HI all
Had my dating scan today - all good. Little 'falafel' was nodding its head and I can't decide if it was headbanging to some punk or nodding in an appreciated "nice" way to some cool jazz...
Still being sick occasionally and retching but starting to get more energy. I picked up a cold last week and couldn't work on Friday I've never known sinus pain like it. Wiped me out for most of the weekend and not helped that DH had it too (except he was worse with imminent tonsilitis although penicillin seems to have kept that at bay for once).
I had a flu jab today - anyone else had one?
Hoping it doesn't give me any side effects

cowboylover · 08/11/2010 13:57

sesamesmith Thanks! You just saved me a fortune on my new coat Grin I am feeling miserable at home today, got a horrible cold and I feel like im breathing through a paper bag.

I hate having time off work and just feel like im letting them down but I dont know what else I could have done today made worse by the fact that I got lots of hospital and dental appointments coming up I really dont want to have to cancel.

I have another scan tomorrow so im looking forward to seeing the baby again and hoping I have not made it feel ill!

Iheart Hope the news is good, hugs for you and the little bean.

Loopy another one to say thanks for everything and hope all is well with your bean.

QwertyQueen · 08/11/2010 14:23

I hope we hear good news from Iheart....

sesamesmith · 08/11/2010 14:51

Tee hee. Just ordered a stethoscope on eBay, £3.32, so I can hopefully listen to the little one soon :)

Scan went well, phew!! Measured at 13 weeks 1 day which is in line with the dates the hospital gave me at the scan last week. Baby waving away again.
Its really changed since I had DD. Last time I had my scan and that was it, this time was scan, BP, bloods, visit to the consultant... the only time I saw a consultant last time was towards the end when debating about having DD turned, and discussing a C-section.
Noticed on my notes that the person scanning has written that it looks as if I have a "corpus luteum cyst" on one of my ovaries. Bit confused as my private scan at six weeks said both ovaries were fine. Not sure what this cyst is... off to google and freak myself out.

My friend sent me a text saying "baby is a tough cookie like its mother" which was quite nice.
Was really nervy before the scan though. Still not sure whether to go major public yet with the news. Fingers crossed things go smoothly from now on! Blood pressure was higher today (top number, not bottom) but am putting down to stress!

sesamesmith · 08/11/2010 17:35

Iheart that's great! corpus luteum cyst occurs at this stage in about 1 in 10 pregnancies and only 1% require intervention, which does not threaten the pregnancy, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

QwertyQueen · 08/11/2010 17:46

Iheart that is brilliant!!! Grin

MummyWilliams · 08/11/2010 17:49

Hi! All

Will name check in a bit.

Sorry to leave a message and run over the weekend. Basically DP's nan, fell off her bed, 4 weeks ago and broke her leg at groin level. It had to be operated on and pinned and plated. However, she recovered well from the op, but has got infection after infection everywhere else. She is 94, poor lady. We got a phone call late friday eve to say she is not responding to treatment and basically it's just a matter of time. So off we went on a mad dash to Devon. When we got there she was fine, she has perked up and we are hoping that although frail, she will recover as well as she can from all these different infections. Fingers crossed.

Thanks loopy I got your message. DP's family is in Witheridge.

Iheart Hooray! Great news.

Loopy Also hooray!

Qwerty Sounds really awful for you at home and I'm sure you're not alone. Do either of you get to go out alone and see friends for a bit of distance from home and each other? Is your DH doing a project that will finish soon at work or is his work always stressful? Peppermint tea is good for calming the stomach if you can face it. We're all here for you x

Sesame you are funny! lol love the stethoscope idea!

Good luck tomorrow Cowboy

MummyWilliams · 08/11/2010 18:09

FANTASTIC news iheart Lets hope you can have a little bit of a relax now.

loopy I know exactly what you mean about the 48 hours after last scan and baby had died issue. Same thing happened to us at the 15 week loss.

I have been to see the Midwife today. I shall be seeing her every other week and the week that I don't see her I shall be with the Consultant having a scan. So I don't have to wait too long for reassurance.

Had a listen to the heartbeat today, brilliant. So relieved (well for a little bit anyway). HB was 145-150 bpm.

