TBG has done it again with the lovely comments. This one, on seeing me just out of the bath, was "wow, look at the size of your veins. You look like you've been flayed".

I have had Words. And told him he had to say three nice things about me. Apparently I have lovely boobs, a lovely bump, and my bum is looking spectacular. That is more like it.

Medee · 24/10/2010 22:38

excellent recovery there.

Muser · 24/10/2010 22:56

He's alright at times. Did you have a good weekend away? We are off for a midweek break on Wednesday. I have just discovered the spa and am wondering if I can afford the pregnancy massage.

Medee · 25/10/2010 08:50

It was great, thanks. At a wedding reception in Pitlochry and took the scenic route, through stunning Glenshee, there and back. Great Scottish Autumnal weather (fecking freezing though!)

MrsFC · 25/10/2010 11:12

muse the FC and TBG must never meet. I worry they would entertain ach other TOO much.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 25/10/2010 11:22

'Lo all
On mat leave now - well took my outstanding hols this week and mat leave starts next week. Should be all the same except I rashly promised to finish two work tasks and really need to focus and get them done today or I will doubtless drag them out and ruin my week.

Honey I am interested in your itchy shins[hgrin] Do you find you are just a bit more itchy than usual in general? I do, and because this has also affected my hands and feet and because I am a paranoid crazy, I had a blood test last week to check for obstretic cholastris. Guess it was negative as otherwise my doctor should have called me. The itch contnues though....actually, it would not be accurate to describe the itching as unbearable at all - it's quite manageable though not the nicest. It's just unusual - so good to hear that you have been having something similar. Do people just itch a bit more at the end of pregnancy? Of course the bump is itchy, but also every where else too... Tell me you feel it too? Okie? Silver? Do you feel itchy at all in between falls in and out of the bath?[hsmile]

Stretch marks, eh Sad? I had been quietly patting myself on the back up until yesterday, when I spotted them making their sneaky way up from the underside of the bump. I don't have a huge bump, I'm just 37 weeks and I have been moisturising religiously with a special oil from Weleda. So no, I am now convinced that there's not much you can do about them. They are a violent shade of violet. I'm hoping when they go colourless they won't be that bad...

rollerbaby · 25/10/2010 11:30

Wahey for maternity leave witty! Drag those jobs out and make sure you leave enough time for loafing!

I'm not overly itchy no. I do moisturise everywhere a bit more religiously so not finding it too bad. And haven't really had itchy bump (more under boobage). I think it's fact that skin is drier so I wouldn't worry unless it really is unbearable. If you've got the heating on, probably doesn't help.

Dog woke me up at 5am this morning - got cross with him because it shouldn't be him disturbing MY sleep!! Everyone of course got back to sleep except me... grrr.

SilverSky · 25/10/2010 12:07

witto some days the bump is mega fiesty with itching. Other than that tis ok.

Welcome to the world of maternity leave!!!!!!

Muser · 25/10/2010 13:43

Good luck with your scan this afternoon Medee!

Medee · 25/10/2010 13:49

thanks, Muse.

Happy Mat Leave, Witty!

I've been moisutrising when I remember, which isn't terribly often.

Scorpette · 25/10/2010 13:56

Good luck for your scan, Meddler! And Yay for Witty's ML!

Looking forward to hearing scan details Meds!

PollyPoo · 25/10/2010 15:54

Good luck for the scan Meds!

Medee · 25/10/2010 17:00

Hello, am back. Baby wasn't co-operating, it had its back to us, right at the bottom of my womb all in a ball, so we couldn't get a proper look at the spine and internal organs. Face and brain and limbs all looking good though. We go back on Friday for another go. Sonographer was lovely, talked us through everything as she went.

Muser · 25/10/2010 17:02

Glad the bits that could be seen were good and you got a good sonographer. Hope the baby spins round a bit for next time. Jump up and down a lot between now and Friday!

MrsFC · 25/10/2010 18:01

Great that you had a lovely sonographer meds, and hope you have a more co-operative baby next time - give it a good talking to!

witts hope you get your work done so you can enjoy lots of quality sofa time. I had terible bump itching last time, it hasn't hit me yet, but I reckon it will soon...

Scorpette · 25/10/2010 18:33

Shame about needing a second scan, Medway, but is great news about the face, brains and limbs and is also good that they're seeing you again so relatively quickly. I shall be playing 'You spin me right round' on Friday to encourage your baby to turn around so everything can be seen [hsmile]

Backinthebox · 25/10/2010 19:47

Have all of you with baybees still growing in you seen yet?

I can sympathise with the wrong way round baby thing Med. I spent an hour or so jumping up and down in the antenatal dept trying to get mine to turn round the right way for the scan. They saw what they needed to in the end though.

SilverSky · 25/10/2010 19:55

boxy that's cool!

rocketleaf · 25/10/2010 20:07

coolness seconded boxerbeat I particularly like the arrival at the egg with the "right here right now" vocal :o

rocketleaf · 25/10/2010 20:27

oh and can i just thank whoever recommended the slimming world chips to ourpette? I have just made them and they were MAYZIN!!! om nom

maswera · 25/10/2010 20:27

Blimey, that freaked me right out boxy. We've made a person

OkieCokie · 25/10/2010 20:32

That is great box I like.

Glad first scan went well Meds and lets hope the little blighter conforms a bit more later in the week.

Wit I have a friend who had severe itchiness and it was constant from about 36 weeks in hands/legs etc. She was induced early in the end - maybe it was the condition that you were tested for?? Something to do with the liver or something -sorry I don't know the full details but it was some medical condition.

Why are you feeling sorry for yourself Silv? Fed up of waiting?

rollerbaby · 25/10/2010 20:32

Everyone, Silver has had a right rubbish day. I'm sure she won't mind me saying. Hair strokes all round for her. MW threatening induction and the like... .

rocketleaf · 25/10/2010 20:39

Ah silvers thats sucks, hope for a better day tomorrow.

meds sorry forgot to say congrates on the scan, shame you have to go back but at least the sonographer sounds nice. better luck on friday.
