I have opened the virtual gin, found the Desperate Romantics and am about to start playing I've Never. Who's with me?

OP posts:

Medee · 28/09/2010 19:18

poor Ministew.

MrsFC · 28/09/2010 19:22

Oh yeah - I forgot about the tights bit. Stops your bath looking like a weetabox bowl.

OkieCokie · 28/09/2010 20:14

Cass sorry about the ishoos with ministew. The oat thing is a good tip. Aveeno oil is also oat based if you can't be bothered with the hassle of proper oats for the bath - I used to use this a couple of times until we discovered mini Cokie is intolerant to bloody oats (as well as quite a few other things)! You could ask the Doctor for an emollient like moo suggests which can be slathered on as a cream and used as a wash and this may help too. We use Epaderm which is pretty gentle. I guess the difficult thing is working out what is the trigger - the weather?? FFS! I am "lucky" in that I can see an instant reaction in mini C if he eats something he can't handle and his ishoos are all food related. I am not sure what to suggest in this case.

Muse I hope you are cured. I would be a bit fed up by now if I were you..

Casserole · 28/09/2010 20:34

Thanks ladies. The Eurax cream seemed to stop the itching and he went to bed happy enough, though is still chatting away in his room.

Have seen the oats things a few places, will give that a go. I think it will turn out to be a virus reaction and we'll just have to wait it out, so just want to try and make his little life as bearable as possible whilst waiting.

Honestly though, the weather. I do always try to be polite and grateful to medical people in such circumstances but after 4 hours to be sent away with a weather report was more than my English sensibilities could bear! I honestly just stared at him in a miserable stupor and he looked pretty embarrassed at what he'd said!

Anyway. I've had some food and a glass of wine. Now to do some revision before bed. I'm revising pathology so perhaps I'll do my immunity and inflammation revision and will have come up with the answer by bedtime!

Muse that's what I do now, just take as and when. Generally find I either need one at lunchtime or if not, by dinnertime, but just see how it goes each day. Hope it's all a distant memory soon Hmm

Scorpette · 28/09/2010 20:43

Poor Ministew Sad I second what Muser says about the oaty tights bath. There's a range of creams by the Aveno brand which are based on the soothing power of oats (I sound like I write their jingles!) - dunno if one of their potions and lotions might work, but is worth looking out for.

I can't eat sugar or sweeteners, so sweeties are out for me. Morning sickness is crap enough without being unable to have normal snacks Sad

I've been invited to a big spoken word event to read out my article (which is published this Friday, woohoo) on the 6th but feeling as bad as I do, I think I'm going to have to say no Angry They'll get an actress to read it for me if I can't. Why do I get the horrible feeling that all the opportunities I've been looking out for for years are going to come to me now I'm pg and will be too ill to properly pursue?

rollerbaby · 28/09/2010 21:13

What's the article scropy? I am intrigued. Or is this secret? Don't worry have had to miss some really once in a career work events this year due to either morning sickness at the beginning or fact I will be delivering a baby in about a month's time. Brilliant timing on my part, I think not. But in a way I couldn't give a stuff - which just shows how much I've changed in the last 9 months! Which is not to say you shouldn't care btw... Let's face it there is an awful lot of self congratulatory backslapping in my industry, but a little bit of recognition for my hard work of 2 years would have been nice. Hey ho!

OkieCokie · 28/09/2010 21:21

moo I have learnt you don't get much thanks from the tossers at work. I went back to work early last time as they said they "needed me" and did I get any thanks? Nope. I just gave a pound of flesh. I won't be repeating my mistake!

Stewpot mini stew is gorgeous (been stalking your pics...)

OkieCokie · 28/09/2010 21:26

Fuck it. I just tried to watch "Cherry has a baby" as I have a bit of time and it is not on iplayer anymore. Balls.

rollerbaby · 28/09/2010 21:36

Don't worry, you didn't miss anything particularly educational. :) I got a bit irritated by it to be honest.

You are right about pound of flesh alright. No one thanks you for it. Which is why I turned up today at 1030, had a big lunch and left at 4. HA! And I got a really expensive taxi which no one else was allowed to do... what a princess eh.

I have just scared myself silly reading about positions on spinning babies etc. ROA is not good apparently as even though head down babies rotate through posterior to LHS before descending down before birth. Overthinking it? Yes probably. Have spent last hour draped over ball. My tits are killing me.

Casserole · 28/09/2010 21:36

Okie fanks! Grin Grin I grew him all myself (well, with a very small amount of help right at the beginning)

Are you my very very new FB friend? Smile

Scorps if it's any help I am royally fucking up my degree at present with the puking and all. God only knows what'll happen next year.

Casserole · 28/09/2010 21:38

Spinning babies? ROA?

Honey I hope you got in the taxi, turned to your jealous colleagues, said "Because I'm worth it" and shut the door Grin

rollerbaby · 28/09/2010 21:45

cassoulet my particular brand of control freakery means I cannot even let my poor baby rest easy in the womb. I am constantly hanging off bits of furniture and stairs apparently attempting to break my neck, much to the bemusement and annoyance of long-suffering husbo and doglet. Hairy moo thinks I'm playing and tries to eat my hair, which somewhat ruins the whole yoga zenness of birth preparation positions.

