Hello - this is actually Pochard - I am reverting to my usual posting name as I have now told my SIL (who is a mumsnetter) about the baby!

Welcome to all the new people and many congratulations on your pregnancies.

Had my 12 week scan which I am very pleased to report went well - one baby, was fine, saw and heard a little heartbeat. Dates changed slightly. Took DD (2.4 yrs) who seems to have absorbed the good news!

MummyWilliams · 28/10/2010 20:33

Hi! Everyone

Welcome & congratulations to all the new ladies. We have a separate stats list, please feel free to add your details.

Congratulations to everybody who has had positive scans - fantastic.

Good luck to everybody who has scans tomorrow. Shall be thinking of you and awaiting updates.

loopy have a fantastic time in Wales. Lucky you, I love it there.

iheart fantastic news about your job. Well done.

jbells every year I say I am going to make home made gifts, but never do. We did our own chilli pickled onions last year though, but didn't give any away, as they are a required taste.

Thanks to all the messages, sympathising with me feeling down. Feeling a little bit more upbeat at the moment. Feel 80% sure that I have been feeling LO move. Still dreading the scan on Monday though.

We all have the dreaded lurgy at home, but of course, DP has it far worse than anyone else LOL!

Have had DSD over for a few days, so sorry not been around for a few days.

For those ladies that go out to work, as in not a SAHM (coz that is a job title anyway - I hope that makes sense), what do you do? I'm a Graphic Designer.

Holy moly guys!
Even the thought of trying to keep up with everything going on and remembering who has said what makes my brain ache!
Loopy you are my hero keeping up with everyone and offering sage advice [hsmile]

Welcome to newbies - those who have waited, glad to hear you've had successful scans...
...and good luck to those who have scans coming up soon, especially today.

I haven't had exhaustion so much, but I do get tired easily and basically don't feel much like doing anything in the first place! It's the nausea that is bugging me though, and after a few days of feeling quite a bit better it's come back again [hhmm]

I am another babywearing enthusiast - and not just for those with toddlers to cope with. I found it easier to settle my needy baby, who often cried in the pram and wanted to be held, easier to go shopping because she would sleep or look around, and easier to negotiate shops and buses without a buggy. And they are so cuddly and snuggly too!
I never quite mastered my stretchy wrap last time, but I have more back-ups now as I've got a woven wrap, a ringsling, a structured carrier (beco) and experience with a toddler-sized mei tai too - and I'm going to indulge my lust for some of the prettier designs this time!

thell · 29/10/2010 10:32

Oh and mummyW - can't believe you're feeling movements! That's so great, I can't wait. I thought I was feeling some tiny little flicks very low down, but at 10 weeks I think it's too early. Probably just muscle twitches.

jbells · 29/10/2010 11:08

morning

wigeon- congrats on your scan :)

mummyw- so glad your starting to feel more positive, and thats really nice that u started to feel movement i dont think i felt them till about 18 weeks last time

loopy- i have read theu your post but i must say didnt fully understand some of the abbreviations u used, u seem very knowledgeable on the whole subject, the only advice i really have is rubbish and that to do whoteve u feel safest and most at ease doing, altho i completly understand y u r concerned considering how quick your last labour was

thell- feel your pain on the nausea, i am definatly looking to get a sling this time i never used one with DD

well must say today is completly dragging roll on one oclock when i can get ready to leave

Hi Ladies, good luck to all today on there scans, looking forward to hearing all good news from you. my scans on Wednesday & it cant come quick enough, my husband works away from home and will not be here, he was looking me to see if i could change it which i was kinda not wanting to do cuz i wanted it as soon as possible but when i phoned anyway and i was happy enough to hear they only do anti natel scans on certain days, none of which suited his work so thankfully it still going ahead....i know im slightly selfish but the wait is just sooo long. With my last preganacy i got scanned at every appointment cuz of twins so i know i'll be bummed this time when i only get the doppler at most appointments.

There is soo much happening on this thread ive read it all, but it is hard to keep up, i briskly went back to find the name of the mumsnetter im laughing at who got tired pairing socks Grin...im feeling for ya here, im so lazy this past few weeks its unreal. nausea seems to be rightly settled although im prone to boaking every so often!!

