Hi all,

Gone in to work overdrive, so not posted since Monday.

Symptoms - ditto on random toe hair and have also sprouted a lovely silvery 'down' all over my fat/swollen tum. Couple of dark pubey-type hairs ruin the overall 'ahh' effect though. Ha!

So sorry to anyone that is feeling sh*te.

xxx

runningmonkey · 27/10/2010 18:42

Hi all,

pistachio great news on the scan :)

jbells scan is at 1.55 Fri when is yours?

Loving the random symptoms discussion - aside from the, ahem, trumping issues mine also include sprouting a lovely selection of chin hairs [hhmm] and needing to eat large amounts of gherkins. DH said that he has never found me so attractive [hgrin]

Hope everyone else is doing ok today.

jbells · 27/10/2010 18:47

running monkey pmsl at your lovely selection of chin hairs, i have to nice spots on my cheek, my scan is 1:45 so we will prob be looking at r little ones at same time :)

DontWorryBaby · 27/10/2010 19:22

Can I join?

Conceived whilst breastfeeding so I'd waited for my scan today to confirm dates. My DS1 will be one at the end of November and DC2 is due on 24th May. Measuring 10+1 just now, back in three weeks for another scan. I'll try to update your stats page...

Grateful to receive any tips on coping with an 18mth age gap!

jbells · 27/10/2010 19:36

evening all

Tinwe · 27/10/2010 20:19

Evening all and
hello and welcome to Soandso and Don'tworry :)

Apologies in advance for any posts i've missed or names i've confused as i'm typing this on my phone so can't reread posts easily.

Thanks Loopy for the homebirth info. Very, very interesting... I'm really interested in a home birth, my only real concern is if something did go wrong and the baby was hurt because we didn't have assistance to hand, would I always feel guilty for choosing the option that I wanted rather than safest for baby? Will need to research lots more I think, starting with that link you provided.

Sorry to hear you're still being sick Thell. Sympathy for your 'accident'

Great news about your scans Mummy and Pistachio. In answer to your question I was the other one to have a scan today! Very exciting as my first ever scan. Great to see all essential parts were there and it was stretching arms and legs and flipping over lots so seemed fine :) Confirmed my dates as being about 13 +2 too. No decent pics tho as it wouldn't hold still, but a rough couple to remember the day by. At one point it turned to look at us and, as only the skull bones showed, DP gasped and said 'it looks like The Predator!' Luckily I was so excited I saw what he meant and took the funny side! :)

mslucy · 27/10/2010 20:59

Hello, can I join in?
I had my 12 week scan today and all good.
Have been lurking for ages but didn't join in as conceived this baby only a couple of weeks after an mc in Aug and didn't know if it would work out or not.
I'm 40 - possibly the oldest in this group Grin - and have 2 lovely boys - 5 and 20 months already.
I live in London and am genuinely shocked to be pg again - had to have IUI for DS2 but now weirdly seem to become pg very easily.

Fertility is such a random thing.

Now I know it's looking ok I will go online and buy some maternity clothes asap - nothing fits me. I am quite small (5'3, size 10) and already look like I have swallowed a watermelon.

oh Jbells the smell and feel sick thing is awful, do feel for you there. You should be getting sick less often if you are (fingers x) as far on as you think you are.

Welcome newbies, we must be a really enormous group now!

Tinwe and Loopy have been reading your discussion about homebirth and think you (and other home birthers) are so brave! I'm a real panicker even though the birth bit was straightforward last time and I pushed her out in 10 minutes, the labour of 28 hours before that I would never have through without an epidural as I had such awful sciatica with every contraction. Wish I could be brave and relaxed and give birth at home but I don't know that I have the courage (and we have white carpets! lol).

Btw, does anyone else feel like randomly bursting into tears at the moment?

Hello everyone. Haven't been here for a few days as I've been falling asleep very early & can't MN at work.

We had our scan yesterday & all was well. The baby was bigger than we thought though so I have new EDD of 6th May. It was bouncing about really well (and confirmed that what I thought was the baby moving actually is the baby moving) which meant we got to watch it for ages as it took so long to get measurements. Grin

DiddyDragon was fascinated by the baby on the screen & waved "bye bye Baby" as we left the room. I think she's a bit confused as to how the baby on the screen is the same one as the baby in Mami's tummy, but I guess that's to be expected as she's only just 2.

Still feeling queasy & have gone off my food. This has made me constipated too so I'm not a happy bunny. (Sorry about the TMI!)

DontWorryBaby · 28/10/2010 08:48

Thanks for the advice Loopy - I have a baby carrier from last time as I was out walking the dog daily but will invest in a sling for around the home.

jbells They usually only do 12 & 20 wk scans here but I didn't have a last period to count dates from and have no idea when I conceived so was booked in for a scan urgently to date the pregnancy. I'm only back for another in three weeks so they can do a more accurate measurement of the thigh bone. At the moment it just looked like buds rather than limbs. Not that I'm complaining about seeing the baby again though Smile

Justtrying · 28/10/2010 09:01

Fab to hear everyone's news. Sorry to everyone who is still feeling rubbish, I seem to feel off-colour about 60% of the time.

