According to the doctors, its a kidney infection. Am now on antibiotics, 500mg x3 per day. They look like horse pills. Am hoping that this will be my last lot of tablets this year, having had several bad ear infections, and being on a 3 month course of iron tablets. I'm surprised I dont rattle!

septembersong · 17/11/2010 13:33

Hello, hope you don't mind a stranger posting a quick question .... is anyone else feeling movement yet? I'm 15+3 weeks pregnant and not sure if I'm feeling movement yet - sometimes there is the odd flutter, but more often than not, that turns out to be wind! Interested to hear what others are feeling around now.

Ha ha Loopy we've just put Aristocats on too! Thought I'd sit down and do the ironing so naturally need a little bit of Disney to make it more bearable!

Welcome September - if you're feeling flutters it probably is movement. Is this your first?

Hope you feel better soon Elf and I hope you don't get nightmares on those antibiotics, that sounds like a huge dose!

septembersong · 17/11/2010 15:30

Nope, not my first - all being well, this will be my third! Am 41 now, so a bit more anxious this time round ... but so far, so good!

Good luck with that Loopy!! Have just had a request from DD for Deal or No Deal and luckily it'll be on soon! They do have funny tastes at 2 years old...

Wow September your third!! Fantastic!

MummyWilliams · 17/11/2010 16:29

Hi! All

Hello september huge congratulations! Sounds like movement to me. This is my 3rd DC (although 5th pregnancy) and this little one will be born 6 weeks before my 40th. Please stay with us for the duration.

Elf hope you will be feeling much better soon.

southpacific I love decorating, any form of it. But DP won't let me do a thing.

Am jealous of the lazy days some of you have had, I like nothing more than the odd video & duvet day too!

Well, we went for another scan this morning. Everything is ok. Baby was doing an 'irish jig', which is what the consultant said. Completely forgot about asking her whether it was a boy or girl. I think it was because I was just so relieved that everything was ok. She explained that the placenta is at the front so may dampen feeling of movement. Told her that I had been feeling flutters and the odd stomach turning over feeling - which she said was brilliant.

Have the midwife this coming monday for listen in to hearbeat again. Then another scan booked for 30 November.

15+4 today Grin

Ahhhh MummyW that's good news on the scan front. You're welcome to come and do my decorating anytime....Grin. Unfortunately if I don't do the decorating DH doesn't even notice it needs doing and at the moment we don't have a room that's ready for a baby and DD won't want to move so gotta get the spare room habitable.

Do feel like I've been quite lazy today, just going to have a quick bath before I make tea for DD...haven't actually got dressed yet today! Whoops!

MummyW really pleased to hear that all is well, what a relief! I had my MW appointment today and it was OK. Went through the bog standard stuff and she was ready to pack me off when I meekly asked if I could listen to the HB. She said that because they struggle to hear it on many @ 16 weeks they don't normally do it.

I had to promise not to freak at her if we couldn't hear it (as i've felt movement) and so she did. Lo and behold, as SOON as she plopped it on then "doof, doof, doof". LOVED it! Going at 142-146 bpm.

I read somewhere about different HBs indicate the sex. Not planning to find out at 20 week scan, but secretely woulnd't mind a clue Wink.

cowboylover · 17/11/2010 18:10

Aaw, congrats september

I have now asked for some Disney DVDs for Christmas.

They are decorating our whole office at the moment and smell is unbelieveable! With paint, gloss and glue its crazy, think my head is spinning sometimes and making me feel very sick!

I am going to the dentist tomorrow and I dont want to sounds like a baby but im so nervous! I hate the dentist!

Hospital for my booking in with the Midwifes now on Firday. I dont know what thet can really be or what else they want to do! I have not had blood tests so may be that but I have already filled in my notes ect with my own local midwife.

jbells · 17/11/2010 18:25

DMCWelshCakes · 17/11/2010 18:31

Update - MW appointment went really well. She did listen for the heartbeat & eventually managed to find it (this baby is just as uncooperative as the last with these scans & monitors!) which was lovely. She was also pleased that I've been getting lots of movement, so I'm assuming the placenta's not at the front.

Hope everyone else is well.

crazydayz · 17/11/2010 18:42

Hi all,

Welcome September!

Elf Hope you feel better soon.

Loopy Any ideas on if you can put 2 babies in a sling at the same time and if so which type of sling?

Waves to everyone else and apologises for not being able to catch up with all the posts!