QwertyQueen · 29/10/2010 14:48

whew!
all good so far :D
Had to have an internal scan Shock
but we could see the little baby in there, she pointed out a head, 2 arms and 2 legs and it still had a bit of a tail! It moved a little and then stopped moving altogether :(
but I could see the heart beating on the scan, and we could hear it too!
I have to go next week for blood tests for Downs as well as a proper scan at a foetal assessment place for the nuchal fold, and then hope for the best.
Baby measuring 3cm so growth is spot on.
What a relief.
She said at his stage there is a 95% success rate in the pregnancy.
Hope you other ladies also had good scans, was thinking of you today!!!

Rollercoasteryears · 29/10/2010 15:09

Hello everyone, pleased to hear all the scan good news. Qwerty hard luck about having to have an internal scan.

MummyW I'm pleased that you're starting to feel a bit better. How exciting to feel movement! I'm really looking forward to it, I have wondered a couple of times recently (I am now 13+5) but it may well have been wind Blush. In answer to your question re employment, I'm a solicitor - although I can't imagine going back to that after this one... Are you planning to go back to your job?

I met up with a NCT friend this morning - there were 5 of us in our group, one I mentioned a couple of weeks ago has just found out she's expecting twins a week before me. The one I saw this morning is due two days after me! And one of the others is also pregnant - so 4 out of 5 of us is currently pregnant, 3 of us due within a week of each other! None of us knew the others were trying, so it's a bit of a coincidence!

I'm feeling almost perky today - this is probably the closest I've come to feeling normal for some weeks! I'm trying to assume it's an aberration, although I'm secretly hoping it's the start of a second trimester energy boost... If so, hopefully won't be long for you others who are still feeling rotten Grin

doireallywant3 · 29/10/2010 15:19

woohoo, had 12 week scan yesterday and all is well with the little one. huge relief

cowboylover · 29/10/2010 15:27

IheartRPatz
Many Congrats on the new job

Rollercoasteryears
Im with you on starting to feel better, I dont know if its the fact that im excited for a weekend at home with DH rather know on my own or that its Friday but been feeling really good today even though I didnt get to bed til 11am last night and that was a the latest in ages!

Sorry if a bit TMI ladies but has anyone found that pregnancy has already started to effect there sex lives? I am really sstruggling at the moment as lost confidence, feeling like a blob and just cant relax! I think im driving myself crazy! DH is being supportive and not pushy at all but im missing being intimate. Confused

runningmonkey · 29/10/2010 15:41

Afternoon all,

Just back from scan and all is fine - one v wriggly little baby in their - due date slightly altered to 7 May.

Got to dash as Mum here visiting so need to be sociable. Hope everyone else ok especially those with scans today x

HotButteredToast · 29/10/2010 16:36

Congrats to all those with healthy scans. Crossing fingers for the next few weeks for those with scans to come.
Thanks jbells, Loopymumsy and valz for kind words re: feeling slightly fatigued and needing a nana nap after pairing socks. Crossing fingers that energy will be restored soon so I can bash out some work in the 2nd trimester before collapsing again in the 3rd and then... and then...I believe life changes completely.
One of the rather pleasant side effects about this whole pregnancy malarky though is that I can't get enough of fresh fruit, raw veggies and tzatziki. They seem to cut through the nausea. Before all of this it was a bit of a chore, chocolate hobs nobs winning hands down over an apple or pear (unless in crumble form with lashings of custard). Probably no bad thing that the raw veg has come to the fore at the moment. Cleansing of auras and all that. Or some such.
Fear not though. Hot, buttered toast is still proving a constant.
Anyone else thus far had any curious additions or deletions from their pre-pregnancy diet?

Justtrying · 29/10/2010 17:16

Hi all, been out all day after scan and booking in appt this morning. Everything went fine, saw our baby wriggling round, scan dates me as 11 weeks exactly which pushes due date back to 20th. Our PCT don't offer the combined nuchal tests so have booked a private one on monday. Next scan is also new years eve. It seems real now even DH is starting to get excited.

I only get to check this site occasionally so was very glad to hear that I'm not the only one who can't fit into her clothes! (I'm 13 weeks - due date 6th May) I can fit some of my work clothes but most of my jeans have to be undone with a pregnancy belt over them (to hide the fact that they're undone). I'm going to have to go shopping...

