I'm thinking of moving out to a hotel where I can get fed, and not have to clear up, and get better from this horrid bronchitis. I might not move back in. How do you get your husbands to do their bit?! Why is mine being such an a@*£?

MummyWilliams · 15/11/2010 22:29

sesame Mine enjoys cooking. Although thats great, the amount of washing up everyday is huge. It's like every item in the kitchen seems to get used lol! I had a chest infection it was terrible, I ended up needing antibiotics to clear it up. You have my every sympathy.

Hi all, I'm on to vent again, I posted about my dad&work earlier....as the conversation of me been pregnant was so short I hadn't told him nobody else knew only parents&my sis but my dad is generally verg private&detests gossip so I hadn't worried, my sis just informed me that dad told my bro cuz his partner mentioned it to her earlier, I'm lyin in bed & I can't sleep cuz I'm so mad! I know I'm over 12 weeks so it ok to tell but I wasn't goin to mention till Xmas I just hate others been in control of that, dont think i should even bother tryin to stop the news goin any further cuz 1 thing I'm sure of the saying your secret is safe with me means f@ck all!! Will catch up ur posts tomorrow, just had to get on for a winge!

fijibaby · 16/11/2010 01:17

Hello All!

Haven't been on for a few days and there is so much to catch up on. Can feel a long post coming on Blush...

DontWorryBaby please hold my hand! I'm wondering just what I've got myself into - too late to back out now! Bring on the crazy!

Loopy thank you for the sling guide, I have a pouch sling but the cherub is packing on the pounds and it is not so comfy now... very keen to upgrade to something else. And yes, I indulged in some hummous... ate a whole pot in a single sitting!

Qwerty how awful for your DS, his friends and for you. I hope the memorial went some way to helping everyone with their healing.

Valz How very insensitive of your dad. It sounds like he is far more worried about himself and his stress levels than anything you are going through. As everyone else has said concentrate on yourself and what is best for you, he'll sort himself out.

Jbells Your DH can eat 10 crispy cremes in one sitting - Wow! Dunkin' Donuts is as close as we get and I'm hanging out for a Bavarian cream... it doesn't count as custard does it? Grin

Stripey lovely to hear from you. Please keep us posted with news of your DD. Hope all treatment is going according to plan and she (and the rest of your family) is coping with it all.

Looby poor your with the bunged up nose, last pg DH constanly asked "Have you got a cold?" to which I constantly replied "No, just pg". Got a bit tedious after a while, the question and the sniffing!

Weight - not a fan of scales, don't have any and my mother's are deliberately set heavy so she can beat herself up about how 'bad' shes's been with food. So I've not weighed myself this time. Sadly there's no sign of the fantastic boobs I had last time... poss because still BFing the cherub? At this point last time I had fabulous boobs and no tummy, this time little round tummy and no boobs. :(

Prams - I'm a devoted buggy user. We have 2: a monster with all the bells and whistles and independent rear suspension (DH was instrumental in buying that one... can you tell? Wink) and a folding one for when we travel. I wouldn't even consider power walking with friends without one. As mentioned before 'we were only going to have one baby' so bought a whizz bangy travel system, loved the ease of car seat onto wheels and it had a carry cot which strapped into the car, the cherub was 2&1/2 wks when we drove 5hrs to SIL's Bday party and couldn't have done it without the carry cot. But he grew out of it pretty quickly.

I don't think you can ever underestimate the value of a good car seat. I always smile contentedly as I look at the cherub strapped securely into his horrendously expensive top rated car seat, knowing he is as safe as I can make him. But it is really worth shopping around for the best prices as they seem to vary widely from place to place. We will probably try to buy the booster seat from the UK as the same model is a fraction of the price as in NZ.