I'm over the moon as I have begun to feel 'normal' again as of Wed last week - no more vomiting and less headaches Smile! I'm now 14+5 so hoping I have turned the nausea corner and that it won't reappear!

A friend of mine sent me a foetal doppler which arrived yesterday. Very reassuring and I managed to find them both quite easily!!

DontWorryBaby · 17/11/2010 19:13

Fiji An 18 month age gap will be interesting, if nothing else! When is your DS 1? Mine is 29th Nov.

On the subject of prams, I think we will need a twin pram of sorts. Just not sure which style to go for but we can start shopping after Christmas, maybe there will be January sales!

Elf I hope you are feeling better and the ABs are working. Just make sure you get back to the GP if you don't see an improvement - a friend of mine has had a UTI since she feel pregnant (also due in May) and has various AB prescriptions which have been unsuccessful thus far.

cowboy I've had some very vivid dreams! In one, 2 of my SILs were pregnant. In another, I met my mum in a card shop buying my DS' first birthday card and she was in her dressing gown. I said in hushed tones "what are you doing shopping in your dressing gown?!" then looked down and realised, to my horror, I was also in my dressing gown and slippers. Maybe that means I need more sleep! Grin You have my sympathies about the dentist, I also hate it!

september I've had the odd bit of movement but very erratic so far, only 13+1 at the moment.

Loopy Your DVD day sounds blissful! Can't wait til DS is old enough for disney films. At the moment the TV gets a passing glance, or an occasional few slaps. He's constantly on the go.

MummyW Excellent news on your scan. Pleased to hear you're being looked after. Not long til 18 weeks now when hopefully you can relax a bit more.

I had another scan today. Sonographer was able to do all the necessary measurements and everything looked good. The baby was sitting on my cervix like a budda with legs crossed, which apparently makes it difficult to do all the measurements, so the sonographer had to really push the probe into my bump. Have been very sore ever since. Hope it passes soon!

wouldliketoknow · 17/11/2010 19:18

would it be weird if i just stop by to say hi? i had my baby on may 6th last year, and we still going on with the thread. ok ok, i am leaving now....

pistachio just ask, I'm sure she'll do it. And movements can be affected by the position of the placenta - nothing to worry about. With regards to my scans, I will have them fortnightly til 22 weeks, then possibly just every four weeks - not sure yet. I have blood pressure issues too!

cowboy i am so with you on HATING the dentist. Be brave. I know its hard, I get sweaty palms just phoning them to make an appointment.

wouldliketoknow thanks for popping in. Hope things are going well for you.

loopy yuk! to pickled onions. yum! to cheese and strawberry laces - not together though

I could be completely wrong about the gender heartbeat thing - but the higher the hearbeat the more chance of it being a girl from 158bpm. Lower than 158bpm is likely to be a boy. But its just prediction at the end of the day Grin There is no scientific evidence.

southpacificfish · 17/11/2010 20:53

Loopy Yay! I watched the 1930s last night, loving the series. Now have you been brace yet and snorted the salt water???

Pistachio I am in awe of you having the energy or inclination to do body pump

Cowboy good luck at the dentist. I love mine but then I go every 6 weeks so it would be awful if I didn't.

With all the talk about whether or not people are going to find out what they're having, a part of me wants to know now! Will content myself with the heartbeat thing though, my other half absolutely cannot keep a secret and the whole village would know what we were having before I'd left the hospital after the scan.

To anyone into baking at the moment, I was amazed at how easy it is to make bread and the white bread that I made took 10 minutes to get to the stage where you leave it, then only an hour to rise then only half an hour to cook. So little actual effort I won't be buying bread anymore.

LittleMilla · 17/11/2010 21:19

Loopy MummyW I mustn't get too excited because I wouldn't mind a boy if I'm being honest.

On food loopy I am also having some odd cravings. Full fat milk, potato waffles, fruit ice lollies and other oddities. Somehow I think my modest weight gain to date is going to be undone!

Forgot to say. Cowboy I am having a crazy recurring dream that my DH has killed someone. I am complicit in the whole thing and I actual woke up sitting bolt upright this morning panting. WTF!?! But in my dreams it's all "fine".

Southpacific I have baked a carrot and ginger cake for my lovely work colleague's birthday - she's 32 weeks.

Forgot to ask, how's everyone in terms of waking/weeing in the night? I am waking every night at about 4:30am for a tinkle. Hope it doesn't increase...LOVE my sleep and hate it being interrupted.
