nymphadora · 04/11/2010 04:41

SamanthaB123 · 04/11/2010 05:43

I am so tired I can barely see...good luck ILGH!

DillyDora · 04/11/2010 08:19

good luck ILGH!

nymph way way waaay too much tv!

ok, a tricky night, Toby seems to have forgotten how to latch on but then he fell asleep and we slept for 3 hrs - dh reckons that's more than most new mums get per night so...how many hours do you reckon you're getting?

vikks that sounds grim, hope you feel much better soon

xx

nymphadora · 04/11/2010 08:22

dilly our max between feeds is 4 hours. Pretty much usually 3 - 3 1/2

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 04/11/2010 08:27

Good luck Ilgh!! How exciting!

So now dd has conjunctivitis as well as a snotty nose-don't you love big brothers!! So she is getting bm on it and o think a dr trip to make sure all ok, grrrrrrr

Sleep- about 5-7hrs a night, sometimes more but in 1.5-2 hrs bits from 8pm to 7am. I can't nap on day as it's a mission to get both to sleep simultaneously!! Feel ok though, surprisingly :)

Right, off to get my day going-today is day 1 of expressing and trying to get dd onto a bottle once a day for my sanity!

Xavielli · 04/11/2010 08:28

Good luck ILGH! Hope everything is going well!

Xavielli · 04/11/2010 08:29

ps. Will post birth story soon. Can't seem to find 5 mins between school runs and feeding. Finn is doing very well tho, saw midwife yesterday and he has lost a little (down to 7lb6oz) but is such a guzzler I'm not too worried about it!

BionicEar · 04/11/2010 10:03

Hello!

Congrats to all those of you who have produced since I was last on here.

Been a stressful few days as we ended up back in hospital. Sad David started having lots of twitching/jerking movements when he was 2 days old, and these were increasing in lenght every time he was asleep. Rang the maternity unit for advice and was told to take him to Casualty, and was subquently admitted to the Children's Ward. Was only let out yesterday (Wed) afternoon.

David also had a mild infection which showed up in blood tests so had to have anti bios.

The twitching/jerking thing they have decided is "benign neonatal myoclonic jerks" which he will grow out of and won't cause any lasting damage. In layman terms, it is sort of a sleep disorder where you act out your dreams, but as baby is so young brain hasn't fully developed enough yet to control movement of the body. Everyone will twitch in their sleep, but this was extreme twitching/jerking which is why it gave us cause for concern, particularly as there 4 generation worth of family on the DH who fit as babies.

Couldn't fault the care and support that we recieved on the Children Ward. As a BF mum they took extra special care of me too, feeding me when I needed food, and looking after David when I needed a nap or a wash. In fact they were all fighting to hold David as he is such a sweet little baby! Grin

David had to have some tests, but won't get result of the brain activity scan (ECC?) for a few days or so. Have to go back in few weeks for follow up appointment.

We've been overwhelmed by support from our family and church, whether it's been to visit us, look after DD, look after David when I needed to be checked out for pains (have pulled muscle in my back), pray, feed us - particularly loved the giant bag of chocolate one of my mates brought!

Was so lovely to get home yesterday and be a family of 4. Gave David his 1st bath last night which DD was very keen to help with. He loved it, even though she was manically throwing water all over him! Grin

Last night he slept for 5 hours solid before waking to be fed - am well impressed and hoping that will continue! Muat like his bed eh?! Wink

Right well I'm going to take off now as want to go for a wash and get dressed.

Hope you all have a great day, and for those still waiting (how many left now?) hopefully today may be the day for you!

sam12 · 04/11/2010 13:20

ILGH hope that everything is going well and we will soon be reading your anouncement.

nymph will check out the sure start for the baby massage. Thanks for the tip. As I am not registered at the Drs where I live my mw was from out of my area so I don't really know what is on offer in this area- will have to go to the drop in clinic and find out.

Dilly 3 hours sounds about right. I am sleeping through two naps so am getting about six hours a night- but with about an hour and half in the middle for feed/nappy change. I just need to try and get her to sleep more normal hours now.

sea hope that dd gets better soon

Bionic am sorry to hear that you have been through such a stressful time. Am glad that it hasn't turned out to be too serious and that everyone rallied around to support you.