Have a look at spinningbabies.com. It does read like a load of yankee doodle bullshit, and makes you overly paranoid about which way the baby is facing but hopefully will help in the long run. Or at least makes me feel like I am doing something...

PollyPoo · 28/09/2010 21:48

Hmmm.... read this at work the other night. interesting Interesting or another stick to beat up preggo wimminz?

Scorps don't worry, I can't even hold down a crap shop job without a) fucking it up or b) crying. Am v excited about your article - will it be online? Can you send us a link?!

rollerbaby · 28/09/2010 21:53

Bah, what is that article actually saying, other than "be very worried"?! Fuckers.

WTF is my husband? Drunk and stinking of wine somewhere no doubt.

rollerbaby · 28/09/2010 21:54

He just got home and nearly took the door off it's hinges.

rocketleaf · 28/09/2010 21:56

ohh scorps! exciting times, it a shame if you cant make the function but you will still be in print. So :( you are feeling so poorly. I am the opposite and feeling a bit panicky that I am not as diffed as I could be (ridiculous I know) I am sure I will luagh at this when I feel terrible in a few weeks time.

Also looks like I might have to go to America for 5 days with work over a weekend and even though I know flying is not an ishoo, I am a bit worried about how knackered it will make me.

stew hope the minibean feels better soon poor lamb, I am sooo adopting the weather excuse every time anyone feels the slightest bit poorly. "Oh its the change in weather dontcha know" Hmm

Excited for the fizzy bellies and soon to drop BESHes!

Casserole · 28/09/2010 21:58

Ah, like avoiding back to back babies type thing? I did a lot of that towards the end with ministew.

SilverSky · 29/09/2010 04:02

Ah bitching insomnia strikes again!!!!!

Got too much on my mind. Least I haz not got work in the morn. Just a lunch date!!!

honey I hear you sistah! Draping over the ball is a bleeding killer. My generous bustage protests and protests even with a cushion. I seem to be moving from sitting on ball, laying on sofa, draping over ball, edge of sofa to lying on the floor. I feel like I am on a merrygo round minus the fun. Guess my next mw appt next week will prove if it's done me any good. Surely if the baybee has it's back to my tum, I wouldn't be feeling the kicks as much as kicks as s/he wouldn't be kicking backwards? Or am I talking complete twaddle?

NCT is almost over. Have enjoyed it for the most part. One sesh I did not enjoy as with different "teacher" and she was very knowledgeable but so far removed from an ESH it's not troo.

SilverSky · 29/09/2010 04:17

SALE ALERT

NCT online shoppe has a sale on!! 20% off basic baby gear!!!!!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 29/09/2010 05:19

okie I pulled it from thepiratebay.org

Muser · 29/09/2010 08:00

Week 18 and I can safely report that if I only have one cyclizine tablet at lunchtime I will puke the next morning. Not cured yet.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 29/09/2010 08:34

I never found a way NOT to puke in the morning - perhaps taking a pill at midnight would've helped but I didn't want to be taking them all the time so I just took them as and when. The early morning puking I coped with - or became de-sensitised to. Lucky me not needing public transport though!

CurlyCasper · 29/09/2010 08:42

hello all, lots to catch up on so apologies if I miss anything.

It's a bit late now to wish you luck, bess, but I hope all went well on Monday.

Cass. Any progress with the wee man? It's probably no help but I had a horrific outbreak of hives a few years ago. They never established the cause and, as with ministew, Piriton barely touched it. After about four days I ended up in A&E (bank holiday) and was given steroids. That cleared it, but I am paranoid at the slightest itchy lump now. A horrible experience, so my heart goes out to you and the boy. I hope it's sorted soon.

Moo Welcome to maternity leave! If there's anything you really want/need to get done, do it NOW! I still have a back-logged to-do list thanks to the impatience of my darling daughter Grin

which reminds me - I was never told anything about her being engaged etc. It really can change overnight, so be ready. (Bags packed?)

I can't believe I've been off work for so long already. It does feel like it's flown by, which makes me sad about how quickly I'll be back at work. But then, the whole labour, and hospital readmission nightmare, and the Hell when Squeaker's reflux started seems like a long time ago. I don't think I've missed anything, or could have made any more of it, but it's a bit like your wedding day, IMO. Once it's over you just want to do it again to savour every minute. But I guess that's looking back with a pair of those old rosy horn rimmed specs.

Sad for Muse and others feeling the sickness. I can only hope it all passes soon.

And hurray for heartbeats and champagne bubbles!

Hope newbs are all settling in well, and coming back to earth nicely Smile

Muser · 29/09/2010 09:02

I am quite happy to take the tablets as prescribed for as long as I need to. Morning puking makes me feel wretched. A tablet before bed seems to do the trick.

OkieCokie · 29/09/2010 09:34

Yes cass I iz the new face crack person (white dress, red flowers)

moo I reckon if a constantly sleep on left then he/she has to rotate to left non? . Fuckety fuck - may have to start scrubbing floors but I generally pay someone to do that for me.
