SamB I lose full days too! School pick up comes round v quickly. I've been sore too, only on iutial latch though so think its partly toughening up & partly let down.

SamanthaB123 · 22/10/2010 11:35

Thanks Nymph, maybe it is ok, I'm just not sure. The midwife is calling around later on today so she is going to check. I'm finding it difficult to go out because I don't have any (I mean any) clothes to wear. My pre-pregnancy clothes are way too tight - either waist or chest and I didn't have maternity tops that I could breastfeed in - and anyway they are also way too tight. I'm going to have to shop so that I can shop, if you see what I mean Smile!

SilverSky · 22/10/2010 11:35

Congrats BackAgain! Excellent name choice!!! Look forward to hearing the birth story.

40+4 and waiting!!!!!

Xavielli · 22/10/2010 11:46

Well done BackAgain speedy sounds good!

shieldbug · 22/10/2010 12:09

Congratulations backagain excellent news and another great name choice. Clearly we are ladies of taste on this thread! Glad to hear it was quick too.

SIlver hope the appointment goes well today. Are you having a sweep?

SamB Ruby sounds lovely and I am pleased that your recovery is going so well.

40+6

nymphadora · 22/10/2010 12:14

Congrats backagain speedy sounds good!

SamB I'm having same probs with clothes. Now up to two pairs of (mat) trousers that fit & tried to order loads of cheap stuff online but when it comes I find my parcels full of stuff for dd3 Blush

Off to breast feeding group this afternoon, wish me luck cos I'm actually a bit nervous of meeting new people!

Tyson86 · 22/10/2010 12:26

Congrats jesse and backagain
Lovely birth story jesse I agree if you have nice staff it makes it amazing and I also discovered the high after giving birth which i didnt have after my first dc.

Thirdtimer · 22/10/2010 13:31

Looks like they're all coming out eventually! No sign from mine yet (40+2) but can't be long coz it's felt like it's been hanging halfway out for weeks! MW this morn said I was a couple of cms and raring to go... but again, that's been the case for a while now! She had a hearty sweep while she was there... and I'm just waiting now... just really really hope the whole VBAC goes okay - everyone seems to think it will and the MWs etc are all really supportive so fingers crossed!

Xavielli · 22/10/2010 13:34

I really, really, really want to bite a stickle brick!.... There! I said it! I'm going insane aren't I?

As you were......Confused

ILoveGregoryHouse · 22/10/2010 13:39

Congratulations Elsa and BackAgain.

Still waiting but only 38+6 so shouldn't really moan. Full moon at 3am tomorrow so maybe we'll have a rush this weekend.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 22/10/2010 14:05

Back again- massie congrats on Lucas :)

Xav- you bite that stickle brick, what ever gets you through Grin

Hermya- I x posed with you last night, hope things get moving for you soon! Sounds very promising!

Abfab- not heard from you for ages, I hope everything is going ok.

We're fine, just missed a hv appointment as got stuck in traffic with a screaming baby. I forgot how that sound goes through you :(

nymphadora · 22/10/2010 15:03

Go for it Xav Grin

SilverSky · 22/10/2010 15:25

bugs no sweep today. Much to HIs disappointment. MW reco'd waiting til I am 7 days over as I can only have three and if done too early they can be wasted I'd body not ready iyswim. So Monday it is. Unless it all happens over the weekend then no need!!

MW very happy with everything. No protein in wee so that's an improvement. Literally waiting for this sprog to get a wriggle on.

Why is it that my tum always feels sore after a MW visit? Feel like I have been battered.

Just scoffed loads of choc mini treats. Yum.

Hermya321 · 22/10/2010 15:38

Well I'm still niggly, still ignoring it. Had a vvvveeeerrryyyyyy long nap this afternoon so feel a bit more human, if this is the real deal at least I'll be able to face it not feeling quite so tired. But we shall see.

Feeling quite chilled at the moment, I've not felt like this for weeks. Oh well, it can only be a good thing.

Xav I do recall doing similar things when I was a kid. There is something satisfying about bending back all the little plastic bits.

