I have opened the virtual gin, found the Desperate Romantics and am about to start playing I've Never. Who's with me?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ginhag · 24/09/2010 22:44

Yep, independent midwife. And she found the hb straight away and was wonderful and reassuring. Still unclear as to cause of pain, previous history means some concern re uti/kidney stuff so will see a doc if it is still here on moon.

Mr gin says I'm a bit neurotic. He can fuck off :) It really hurt in a way that I have not experienced in pg before...and yeah, the mcs have maybe meant I do get a bit more freaked than first time round but that's hardly surprising...

mrsfc mr gin wasn't too keen on the money side but has seen sense. It feels like such a positive step, my care last time was all over the place and just what she did tonight, before I was even 'signed up' with her, has made me feel very safe in her hands :)

Mum and dad are staying too, so I actually get to rest up a bit this weekend. And we may possibly put an offer in on The House tomorrow...

Pains still popping up every now and then. Def a sharp throb, def different to any ligament pain I've had before. Gonna sleep and hope tomorrow I feel all sprightly and chipper...or at least not totally shit.

Smooches and headbutts all round

Muser · 24/09/2010 22:46

Damn, I forgot to come back and reply to spaceshiplollorosso.

Weird pains, yup. They happen. They will freak you out. You will google and decide it must be an ectopic. Of course it almost certainly isn't. All sorts of things are stretching and pulling inside you and it's going to feel weird. You will also get cramps that feel like the droid. You will assume the worst. It won't be. But god it's scary. Early pregnancy is one big mindfuck.

Scorps you might need to take things a bit easy on your roadtrip. My routine in the early weeks was "wake up, puke, struggle through work, feel constantly sick, stagger home, push food around, go to bed at 8pm".

rocketleaf · 24/09/2010 22:47

scorps tbh i don't mind it really as it sort of proves i am diffed IYSWIM? the bloatedness makes sense really as i see it as the predroid bloating having nowhere to go, would be happy to know it doesn't last tho as not sure i could eat ever again!

sorry to hear you are feeling so crappy, i am concerned how i am going to get away with feeling like that at work... just have to blag it I guess. I think you should take it easy and try and scale down your plans or divide them into easily manageable portions with liberally scattered bailing opportunities. You will probably surprise yourself at how much you can manage if it doesn't seem overwhelming.

Muser · 24/09/2010 22:48

Your IM sounds ace gin and I'm glad she reassured you. I hope it doesn't turn out to be something with your kidneys and just goes away.

ginhag · 24/09/2010 22:51

I def agree scorp. if you build things in kind of short chunks with lots of chilling-out bits in between then you'll have a lovely time. The best bit will be spending time with tyf anyway, so if you don't manage to do everything, but take it easy and just have a nice time together, 'twill be a lovely hol.

rocket the first bit is all quite disconcerting. Everything you have described sounds about right tho :)

Brilliant news about the heart beat gin, really brilliant.

Hello cheggers!

rocketleaf · 24/09/2010 23:02

oops x posts with about a thousand of you. cheggers I used to be of a very similar name but only recently joined the BESH community so relative newb (and queue jumper) not sure if we met over there but if not... hello very much.

gin your IM sounds lovely, so glad she was reassuring, I really hope you wake up chipper tomorrow too.

muse ta lady, think its just hit me the menkulling never ends, (duh huh) now its about being diffed then later it'll be about babies then toddlers, etc etc. one of my oldest friends children are just about grown up, one is moving out and one is talking about joining up. now thats what i call scary!!!

Muser · 24/09/2010 23:02

Forgot to say, got home today to find load of bumpf from the NCT. I had emailed about an NCT course and me & MrM are now booked on it. Scary advance planning there, but I heard they book up quickly. Could only see an appropriate one happening in the Very Posh Area near to us, so I'm hoping it's not just Very Posh people who live in massive houses and wear Boden. MrM is quite posh, but I'm quite boringly lower middle class.

Muser · 24/09/2010 23:04

Ha, someone elsewhere told me that pregnancy was really scary until you started to feel the baby moving. I asked if you then didn't start worrying that the baby wasn't moving enough or was moving too much, or was moving in an odd way. Her response was "umm, aha, yes, ummm, that's true, but don't worry you'll be fine".

rocketleaf · 24/09/2010 23:10

So basically what you are telling me is, I should expect to be shitting my pants for the next 9 months? :o

MrsFC · 24/09/2010 23:10

I DO feel a bit better now the I can feel moving. But I still gusset check every time. What's that about!!

