Aw, Silver. Hang in there! It will be worth it in the end, and you'll forget all this!

Woo hoo,. Roo. Many congratulations! I do like a bit of alliteration in a name too!

Good luck, Vikks. Hurry back with news!

SilverSky · 25/10/2010 18:41

Fanks everyone. moo he is a Burk. I have been in tears and almost didn't go to the stables as didn't want the attention of everyone asking how things are. I frog marched the dog on a walk for 30 odd mins in a bid to help.

I was buyin RL Tea and even the bloody woman behind the counter asked me how long I had to go. I ended up barking I'm overdue and best not to talk about it. TBF she was very nice and changed the subject.

MW has said go to hossie appt and get them to have another bash at a s&s, if they won't I am to call the clinic for another appt that same day and I have an appt at the clinic for Fri. MW also suggested looking on Internet for ideas to kick start labour naturally. Also suggested that if hossie want to induce me I can say no but will have to go for assessments etc.

Basically MW said inductions for first babies are hard going and can be long and intense and more often than not end up with intervention. Now I have visions of ending up with a c sect.

Has not been a good day for me.

Good luck vikks!

Erin is another super name!

nymphadora · 25/10/2010 20:12

Congrats roo & good luck vikks and anyoneelse still waiting.

On mob typing with wrong hand hence quietness!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 25/10/2010 20:55

Congratulations Roo- i love the name Erin :)

Good luck Vikks xxx

Lo has a cold - very snuffly but still feeding, hopefully will be quick recovery.

shieldbug · 25/10/2010 22:01

Congratulations Roo and welcome Erin. She sounds gorgeous with dark curls. What a shame you just missed the 20th! Ouch to forceps and stitches. Hope you recover quickly.

Silver I don't know about the induction of first babies being any worse than others. I haven't been told anything about that and I called up today specially to ask for details. They are expecting that it will probably take 2 pessaries, a drip AND waters to be broken, but I'm still expected to give birth the next day. I've not heard about being more likely to need intervention. It could simply be that first timers are more likely to be nervous and have too much adrenaline for labour to progress effectively. (Can you tell I'm trying to reassure myself as well?). My advice to myself is to try not to stress, remember that adrenaline is not my friend and not to expect the worst. I do sympathise- I was in tears this afternoon at the thought of having to be induced rather than being able to do it all naturally and just being fed up with everything. Then again at least induction means that I know by the end of this week I will have a baby!! Smile.

Ivytheterrible · 26/10/2010 04:52

Well done all new mums

roo we gave birth within 50 mins of each other Wink

vikks today is the day whoop whoop

silver and shieldbug hope you pop before induction but if not it all goes smoothly.

In other news my daughters cord stump stinks of rotton eggs am I supposed to clean it? I thought you were just meant to leave them?

BionicEar · 26/10/2010 06:11

Morning! Am up early as woke up hungry and had a sore back. So having consummed some toast am now bouncing on my ball as I type this!

Roo - congrats! Love the name for your little one by the way. Smile

Vikks how exciting it's all about to happen for you - look forward to hearing your news once you get time to post.

Silver & Shieldbug I was induced with DD1 - only took 1 pessarie with me for it to kick start everything. Did have to have my waters broken and has some inventention at end (not c sec before you panic!), but that was cos DD got stuck due to big head! Grin Don't stress too much each person is different and just cos you're being induced doesn't mean it will be horrendous. Try to relax and go with the flow.

Well today could be Induction Day for me as got my consultant appointment this arrvo and due to "Sleeping Lions" game of Wriggly Bump they may well decide to induce me, although am hoping they will leave me be to go naturally as offically due this Thurs, but who knows?! So if I go quiet, you'll know where I'll be! Smile

Think postive! Think postive!

Ivy - you should be able to clean around cord with warm water and cotton wool. If concern about the smell contact your MW for more advice in case it is an infection. Easily sorted out if it is, so don't fret!

Right well I'm still hungry so going to see what else I can eat in the house! I'll be the big fat pg lady waddling around later if you see me, and it might not just be baby that casuing me to be fat! Grin

39+5

floozietoozie · 26/10/2010 09:16

Roo congratulations! My DN is Erin, great name. In fact sge is coming to meet dd today for the first time.

Silver Shieldbug and Bionic good luck with inductions/labour if they end up happening today. The numbers are counting down now. You three, ILGH,, xav, Honeymoo, and thirdtimer. Is thee anyone else of regular posters left? Still no word from Dilly of course. And Vikks we assume is in the throes as I type.. Good luck.

rollerbaby · 26/10/2010 09:34

I'm still here! Bored mind!

Thought it might have been yesterday with back to back BH all afternoon/evening, but no...

BackAgain · 26/10/2010 10:10

Hello

sorry been awol - had forgotten how much time is needed for feeding at first plus we had lots of visitors at the weekend. Haven't caught up with posts yet so hope to have a good read later and catch up with who else has had their babies.

