I have opened the virtual gin, found the Desperate Romantics and am about to start playing I've Never. Who's with me?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OkieCokie · 29/09/2010 09:36

Pol read that article. Think it is a bit late for me now. I have probably got a child with severe anxiety issues! I had stressful CVS time (and develop psoriasis which I have not had for 10 yrs+ as a result of the stress) and face redundancy during this pregnancy - does not bode well on the calm affect on my unborn child! Someone did advise that a state of calmness is required post 28 weeks. I have been trying...!

Casserole · 29/09/2010 10:30

Muse if a tablet before bed does it, then go for it, I say. Take the drucks! (Open the box!)

Sent my little plague victim off to preschool today dosed and creamed. It's harvest today and he's dressed as peas in a pod, didn't want him to miss it. They were happy for him to come in as docs seems sure he's not contagious.

Curly Manstew has anaphylaxis and has ended up in A&E on steroids several times now. It's a scary thing, isn't it? He carries an epipen, they're still not sure what causes it. When Mini was 7 weeks old I had a call from the police at midnight saying Mr Stew was being put into an ambulance - he had an anaphylactic reaction at the wheel and crashed his car. He was fine (car written off) but it was THE worst moment of my life, by far. I breastfed Mini but was so glad at that point that he would take a bottle; was already dialling my Mum to come and sit with him with one hand whilst still talking to the police on the other phone.

The hosp said yesterday they wouldn't give mini steroids unless he started having breathing difficulties, which I'm fine about. Anyway. The hives are as bad as ever today but the cream is stopping the itching so I'm happy to carry on like that for a few more days, see what happens. Thanks for all asking, anyway.

Okie I just accept anyone these days if we've a BESH/PESH/FESH in common, it will land me in trouble one day I'm sure! But v nice to be befriended by your Grin

I am planning to cook again tonight. Twice in one week! Surely this must mean the sickness is getting better. I can't bear any more cheese on toast, ready meals or takeaways...

Ariesgirl · 29/09/2010 10:49

What a fucking nightmare Cass ShockShockShock

When I had an allergic reaction once (not quite anaphylaxis but swollen eyes, hives, closing airways etc) I had a jab of adrenaline. Is that normal? Has that been suggested at all? Maybe it's only for an emergency thing perhaps.

Good luck with the cookery.

Muser · 29/09/2010 12:50

It is my wedding anniversary today, 3 years! I said to MrM we shouldn't buy gifts. He decided this also meant forgetting a card would be fine as well. Pah. And when I said 'shouldn't buy gifts' I thought I might still get a bunch of flowers or chocs or something. That's really unfair isn't it? I shall blame the hormones.

laurielou · 29/09/2010 13:53

I haz tested again & apparently I'm still diffed Shock

Fuck me! (oh, wait, he did) Grin

Muser · 29/09/2010 15:51

Ah, the checking you're still pregnant bit. How are you feeling laurie. Has it sunk in yet? Are you in de nile?

SilverSky · 29/09/2010 17:11

Laurie that's the kind of thing I would say!! Class!!

Welcome to the Diffed Deli.

Scorpette · 29/09/2010 17:55

Ew, Lozza, just because you done it wiv a man, doesn't mean you need to admit it. I wished inside a faerie ring, that's how I got my win. Hmm

Cass, is horrible about poor ManStew. Must be so worrying. Despite being allergic to 99% of things (or so it seems), I'm lucky that none of them are anaphylactic, but the bad ones are v scary, so I can only guess at the fear involved. Sad Poor him. Am glad that MiniStew is well enough to enjoy Harvest Festival (that was always my fave at school). The thought of him in his little pod outfit melted my heart! :)

HAPPY ANNIV, Muser! You need to be less subtle about cards: for all card-worthy occasions, I have to march TYF to a shop where I know I like the stuff (Paperchase if he refuses to walk far), take him in, wave my hand in the direction of the ones I like and tell him I'll wait outside. Upon his exit from the shop, if the card is for Xmas, an anniv or for someone else, he always asks if I've bought one too and is then amazed that I have managed the Stephen Hawking-esque feat of knowing that an important date is coming up and have prepared for it. Xmas surprises him every year. (To his credit, he has lovely taste and puts much thought in... when he finally gets around to it)

I have discovered that acupuncture + ice pops + eating something small every 2 hours = a massive difference to my nausea. Have no cash but am going to go every week till the voms subside. Can't put a figure on feeling better. The ice-pops are genius, thanks for the heads-up, everyone (am having 100% fruit ones).

Although I do keep holding them out to TYF then whipping them away, saying 'Wanna lick? PSYCH' and, bless him, he has no idea what I'm on about. I think his happy, tolerant confusion in general is the basis for our relationship success Grin

MrsFC · 29/09/2010 19:19

How did ministew get on at nursery today cass? Is he any better?

Happy Anniversary Muse! I would say I understand, but seeing s I can't even get the FC to marry me... Smile Did you get home this evening to some loverly flowers and card? No? Oh dear... Dont mess with a pregnant woman...

Great news about the ice pops & missing nausea score.

And Lorry - you are not a proer menkulist until you have bought the CBD tests and watched the weeks go up... it's lovely to have you here!

SkaterGrrrrl · 29/09/2010 19:30

Hey everyone

Really must find more time to post... been lurking though.