I had my scan on Monday and it was just so exciting. Hubby and I were really nervous beforehand but everything looked ok so it was really amazing. We were able to buy a CD for £15 with lots of photos on which was great. I emailed them to my family in NZ and Australia who loved them - especially my grandmother who had never seen anything like it before. Was so wierd seeing the baby move around and not feeling anything. In one of the photos the baby even looks like it's smiling (I know it probably isn't but still made me feel good). I feel so much better after the scan knowing that everything is ok - so far anyway

Good luck for everyone's scans and make sure you take some money just in case you have the option of buying a CD or photos - it was lucky I had some money on me as I never thought about the fact it wouldnt be free. (Apparently the hospital had only just started doing the CDs)

BTW at 13 weeks the nausea and crushing fatigue is easing a bit for me at least so for anyone else who is a few weeks behind, it gets better soon!

jbells · 29/10/2010 19:04

hello ladies

so scan was today, gud news they sed all looks well bad new in they have put my dates back and i am only 10.1 weeks not the 12.1 that i thought, cant figure out when i possible concieved with these dates tho, due date is 26th may, so may well end up having a june baby.

will catch up properly once DD is in bed

jbells · 29/10/2010 19:16

oh i also found out i have a very rare shaped uterus lol

southpacificfish · 29/10/2010 19:46

Evening everyone!

Qwerty a 95% success rate is very good odds so fingers crossed all will be well for you and the little one. Great news that it's growing properly too.

Iheart Great news on the job, well done you!

Hotbuttered laughed out loud at you being sat on the sofa inelegantly! It is very tiring at the beginning, little one or not. I napped everyday in my lunch hour when pregnant with DD and am doing the same now when DD has her nap.

Loopy thanks for the sling advice. I guess the strengthening of the core muscles is great just after pg too, should help tummy back into shape.

Cowboylover If it's any consolation I really don't want to have sex either but would like a nice cuddle without having to ask for it or worry about DH thinking he's about to get lucky. I now go to bed about 10pm and DH comes to bed about midnight so there's very little intimacy - he might get luckier if he actually came to bed with me sometimes! lol. Funny old game this pregnancy lark, I got really cross last time when everyone reached out to pat my tummy too so I guess I feel as though my body is quite private during this time.

DD's 2nd birthday today and I'm pooped! Have had all family round and made canapes and cake and cleared it all away afterwards as DH has gone for his obligatory Friday night out at the pub. Actually feeling a little lonely this week; seem to be at home looking after DD (or out looking after DD) or at home cooking dinner or at home sleeping and never seem to be having much fun. It's no wonder mothers seem to go a little crazy sometimes for want of some adult conversation!!

Helenabing · 29/10/2010 19:59

Hello! I'm new on here: 10+6 and enjoying reading msgs from everyone having similar experiences to me - I've not found much info for this stage of pregnancy, other than 'expect to feel sick and tired'! Yes to sick (very a few wks ago!) but no to tiredness...i've always been a fairly sleepy individual so an extra half hr in the evening isn't so strange!!
Scan in a week +2 - cannot wait!! Hubby is counting days too. Btw what does dd and ds mean?!

southpacificfish · 29/10/2010 20:03

Hi Helenabing and congrats! DD means Darling daughter and DS darling son. DH is darling husband.

Helenabing · 29/10/2010 20:09

I had to laugh then at my hubby being a D anything! no only kiddin he's been great. I sympathise with you as far as feeling lonely and bored - I'm trying to get teaching work and there's nothing this week (half term) so just been moochin around thinking about my bump and watching jeremy kyle! had to force myself out the house today for some fresh air - before doing the ironing [yawn]

roll on those busy newborn weeks!

southpacificfish · 29/10/2010 20:16

Roll on my children being at least 5 and me having enough energy and not being pregnant and able to go out and enjoy a naughty saturday afternoon drink with the girls!! It's no fun being tired and sober all the time...quite jealous that you can sit around and watch jeremy kyle though, I won't have it on whilst DD is around as I don't think it's a very good influence on her but I think it's terribly funny.

Helenabing · 29/10/2010 20:21

it makes me feel very good about myself - which is ironic considering I'm usually still sat in my pjs with the washing up piled high when it's on!! you're right tho - once dd or ds is here then no more trash during the day..that's my current excuse for watching it now!
