The old thread was getting quite full so I took the liberty of starting a new one, I hope nobody minds! I thought I'd keep in with our glowing and growing theme (I'm not very creative, sorry).

OP posts:

Love anna and noah too - noah was on my list until we picked another boys name as our finalist (still have girls name to choose). ledkr thought you were thinking of Ivy? What about tabitha or Naomi, they're quite nice ones I wouldn't mind but friends have already used Hmm

really bad heartburn over past few days - non stop. Tried everything. so annoying.

jackinthebump · 19/10/2010 18:23

Hello all, congrats on latest scan results, lots and lots of girls then!

We are struggling to come up with names also, I had decided on boys names, Jack and Oliver, but don't really like the female alternatives! I LOVE Isabel, but DH doesn't! So at the moment considering Lucy, Katie and Katherine.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
I also love the idea of getting DH to agree to diamonds whilst in labour, I did point out that eternity ring is due on birth of first child and as we are having first and second there is no excuse against it! Unfortunately he replied that after paying for 2 babies we will have no money left for anything sparkly! Sad

I will do my TPT measurement on Thursday when I get home as working in Germany at the mo and they seem to have different sized toilet paper!

Take care all!

Evening everyone,

Congratulations pinkie on your baby girl [hsmile]

Thank you 40weeks for your story, sounded brilliant and I can understand why you're looking forward to it this time. I really hope I don't need to be transferred as I love the idea of the 3 of us being together straight after. I'm also interested in the pillow you used as sleeping is getting difficult...

We have decided to name our baby Benjamin (nn Ben) Robert needtosleep. We both loved the name Ben straight away and had no other boys names but we had a couple of girls names Greta/ Frida.

TPT I was so certain that I'd grown but no, still 7.5 sheets. I think I might have filled out more in other places though so that my bump is more rounded rather than bullet shaped which it was before.

I had the pain in my ribs again today and lifting my arm over my head did help. It was a sort of prickly stabbing pain when I lifted my arm and not as strong as last time so thank you for the advice.

Has everyone booked their antenatal classes? I was too late for my first choice and not sure what to do now as OH won't be able to attend all the ones in my second choice. Is it really essential to go for your first baby?

ledkr · 19/10/2010 18:51

zero my dh is very much the flowers and love letter type (his birthday card to me made me cry) but he is very matter of fact about this pg.Im not sure id want one of those really ott guys who joins the nct etc but a bit of emotion would be nice.He was worried at first cos of previous mc and disbelief at bfp after 4 yrs but surely now he can relax. I have vision of him being handed the baby when its born and just sitting there emotionless. I did tell him it was customary to give a woman diamonds after birth! he did do the ironing today as he read in his "pg for men" book that it was nice for pg lady to have clean ironed bed linen.Confused

SlaughteredSheep · 19/10/2010 18:57

I LOVE the name Benjamin but it doesn't go with our surname, although we wouldn't be needing it anyway now.

Hubbard so sorry you've been ill. Pluresy sounds horrible! Hope you're feeling better.

Ledkr, I'm glad you told your boss how he made you feel! Tosser! (Your boss obv).

ledkr · 19/10/2010 18:57

angels Ivy is still top of the list but i dont want to miss any other good ones. I am going to stencil ivy in her room as soon as i know for sure.
My mate has just had Kiki whcih really suits her.
I am getting quite excited now is anyone else?I think its seeing my friend.
She had a c section and was home in two days. I saw her in town today and rang her later to tell her off and she admitted to feeling terrible. I can even imagine being home so soon but the hospital is ten miles away as they have closed local unit so it will be easier to come home or poor dh will be up and down like ablue arse fly and i want him and dd to be with me as much as possible.

moonminmama · 19/10/2010 19:56

Hello all. I haven't been around for a while. Just wanted to drop in so I'm not forgotten Smile

My best friend recently suffered a miscarriage and it didn't feel right coming on her 'talking baby' on a positive note she is on the mend. Slowly but surely.

I havent read through anything as my laptop is on the blink and there is soooooo much of it it's difficult to read on my iPhone.

