Looby and Floozie I'm sorry you've both been having problems, I hope that you both get sorted soon. I'm glad that the mws seems to be supportive of you Looby, I hope they're doing the same with you Floozie, if you are in need of further support I've lurked around the feeding section here and they seem to be very supportive and have a lot of knowledge between them all.

Bionic I've been doing the same, I was surprised at how long some of them were taking to dry and when I looked I discovered that they were bamboo, the microfibre ones came out pratically dry from the washing machine.

Dilly Sorry about the useless DH, have you tried steaming? That might help woth the sinuses. Otherwise try and rest up, I hope the birth centre assessment goes well tomorrow.

I got woken up by LO at 5am this morning who decided that my ribs were quite bereft of company and that they looked like they wanted to play. It wasn't the nicest of wake up calls Confused, I think I'd rather be woken by crying than a kick in the ribs.

I still think the midwife is wrong about him being breech. I don't get fanjo kicks and this morning I had what I think is his foot stuck out on the left side of my bump and what I think is his bump on the right. I had a little feel and there was a little bend in the middle of my bump that I think is his knees, now I could be wrong. But if I am, I'm giving birth to some sort of long limbed monkey.

Oh I don't know, I just hope they don't leave me hanging on with a scan date as I'm 37 weeks on Monday and if he is breech they'll need to sort stuff pretty sharpish.

I hope you're all well this morning.

36+6.

Elsa123 · 03/10/2010 12:44

Feeling like poo with bad cold grrr. Am really hacked off I have cold so close to having the baby. I just hope it clears quickly and that y DH doesn't catch it.

Hermya you made me laugh with the 'have you tried steaming' in the same sentence as sorry about your DH to Dilly!!

We put up the curtains in the nursery and they're from M&P as part of a range. They're uneven, and one significantly shorter than the other. Double grr. They'll go back the next time we have a chance.

Hermya321 · 03/10/2010 12:49

Elsa Oh my gosh, I've just read back over what I've written Blush. I have to blame the fact that I feel out of it this morning, but I'm glad I made you laugh. Grin Which range did you get it from?

SilverSky · 03/10/2010 13:39

37+6 and laying on the sofa in my pjs still.

I have not had any B&H at all. Is that good or bad?

Keep waking up on my back which is not great I now have to sleep up against HI so I can't roll back. If I spend too long in bed my left hip is so uncomfortable and numb. Saying that I had a huge lie in today and feel heaps better for it.

Day 3 of October and how many babies will arrive today ???

Elsa123 · 03/10/2010 14:08

Hermya its part of the once upon a time range I think, thats without getting up off the sofa to go and look!

I'm so hacked off I feel pants as this will be the last weekend I'll be at this house before the baby is born and I wanted to do more tidying round etc and I have no energy.

SamanthaB123 · 03/10/2010 18:37

Seashells Sorry you've gone over, it won't be much longer though. How are you feeling in yourself? I can't imagine that I could get any bigger Blush and I'm only 37+4!

Nymph Your section is booked for my daughters birthday. Every time I read your countdown I remember that's how many days I've got left to wrap the presents!

Floozie I have heard stories that midwives have been overly keen to bottle feed babies who have been in scbu where I live too. The breastfeeding lady at the nct who did our class last week said that if you have bleeding or sore nipples the latch isn't quite right. Maybe it would be worth calling the nct and speaking to one of their counsellors because even if formula has been used you can still up your supply and cut out the formula over time. You just need a lot of support. I've sort of been in this situation myself and I felt lousy, I hope that you are ok.

Hermya I hope you're ok and not too worried about the possibility of the baby being breech. Do you have a different midwife who could have a feel for you? I get mostly sensation in my pelvis/cervix now and my baby is head down - it's her head moving and her hands going into her mouth.

Elsa Sorry you are feelin lousy, hopefully you will be better before you go into labour.

Silversky I didn't have any BH with either of my previous pregnancies yet have had them intermittently for the past ten days or so. I don't think that it makes any difference either way, I'm possibly less comfy than you!

Back ache today and feeling teary. Baby engaged but no signs of anything much going on. Really tired and will be in bed early tonight! 37+4

Hope everyone else is well, SB

nymphadora · 03/10/2010 20:08

SamB- Must be a good day then!

I'm bed now and have been deperate too for ages, though part o fthat was the need to lie down. I only got up at 12 after falling asleep aagain this am so shouldn't be that tired.
Just had major strop at dd1 and her pouting over everything. Her choice for tea and she took an hour to eat 1/4 and sat there pouting the whole time. Its practically constant now and really wearing especially with my surpuls of hormones. She missed her icecream and she has had her book confiscated (only sanction that works at the moment) but doesn't seem that bothered. I'm upset as this was our last family afternoon before the baby comes.
I'm still getting stressed about the stay on Maternity and have so many questions for my pre-op appt now. I keep going over stuff with dh as he will have to sort things for me if I can't cope and he will help on Tuesday at the pre-op.Just need answers though.

