The old thread was getting quite full so I took the liberty of starting a new one, I hope nobody minds! I thought I'd keep in with our glowing and growing theme (I'm not very creative, sorry).

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
40Weeks · 22/10/2010 21:05

Happy to have a glass but it's the kids keeping me awake at night. Maybe should give them the wine!!

Thanks though [hgrin]

hornedtoadjennyp · 22/10/2010 21:31

My two are the same 40weeks - if it's not one falling out of bed, it's the other wetting themselves! Would love 8 hours right now and maybe even an afternoon nap as a bonus!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 22/10/2010 22:33

reading the last posts has made me realise how lucky i am! the only reason i'm not sleeping is bump trouble/ baby using bladder as a trampoline, i don't know how those of you with other children manage to stay upright through the day... [hgrin]. You all deserve medals.

40weeks- no no no no no! you are being unreasonable to get a BIT mad, I'd be raging mad! how about you book yourself a tropical holiday for a month after the baby is born and leave him to cope with a newborn, toddler and 4 yr old! I'm [hangry] for you and sending you a virtual punching bag to take your frustration out on.

hello scMacbt, we haven't met, sorry you've not been well but glad to hear things are looking up now.

i nearly shaved my wonderfully hairy bump tonight but decided not to because of itching when it grows back, i've had an itchy bump anyway (nothing serious, just a little bit) where the skin's stretching and now have fingers crossed it won't lead to stretch marks Confused

ledkr · 23/10/2010 09:46

40 wks. I am stil getting over the guilt of saying my dh shouldnt go to a 3 day med stag do in may!!!so you are not being unreasonable imo. It ps me right off these dos. What ever happened to a night out?
I havw had 4 dcs and was just out of the baby phase and am thrilled to be having our baby against the odds but im no keen to be left for 3 nights while he gos off galivanting. I told him it was ok but i would be going to Ibiza mayself when he cam e back(i have some mad partying friends out there) he soon changed his mind!!Also it was going to cost 500 without the spending money and ill be down to smp by then.
baby show was fab yesterday and dd is in love with Mylene??? Got some good bargains but then the coach didnt come as i had wrong stop on my ticket. Que a fifteen min walk with dd bags and spd to another stop waiting an hour in the cold before getting a12 quid taxi to victoria and having a massive meltdown in nat express office before they squeezed me onto a bus to Cirencester which meant dh could pick us up at 9.30. Needless to say am knackered and aching today it really was a complete nightmare. Got on bus and only a space at front and back so i put dd at front and explained that i would be at the back and pop down.Man next to her got stroppy and said surely there are seats at the back i dont want to babysit...he regretted it as this huge pg woman launched into a scathing attack about moving his arse himself-who was it said about rage-nice lady moved in the end restoring my faith in mankind. Rest of journey spent behind dd who was still next to said man who sighed everytime she moved, i am surprised he escaped with his life.
Sorry for long self centred post but i thought it would make you laugh and i soooo needed to share :0

knittakid · 23/10/2010 10:56

ledkr well done! I'm glad I'm not the only one making people move their arses see how their behaiviour is just out of order. It happens all the time on planes (when I'm in one) and I just don't understand it!

Re worries about baby stress during birth, I think I read somewhere that babies born vaginally are a wee bit more stressed when they are born, but that the adrenaline causing the stress is important to start off breathing and the 'massage' of going through the birth canal also kick starts other processes.

those with limited space at home "here www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1991915_1991909_1991746,00.html" is our solution! [hfrin]

knittakid · 23/10/2010 10:57

Oh why that does not work!!! and at the end it's supposed to be [hgrin]...

angels1 · 23/10/2010 11:46

knitta he he he at the baby cage. My Mum says she has the 'cage' she used with me and my sister (one of those ones you put on the floor to keep children in one place whilst playing etc, not the metal window ledge contraption [hwink] ) and apparently it was originally my Dads in the 50's, so not sure what kind of deadly lead paint etc might be on it Confused . Think I might have to give that one a miss!

ledkr how annoying re: the coach. I bet that really put a dampner on what would have been a really nice trip. Can't believe that man sitting next to your daughter had the nerve to moan yet not offer to move. I would have felt pure [hangry] rage. What bits did you get there?