Sorry that I haven't name checked everyone, but I've rambled on enough already!

fijibaby · 16/11/2010 01:18

Oh and good luck for all those scans and best wishes for a wonderful week! Smile

Oh, I feel slightly vindicated now, I went to the doctors last week in agony saying I thought I had a water infection, he did a test and said he wasn't sure, and would send samples to the hospital for testing. Fairly, wouldn't prescribe me anything without results.
Had a phone call from the surgery, they have done a prescription for me, and its "important" I pick it up today. So important in fact that they have taken it to my local chemist so its all ready for me to pick up on my way home!
So - I dont know WHAT is wrong with me, but I know its something and not just me being a weakling!!

Will catch up on thread tonight & post tomorrow, am on half days at work til end of Nov as CM is on hols so I am doing the school run, going to just take a quick lunch and bash through the work.

sesamesmith · 16/11/2010 13:25

Thanks for replies about dumbo hubby! He has a stepson who he has had sole care of for 8 years so he knows how to cook for/look after more than one - he's just being an imbecile! I think I'll get his credit card and order takeaways if this ever happens again, including when we're back from the hospital in May!!!!! Doesn't bode well though and I'm really concerned. You would think he'd know how to look after a pregnant woman already....

Really annoyed at my doctor's surgery - they keep telling me they'll look into the blood test results nearly 2 weeks on, in particular the nuchal risk. I'm being passed from pillar to post and just want to go down there and kill someone now! The current excuses are that: I should discuss it with the midwife, if there was anything 'wrong' they would tell me, and that the secretaries are ALL at lunch - grrrrr. And all after my doctor personally called me on Friday evening to tell me they would be looking into it yesterday and get back to me. I'll be giving birth before I get the results!

Sorry to rant - at the end of my tether!!!!

Hope everyone else having a better time and is experiencing the phantom 2nd trimester glow...

Bonkerz · 16/11/2010 16:12

hi all, sorry for lack of attendance on this thread. I am now 14+3 and still feeling disconnected from baby. Now have buggy, car seat and cot and started buying nappies and other bits for baby. Have scan on new years eve to find out gender.
Today i rented a doppler so we can hopefully listen to Jellybabys heartbeat and try to connect a little.
hypermeresis is getting me down now although i do have tablets to try and stop the sickness. Am on anti biotics too for a chest and ear infection so am off work for a week but cant do very much as the meds are wiping me out :(
moan moan moan.......sorry

cowboylover · 16/11/2010 18:35

Looby: 4.5k! Oh WOW thats expensive! I dont even want to know how much he is paying for his week. He does like very expensive things!

pistachio Ohh new car! I really want one but I have only just finished paying for my little KA! Not very practical at all but I cant afford anything else. DH has a Focus so I am hoping I can borrow that if I need to go very far. DH earns alotmore than me so I hope when he gets fed up of driving my little far her will buy me a new one Grin unlikey but more likely than me being able to buy another one on maternity pay!

sesamesmith I love the credit card plan and I hope he comes into his own soon to step up for you.

Bonkerz Wow you are getting organised well! I am looking forward to doing the same. Did you find buying the buggy hard? There is just so much choice!
I dont feel overly pregnant or have much of a connection but I hope thats just because its early days. I think I keep looking at the scan (screen saver on my phone) to remind me about it as that I dont just feel rough and tired its because im growing a baby.

Sorry to hear so many on rubbish meds! I never just seam to get one thing its always a multi infection!

Is anyone else having vivid dreams? I woke up in tears this morning after dreaming that DH was leaving me. It was so detailed and I can remember all of it Sad I think it was a combination of elements of different conversations and watching accused on the TV before bed! He wondered what the hell was going on when I called him to ask if he was leaving me this morning when he was coming off nightshifts! Its date night tomorrow so hopefuly all will be fixed and I will stop freaking myself out!

Think I've just caught up with everything! Sorry about answering ancient posts from last Friday lol

DMC - have been told by the cranial sacral lady that I see that the headaches during the second trimester are hormone related and it should ease after a couple of weeks. Headaches seem to have subsided for me now so I hope your migraines are leaving you alone now too.