NCT is a Good Thing. I'm still very good friends with one of my NCT friends from the boy child's birth. They also had very good advice for the fathers like 'when you get in from work, don't be stressed if the house is a mess, Mum has probably been very busy' Excellent advice. I used it often when I'd been busy eating cake.

Muser · 24/09/2010 23:15
  • 9 months
+ the rest of your natural years Grin

I am looking forward to NCT MrsFC, and I'm sure we'll meet some lovely people. They have also booked me on an early days course for after the birth. I like the fact that they stress it's a space to talk about how YOU'RE doing. Which I'm guessing means discouraging the answer "well he's not sleeping well and he has colic but he's gained 3oz" when someone asks you 'so, how are you?'.

Muser · 24/09/2010 23:16

MrsFC, are you gusset checking for spotting? I have now morphed from checking for signs of bleeding to checking for signs of loss of bladder control. It's a great fear of mine.

MrsFC · 24/09/2010 23:36

Yup, still checking for spotting. That's all kinds of mental right there. This pregnancy has made me a sneeze machine for some reason, which is making tena lady seem like an attractive option...

I like the sound of your post baby class.

Scorpette · 25/09/2010 00:42

CHEGGERS! Was thinking that you'd been a bit quiet of late! Yep, it was getting a no from the FC that won for me - no bastard tells Scorps she can't have a baybee!

Thanks for advice and reassurances about our trips, guys. I think you've over-estimated what they will involve, due to my worrying - mainly TYF driving us to York and me having to tell him where to go (despite him having spent 3 years at Uni there), then we'll wander about looking at shops, cool sights, etc. I don't think I can even face pootling around a few shops! But he is a chilled-out chap - I'm usually nagging him to stop dawdling and spending 57 years looking at stuff (I must confess to occasionally clicking my fingers at him to get him to walk quicker Blush) - so his usual pace will finally work for me Grin We'll probably spend most of the time reading and wayching DVDs and smooching, so will be okay. Will take everyone's advice and take all internal pressure off myswlf to 'have to' feel great and be superactive.

Rocket, the feeling bleeurgh is crap but is indeed reassuring. I had daydreams that I would spend 9 blissful months feeling pain-free and looking beatific Possibly not, eh? Wink

I have started craving chips already. My Mum craved chips with both me and my brother. She also put on 4-5 stone each time (she was 8 stone to start off with, in her defence). This does not please me greatly.

MrsFC · 25/09/2010 07:27

Gotta love white carbs in the first trimester score! Your trip sounds lovely.

rocketleaf · 25/09/2010 07:34

Doesnt it? Haven't been to York for years but hear its lovely. Just have plenty of stops for tea and cake, and a bit more cake.

Although I can't think if a single thing I want to eat right now.

CluckyKate · 25/09/2010 08:39

Yep, you'll def be needing the Tena Rocket - good for post-baby too. Welcome BTW.

Apologies Scorps, was confusing you with Mas on the shopping front - t'was over 100 posts ago and on the last thread (only yesterday tho) so prob all forgotten.

Great news about the planning Box Smile. You still up for some Eddie Catz fun tomorrow???

cheggers · 25/09/2010 08:54

slimming world chips is what you want scorps. free on a green day. you can eat em till the caaaahs come home Smile

so. any sign of lozza in here yet today???

rocketleaf · 25/09/2010 08:55

thanks clucky i will take note. (you have just inspired me to do 20 kegels) your chick is due on my birthday fyi.

rollerbaby · 25/09/2010 09:27

scorpo I couldn't walk very far in early days unless I carried food with me. Make sure TYF has bag of monstermunch or a sausage roll with him at all times.

Would like to agree with all menkullers that kicking is obviously v reassuring, however you will get to the stage where violence in uterus at 3am is less relaxing. Braxton Hicks are now waking me up each night - it's like having a vaccuum packed womb temporarily - really weird. Didn't really have them before, and they seem to have ramped up quite quickly. Makes me realise this is going to happen, and soon.

Mr Moo just commented that we don't really need to do NCT next weekend do we (any fucking excuse) because we have finished our hippo course and are therefore "prepared". I asked him if he knew what to do if I were to pop out for 5 hours. We are going to first one next Saturday.

I have met lots of nice peoples through hippo class so hopefully everyone will be normale and looking forward to boozy baby lunches. okie and I have big plans on this front, so any other sarf Lahdeners put your name down...

MrsFC · 25/09/2010 09:35

I'm East - but can travel - put me down!
Slimmers world chips - yum.

rollerbaby · 25/09/2010 09:50

mrs fc diet branded food? Shame on you. Do you not harvest your own potatoes and deep fry in virgin olive oil?

Will book mini bus and look into All Bar One locations. :)
