feeling this one since about 10 weeks, but it's definitely getting stronger.

In answer to whoever it was that asked what we all do, I'm a civil servant. It sounds very boring but I actually really love my job as it's a bit more interesting than the average. It also fits in well around DiddyDragon's nursery & DH's job too.

MummyWilliams · 01/11/2010 19:24

Hi! All

iheart Shock hope you are ok. Will there be any follow up scans etc.

loopy are you ok? I have no advice re birthing situation, sorry. DD was an Emergency CS (after 2 day labour they discovered I have a man shaped pelvis). So I am an elcs everytime.

tinwe I'm 13+2 today, but have felt movement for the past 2 weeks. This is my 5th pregnancy.

qwerty you say you wished you had got into graphic design, I wish I had got into interior design Grin

zinnia I am with you all the way on toasted pitta & humous mmm! yummy!

It's really interesting to hear what everyone else does (work wise). Yes, I also work from home from time to time.

I've been really ill with this terrible cold. I lost my voice on Friday, I ended up going to the pharmacy early Saturday morning, to be told I couldn't take anything other than paracetamol. I didn't need paracetamol. Anyway I came home and had lovely hot honey & lemon. Still feel a bit rough now. But over the worst of it.

On a more positive note, we had our dating scan today. Everything ok. Couldn't get a nuchal measurement because our very active baby was laying on its tummy. But the sonographer did say that the nuchal was well within guidelines. So I am just having the normal triple test in a few weeks. Due date is now 7 May 2011 (although baby will be born in April as I will be pushing for a delivery at 37 weeks), so I shall update the stats list.

Next scan will be with the consultant on 17 November. Roll on the next 2 weeks & 2 days Grin

Have been looking into getting a doppler, even though I can feel movement. Does anyone have any advice?

xxx

Hi all. Been off on a quick jaunt to Scotland, which has been the breaking of me Sad. Trying to recover, but morning sickness has hit yet again with a vengeance - will it never end?!

Tinwe I went to a lovely pre-Christmas wedding, and one of the nicest things they did was sing Christmas carols.

Weird symptoms: realise that the oily skin is the body's skin coping with the stretching it has to do to accommodate the enormous knockers - how clever the human body is! Littlemilla & Runningmonkey - yehay, I'm not the only toe-hair freak! (Of course, you're not really, so all the books tell us...)

Loopy - no, I didn't manage the hair. Was too shocked. I now have HAIRLESS TOES!

Thell - sympathy for your awkward moment.

MsLucy I'm just behind you, as will be 40 in January. First one, eek!

Southpacific, tears, yes, all the time, but somehow holding back (thanks to stepson being around all the time probably...)

I'm also due 5 days before our 1st wedding anniversary, which means it'll probably be around then, as it's number 1. I think it's cool, except we'll never get any anniversary pressies, will we girls?!

IHeart - that's incredibly scary. I so hope you'll be ok. Was so pleased about your job, and shocked at what's going on. Will think of you xxx

Scan in 7 days. 12 weeks tomorrow, wahay!

jbells · 01/11/2010 19:26

Loopymumsy I am sure you will be fine as seam very level headed in MN world!

Questions: What is classed as an early baby? Reading what was said about 38 weeks and the breathing difficulties. My consultant said I am at risk of a premature birth due to the complications of my condition but I didnt ask when I saw him how early is early?!

mumandabump · 01/11/2010 21:31

Ladies - a random one. But for those missing something cold on a saturday night, Becks do a non-alcoholic beer and its yummy.

Yoohoo!

Popping in again - just had booking-in appointment at hospital. All ok, although midwife couldn't get a vein and just poked the needle around in my arm! They luckily have a midwife who runs a phleb clinic in ante-natal twice a week and it happened to be on.

Iheart your experience sounds terrifying! Hope you're feeling ok and resting x

Loopy the mei tai is a Babyhawk I bought on ukbabywearingswap yahoo group. It's good, but really big! Even tall DD would have been fine in a smaller one up to at least 2.

Hugs to everyone.
Feeling pretty rough today Biscuit
