I have opened the virtual gin, found the Desperate Romantics and am about to start playing I've Never. Who's with me?

laurielou · 04/10/2010 09:08

Morning,

Pliz someone to tell me when the "blooming" stage begins? Grin. I feel constantly nauseous & dizzy - kind of hungover - I can't sleep, my eyes look like piss-holes in the snow & I have more spots than I ever did in my teens. And I'm only 5 mins diffed, FFS.

Went to a christening yesterday where Mr Loz was Godfather. Italian family too so obviously much hilarity. One of our friend's announced she is diffed. Mr Loz & I just stood stock still, nodding, congratulating. Why do I feel as though I'm lying to everyone?

I have tonnes of crap to do in work this week, plus tonnes of crap I want to sort before holiday. Wah!!

Whinging bint. Ah well, suppose the sooner I do all my bits the sooner I can put pj's back on.

OkieCokie · 04/10/2010 09:17

Alpine I saw this and thought of you. Maybe you can tell her to calm down and eat a raw prawn sarnie. I thought it was our friend at first but nope, the weeks diffed don't add up.

Last week at work for me! I have a lot to do too Laurie but I go from being totally overwhelmed by it all and not giving a shit.

Sickness is a good sign of diffedness.

Cass how is the wee one?

rocketleaf · 04/10/2010 09:21

Morning loz I had a constant headache for the first week and was REALLY thirsty so felt hungover, drink plenty of water, apparently your womb is stealing it all for all sorts of wombular activity.

I went out on sat night, lots of very close friends, one of who is 5 months diffed. We were both drinking soda water and as i ordered at the bar i fished a tiny black fly out of one of them. Joked to 2 of the lads that I'd give that one to diffed friend as she needed the vitamin B. They both misheard and thought I was announcing being diffed in a very roundabout way. Cue much forced hilarity from me as I explained the mistake. It feels so wrong doesn't it lozzer? I am just banking it so we can have a good laugh about it in 2 months time.

Off to see mid wife in a mo, I thought it wouldn't be for a few weeks but apparently they do it as soon as round here.

Cosmosis · 04/10/2010 09:36

Woohooo VAG and massive VAGbaybee brill news Grin

Casserole · 04/10/2010 10:00

I never blossomed last time Lolly !! But I think generally after about 12 weeks is when it's meant to start. Some women bloom from the off, of course.

I remember last time being about 24 weeks, at work, and a colleague looking at me and saying in a loud voice "YOu're not exactly blooming, are you?" !!! Rude caaaaaah Angry

Ministew is doing better thanks Cokie . He sstill has the rash but it's not all over anymore, and it's intermittent; seems to come up after eating / exertion. And it's just red bumps when it comes up rather than hives/wheals all over. He doesn't seem bothered by it anymore. So that's all much better. Keep meaning to phone MW and ask for slapped cheek blood test. Realised on Friday I was meant to have booked a GP appt for 12 weeks, too, and am now 13.5. Oops. I feel really disconnected from the whole thing at the moment tbh. Just want to sleep and get through the days.

AND I had some lovely Brie at the weekend. Now, I thought it was ok if it was made with pasteurised milk, non? But throwing the wrapper away after nom-nom-nom-ing it I saw that although it was pasteurised it still had a warning for the diffed. What gives? I don't regret a single lovely mouthful but am confused as to why we're avoiding things if they're pasteurised... I don't have any baby bookes anymore, gave em all away, so perhaps I'm misremembering the point?

OkieCokie · 04/10/2010 10:12

So Cass have you had you scan yet then? Did I miss that? I think the brie issue is something to do with listeria but could be wrong. Here is the ESH favourite guidelines on various can/can't eat matters

I had a rare steak last night and 2 glasses of red wine. Surely I have damaged my baybeeee...

PerfectDromedary · 04/10/2010 10:15

Still not blossoming here, neither. Constantly too tired to function. Luckily tube strike = working from home, hurrah!

Cass Pasteurised is fine, the cheese people are probably just covering their back in case a pregnant person sues them for some reason.

Am more worried about the outrageous bullshit being peddled on the swine flu jab board. Seriously, it has turned into the inevitable MMR argument. I know exactly what I think about MMR's link to autism. And it has no bearing on whether or not to be jabbed against flu. Coupled with watching tv programme in which woman took her husband and kids off to malaria zone armed only with homeopathic remedies last night, my blood is starting to boil...Grr.

