Woke up this morning with pains that were a mixture between period pains and wind! They have been very infrequent and I doubt anything significant will happen before I'm induced this evening, but at least it might mean that I respond to the hormones more quickly (I hope). Since it's the first sign that my body has recognised the need to actually DO something, I'm feeling rather pleased.

ILGH Hope all goes well this morning. Sinusitis is the last thing you need right now.

Silver Hope the appointment goes well today and the sweep isn't too uncomfortable. Good idea to take HI with you. Mind you, whenever dh and I have gone to appts together, I'm always amazed at how different his account is from mine afterwards. He'll quote things that I'm sure i never heard the consultant say and I think he feels the same about me!

Bionic hope the sweep worked and that it starts things for you.

honeymoo how's it going? Have the BH developed into anything?

vikks keep hoping for some good news from you soon. Hope everything is going well.

BackAgain · 27/10/2010 11:39

Have eventually managed to catch up and congratulations to all those who have had babies recently Jesse, Elsa, Ivy, Moon, Hermya and Roobear. Hope I have not missed anyone.

Hope those that are still waiting have some positive news today - thinking of you

Bionic I experienced the 'hungry baby' yesterday day after milk came in but due to engorgement have had to express and use a bit of formula to meet demand.

Xav thanks for tip about mobile version I can now read posts during night time feeds but not dexterous enough to post as yet!

Muggle the two Lucas's are not peas in a pod - mine is a sleeper and needs to be woken for feeds!

As for us, things are going OK, Lucas lost 10% of body weight on monday (day 3) and couldn't feed due to engorgment so pumping instead. Breasts went down yesterday so am managing to BF as well as use the expressed milk. He is still very sleepy but at mw check today he had gained 8oz!! so am very happy and am going to try moving to 4 hrly feeds so I can get a bit more sleep. It is very time consuming to do 1/2 hour expressing, a nappy change (to wake him up) an expressed milk bottle feed and then a BF if he will take it, then another nappy change as he usually poos at some point during the procedure!

As for me, stitches are healing ok, been using a lavender oil perineal compress (5 drops lavender oil with table spoon almond oil on a maternity pad) after hot lavender oil baths which has helped loads. SPD is easing too so starting to feel much better and on top of things - even managed to do some ironing yesterday as had run out of clothes. DD is coping well with the new arrival but we are struggling to keep her to her routine (DH is being a bit lax and I am otherwise engaged) so she has been getting overtired and mardy.

Sorry for long post - had a lot of catch up on. Looking forward to hearing some more baby news soon.

moonstorm · 27/10/2010 16:46

Hello all - don't have nuch time to post now. Only got 2 hours sleep last night Shock but the baby is worth it Grin.

Hope the rest of the babies come soon. (((())) to all who need one.

Have now got Thrush in my breasts, which is making feeding painful, but have medicine now, so hopefully things'll be back on track soon.

I'm doing the 'if he squeaks/ roots, then feed him thing' seems to be working well - calm house, baby hardly cries, but it is tiring Smile.

Wondering how other's older dc's are doing? Ds seems to reallly like the baby, but is challenging us a lot at bedtime etc. so /i think he is still feelking insecure - trying to reassure him lots.

Take care all x

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 27/10/2010 16:55

Hi everyone! Got my mum staying, it's bliss :)

Moonstorm-it's hard work with dd and Ds-I'm dreading being a full time mum without help! It'd going to be tough until the feeding settled and I'm freer. I'm demand feeding too-great for supply but tiring!

Dd is doing really well thank goodness- 98 percentile for wt and height!!

SilverSky · 27/10/2010 17:45

Hello!

Short and sweet update from me- another failed sweep as cervix soft buy not open. I am booked in for an induction unless labour kicks off on it's own accord before the weekend.

Have total mixed emotions about it all.

HI was star today. Hopefully he'll be as brill when I need him most.

Seem to have developed backache..... Wonder if it's a sign?!

shieldbug · 27/10/2010 19:10

Silver hope it is a sign and you don't need induction. Glad to hear HI was good at the appt. They do have their uses!!

Well, I'm going in for induction in less than an hour....wish me luck!! I've been having mild irregular contractions since this afternoon, so hopefully I'll respond quickly to induction. Hope they don't decide to leave me to my own devices though as I don't think anything natural will happen very soon. Will post when I'm back home, so radio silence can be interpreted as a good sign!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 27/10/2010 19:36

Goodluck shieldbug!!