Just watching Nigella on TV and grring at how she chops everything - just how I teach my students what NOT to do. sigh.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 23/10/2010 12:34

knittakid, brilliant! do they sell them at mothercare or john lewis?
thanks for the info re baby's stress during birth, I really want it to be as calm as possible for him but not sure i'll be able to control myself Confused.

ledkr i don't get the fuss with mylene, i'm sure she's a nice woman but what does she actually do? sounds like you managed to find one of the grumpiest men in britain on your bus, think i would've started asking dd questions about her health and did she feel any better now or was the fever still there? just to watch him squirm... Wink

have a 40th birthday party to go to tonight and not looking forward to sitting in the corner feeling ENORMOUS whilst OH drinks and dances.... plus i'm going to miss x factor, Blush

NeedToSleepZZZ · 23/10/2010 12:36

oh, angels, one day you will have to let me know how to chop as i have had numerous accidents with my fingers. i blame everything it on being left handed.

zerominuszero · 23/10/2010 15:38

knittakid what's not to like? Keeps baby safe, stops baby from wandering around the place, saves space... perfect!

ledkr · 23/10/2010 15:52

need to sleep i am not going out on any more "dos"untill i can drink with the rest of them and i am not a flippin taxi driver either! I cant really stand Mylene tbh and felt all bitchy at her in one of those dresses that looked like a festoon blind and she has a little bump and no arse at all its all flat and saggy-meeow.DD was with her ages and charmed her.
angels got good deal on my bottles 6 Tomme tippee and 2 dummys and some formula containers all for £20 with yrs subscription of prima baby so good. Got a gorgeous baby blanket then went to get it to put around dd whilst sat at cold bus stop and i had lost it!Looked at buggys but so hard to decide still. Also couldnt carry much to the coach especially if id known the nightmare that is to come.
I am crippled today from all the walking. Had a long bath which helped but just went to library with dd and can literally hardly walk and was having loads of braxton hicks too so have come back to rest.

smallblackflowers · 23/10/2010 17:57

knittakid [hgrin]

ledkr what a shame that a nightmare trip home ruined your day Sad. I've been getting loads of braxton hicks too - especially if I do anything physical..and when I mean physical I mean anything that doesn't involve me sitting down Smile.
The idea of body pump is highly amusing for that very reason!

My new pushchair / travel system (Jane Slalom R) arrived today and I LOVE it! So much nicer than my old 2nd hand Quinny buzz.

Oh and my new maternity pillow arrived yesterday (the theralite one that I linked to) and I had the best night's sleep last night that I have had in months, actually had a stretch of nearly 6 hours without waking when it's usually 2 hours.I didn't get the pillow case, but have had my sewing machine out today and have made one from some gorgeous fabric that I have had for ages waiting to be made into the right thing!

SlaughteredSheep · 23/10/2010 23:07

Hello!

Hope everyone has had a good Saturday!

I like that baby cage knitta but you never linked to where we can buy them! Do they do bigger ones for three year olds? [hgrin]

I'm so knackered! Got up early with DH who went to work for a couple of hours, I cleared out the conservatory and then when he got back we went out for lunch with some friends and their girls. Afterwards we went to an ice cream parlour which was fabulous! They had every flavour of ice cream you could imagine - iron bru, bubble gum, Christmas pudding, bonfire toffee crunch... Was gorgeous but they give you loads and we all felt ready to pop! They do gorgeous chocolates too. Mmm! Can't wait to go again, it was like a pregnant woman's paradise!

MissAndroid · 23/10/2010 23:15

Hello, I'm new to mumsnet and a first time mum to be. I'm due a little girl on 4th February, can't wait.
[hsmile]

hornedtoadjennyp · 24/10/2010 02:35

Welcome MissAndroid!

Oneof4 · 24/10/2010 08:32

Love the baby cage! My MIL (who I generally get on with well) mentioned the other day that playpens were a bad idea...not sure why. I might show her the baby cage and tell her I'd been thinking about what she said and thought this might be a better solution! He he he.

By the way, I was away for a few weeks and came back to some talk of loo roll measurements...what was that all about?

Hi MissAndroid!

angels1 · 24/10/2010 08:59

slaughtered mmmmmmm to the ice cream parlour [hgrin] . I remember having lavendar ice cream when I was in the south of france :)

ledkr glad you got a few nice bits even if everything else went pear shaped (despite losing the blanket). Are you going to write to the coach company to complain about your horrible experience? I've complained about things via letter when I've had bad experiences before over various things and you often get refund and/or money/vouchers. Last time I did this I got a £50 BA voucher just as I wrote a letter complaining that they didn't have my pre-ordered gluten free vegetarian lunch on the flight (they tried to give me a chicken salad, which isn't exactly veggie Shock ). Apparently you arn't allowed more than one special diet when flying with BA, but we used the voucher towards a flight on the following summers holiday [hgrin], which, incidently, they also got my meal wrong on!