Goodluck to jbells and qwerty who share their scan date with me tomorrow, mine's at 0845 followed by booking in appt. I'm nervous but can't wait to finally see DC.

Went shopping with my sis yesterday, needed some clothes for work as nothing suitable fits, i'm only 11 weeks today and haven't put weight on but tummy is massive. Found a nice monsoon dress in a stretch fabric that will hopefully grow with me and gave in and bought a pair of wide leg maternity trousers from Mamas and Papas that are so comfy.:)

southpacificfish · 28/10/2010 09:16

Loopy I like the Torquay approach, that sounds really sensible. Sadly, around here there is a dire shortage of midwives - when one leaves they don't replace - but I would like the comfort of sitting back and trying to relax at home instead of waiting for the right time to drive to the hospital. I think the sciatica will return too as I haven't had it at all since giving birth until I was pregnant this time and I started getting twinges again. We'll see.

I was just thinking about the carrying the baby around in a sling thing and the new baby is going to feel incredibly light after carrying a 2 year old! Does a sling feel supportive on the back? Only ever used a babybjorn front carrier.

jbells · 28/10/2010 09:31

jbells · 28/10/2010 09:31

sorry if i missed anyone just about to take DD to nursery

Justtrying · 28/10/2010 13:04

jbells
I did hampers the year before last, went down really well. Italian is easy, some nice dried pasta, cured meats, grissini, cheese, perhaps a bottle of prosecco and some pickles either bought or homemade. I'm just off to the shops to buy vinegar to do some balsamic pickled shallots (i use pickling onions the're cheaper) recipe at bbcgoodfood.com. Dead easy, taste fab and you can vary by changing the basil for other herbs or even dried spices, chillis work well. Chutney is also easy, but a little time consuming, there are some nice recipes both on the goodfood website and the delicious site.

IheartRPatz · 28/10/2010 13:39

Really sorry to have not posted for ages.
Had my midwife appointment, which went well. She was very supportive and even though I had a c-section last time around (breech position and I had high blood pressure) she saw no reason why, if I wanted one, I shouldn't be able to have a home birth. I thought I was going to have enough trouble on my hands trying for a VBAC let alone approval for a home birth!
Am in two minds, I reckon we'll go to the hospital just to be sure, plus my house isn't really big enough for a home birth, nor are the walls thick enough to stop scaring the neighbours Grin
Midwife was fairly happy etc so has put me to the hospital for a scan, waiting to hear when, hoping to get the details today/tomorrow with the date. Am 11+6 (I think) today according to the midwife so its a tick tocking for the scan, though I think she said it was up to 13+6 as the deadline for the scan for screening (which is about the time I was with DD when I had her scan).

I am still feling tired Confused

On other news - I got the job I went for :) start it in December.

Justtrying · 28/10/2010 14:00

IheartRPatz
Many Congrats on the new job

running monkey
Sorry i missed you out on the good luck for your scan tomorrow, I guess we've all got our fingers crossed for good news.

HotButteredToast · 28/10/2010 16:41

Ho hum. Greetings all. Mind if I join in the merriment? I've got my 12 week scan in a 10 days or so so it's lovely to find some others at a similar stage. Just wondering if anyone else has been knocked for 6 by the 1st trimester exhaustion? I've no other wee ones so no excuses there but just pairing the socks this morning warranted a half hour pause, splayed in an inelegant manner across the sofa. Hopefully this will subside in the next couple of weeks and I can crack on with my writing again. The brain is sort of willing but the body is oh so weak. Those with tiny ones already, I salute you.
Best of luck to all those with scans looming.

QwertyQueen · 28/10/2010 18:35

Justtrying , Jbells and running monkey Good luck for your scans, I hope we all come back on here with positive stories tomorrow.
Mine is at 10am, which is 9am your time... so Justtrying, we should be having ours done around the same time!!!
I have been so crazy busy with work and on my feet all day today on site, so haven't thought about it at all, and now not feeling very pregnant at all, which then makes me worry that something has gone wrong :(
The mind plays horrible games sometimes....

QwertyQueen · 28/10/2010 18:43

ooh got my times wrong, my scan is at 1.... oh no got to get through the whole morning
sigh

jbells · 28/10/2010 19:19

evening all, DP is putting DD to bed so have time to catch up :)

qwerty- my scan is 1:45 so know how u feel its going to be a long morning :( think my scan last time i was pregnat was around half nine so didnt have to wait, i once agen have felt very sick today altho still find it hard to grasp yes i am pregant think till u have a bump and can feel them wriggling around there is always that doubt

hotbutteredtoast- welcome :) congrats on your 12 wk scan wot is your due date? i have also really suffered from exhaustion today my eyes were stinging i was so tired at some points in the day, plus the constant nausea isnt helping

iheartrpatz- i never understand y just bcos you have had one c-section they offer u another surely each pregnancy is different unless ofcourse your c-section was bcos of of a tilted pelvis etc, i wish they wud offer me a c-section if my last birth was anythin to go by lol, congrats on job :)

justtrying- i am going to try and make sum chutney next week, fingers crossed it works

hope everyone has had a gud day, unfortuantly another bad day of nausea today, didnt get any sickness last time round with DD hopefully it means boy this time hehe, cant wait to feel normal agen