AbFabT · 04/11/2010 16:21

Bionic, sorry to hear about the dramas, but glad you were well looked after and things are ok.
Sea, sorry your LO is poorly too.

ILGH, thinking of you.

sam12, I was told they shouldn't swim until they have had their jabs at three months. Please let me know if you hear otherwise.

Just had a lovely splurge at Baby Gap - great sale on, around half price, bargains galore. I bought some cute black items, I know not everyone likes black on a baby, but I think it's gorgeous.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 04/11/2010 17:09

Hi. Genevieve Maryam Justine arrived at 10.23 am here in Bahrain. Weighs 6lb 15 oz and is lovely. Will post more later.

nymphadora · 04/11/2010 17:15

Congrats ILGH Love the name Genevieve!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 04/11/2010 17:19

Congratulations Ilgh and welcome Genevieve!! Can't wait to hear all your news :)

Vikks · 04/11/2010 17:33

Congratulations ILGH! Enjoy your LO x

sam12 · 04/11/2010 17:53

Congratulations ILGH enjoy your baby snuggles Smile

Abfab I was told they are ok from birth so have just checked it out to be sure and you don't have to wait till their jabs you can take them anytime.

Hermya321 · 04/11/2010 18:03

Congratulations LIGH!!

Abfab Nope you don't have to wait until their jabs.

I'm having boob issues today, the right one seems to have regressed back to day three and has engorged. I did find some blocked ducts and a milk blister last night. Gosh it's all so glamourous isn't it.

DS is doing well, I suspect as far as he's concerned as long as there is milk on tap it's all good.

Great news, ILGH, and I too love the name Genevieve.

Hm. Why was I told that then, about the swimming thing? The children's swimming instructor at my gym was the one who told me!

nymphadora · 05/11/2010 07:45

That's what the rule used to be on swimming abfab I assumed it still was

DillyDora · 05/11/2010 09:40

ILGH Congratulations my lovely! Loving the name! Enjoy your girl now she's here... hope you're not too sore.

Hermya sorry about boob issues, I have days like that too - get baby on the 'problem' boob and it will sort out. If you have a pump you could express a bit (or do it by hand) to get it more comfortable for Asher to latch on.

abfab shopping - nice!

Bionic what a frightening time! So glad it was 'nothing'.

Thanks for sleep updates! We had a mellow night last night after a HUGE bottle of EBM (thank DH for administering that!) so probably got 2 lots of 3 hrs. Woke up before Toby this morning and watched him sleep/wake up which I LOVE!!!!!

Have a good day all!

Hermya321 · 05/11/2010 10:39

Dilly That sounds lovely, problem boob seems to be righting itself. I suspect because I sleep on that side it's caused a bit of pressure on the poor thing. I slept on the other side and it's much better this morning.

Nymph Abfab The back of the bounty book (because it is the authority on all things baby HmmWink) said that you didn't have to wait.

DS went on a feeding frenzy last night, sleep deprivation and me is not a good mix. I ended up thrusting DS at DH this morning after the fifth hourly feed shouting 'I'm not feeding him anymore' and promptly breaking down into tears. Dh has taken DS out in the pram for a bit this morning which has allowed me to shower in peace.

DS is a cheeky little monkey.

Bionic How scary, glad everything seems fine now

ILGH congrats :)

nymphadora · 05/11/2010 11:55

hermya I was crap by the second feed last night. That was on the difficult side & dd3 was more interested in licking Hmm and the milk was pouring down me!

Actual comedy moment last night when dd3 was feeding & I was sat on settee facing dh. She sat up suddenly & was sick so I was cleaning her up & forgot to pull up breast pad so milk was squirting all over me & dh Grin

nymphadora · 05/11/2010 16:21

Everyone stuck feeding? We've been to bf group again this pm. Still mainly toddlers & babies with bottles Hmm but I'm trying to talk to people!
Think we are getting a new car, dh saw one at garage in town earlier & has had a drive & took his back for a quote! My strop over his 3 door car must have kicked in Blush

Katy86 · 05/11/2010 16:22