Welcome missandroid

I'm so excited as we are now the proud owners of a baby feeding glider/rocker chair and footstall :) Very relaxing to sit in too I must say - they might never get me out of it once baby arrives.

Got lots of dead/pins and needles legs and hands last night waking me up all night again and they're still really tingly now. Anyone found anytrhing that actually helps this other than shaking hands and legs and putting them on a pillow to sleep (both of which I've tried)?

SlaughteredSheep · 24/10/2010 10:08

Lavender ice cream? Ooh, that sounds odd! I'm not too keen on the smell of lavender so not sure if I would like it. Did it taste nice Angels?

I'm jealous of your rocker! I bet it's so comfy.
I get tingly hands when I've walked a long way with DD's pushchair, which feels weird but I think it's more to do with the vibrations of the pushchair and then going from cold to warm. Has never happened during the night though. Does anyone know anything about Carpal Tunnel syndrome? I think that causes a pins and needles type feeling and it's common in pregnancy. Could be wrong though!

Hello and welcome MissAndroid! Congratulations on your little girl!

jackinthebump · 24/10/2010 12:54

Hello all, Welcome to the newbies! Ledkr, what a nightmare on the coach! I did the baby show with SIL yesterday and have ordered 2xcotbed with mattresses and a rocker glider chair!!!! Very excited, glad I pushed for a better deal than they were offering though as I checked the items when I got home and if I hadn't pushed for a lower price would have got the same deal as if I ordered from them online!Angry

Was a good day out and was very impressed when man on tube got up and gave me his seat as soon as he saw me! My faith in humanity is slowly being rebuilt! (Man at Dusseldorf airport security turned off scanner machine before letting me go through because of pregnancy too, normal we hate everyone attitude at Gatwick though!)

Overall a good day out at baby show though!

OOH, I think my favorite part of the day was a lady giving out Galaxy bars!!! We did try to find her again but unfortunately she was long gone!Grin

zerominuszero · 24/10/2010 21:33

Hello to the new faces around here! Hope everyone enjoyed this weekend's X Factor - you're not allowed to watch anything else round my way.

oneof4 Toilet Paper Tuesday is a highly scientific way of monitoring our progress by measuring our bumps in term of toilet paper. I actually didn't get round to it last Tuesday, which I will make up for this week. Last time I measured I was 8.5 sheets.

Well done at the baby show jackinthebump I've never been to one - are things any cheaper at those shows than they are in real life?

strathanna · 24/10/2010 21:45

Hello - I'm new here, finding it very confusing but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I'm due 23rd Feb, but having a section (had an emergency section last time) probably about the 16th.
Looking forward to chatting.
Anna

hornedtoadjennyp · 24/10/2010 23:17

Hello Anna (that's my dd's name - she's currently wearing her Dad's jumper and helping him make green tomato chutney! She's $) Hope you get as much out of this thread as I do.

zerominuszero · 25/10/2010 08:40

Happy night for us last night, I got dh to feel baby kick for the first time, in bed as I got baby to listen to classical music. She must have been dancing away in there, having a good time because she was wriggling all over the place. Anyone else play their bump music or is it just me? And who else is a teacher on half term this week? I'm staying in bed all morning...

jack you are rubbish. Me and dd came home with 15 bars of galaxy from the show only a few left tho.
Well hi everyone and welcome newbies.
I spent the day in hospital yesterday (am i the first on here?)
My breathlessness increased to an alarming rate and i felt very worried so rang hospital and they told me to go straight in.
Spent day being investigated had ecg monitored and blood tests. I have been diagnosed with severe aneamia and put on constipation inducing iron tabs and can not drink tea(my craving) for an hr either side of them and have to take 3x a day.
No wonder i've been so tired.Have been told to rest for a few days which for me is a week off as work Mon Tues and Wed. Great timing as is is half term so no expensive childcare needed.woo!
Am measuring 28 on the fundal height scale she said i was "big for dates"my babies have all been under 8lb so would be funny if i had a big un.
Being in there made me remember how much i dislike it. There were 2 families whi myself and my dh know thru worker-social worker and copper-need i say more. one bloke was drinking cider. They werent on my ward but am praying i get some nicer people when i do have to stay in after my section.