Sorry if this is controversial, it's not deliberate if so. Am happy to rescind all statements at the moment rather than have a fight. Bit delicate as good friends have had IVF cycle which did not result in pregnancy and it has made me very sad.

maswera · 04/10/2010 10:55

Morning PESHlies. Back from a week visiting the rellies and getting my bump patted and poked. Am surprised to find that this doesn't bug me actually - even when people I don't really know do it. I would have thought it would be the kind of thing that would annoy me, but it doesn't bother me at all. What about the rest of yers...?

Big congrats to TheFamilyVAG - looking forward to more news...

Am having bloody awful backache in bed these days - has anyone used a pregnancy pillow & would they recommend one?

rocketleaf · 04/10/2010 10:59

So sorry for your friends drom that is very sad :( I am a little worried about my RL BESH friend. They have been told to go for ICSI as they both have ishoos, but they have also put her on clomid in the mean time. Last time I spoke to her she was all: We are not putting any pressure on ourselves as I really don't mind waiting til Jan to get diffed (that would be when the ISCI cycle would be) Although I admire her chilled outness, I am not sure she realises that the ISCI might not actually work first time.

We didn't take any of our anti malarial drugs when traveling after the first month they made us feel shit. We met this guy who was doing his PHD in tropical diseases and he said the only way to avoid getting malaria was to not get bitten by an infected mosquito. None of the drugs actually prevent it. Of course that was just his opinion but he did back it up with facts which unfortunately I can't remember anymore.

Lozzzzzles I also have another huge blind spot brewing, it seems that as one goes away anther one pops up somewhere else. And dark circles. Blooming my arse.

Casserole · 04/10/2010 11:00

I had my scan thanks Okie . It was a bit of a non-event so I don't think I posted about it on here, plus mini got sick right after. The sonographer got v cross saying my bladder was empty (when I'd drunk a litre and a half and was dying for a wee) , and when I tried to nicely say that she got really arsey and would barely turn the monitor towards me, wouldn't turn the heartbeat sound on and wouldn't give us a picture either! Which, now I read it back, sounds appalling. At the time I was just too tired to argue. I did see microstew briefly and he/she was doing crazy fung fu fighting in there so that was nice. I'd have liked a picture though to keep me going. Maybe we'll get a private one done, I don't know.

I sound flat, don't I? I am becoming more aware of how disconnected I feel. I think (hope) it's a combination of the sickness and tiredness, exam stress and general 2nd time roundness. Hmm.

Thanks for confirmation about pasteurised stuff Drom. Now I want more brie, but this time melted over a rare steak Okie ! I think my appetite is returning Grin

I don't go onto discussions about jabs anymore. They always turn ridiculous. That's true of lots of subjects on here though, isn't it!

OkieCokie · 04/10/2010 11:02

Drom I have a friend that was a tax accountant that decided it wasn't her calling and retrained in Chinese Medicine. She lives overseas now but visited in the summer after spending 6 months in a Yoga retreat in India. Now, each to their own and all that but she did give me a bit of a lecture for giving my PFB the MMR jab and advised all kinds of homeopathic remedies instead. I was this close to telling her to shove it up her arse but she is a long term school friend that in this case we just decided not see eye to eye. I spent bloody AGES researching MMR!

Mas I didn't get on with the dream genii although I know others rate it. I like a bog standard V shaped one. Whatever you do do not order it from www.pregnancypillow.co.uk - they have the worst customer service ever the bunch of twats. I am still in dispute with them 4 months on!

SilverSky · 04/10/2010 11:44

Morning preggos.

I don't believe it - the rain has stopped. For. Now. Currently sat watching horsie scoff it's dinner and thinking nice day for a ride and for a brief second I forgot I was preggo and can't. That's what rooting round your tack does for you!!

drom sorry for your pals.

Better crack on - back later for a nosey catch up.