Good luck shieldbug

floozietoozie · 27/10/2010 23:49

too late to read it but good luck Shieldbug!! see you on the other side.

Seashells and Moonstorm ds is being good but it's really hard work. Dp is doing the essential stuff eith him but he's not exactly a happy bunny about it some of the time and where I would be taking ds outto stuff aswell he's too tired to by and large and let's him watch telly - he's become a real addict. Ds is more work because of disability which is unfortunate for us because if situation with dp's health and my post op recovery and bfing time commitment.

AbFabT · 28/10/2010 00:31

Good luck, shieldbug!

BionicEar · 28/10/2010 01:19

Hello!

Well booking carpet man for D-day has done the trick - my waters have broken! Grin

Been to the hossy, they checked me over and sent me home again as not really having any contractions. They did warn that it might not happen til Friday, so will have to wait and see. Am booked in for Fri to be speeded up if nowt happens today.

Have been in a right grumpy mood all day and started cleaning the kitchen manically when suddenly felt that I was trickling, so went off to the loo, and then I had a lot of gushing, although this has now tallied off back into a dribble. A weird experience indeed!

Right well I'm off to bed to get some kip - might be my last chance to get any sort of sleep!

Will keep you updated, unless it all kicks off and in that case will let you know baby has arrived! Grin

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 28/10/2010 02:50

Bionic-how exciting!! Good luck!

Poor dd is being kept awake by the foul cold ds bought home from nursery, great, poor love she is so snuffly.

Floozie-you have got your hands full :( hopefully things will get easier when feeding is less frequent etc. I'm using a sling more this time so I can
chase Ds easier. I'm also interested in how it will be without visitors- it's been constant for ages now and not all are as easy going as mum Wink

sam12 · 28/10/2010 07:06

Good luck shield and bionic hope to be reading your announcements very soon.

I take my hat off to those of you with older children as well- I don't know how you have the time or energy as a new born is so consuming.

sea I'm the same with visitors - I though when dh went back to work I could settle into my new way of life but the visitors keep coming! I'm not going to complain though as I'm sure I will feel lost when they stop coming!

Anyway dd has fallen asleep so am going to try and get another hour or two in myself

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 28/10/2010 07:25

floozie and others- have you seen the last post on our old thread? Strange.

My john simm education continues- life of mars from episode one with dh. Before anyone asks the last 10yrs were spent drinking/working all hours/small child etc - I seem to have missed every decent series ever made!! Further recommendations welcome Grin

SilverSky · 28/10/2010 09:00

Go bionic!

I have reflexologist coming later. Fingers xd she can work some magic.

nymphadora · 28/10/2010 09:02

DVD recommendations-Doll house, we've just finished series 2. It's another Joss Whedon (Buffy) series

Good luck bionic

floozietoozie · 28/10/2010 09:31

Seashells I can explain the link on the old thread. It's dp Blush. He's a writer by trade abd decided to do a blog about our child having experiences partly as a way to promote his work. He's just trying to publicise it. Of course it means my private life gets splurged all over the internet with my real name on it but hey-ho.

dd has caught my cold and has a bit of a temp. I don't have a thermometer here with me (at mums) although my sis may. Supposed to be seeing friend later. Wonder if I should just keep dd in but we're only going in car to her house and she is a gp so I could get some unofficial advice from her!

Hermya321 · 28/10/2010 09:41

Good luck today shield!

Me and LO should hopefully be going home today. He's doing really well, breast feeding is going well and am using a demand feeding approach. Things have been a bit more busy with regards to me but hopefully I'm sorted for the most part now. I'll post more later. I hope you're all well.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 28/10/2010 09:48

Hey floozie! I hoped it would be :) !

Good suggestions Nymph, Im tempted by sopranos too, but get the feeling it might take forever and a day!!!

BackAgain · 28/10/2010 10:49

Floozie - love DP's blog entry but if you would rather I didn't read please say so and I shall resist

Hope everyone is well today and those that are still waiting are either no longer waiting or at least have some positive signs.

Had a good night if not much sleep, Lucas is stubbornly staying on 3hrly feeds so we will go with that for the time being. On a positive note he is starting to latch much quicker now that breasts are a more manageable size and the edge has been taken off his hunger by the EBM. The trick is to wake up before he does so I can get the pumping in before he starts crying.

My next OU course starts next week so going to try and do some reading before the next round of pumping and feeding.