Cowboy So pleased that you are getting on with your new line manager, that could have been a bit tricky in your delicate pregnant state but it sounds as though all is well.

Jbells I am 16+2 now and started sticking out about a week ago - nearly 6 weeks earlier than I stuck out with number one but then once upon a time I had good tummy muscles...they never fully recovered but then I didn't do any exercise either so...Weight gain / loss is so different from person to person but I think the average over the whole pregnancy is about 2 to 2.5 stone. Don't worry if you put on more or less so long as you are well and baby developing well.

Qwerty So awful about your DS best friend. Memorial sounds like it was a good, helpful service and I hope your DS is coping ok.

Loopy Good to hear you and DH have had a long chat about IM. Any news about drugs at home?

Dontworry Will be doing single buggy plus sling with this baby (and probably a buggy board) but my DS will be 2.5 so that much older that your DS. If you have a reclining seat on your buggy you can always pop baby in there whilst you sort DS out perhaps? Just an idea and I don't know how it would work in practice yet...

Elf I was going to say to put a little bicarbonate of soda in your drinking water as it's really good for urinary problems including cystitis but it sounds as though it's a little more serious?!! Fill us in when you know what's wrong.

Littlemilla have also had movement - little flutterings a few times a day, usually when I'm laying down.

Valz It was me that does DH and BIL's bookwork at home but it only takes me about 2 weeks part time every three months and I probably only do BIL's invoicing a couple of times a week so it's not a high pressure job at home. Your dad sounds like he was very insensitive. What's his relationship like with your children? Is he a complete workaholic? Is your mum around and can she intervene and give him a kick up the wotsit? I would say you should take all the maternity leave you're entitled to and ask him to treat you like every other employee - in other words, if he had said that to anyone other than family it is very likely he'd be taken to court IYSWIM. I bet you're really really angry but the best way to deal with this is to be really professional and not rise to it. Go and punch some pillows or have a good scream into one to let off steam. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Stripey Good to hear from you. Really hope the chemo is doing the job for your DD.

Sesame They always need asking to so the bloody cooking even when you're bent over the loo puking!! I am lucky enough to have a DH that can cook better than I can so it is at least edible food! Unfortunately his mum was a super mum and as I stay at home like she did the cooking is my job......humph. Hope you're feeling better anyway.

All is well with us although I'm having really vivid dreams and nightmares already about giving birth Hmm

Haven't been sick for a week now thank god and have decided now would be a good time to learn to bake bread (I have no idea why????!!!!) so first batch about to go into the oven...

Hello to everyone I haven't namechecked and sorry for the HUGE post!

Sending sympathy to Loopy ... bread is lovely by the way, was pleasantly surprised!!

Was all ready to go and gloss the window frame in the attic room whilst DD was painting the wall that needs plastering to keep her occupied but I feel awful this morning. I'm sure I'm not ill and it's all pregnancy related and teeth related (had 6 weekly brace tightening yesterday which involves 100 mile round trip). Feel quite breathless ad exhausted and nearly puked when changing pooey nappy just now. Guess I'll have to give in and stretch out on the sofa for the morning...wonder how long it will be before DD and I are also under a duvet watching a movie?!

That was a nice surprise Loopy, I thought it was Tuesday still!! Will be encouraging DH to cook tonight so I can sneak out for an hour to the pub before dinner! Have just got to see some normal people!! Have managed to get off the sofa and put a coat of gloss on the window after all and now DD is asleep I'm going to have a cheeky stretch out in front of Smallville.

Loopy I know it sounds gross but have you tried snorting some salt water? It really works for clearing the snot out and killing off the nasty germs. Don't take it all the way back, just snort a little up into each nostril and then have a good blow - recommend doing it over a sink!

It really does the trick, I do it every time I feel a cold coming and rarely get a full blown one now.

Hooray for DH doing the school run!

I do work in the local pub though and it is a little country one so it's not really like going out! If I didn't work there, I probably wouldn't get out much at all!