Hermya321 · 03/10/2010 20:22

I've been trying to sort out the spare room for ages, I feel like I'm the only one whose bothered. DH keeps saying 'oh I'll do it' and then doesn't. I want to get the blanket boxes out so we can put the babies stuff in them, but that requires him to move loads of boxes. The house feels like a tip at the moment and I'm trying to do small things as and when, but it feels like a never ending task and I just want things to be clean and tidy now Sad. Also bump is annoying me, I feel uncomfortable and I just want this baby to come and not be taking up room that I don't have in my body anymore.

Nymph Sorry that DD is being a bit of a pain.

Lizkin · 03/10/2010 20:47

Hello dear ladies,

Just a quick note to say things may be starting here - my waters seem to have broken or be breaking gradually! Appt at the hosp tomorrow morning and who knows what course things will take from there.

I haven't been able to read all the latest posts - sorry, I can't even lurk properly let alone post, but I thought you might like to hear a bit of news. Will try and update in due course though won't have internet access in hosp (still in the dinosaur age when it comes to phones).

Good luck everyone and thanks for your posts, it's been one of my mat leave mainstays to read this and other threads. Cheers for now!

Lizkin · 03/10/2010 20:49

oh btw I'm 38+4

nymphadora · 03/10/2010 20:51

hermya I could have written your post . Had a major tantrumat dh last night & I got up today to a tidy kitchen, washing put away and paperwork done!
Things with dd will get worse at some point , we are heading for a toddler AND a teenager at the same time [frazzled]

jessebelle · 03/10/2010 21:02

Hi Priscilla - glad I brought you out of hiding, though wish it wasn't cos of our annoying DPs!

Hermya - this is what I'm talking about - the men are just in no hurry and they just don't understand how hard it is for us to see the things that need doing but not having the strength to do it!!! In the end last week, against the advice of everybody, I went up the rickety ladder to the loft to find he'd missed a whole bag of baby clothes for instance - and brought down a load of stuff he could have brought down over a week ago.

Elsa - it's rubbish having a cold this late in pregnancy isn't it. I want the baby to come but I don't want to have it feeling like this!!! And DD's sleep goes all over the place when she's got a cold - so she was up from around 5am this morning - doesn't exactly help!

Seashells - sorry you've gone over but if it's any consolation I think I'm heading that way - due this Friday (39+2 today) but can't really see it happening this week for some reason although would love to be proved wrong! Doesn't help my mum's booked to come stay with us from 13th (she lives in Sweden) and is constantly asking me "no sign of baby then?" in a kind of, 'you better have it before I arrive this time' tone (because last time I went 10 days over so she barely saw the baby before heading home).

However, went to a National Trust house 'apple day' type event today and there were two mums with two new babies breastfeeding in the cafe and I got a shot of excitement as well as nerves - it really made it 'real' - whatever happens now, in about two weeks' time I'll be in the same situation (at least one would hope/assume so). EEEEEK!

jessebelle · 03/10/2010 21:03

ooooh! good luck Lizkin! just saw your post!

nymphadora · 03/10/2010 21:25

lizkin Cross posted before- GOOD LUCK Grin

Hermya321 · 03/10/2010 22:24

Jessebelle, Nymph No they don't, I think men operate in a linear fashion. Until the baby is in front of them it doesn't occur to them to think 'oh it may need x y z'.

Good luck Lizkin!!!!

nymphadora · 04/10/2010 07:09

Dh hasn't been that bad but tends to ignore stuff he doesn't like & I normally do it ( pilesof washing, garden etc) and I ignore cooking & hoovering. Works quite well until one of us can't do stuff!

Hermya321 · 04/10/2010 07:22

Morning all!!!

I hope you all slept well, I'm 37 weeks today!! That means I'm ready when baby is. .......

Nymph Yeah we do that sort of thing, DH never does the bathroom and I never do the bin. Actually, I think the it's the bin fairy who takes it out rather like the loo fairy that cleans the bathroom. Wink

Sorry if I'm rambley, I've not had that much sleep due to one thing or another.

SilverSky · 04/10/2010 07:25

Here here! Men don't seem to have foresight do they.

HI does not have to get up early today however he has still set the alarm so he can "listen" to the radio. Alarm went off at sparrow's fart o'clock and HI is soundo and I have been awake since the alarm went off.