Back Great name and congratulations!!!

Congratulations on Lucas, BackAgain, Jesse and Max, and Elsa and DD. :) Hurray for babies!

Come on the rest of you!!!

Had in-laws staying so not been online much.
I am well, back ache has eased, not 100% gone, but I'm fine. DS is thriving, and we are extremely happy. :)
Off to the London Baby Show tomorrow, yippee! Anyone else going?

Elsa123 · 22/10/2010 19:13

Many many congratulations to all of you who have had babies so far, so exciting. Well here's my birth story, I'll try to keep it short:

Contractions started on the night of 10th Oct and were 20 mins apart all night, so I got little sleep. They died away at 0900 the next morning annoyingly as I'd told my DH at 0600 not to go to work. They returned at 1830 on 11th and were regular as clockwork all night and we were up from 0200 having fitted the tens machine. By 0730 they were 5 mins apart so we went to the hospital where of course they died away. So I went home and they did not start again until 1430. I was under strict instructions not to go in until they were regularly 5 mins apart, so I held out until 1730 on 13th when I could not get them regular but they were between 3-5 mins apart. We arrived at the hospital at 1830 and were admitted as I was 3 cms thank God!

We had a marvellous midwife who was with us throughout as her shift started at 2015. Unfortunately my blood pressure rose so I couldn't get in the pool despite getting the one available room with a pool. They fitted an IV line just in case then by 0230 we discussed using a Syntocinol drip as my contractions were still too random and I was only 5 cms. I then rose to 7cms but was dilating unevenly. As I'd been awake since Sunday night apart from catnaps between contractions on Tuesday night (not fun as I had to get up for each contraction every 8 mins), I opted for an epidural to get some rest and I knew the drip would make my contractions even more painful. By that point the tens machine was adding to the pain rather than helping and gas and air made me pretty uncommunicative which my DH hated.

The epidural did not work completely first time and I still had pain on the right hand side, so after I don't know how long, it was adjusted and sorted. I still had sensation and with monumental effort could move my legs about. We got some rest, not sleep and by 0700 on 14th I was fully dilated. Their policy at the JR is to let you wait an hour at full dilation before pushing so you're absolutely ready. As the midwife was due to go off shift, I got the green light to push early, but nothing was happening. It turned out the baby's head was ever so slightly at a funny angle and they think she had turned in labour from back to back but hadn't fully made the switch.

They called in the consultant who after letting me push for 30 mins discussed helping me out. Then the baby went into distress, but nobody told me until I happened to see my notes afterwards. Terrified of forceps and episiotemies, the consultant promised me that there would be no heroics at getting the baby out and if it looked like I needed an episiotemy and high forceps she would go for a c section. As it was all the baby needed was gentle forceps round her little nut to get her into the correct position and she was out in 2 pushes. I was numbed up to an unbelievably high level as despite my size I kept feeling the spray the doc was applying so that took an age to wear off and I was finally allowed up to post natal from recovery at 2100 that night. 3 sleepless nights later I was allowed home as my blood pressure was worrying them.

Silversky The JR is great. They were very understaffed but really did their absolute best.

I had a 2nd degree tear which after a week of very much painful agony is finally sorting itself out. Slightly worryingly one of the perineal stitches popped yesterday night and bled a bit, but it looks ok and is no longer that painful. I am exhausted from blood loss, low hb levels and high BP and it feels like I've run a marathon when all I've done is walk 50 yards. To make up for that the baby is a dream.

What do you think of Holly Bronwen or Bronwen Holly?

Ivytheterrible · 22/10/2010 20:10

we got our 20/10/2010 baby!

Sorry for not posting earlier but it's been a mad 48 hours!

Weds evening went into established labour naturally after all around 6pm. She had turned round and was back to back to was getting all the pain down my spine so used TENS at home for an hour or so. Midwife came round and checked me and I was dilated enough to go into the home birthing pool. About an hour later I was in it - instant relief on my back for the moment. Laboured in pool and used entonox for last hour or so when I couldn't take it any more with just breathing!