I heard and it was true for me with both DC, if heartbeat is between 140-155bpm its a boy, higher its a girl.

I think most of us have had dating scans now. Who else is still waiting?

Although in 2nd trimester I am still having little bouts of nausea. Still feel really tired as well - but that could be down to the time of year too!

Thinking of telling DC soon. Might have to wait for DSD to join us. But I think DC may have guessed as mummy's tummy is big again!!!

I know its a few weeks off yet, but is anyone going to find out the sex of the baby?

Also has anybody bought any baby goodies yet?

MummyW that makes two of us with the nausea - am also being sick most days too! Very bored with that now but hey ho, sickness is always a good sign. Not going to find out the sex but I'll have a guess when I have the heartbeat checked next week using your method above!

runningmonkey · 08/11/2010 18:41

Hi all,

rpatz so pleased for you. I am picturing you looking a little bit like this :o

gingerwench glad you had a good scan too. Am loving your little 'falafel'. We are yet to name our little been. DD was known as 'the grubbler' I can't really remember why though.

Loopy also sounds like a positive day. Hope you get the HB you want.

MummyW glad that your DP's Nan is recovering, long may it continue.

Hello to everyone else.

Thanks for the Dotty P's code sesame I think I will be persuading DH to buy me some Mat goodies for an early Christmas pressie.

Am still having the odd bout of nausea too. Seems to be if I go too long between eating - not good when I look about 6 months gone and its all lard. Am really trying hard to make healthy choices though.

I'm off to see the consultant tomorrow - have been referred because BMI is 1 over the limit for referral :( and after DD was born it was suspected by a paed that I had gestational diabetes while pg so am going to be closely monitored this time. Not sure what a GD diagnosis would mean for me/the baby but am trying to stay away from google for the time being until I know whether I've definitely got it or not.

qwerty, jbells, tinwe and anyone else. Sorry you are having difficulties with DH/P's.

We are having issues over the lack of sex but I just don't fancy it at all - got my mojo back in a big way at about 6 months last time but lost it again after DD was born until I finished bf when she was 8 months Blush.

Think that's all I can remember for catching up. Sorry if I've missed anyone - I must try to remember pen and paper a la loopy :)

runningmonkey · 08/11/2010 18:42

Oh knew I'd do it - we're going to find out sex as DH wants to. Won't tell anyone in RL though as last time we were told with 99% certainty that we were having a boy and then discovered at a 36 week growth scan that DD was a girl. Was v glad we'd kept it to ourselves!

BizzeeBee · 08/11/2010 18:53

Hello! Apologies for no name checks this evening. My brain is broken after a long day at work...

So, I can't fly back to England for Easter because the last day I can travel with BA is the day before Good Friday. However, I had a light-bulb moment, and I am not going to put any effort into checking other airlines or Eurostar, because instead I am going to persuade my darling parents that they want to drive over to see us for Easter, and bring a car full of all the baby equipment we need. Grin

The biggest problem I have found when looking in the baby shop is that the boring stuff like pushchairs, car seats, bottles etc is really expensive.

Plus the shop doesn't have that special knack of presenting things nicely and creating that kind of atmosphere that makes your brain malfunction and you start buying lots of gorgeous / I can't possibly survive with out things you don't need and didn't intend to buy before entering the shop.

I just ended up feeling really depressed and was happy to get out of the shop.

However, French baby clothes from the right shop is a different story all together - really cute.

Made chutney on Sunday. It took longer than I'd anticipated, but that doesn't matter now that I can gaze at my lovely new jars of chutney in the cupboard with a nice fuzzy feeling of thinking that I'm a little bit of a domestic goddess!

Don't worry though. The domestic goddess only made a fleeting appearance at the weekend before going back on strike. I'm being incredibly lazy with dinner tonight - and that's normal for me! Wink

I hope you all are doing well. :)
And apologies again for a self-centered post.

MummyW We want to find out the sex as I am not one for surprises! DH said the other day that he would prefer a boy as all the recent genations in his family have been girls. I really dont mind either way but not liking much of the neutral stuff out there so be better for my shopping habit to know!

runningmonkey I had totally gone off sex as I got so nervous I couldnt enjoy it! Sorry if TMI but with the early extreme constipation I just fel full in all the wrong places and paranoid! When it was on my mind that was the end of it so on the weekend I treated 'us' to a new sexy baby doll and then felt less prodgy so I enjoyed the attention from DH!Grin And normal service is now resumed!