Yesterday we had a bit of a sort out which is great but all it's done is highlight how much else needs doing and it's only the tip of the bloody iceberg. HI's answer is that now I am on ML that I can get to grips with it all by "pottering round the house and making a start" but he does not have any idea that the smallest task is exhausting. I seem to be spending most of my life picking up things that I have dropped which ain't easy.

MIL is coming over today to help sort some bits which is great.

Welcome to all the lurkers and newbs. Hope everything is going swimmingly lizkin.

38 wks

nymphadora · 04/10/2010 07:29

I was thinking people had slept better as there was no middle of the night posts! Obviously wrong there!

37+4

sophieandbelly · 04/10/2010 08:45

morning all, have quickly scanned posts but havnt had time for a proper look- everyones getting near now rnt they-how exciting.

well ive had a busy week- my c-section went as planned, very calm experiance etc, i was very nervous having spinal etc, but it was all so quick then lily arrived and the rest seemed to fly by- i had loads of anti sickness drugs which made me very woosey.

the recovery is difficult with a 3 yr old aswell, but the whole experiance is so much better than last time.

lily is a dream very calm, and feeds and sleeps well (so far!) my dd is chuffed to bits having a little sister to fuss over- the first few weeks r so lovely wish they went on for ever! xx

Tyson86 · 04/10/2010 09:44

Lizkin Hope you have hadyour little baby by now and all went well x

Sophie is a sweetheart, woke her daddy up 5 times in the night but bless him he lets me sleep. Ds adores her and tries to help with her blankets and milk. Very happy that im no longer pregnant, no indigestion or migraines Grin And my belly is flat already Grin

Wont be long for the rest of us, hope all goes as calmly as it did for me :)

shieldbug · 04/10/2010 10:12

Congratulations tyson, Sophie is gorgeous. I'm also seriously impressed that your belly is flat already.

Sophieandbelly or is it sophieminusbelly? so pleased all went well. Welcome to lily; she sounds wonderful.

Good luck lizkin thinking of you.

Sorry to hear of unhelpful dh/dps. I'm grateful for how helpful mine has been; he's worked so hard to get things ready. Although there's still more to do, if sproglet were to be born this week (are you listening there, baby?) we would be fine.

I'm still suffering with this rash- it's spread all over my body. I keep waking up scratching, which of course makes it worse. My next consultant's appointment in on Wednesday, but I don't know if there's anything she can do to help. I had a nasty pain low down in the bump last night as well which may be a fibroid problem.

Sorry for the moan, especially as I know I'm not the only one finding it tough by a long chalk. Sympathies and hugs to all of you. Let's hope for more births soon!

shieldbug · 04/10/2010 10:12

Oh yes, 38+2

DillyDora · 04/10/2010 10:17

Morning! Thanks for the support as always, off to the hospital in a bit, I think I'll walk to try to help the puffiness even though it's bad for SPD Confused. Lovely to hear about happy mummies and babies and sorry to hear about people feeling rough. I really do get a bit panicked about being tired before labour even begins.

Hermya I am off to steam DH to see if that will galvanise him a bit.... Wink Hoping LO isn't breech, btw.

Nymph sorry your DD is being a pain but loving that taking her book away is a sanction - wish my DSS were that attached to books!

Right, since it takes me 100 years to walk anywhere I'd better trail off. More later
xxx

FingonTheValiant · 04/10/2010 10:29

Morning all. Sorry to hear the weekend has been stressful for so many.

I just got back from the fetal assessment unit - baby decided not to move very much on Friday and still hadn't started again this morning, so I was panicking by 6am. Fortunately they saw me at 8.30, stuck me on continuous monitoring for 20 mins and said that he was fine, just being a bit lazy! Such a relief! :)

I had 3 contractions (weedy ones) in the 20 mins, so I just need to double the numbers and get the power up on them - easier said than done! And he's still only 2/5 engaged. I think I need to start going up and down the stairs (we're on the ground floor so I never do it normally).

Lizkin Hope everything's going well for you!

Tyson lovely to hear that daddy and big brother are doing so well with Sophie! Very Envy that you have a flat belly already. I'm aiming to be trim by Easter lol!

Sophie glad things are going well with Lily! Great that she's feeding and sleeping well :)

SilverSky sorry to hear you're not getting much sympathy. I've been asking dh for a week and a half to help me prepare the room with the birth pool in. In the end I just got cracking myself (took a huge pep talk to self to get the energy to do it) and he walked in half way through to find I'd moved furniture and lifted the birth pool all over the place, and finally felt guilty enough to help! I keep asking him to help me tidy up, but I agree, they just don't get it! Angry