Hope everyone is ok and receiving good news x

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 19/10/2010 20:00

Am not ignoring you all, just on holiday and trying to MN from phone.

Main point of antenatal classes is really the social side - to meet people in your area due around the same time as you - so personally I would book them even if your OH can't make all the sessions.

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 20:04

Hello again zero just had a look and pillow is a theraline micropearl one, from John Lewis - hubby can't remember price though. Not too pricey though, can probably get them online.

Hubbard you poor thing, sounds terrible! Glad you are on the mend and congrats on the girl.

zerominuszero · 19/10/2010 20:20

Just found this one, looks OK. Can I ask a really stupid question? Would I have to get the pillowcase that comes with it?

www.johnlewis.com/230519017/Product.aspx

If that was a really thick question then it's my pregnancy brain + hormones making me stupid

NeedToSleepZZZ · 19/10/2010 21:07

Thank you prof, hope you're enjoying your holiday wherever you are Smile

Off to start prepping veg as have people coming for dinner tomorrow night and will need to have a rest at some point if they expect me to be up past 10pm. Cannot believe how tired I'm getting again, living up to my mn name though [hwink]

smallblackflowers · 19/10/2010 21:16

www.mumstuff.co.uk/acatalog/Theraline-Maternity-Nursing-Pillow.html

have just bought the theraline micropearl pillow from the site above - loads cheaper than John Lewis - thanks for the recommendation 40weeks I love micropearl pillows! Thanks also for your amazing hb story - it brought a tear to my eye [hsmile]

I wish my DH was a bit more romantic too - I always have to hint very heavily for anything, but even then rarely get it. He is lovely in other ways though, so I suppose it almost makes up for it [hgrin]

TallulahBelly14 · 19/10/2010 21:24

Hello ladies - sorry I've not been very good at keeping up with you all. I just remembered that it was Toilet Paper Tuesday so thought I'd log in at 7 and a quarter. But I'm about to go back and read through the oodles of thread I've missed, so back in a bit :)

earlgreyismynectar · 19/10/2010 22:06

Thanks so much 40weeks for sharing your story, it's lovely and just the sort of birth I would hope for :) I find it inspiring to read others experiences.

I've just been reading a thread on Childbirth on home birth vs hospital birth (effectively). Very contentious and highly immotive. I don't think I fully appreciated how polarised the whole thing was...

I hope you feel better soon Hubbard x Nice to see the other absentees back!

Love the names you're choosing! I have a growing list of boys & girls names but still no closer to a shorter short list! Off the top of my head i like Jared for a boy & Elizabeth (nn Betsy & whatever she wants beyond that) for a girl (obviously)... Grin

earlgreyismynectar · 19/10/2010 22:11

Oh & knitter, thanks for your thoughts on my Doula dilemma, you're absolutely right on the trust thing and I think that's why I feel so uneasy with this, it has to feel right, I could quite imagine this stuff could come up mid labour, not good!

zerominuszero · 19/10/2010 22:15

Too many conversations to keep up with! All I'm going to say is that I'm about to buy the pillow that smallblackflowers just linked to and well done to ledkr for telling that tw@t where to go.

And now to bed [hsmile]

knittakid · 20/10/2010 12:18

Perhaps if i don't mention that it is not tuesday anymore i can get away with adding my TPT?

7.5: a whole half sheet in two weeks...

40weeks thanks you so much for your hb story, it was really moving, and also shows how important it is to have the right people with you at the time, did you have any idea before hand of how the two MWs were going to behave? I wonder if you instinctively liked n.2 better from some time earlier, or if their reactions were all a surprise.

We've decided not to have a birth pool. The stress of imagining the cats puncturing it at the worst moment was keeping me awake, and the hard-sided ones are more expensive and look less confy.
I guess I can always labour in the bath.

Yes sleeping it getting difficult already here too, and just a question, how bad is it to sleep in your right side? it's the only way i feel comfy!!

EauRouge · 20/10/2010 12:40

Afternoon all! Sorry I've not been around much, I can't seem to sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time so I hope I haven't missed too much and that everyone is doing well.

I missed TPT, I've got up to 8 sheets now.