Scorpette · 04/10/2010 11:45

Sadly, Cunty, I don't think I can blame the vom on that tablet - because I've just majestically spewed in the loo (including all over the toilet seat. Getting on my knees to clean it was a true joy). Mmm, doesn't bile taste scrumptious? Hmm Angry Sad

Drom, I have a weird take on vaccines - I think the MMR Autism link is bollocks but I'm still going to insist on single vaccines for this 'un, because me and my brother reacted very badly to vaccinations (back in the day, we were often given several at a time) and, in fact, we had @90% of everything we were immunised against anyway! Apart from the jabs making us both v ill, I had scarlet fever and mumps, we both had chickenpox and whooping cough and so on (interestingly, we're both naturally immune to TB and never had to have the arm-scarring jab). My Mum once asked a Doc how come we'd got the things we'd been immunised against and he said it was probably due to having too many at once. I'm probably being illogical to think that lightening would strike thrice (as it were), but there we go. Due to our experiences, me and my bro are highly dubious of the efficacy of the bloody things, although realise immunisation is more sophistimacated nowadays.

Not looking for arguments either, ta y'all :)

Scorpette · 04/10/2010 11:51

Gah, also meant to say how sorry I was to hear about your pal, Drom Sad SO unfair.

OkieCokie · 04/10/2010 12:05

Silver the rain had been a bit of a PITA this weekend. I heard pitter patter in my bathroom on Sat night and went in to see rain drops coming through one of the spotlights. Bah! Sent Mr C into loft to check it out but he couldn't fiind anything so we ignored it and it has stopped now! Smile

laurielou · 04/10/2010 12:29

Drom so sorry to hear about your pals Sad. That's really tough.

"Doesn't bile taste scrumptious" - scorps you iz evil Grin.

Scorpette · 04/10/2010 12:56

I'll tell you what's evil - I've had a bit of a spot-lump on my jaw, just to the side of my chin, for about 10 days now. I've had this sort of thing in the past (hormonal horrors) and they usually just go down okay quite quickly. Except this one is not disappearing and the skin on it has started to go dark purple! Shock I haven't squeezed it, knocked it or anything and am v worried. It can't be right for skin to start going dark purple! Anyone had this grossness before? It's not massive or protruding or anything - just looks like I've got a small dark smudge of aubergine-hued eyeshadow on my jaw!

Medee · 04/10/2010 13:15

Alpine she does mention the odd person, a maternity nurse, who helped with feeding issues, but that was later on. She mentions Jamie's PAs so I guess they helped a bit too. It covers just her first though, and while she does sound very hands on, I wouldn't be surprised if she had got some help in with the next 3. Her mum and sisters help out a lot too, her mum stayed for the first week or two after the birth.

rollerbaby · 04/10/2010 14:40

cass your scanner sounds like a right old cow. I would have demanded my picture!

scorps cyst type spots are not fun. Do.not.touch. BTW I thought your article was v good.

okiekeep breathing - Friday is nearly here...

As for blooming. I think I had a brief moment at about 23 weeks when I had this sudden burst of energy, ran up several flights of stairs. And then knackered my pelvis. Downhill after that point. In all honesty I felt better towards the second half of the 2nd trimester. Bar crap sleeping, I think I've had it relatively easy. I still don't feel at the point where I'm like get this baby out. But there's time!

Popped over to JL this afternoon. Heaven on earth... Everyone's at work and had the place to myself. Have stocked up on all kinds of domestic cleaning shite and BIG pants.

Had a lovely afternoon yesterday with okie and a few of my friends for my non babyshower. Ate lots and talked about babies non stop. Had some lovely pressies and generally felt quite spoilt.

Off for a hippo birth snooze now. back soon.

OkieCokie · 04/10/2010 14:43

Plz to send me Scorp's article.

Scorpette · 04/10/2010 14:48

NO POSTING OF LINK TO MY ARTICLE HERE, PLEASE - RL NAME ALERT! Grin

Honey, fank you v much. I had a bit of a mare as it was badly edited, etc., but all feedback has been good, so PHEW!

OkieCokie · 04/10/2010 14:53

Don't worry Scorps - can someone post on t'other place? Would that be acceptable?

OkieCokie · 04/10/2010 14:54

Found it...

Muser · 04/10/2010 15:16

Please PESHies. How early were the early arrivals here? SIL is having an emergeny cs at 32 weeks and I'm in bits. I am terrified for her and the baby. But it will be ok won't it?

OkieCokie · 04/10/2010 15:19

What is the reason for it Muse? Many a baby are born as early as 26 weeks and are OK.