We are sleep deprived but happy and SkaterBabe is getting fatter by the day

Not much news otherwise - the highlight of my day has been cutting baby fingernails. Must. get. out. more.

Casserole · 29/09/2010 19:45

Aries yes, the epipen gives adrenaline, and he's had it administered in A&E too. Your reaction sounds like it would be classed as anaphylactic to me. Did anyone follow it up?

Day 5 in the plaguewatch house and the following to report:

  1. Rash no better, but cream helping itching.
  2. A small spotty peapod sang his harvest songs with gusto Grin
MrsFC · 29/09/2010 19:58

Awwwwwwww!!!!!! LOVING the singing spotty pea pod!

Casserole · 29/09/2010 20:06

People have been giving us a wide berth all day today Grin I might start ringing a bell as we approach!

rocketleaf · 29/09/2010 20:14

Happy anniversary to muser awwww at minipeastew and yey to nonsickyscorps

is it wrong that I am a bit jealous of your sickness scorps? everyone keeps going on about how its a good sign and I have nothing, niet, and nada. I am knackered and have a constant headache tho, does that count? (not to mention crying at the drop of a hat)

Also work want me to go to alaska (dont ask) for a week in about 2 weeks time, its going to take about 20 hrs and 4 flights to get there. Part of me knows flying is fine and really really wants to go but part of me has the fear that Something Bad will happen, or best case scenario I will just be completely knackered (its over a weekend) So I have had to tell my boss much earlier than I had intended (before my flipping parents ffs) as they were going to book it and I wanted to wait until I went to the docs tomorrow. She has said its entirely up to me but there's not really anyone else who can go, I really don't know what to do. At least if I was hurling everywhere I would have a legitimate excuse not to go. Please calm me down with tales of successful PESH long haul trips?

sorry for me me me post, seem to have had nothing but stress since I found out when I just want to chill out and enjoy it.

OkieCokie · 29/09/2010 20:17

Or put a cross on your front door Cass

Casserole · 29/09/2010 20:17

How many weeks are you Rocket ?

Casserole · 29/09/2010 20:20

Grin Okie

rocketleaf · 29/09/2010 20:23

Only 5 cass will be 7 by the time of the trip. Going to speak to GP tomorrow but they are usually clueless.

Casserole · 29/09/2010 20:26

Does it have to happen in 2 weeks time? Sickness tends to be at it's worst at 7-10 weeks so right now the fact that you're feeling good doesn't neccessarily mean you will feel good in 2 weeks - not meaning to curse you and I sincerely hope you do feel fine. But there's absolutely no way I could have done a trip like that at that point, in either of my pregnancies. But at 5 weeks this time I was still feeling ok.

Can't it be pushed back 6 weeks or so?

I would honestly say no. Or at the very least not book anything just yet.

Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear Confused

OkieCokie · 29/09/2010 20:27

Rocket Box would be best placed to give you advise on flying while preggers. She is the expert in that area Wink - you may find her the FESH spa more nowadays. I travel a fair amount with work - Longest I did was to LA when 26 weeks. I found the first 12 weeks pretty tiring to be honest and felt better middle trimester but I guess you don't have this choice. With regard to anything bad happening I don't think flying will contribute to anything like that (as long as you are sensible with DVT precautions and moving about and that), it is more to do with coping with the tiredness. Are they able to send you business class? I am not sure I would go that far in the cheap seats!

rocketleaf · 29/09/2010 20:48

Unfortunately it can't be moved and it definitely can't be business class, the reason we are doing the 4 flights is to save £300 pp. Itinerary is Manchester to London, to LA to Seattle to the arse end of Alaska. I am used to long hauls as have been to both the US and the FE with work but I tend not to sleep unless plied with alcohol and/or a valium which for obvious reasons are not an option :o

Really perplexed tbh as will feel really guilty and a bit stupid if I bail on it and then feel fine in 2 weeks time!

Thanks, i'll see if I can track down Rocket Box.

rocketleaf · 29/09/2010 20:55

Also re Something Bad. I know the flying wouldn't cause that but obviously there is a chance it could just happen spontaneously during the first trimester. So its just the thought of having to go through that on the other side of the world with people I barely know IYSWIM.

Thanks for your comments PESHies, sorry if tI am being a bit daft, spose just cos I have waited for this for so long, I am super paranoid that something will screw it up.

Muser · 29/09/2010 21:03

I felt so awful at 7-8 weeks that I told work early so I could get out of being made to go to other bits of London...

Backinthebox · 29/09/2010 21:08

Rocket your GP is right - it is entirely down to you and how you feel whether you choose to fly during your pregnancy. Did you know, pilots are legally allowed to fly in their second trimester? Not allowed to in their first trimester due to not wanting to put leave an aircraft with only one pilot if the preggo one feels ill, rather than anything else. Flying in itself is highly unlikely to cause anything to go wrong, and sadly if you DO have anything go wrong during a flight, it is much the same as if you are on the ground - there is probably not much they will be able to do about it, just a wait and see scenario. FWIW I flew the length of Africa twice and probably carried over 1200 passengers before I found out I was pregnant. And I flew a radioactive plane (which freaked me out a lot, but DD didn't have 2 heads or anything!) It's up to you - if you are puking your guts up, don't go. If you feel fine - why not? Sleep lots on the plane.

rocketleaf · 29/09/2010 21:09

Hmm, other side of the world not looking like a good idea then :o Should you be being grovelled to pampered right now muse?
