I have opened the virtual gin, found the Desperate Romantics and am about to start playing I've Never. Who's with me?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SilverSky · 28/09/2010 12:45

honey my third day of ML and I thought I would fail at playing "wifey" and HI would say that I could improve fo' sho'.

I have done some chores this morning and have taken breaks to sit on my ball and recover from the exertion of housework. Tho still need to clean as at the mo it's all about tidying away.

We have been given tons of baby stuff which is luverrrrrrly - don't get me wrong. We don't have any space to keep any of the stuff so it's cluttering up our gaff and it's not stuff we can use right away anyhows. Feels like house has been turned into dumping ground.

Lunch consumed.

Going to get dresses proper then take the dog out for my daily waddle.

Yay for bob's wriggling!! It's the best. The first time HI felt junior move was when he had his ear to my tum and he got smacked in the ear by the baby! Hilarious! HI was chuffed to bits.

Some of the other gals from NCT finish work this week so I am hoping we can meet up.

My pushchair arrives Thursday. . Where on earth am I going to put that!!!!!??

Cosmosis · 28/09/2010 13:00

Hello all, finally managed to get artie asleep whilst not attached to my boobs, so got a chance to check in a bit more than a quick hello. Hope you are all ok?

VAG remember, all the best baybees arrive at exactly 42wks Grin

Medee · 28/09/2010 13:52

just back from my 16w midwife appointment, and I got to hear the heartbeat! Very reassuring, I have to say.

Scorpette · 28/09/2010 14:07

Am in 24-7 Severe Nausea Hell. I start to feel sick again before I've even finished eating. In my dreams, I have nausea. Am wearing anti-sickness wristbands which stop me writhing about in agony but I still feel vile and they hurt my wrists. All trips cancelled unless tomorrow's needling can help. Just stopping by for VAG news, a bit of a whine and bitchslaps all round

Muser · 28/09/2010 14:19

Oh poor Scorps. Would you be able to take cyclizine if your doctor prescribed it?

Definitely don't do anything. Rest and rest some more. And have ice lollies.

PollyPoo · 28/09/2010 15:17

Scorps that sucks, you poor love. I was wondering how you were, thought you'd been rather quiet. Would a go on my buzzwams help? I'll lean over so you can stay on the sofa? Listen to Muse, she talks sense - homemade icelollies were ace for my 'morning' sickness. Defo worth finding out about drugs too. Did you get midwife appt sorted yet?

MrsFC · 28/09/2010 15:26

And white bread sandwiches, with peanut butter if you can stand it x

OkieCokie · 28/09/2010 15:35

Sorry to hear of vom feeling Scorps. If looking on brightside is required then it is a sure sign of diffedness and raging hormones = good.

When people take files out of my cupboard at work (without telling me) why can't they fucking put them back again when they have finished with them instead of leaving them on the floor by their desk?! Ahhhhh. FFS it fucking bugs me. 6.5 days and counting....

Had appt with consultant this morning. Baby head down with back to side (right side) so all I need it to do now is move it's back to my front and not to my back - I will have words with him/her tonight and I am sure that'll do it. It is also a fatty mcfatty measuring 37 weeks when I am only 34. It seems to have got really big in the last 2 weeks .

Also discussed notes from last birth. Have mixed emotions as I am pleased I have the continuity of care with her but she could not give me some of the reassurances I was looking for about the likelihood of things happening again. Hey ho - I guess there are no certainties in life let alone child birth! I still have a positive outlook though and I will still plan for a natural birth.

Scorpette · 28/09/2010 15:54

Top advice, laydeez, ta but PLEASE can we have no more talk of pnut bter? The very thought of the stuff made me vom before I got knocked up! Will defo make some home-made ice lollies - but where can I find lolly moulds in September (don't live nr a Lakeland)? Shall investigate! Am going to try to avoid all drucks if I can. Am not actually being sick or feeling like I'm going to, so they might say no drucks.

Booking my 8 wk mw appointment in a mo - v exciting.

Medee, so happy for you. Hurrah for lovely baybee heartbeats Grin

CUNextTuesday · 28/09/2010 15:57

lakeland do an online delivery if I'm not mistaken...

SilverSky · 28/09/2010 16:08

scorp sweets? I tried all kind of sweets. Boiled, minty, fruity, blackjacks. Also dried fruit. Basically junk!!!! I found the ms was the worst bit and I didn't even have it half as bad as some of the others. Can u try popcorn??

Muser · 28/09/2010 16:11

You could just do ice cubes Scorps. Or your local supermarket might have ice pop bags with the ice cube bags. No idea if they still make those though.

Medee · 28/09/2010 16:12

sorry to hear about the vomming, Scorps. Lakeland's delivery service is excellent.

May I also recommend... Haribo!

Muser · 28/09/2010 16:13

Since Bob started moving last night I keep feeling him lots. It's distracting me from my work. I just want to sit and feel it!

Much lower down than I expected as well, round the knicker line. Which I guess makes sense given that's where the midwife went to find the heartbeat.

Medee · 28/09/2010 16:37

I was surprised how high up mine went - to the top, just under my belly button, but as she got it first time, I guess she could tell from my shape.

MrsFC · 28/09/2010 16:43

Mine was round my section scar for ages. It's only now I can feel it higher up. God knows what was going on in all that bump space I'd made before he moved!

