The old thread was getting quite full so I took the liberty of starting a new one, I hope nobody minds! I thought I'd keep in with our glowing and growing theme (I'm not very creative, sorry).

Lovely news pinkie, thats brilliant.

Thanks Slughtered - the HB was my second. First birth was god-awful - so opp ends of scale! Am sure this time round will be all you hope it to be. And ultimately, awful birth or lovely birth, got 2 fab DS' at home to show for it so mustnt grumble

HighlandlassinLondonshire · 19/10/2010 14:39

Girls, lots and lots of lovely wee girls...awww now wishing i'd found out too....[hwink]

40weeks: Lovely and very useful birth story. Thank you for sharing. I'm a total whimp and want drugs.

One of the girls at work had DS2 arrived very fast and DH had to deliver the baby on the living room floor....! All went well, mother and bady sent to bed and DH was taken to hospital for shock...! [hhmm]

Thank you all on advice re: changing bag. I was planning on getting one of those fold up changing mats with everything packed in side..but good to know everything seems to like them. I have a large old fabric bag or one of DH many backpacks and see how I get on first. I do know quite a few mums who have done this first and I think it's the best way to work out what i need.

xx

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 14:39

Thanks angels I know which is your local hospital so dont blame you! Thats why I want to be at home too although I am booked in there [hhmm]

HighlandlassinLondonshire · 19/10/2010 14:44

I know we have ages to go...but just wondering
out of interest those of you who know what sex your baby is, have you picked a name yet or still on the short list...?

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 15:16

Ooh we have two boys names and one girl names. It always comes down to one or two with us as we can never agree! I like loads but DH is a fuss pot!

What about you then highlandlass ?

SlaughteredSheep · 19/10/2010 15:37

We've decided on our name. We decided before I was pg that it's going to be Charlotte (Lottie as nn). TBH there are lots of little girls names that I love but I can't pull DH away from this one, for some reason. He was the same with DD!

I like James for a boy.

zerominuszero · 19/10/2010 15:53

Welcome to the girl club pinkie :)

We are 95% on our girls name and I think we will quick with it as we really like it and we are very very very picky. We were toying with Indian names because I'm from an Indian background but we just happen to have picked more European names and my mum has annoyed me so very much over the "I found out the sex and have told people" thing that I currently have no desire to please her.

Going back to the subject of pillows am I going to have to spend £50 on a good one? Dh thinks its pricey but I'm not sleeping well at all right now so its becoming important.

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 15:53

I think those names are lovely Slaughtered

We have James as a middle name - its popular in our family

wigglesrock · 19/10/2010 15:54

highlandlass We don't know sex yet but have already picked names (Anna or Noah) Girls name has changed a few times and Mr wiggles isn't overly keen on Noah but ho hum he'll get used to it [hwink]

Mr wiggles loves loves James but we have surname issues with it!! We picked names for dd1 and dd2 pretty much immediately and stuck to them. I like having an idea of what baby is going to be called, although I don't really get the baby looking like a name when its born. After the birth the baby will bloody well look like whatever name I we choose for them [hgrin]

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 16:00

Aftr the birth wiggles I reckon DH will be so proud of you, you could get away with whatever name you like!

angels1 · 19/10/2010 16:07

Speaking of getting away with any name after birth as DH will be do dazzled by our natural bithing skill, I saw physio today who said her one piece of advice was once I'm in the transition part of labour and gripping DH's hand so tight he can't feel his fingers I need to get him to promise me a big diamond of some description - she said he'll be in such need of his hand back to working order he'll agree to anything - she said a friend of hers got her DH to agree to allsorts whilst she was in labour [hwink]

wigglesrock · 19/10/2010 16:08

To be honest 40 weeks I'm hoping Mr Wiggles will be so overwhelmed and proud that he will stumble into the nearest jewellers, expensive shoe shop or travel agent and spend spend spend [hgrin], mind you I'm awful shallow [hwink]

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 16:13

Ha ha ladies [hgrin] that is so true although I have never even got so much as a bunch of flowers, despite being clearly/visibly/verbally disgusted on both counts!

I have hinted HEAVILY about the new Pandora shop that has opened nearby PLUS he is off on a golf jolly in November so have indicated how much cheaper theie bracelets are inflight/duty free.

But I may as well save my breath.

angels1 · 19/10/2010 16:21

mr angels would just make a comment about wouldn't we rather spend the money on something sensible like going towards a new kitchen or carpet or something, at which I couldn't really deny, but all the same, anything sparkly or thoughtful would always be appreciated (sadly if I want anything thoughtful I have to leave a picture of it lying very obviously with a post it with 'birthday gift please' or some such on it). I keep living in hope I'll get a suprise romantic gesture/gift at some point, but alas remain permenantly expectant. At least when we first went out I got flowers.....

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 16:27

They are so sensible arent they?

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 16:43

Oooh before I log off Zero I will try and remember to find name of the pillow I have at home, would recommend it - £50 is a lot but if its for a good nights sleep then well worth it. And you can use it after for feeding and also laying behind baby when learning to sit up on their own/covering sharp edges of a fire place etc. My DH sometimes uses it for watching TV in bed too!

Cant remember how much it cost but wasnt extortinate.

Just had a can of fanta zero and now horribly bloated and feel like I might go pop. Soooo uncomfortable

zerominuszero · 19/10/2010 16:44

Even if I was in the middle of giving birth to a giant cactus if I asked dh for something he would check our bank accounts, draw up a list of pros and cons and tell me why I couldn't have it.

And I've never had flowers in seven years... But to be fair he does occasionally express his love in other ideocyncratic ways.

zerominuszero · 19/10/2010 16:53

Thank you 40weeks that would be great, it would be nice to have some sleep at some point. Stock us before the baby comes. You'll feel better when you burp, not that ladies do, of course.

40Weeks · 19/10/2010 16:58

OK Jobs to do

Log off
Burp
Collect kids from nursery
Get name of pillow and post on MN

bye everyone! Keep well

SlaughteredSheep · 19/10/2010 17:44

Ooh, I like the idea of getting DH to agree to something that I want whilst in labour. Now what do I want?

I like Anna and Noah [hsmile] they're lovely names.

I can't get with the idea of seeing what name they look like either. I think that they grow into their names when they're tiny. DD definitely didn't look like an Isabel she looked like she should have been called "ScrewedUpLittleRedThing" but now I couldn't think of her as anything else but Isabel.

hubbard86 · 19/10/2010 18:02

haven't been on for a while. Been poorly in hospital with a chest infection which has led to pluresy what fun but got discharged today and found out we're expectin a girl. So excited now. We'd only decided on boys names either Murphy or Brandon. So really stuck now. Pleased to hear everyones feelin better.

I've looked at one of those chair gliders and its on my wish list. I have the dream genii pillow and its been a godsend

ledkr · 19/10/2010 18:05

Hello. Thanks for all the good vibes re work.
Some good scan news since i was last on. Congrats to all.
Zero i hate it when family think your pregnancy is theirs. people need to learn to butt out.
Work was ok.I did recieve a veiled apology which i didnt accept and told him the truth about how he made me feel.He just sat there.
I dont even care anymore. I filled out my mat leave letter today and with my leave will actually begin leave on the day the baby is born.
Do you think we have discovered a new "old wives tail"about the hairy legs bump and pits?
I definately noticed it with dd and now with this one who is apparently also a dd.
My name choice changes every day. Today it is elsie but dd1 is called Ella so bit too similar i think.

hornedtoadjennyp · 19/10/2010 18:06

My dd is Anna - it's a great name and so easy for them to spell! [hsmile]