Here is the birth story:

irregular contractions started at 1am on Friday morning, started to get more regular and intense about 4am so woke DH and called his mum to watch DD. Arrived at the hospital at 6am and was 4cm dilated on arrival. Had to wait in the corridor while the birthing room was prepared having very strong contractions. I got in water birth pool about 7am and pretty soon was ready to push. Lucas born just before 8am so pain relief was the water and gas and air. As he came quite quick he was a little bruised as was I - second degree tear! Have to say being stitched up (again) was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced.

Had to stay in hospital for rest of day waiting for the paediatrician check.

Since then things have been OK though struggling to get breast feeding established esp on one side. Milk came in yesterday so have been very engorged so have been pumping for relief. Lucas is a very placid baby and really needs to be woken for feeds - he would sleep all day and night if allowed! I am still a bit sore from the stitches but every day I feel a little bit better.

Anyway going to catch up on what has been happening in the last few days so will be back later

Hope everyone is OK and those that are waiting are not too frustrated

nymphadora · 26/10/2010 12:07

Good luck to those still waiting, nearly there now!

It's got a bit quieter as everyone is feeding & being visited.

We had our first rough night last night. Poor dh spent most of it trying to wind dd3. She grizzled for hours & I was exhausted after a too busy day yesterday. Eventually she was sick at 4:30 and settled straight away. Couldn't even let him lie in this am as friends are coming for lunch!

nymphadora · 26/10/2010 12:11

Oh & yesterday we went to visit my Nanna & dd3 sat on her knee for ages staring at her. When we were on the way home, we were talking & realised that dd3 may not remember her as she is 97 now & quite frail :( v sad moment

SilverSky · 26/10/2010 14:22

bug and floozie and fabulous - thanks for the advice and motivational pep talks. Much needed.

I reckon next week will be the week for me.

SamanthaB123 · 26/10/2010 17:29

Just popping in quickly to see what's going on. We are much quieter now we are either in labour or nursing our babes! I can't remember who I've congratulated and who I haven't now...congratulations to all the new arrivals!

All well here, went to see NCT breastfeeding counsellor this morning as we are having some feeding discomfort. We have a mild tongue tie but we won't think about snipping until much later. We're going to try other strategies first. Midwife also came, we are back at birthweight today which is good. It's clearly only me suffering with feeding, Ruby is very happy!

Any news from Dilly?

rollerbaby · 26/10/2010 17:47

Urgh more back to back BH today - it can't be long surely!!

SilverSky · 26/10/2010 18:15

I feel a queue jumper coming on!!! moo sounds like your bod is preparing itself fo' sho' ! Exciting!

shieldbug · 26/10/2010 18:25

Oooh exciting honeymoo! Hope it all happens soon for you, even if as silver* says, you are a queue jumper Wink

Silver hope you are feeling better about things today.

Backagain it all sounds quick but painful! Wishing you a speedy recovery from it all. Lucas sounds lovely.

Vikks and bionic hope all is going well.

Nothing at all happening here except feeling even more enormous! Sproglet is evidently not going to arrive without some serious encouragement! 40 +10

shieldbug · 26/10/2010 18:26

oops sorry for random bold words in post!

SilverSky · 26/10/2010 20:38

Have come to terms with the overdue side of things. Going to try reflexology.

40+8 (allegedly!)

nymphadora · 26/10/2010 20:45

samB dd3 has slight tongue tie too according to her notes but no one mentioned it. I wondered if that's why I'm sonetimes sore but think it's more cos she is over enthusiastic!

BionicEar · 26/10/2010 21:11

Evening all!

Well went to hossy saw lovely lady dr. After checking me over and doing a sweep (ouch! Forgotten how painful that is!) she went and consulted with head honcho before coming back and saying that they would leave baby alone for now, seeing as baby been happy last couple of days since Sat.

Got to go back next Tues for another check up and sweep, unless things kick off by themselves.

Have had sore tummy since going, and some discharge but that probably due to the prodding I expect! Still be good if that was a sign that the sweep worked.

Right well I'm off as very tired and want to chill before bed.

SilverSky · 26/10/2010 22:12

bio I can sympathise - when the MW did the VE with the intention of doing the sweep, I knew it wasn't going to be a relaxing experience but flipping heck it was sooooo uncomfortable bordering on painful and then when she pressed down on my tum also I wasn't sure how much More I could take. My tum also feels sore after a MW appt in general with just a bit of pushing and prodding so I know where you are coming from.

So tmw is my appt with the hossie. HI is coming with so he can ask his own sodding questions instead of quizzing me and also be a bit of a voice when they start talking about induction. MW also said to ask if they would see if they could do a sweep tmw. Something to look forward to I don't think!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 27/10/2010 08:44

Boo. Got sinusitis. Having acupuncture this morning to help baby release and clear sinuses.

Hope the sweeps work silver and bionic.