Muser · 28/09/2010 16:45

See that's where I'd have thought to look Medee. Probably based on old childhood beliefs about babies being in tummies.

rollerbaby · 28/09/2010 18:32

I think I love you MrsFC. You iz well nice. "Neat" bump is definitely not how I'd describe the current size of my abdomen, and probably most photos on other place feature me with trowelled on face. And as for "pinging" we will see how long I am wearing tracky bums for - particularly with Xmas and the size of my appetite in general.

I will officially shut the fuck up moaning. I am very lucky to be off on mat leave from Friday and despite the weirdness I am going to enjoy doing exactly WTF I want. silver will probably alternate a few mini jobs with a spot of ball bouncing in front of the telly too. okie mini me is also back to RHS and head down - apparently this is good and not to be worrying about back to front too much? What did hunky consultant say about this?

polly sorry you are in so much pain, that is shit. .

meddle I loves hearing the heartbeat. Is best bit. Made me cry big style first time around.

scorpio Nausea Hell is a bad place. I can only sympathise and tell you to rest, eat, rest, eat, rest. Do nothing else until you feel able to. It's not funny. Homemade ice lollies a brilliant idea. Are you craving anything specific?

Can't believe how much I ate today: approx 12 biscuits. 3 cups of tea. Roast lamb, broccoli, peas, roast potatoes. Side salad. Gooseberry crumble with lashings of custard. Went into a coma after this and had to leave at 4pm under the complaint of general preggo exhaustion.

Mr Moo has gone out to drink copious amounts of wine. I have Grazia and Discovery and Health baby programmes to entertain me this evening. Still haven't washed any bloody baby clothes - let alone iron a damn thing.

rollerbaby · 28/09/2010 18:33

cass what news on ministew? Have you seen doc again?

Casserole · 28/09/2010 18:48

Thanks for asking. Went to GP again this morning, who wasn't happy so phoned hosp, who also weren't happy and asked us to come in. So we went down there and spent several hours sitting around while people scratched their heads and asked me if I was washing his clothes in acid / feeding him prawns topped with kiwi with peanut chasers, etc etc.

Eventually they pronounced allergic reaction (4 days, constant, not relieved by antihistamines and with no trigger, yep, sounds right to me), told me they wouldn't give him anything stronger unless he started having trouble breathing and we were sent on our way. Oh, the best bit - the doctor said "It could be a reaction to the change in the weather". Honestly, I couldn't decide whether to just weep or hit him. So I just stared at him in miserable disbelief until he looked a bit ashamed and looked away Smile

He's been miserable this afternoon, won't play, won't let me leave the room, just crying and scratching. But in the last hour I have put him in a tepid bath with loads of bicarb of soda, which he screamed bloody murder through and hasn't helped the rash BUT has stopped him scratching quite so much, then got Manstew to get some Eurax cream on way home and have slathered him in that - he's next to me at the mo naked on our bed, still a giant hive but not scratching. At this stage I've given up trying to find a solution, I just want him comfortable.

Personally I think it's a reaction to a virus. Whether it's the slapped cheek virus or not it seems I'm not going to find out. Will ring midwife in a couple of days and just say I have been exposed to it and ask for a blood test for myself. I had a big cry earlier but feeling better now, mainly cos the Eurax seems to be working and I have the use of my arms back, instead of holding a bawling toddler all day!

Sorry, all very me me me. Sorry. Dead legs to all.

Casserole · 28/09/2010 18:50

2 clarifications:

  1. Ministew wouldn't play, not the doctor.
  2. Ministew is naked next to me slathered in cream, not Manstew. THAT ship has well and truly sailed for the next 9 months Wink
Casserole · 28/09/2010 18:55

Muse - going back to the cyclizine conversation: do you take them morning, noon and night? When is/was your nausea at it's worst? Maybe try skipping the dose least likely to cause problems and see how that goes.

OR just stay on them to be honest, if you need them you need them! But I know what you mean about not really knowing how well you're doing because the drugs interfere with that.

MrsFC · 28/09/2010 19:08

cass what a nightmare. Especially when you have been so calm & done exactly what they asked, and they can oly offer the WEATHER as a reason? WTF??

I like the idea of you surrounded of men slathered in cream....

Not sure if this would help, but when the boy child had chicken pox I put him in a bath of porridge oats. He moaned like hell & said it was gross, but it did seem to soothe his skin a bit.

muse, I can't believe you're 18 weeks & still so ill. My 12 weeks of feeling sick pale in comparison. You are an actual, real life DHB. And cass too.

rollerbaby · 28/09/2010 19:13

Also what about Olatium? Mr Moo gets psoriasis and this stuff seems to help a lot in the itching and calming things down. I think you can either bathe in it, or apply it neat.

Muser · 28/09/2010 19:17

Poor ministew, how frustrating to have no answers. I have heard that putting some porridge oats in a pair of old tights and then in the bath (the tights are to save you having to clean the oaty bath) is good for soothing skin problems. Poor love.

Sickness was originally only very bad in the morning and at about going home from work time. Then it was constant. So I was definitely having to take the cyclizine 3 times a day as I could feel the nausea coming back if I left it too long betweeen pills.

I have had fewer attacks of nausea now, so I'm going to start leaving it longer between pills. I took one at lunchtime today because I started to feel ill, having not had one in the morning or before bed. I am going to see if I can get away with not having one this evening again. If I then don't puke in the morning I may consider myself cured.