My cold is starting to seel a little better after lots of sleep and a very small glass of rose so now perving watching Casino Royal.

I have just sent out the FB invite to our party on Saturday night to have people around to watch the boxing and already regreting it a little... I must kick everyone out in the nicest way by 1am or I will turn in to a grumpy gremlin Angry

Getting excited for my scan tomorrow now as feels better than last time when all I felt was panic! Must to remember to drink plenty in the morning before I go this time.

HicUps · 08/11/2010 21:12

Hi All

Just joined Mumsnet after much badgering from my sister who has two lovely kiddies. She swears by it!

Am 14 weeks pg, due in early May. Everything seems fine so far, but had MC previously so am on tenterhooks the whole time. My DH obviously feels I'm fussing over nothing, but I can't help it!

First scan went ok, little thing was really wriggly!! I was supposed to be moved to tears, but was really amusing.
Can't believe 20 week scan requires me to drink 2 pints of water... I will burst!!!

Cowboylover good luck with your scan.

Anyhoo, thought I'd say hello to my fellow mums-to-be. Nice to meet you Smile

sesamesmith · 08/11/2010 22:21

Ha ha re scan - my bladder was too full to be seen and I had to be excused to go and sort the situation out...!

perpetuallypregnant · 09/11/2010 00:00

Hi it's actually katnkankles with new name.

Haven't been on for ages must apologise but 6 month old dd3 has decided sleeping is not for her so I'm constantly wrecked :(

So pleased to hear good news from scans. I had mine a couple of weeks ago and all is fine. New due date is 6th May. Nuchal fold and blood tests gave me a low risk result of 1 in 50000 :)

We've gone public and most people have been supportive. I've had a couple of 'you've just had one'!s and '5 children wow!' but in a nice way. I was shocked so I suppose other people have the right to be!

The children were great when we told them. DS just grunted but that's not unusual, in fact it's his standard response to everything Hmm. DD1 (12) was delighted! DD2 thought we were joking but was pleased once she realised we were serious.

Is anyone else being put on Clexane? I have to inject myself twice a day it's quite scary. It's because I'm at higher risk of blood clots due to BMI and number of babies. BMI is normally ok but I was still fat from having DD3 when I fell pregnant with this one and now I've got no chance!

Hi everyone, great to hear everyone's news. I'm in bed at home with pains, waiting for the doctors to open so reading this site really cheers me up.

I went maternity clothes shopping yesterday in Oxford St and get this, according to the bra-fitter in John Lewis I have gone from a B cup to a DD! I was shocked - having always being relatively flat, it's a bit of a novelty. As you can imagine DH thinks it's great!

Also I now have a distinct bump when I'm wearing tight tops (making the most of my cleavage and trying not to just look fat!) Was at a party on Sat night and someone who didn't know, saw my bump and noticed me not drinking and guessed. I'm only 14 weeks so was very excited to have someone guess

Now if only the stupid pains and tiredness would go, I'd be one of those glowing happy mums-to-be...

runningmonkey · 09/11/2010 09:07

Thanks for the reassurance loopy DD was big (9lb7oz) and there is history of both types of Diabetes and GD on both sides of my family (my aunt had GD and a 14lb'er!!) so I think its pretty likely tbh. Am mainly worried as I think I have to have more bloods taken and its always difficult and since DD's birth where I had some 'incidents' involving cannulas (don't want to scare the first timers with details) I seem to have become needle-phobic. Ridiculous really when I am a biology teacher quite used to dissecting things and generally grossing out students with the delights of the human body :o Also have to take DD with me so that's going to be interesting - have packed snacks galore!

Re the scan - was pretty funny really as we weren't going to find out and then in the waiting room DH said he'd really like to know so I went along with it. When the sonographer said it was a boy DH asked her how sure she was and she laughed and said 99% in a tone that implied he shouldn't have dared question her ability! Was quite a shock at 36 weeks as I had been convinced all along that I was having a boy anyway and her heartbeat was in the supposed boy range too.