DH has taken the week off this week and has painted the new baby room, it's a bit brighter than I expected but I'm hoping it will look OK once the furniture's in there!

zerominuszero · 20/10/2010 12:51

knittakid I would be amazed if it made a big difference, I'm sure the main thing is just to try to stick to the side rather than back. Although I always wake up on my back and get freaked out by it. I'm hoping that my new pillow will make all the difference when it comes in a couple of days.

Anyone else stocking up yet? We bought something like 200 nappies last night because they were on offer and then realised that wed saved a massive 80p on £27 Hmm now I'm paranoid that baby will grow out of them before we've used them all as they're all size one newborn.

Haven't felt like tpt yet as don't want to come up with the very big number it would produce

SlaughteredSheep · 20/10/2010 13:39

My friend has told me that Lidl's own brand nappies are just as good as Huggies and cheaper, for those of you who are going to use disposables. I have never tried them but she uses them for her 6 month old and uses the pull ups at night time for her 3 year old. In fact, I think it's Lidl...it might be Aldi. I'll have to check! But I always found Huggies better than Pampers for DD as Pampers would sometimes leak in the night.

We haven't bought anything yet but I'm on the lookout for a new pram. I want a proper rear facing pram this time, rather than a pushchair and carseat.

I pulled some of DD's old newborn babygrows out the other day. They're so sweet and got me feeling really excited. The other half of me did think, "how the feck does something as big as that fit inside you by the end? And I'm gonna have to get it out!" ah well, I've managed it once! I'm sooo hoping that this one is going to be smaller than DD! [hgrin]

wigglesrock · 20/10/2010 15:08

My friend also swears by Lidl nappies, and she has three girls within 4 years!! I am a huge Tesco nappy lover, I also found Pampers a bit leaky!! I too am hoping that dc3 is smaller that dd2, dd2 was 2lb bigger than dd1 and I felt every ounce of those 2 lbs [hgrin], although it was a much quicker and easier birth and I was induced which I know usually has people running for the hills [hwink]

NeedToSleepZZZ · 20/10/2010 15:11

slaughtered, that's exactly what I said about it being too big to come out of me but then my mum pointed out I was holding up a 0-5 months babygro Blush so I felt a bit calmer when checking the newborn stuff (not that much better though)

zero we have so many nappies and are praying that he isn't too big. went mad at asda when they had boxes of huggies for £18, oops! Think we have 160 something here, about 25 at my mum's and god knows how many at my PIL's as they went mad too... also been buying wipes when they're on offer, somebody stop me!

knittakid you made me laugh at the thought of being in a birthing pool concentrating on breathing only to have the cats pop the pool and you end up with a flood, that's the sort of thing that happens at my house! i'm not having a pool either as figured i'd have long baths then want to be as active as possible to let gravity do it's thing!

i've had a mad day so far and had to lie down as think i started having braxton hicks, well, my bump went really tight and it felt weird, can't really explain it. have made good progress on deep cleaning the house though and have made an enormous moroccan stew and apple and blackberry crumble (think i could eat all of it now). just the bathroom and me to clean now... Confused

zerominuszero · 20/10/2010 15:22

How essential are wipes? In my imagination I was thinking just cotton wool and water, will that not be enough?

wigglesrock · 20/10/2010 15:25

knittakid If I bring the custard, can I have some crumble. When I was having both dds the midwife in unit kept sending me for baths, I was alternating between ffs leave me alone for 5 mins, and what are you trying to say about my personal hygiene [hwink] PS the baths really worked especially with dd2 [hgrin]

NeedToSleepZZZ · 20/10/2010 15:53

plan to use cotton wool and water for top and tailing/ bathing at first but will use wipes for me and anything that gets messy (whole house then [hwink] ). wipes are a godsend when you're out or at least that's what I've found when looking after my friend's babies. also have quite a few muslins now which are great for messes.

wiggles did you want some of my crumble? [hgrin]
glad the baths work!!! I can't smell you from here so think your hygiene is okay, i smell of cinnamon after sprinkling some on my slippers, that's not so bad though is it? [hwink]