Baby Imogen was born at 11.20 on 20/10/2010 after 20 mins of pushing.

Since then have found breast feeding hard - she will only latch onto one breast. Have started pumping the one she won't go on to try and stimulate more production - hasn't worked yet but we'll see how it all goes over the weekend. Last night was hell on earth - crying until 6am but have had about 7 hours today so hopefully I can cope better tonight if she won't sleep.

Will read rest of thread now to see what I've missed!

Vikks · 22/10/2010 20:44

Ivy Congratulations on the birth of Imogen! And she?s got a great birthday. Hope the BF gets easier soon. X

BackAgain Congratulations and welcome little Lucas, I?ll look forward to your story!

Elsa That sounds like one marathon birth, glad you?re home and recovering. I like Holly Bronwen! Smile

Hermya Hope you?re not waiting too much longer. X

Well nothing much to report from ?Team Overdue? here. I went for a third sweep today which they couldn?t properly do again. I?ve got my fourth booked in for Sunday morning, I must try not to build my hopes up for that one. It has been a very tough day to get through, when I woke up this morning I felt quite positive. Since the appointment I feel like I?ve been in a black hole. The hospital has said if they are quiet on Monday they might be able to get me in then, if not Wednesday. It?s not looking good for my water birth.
40+9! Sad Sad Sad

Ivytheterrible · 22/10/2010 20:44

Great to read so many successful and happy birth stories.

Vikks - (over)due date bud - I hope the sweeps have worked for you by now!

Forgot to say birthweight was 7lb 15 - very good size considering bump at term was only measuring 32 weeks!

sam12 · 22/10/2010 21:31

Congratulations to all the new arrivals.
Elsa I'm feeling your pain with the 2nd degree tear but ten days on it's feeling almost better
Hope team overdue will start moving soon

Have been reading all the posts but by time I've caught up I'm usually interrupted by a hungry baby or am too tired to think of anything to write!

Dd is doing really well and despite the hospitals negativity about feeding her expressed milk, they said I should just go straight to formula, she is piling on the weight and I am managing to keep up with her and not had to use any formula
Anyway just wanted to check in x

floozietoozie · 22/10/2010 21:35

Yay another baby. Congrats Backagain. Speedy too eh? Well done!

Well not so good news from here. Dd hasn't gained anything since Mon so I'm going back on the express train... I gave also stocked up on fenugreek tablets, fennel tea and believe it or not on bfing experts' (plural) advice, non-alcoholic lager to boost milk supply! We're going to neighbours for tea so good timing!

Ooh I thought I'd posted this hours ago. Back from neighbours now.

floozietoozie · 22/10/2010 21:43

Blimey miss a few hours and there's another baby. Congratulations Ivy!

Xavielli · 22/10/2010 21:49

Ivy sounds like a lovely birth in the end! Imogen is a beautiful name.

Elsa Holly and Bronwen are both lovely, and go well together either way.

Vikks Fingers crossed you get underway very soon. Just remember that either way, in a very short time you'll be cuddling your baby.

shieldbug · 23/10/2010 00:00

Congratulations Ivy. I'm so glad someone managed 20102010. Imogen is another great name. Hope you manage to get the bf problem sorted ok.

vikks seems like my 2nd sweep didn't work either. Is the Monday date to go in for induction? Like you, I've been told I'll only be let in for induction if they're not too busy in the labour ward. Aaargh...how long can they make a woman wait?

elsa what a marathon! Ouch..the tear and stitches sound painful. Hope you heal soon. Bronwen and Holly are both lovely names and like Xavi I agree either way round sounds good.

hermya hoping it's all go for you!

Well, dh and sproglet are not going to share a birthday, so that's good. I had a long walk this afternoon (which half killed me!) and curry this evening, but somehow I doubt either will have any effect. 41 weeks today (Saturday)

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 23/10/2010 00:05

Ivy congrats! Good name choice ;) I hope she settles for you and gives you some rest soon. Cool birthdate!
