Hi everyone. Cannot believe how quickly this thread is moving, its so lovely to have so many people to go through this all with. So sorry to hear more stories of people who have had a really tough time with previous pregnancies. I feel rough and shattered, but not too sick. Day off today and trudged round the supermarket but then persuaded ds to sleep then watch tv until we had to do school run. Really fed up at work at the moment so am desperate to tell them so i can start the planning process for mat leave but only 6+4 so had better leave it for a while yet. Haven't ever paid for a scan before but with all the talk of earsly scans on hear I am v tempted.
Sasamaxx - pizza went down a treat thanks for the voucher, only problem was that it was v v late coming but I have since had a call from the manager to apologise, he's sending a voucher for freebies! V impressive customer service from DOminos :-)
Next big hurdle for me is telling my mother. After last pregnancy she kept saying to me 'you won't have another will you, I couldn't go through all that again'. She is pretty textbook narcissistic personality so never a suprise that everything revolves around her but still pretty galling. Will be interesting to see how she responds! Luckily I have a wonderful mother in law.

Take care all. Good luck with the early scans.

Hello ladies,

My gosh! This thread is sooo busy - its lovely. Smile

My nausea is settling in now, like lots of us. It's set off by random things, but perfumes/aftershaves are pretty reliable! The Tube is a nightmare for me - someone was wearing Clinique Aromatics Elixir (which I hate anyway), but it made me think I was going to throw up there and then Shock. I shall have to carry round a pomander (sp?) as though I was a 16thC lady. Smile

cep · 20/10/2010 21:12

i didn't realise they got full, how many posts can it take?

sasamaxx · 20/10/2010 21:13

clench - so glad your dominos code worked - rubbish about it taking so long but YAY for free pizza!!!

Today my nausea seemed to come in waves rather than a constant sick feeling. It was easier to deal with certainly.

I don't have wind quibbler - just terrible constipation.

All really rubbish I know but it amused me briefly

Beesok · 20/10/2010 22:10

Am I the only one looking at baby sites online? I am looking all at the cute stuff (half of which I probably don't need) that I will be buying soon ;)

I have almost picked a pram already ;)

yeah am crazy :) and a shopaholic :)

so just to move the subject ( for a little while) from all the nausea etc. how are you preparing for the new baby?

Experienced mums - how much stuff do you REALLY need? How many blankets etc?
What is an absolute must have and what is just an option for excited first timers? ;)

BTW stupid question - I plan on having baby at hospital 10 minutes walking from my house, we don't have a car and don't intend to buy one do I still need a car seat? We are probably just going to get a cab home :)
I am planning o buying a 3-in-1 pram (stiff edges) so would that be enough for the cab ride home?

I know this is waaaaay too early to be worrying about stuff like this but I am excited :))))))

moomin156 · 20/10/2010 22:20

Hi beesok of course your not the only one looking at stuff. As a first timer you cant help yourself.
I on;y need the basics as at the minute live in a 2 bed converted pigsty but will be moving with DH's job in august so dont know what space we will have.

Beesok · 20/10/2010 22:28

ha ha ha thank God :) My husband thinks I'm obsessed quote "Now you have another excuse for shopping!" ;)

Baby room is currently our computer/guitar/cat room - I anticipate a lot of sulkiness from both males (Cat & Hubby) when their stuff gets cleared out :)

We are planning on trying the montessori method with floor bed etc so really need to baby proof the room :) I need everything from rug to blinds as we've kept pretty empty and uncluttered on purpose

moomin156 · 20/10/2010 22:31

well i dont have a spare room at all as the bedrooms are in the eaves the spare room is a dressing room as you cant put wardrobes in them......mom was trying to give me suggestions today. Thing is we know we have to move next august so then we can plan properly and we will make do until then.......

Beesok · 20/10/2010 22:43

I plan on having baby in our room for the first few months so want to get a bassinet/moses basket/ small cot - preferably one that allows me to be as close to baby as possible so that waking up and night feeds are less of a hassle..

Do you have room in your bedroom for a cot? Or do you want the baby in a separate room right from the start?
If you are due in june and moving in august then that might work? I agree on not planning too much until you know what sort of space you'll have.

Funny about wardrobes - we don't have one in our bedroom - a massive purpose built one in ...baby's room. So now I might have to buy some sort of storage (was thinking of an armoire style) for all of baby's stuff which I will put in our room for the time being (it should be OK until he's 1 at least).

I feel like I have SO MUCH to do! Need to calm down :)

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 20/10/2010 22:55

We will need a new thread shortly, this one is about to fill up!

melltobe · 21/10/2010 02:55

IssyStark thanks for the FSA link. It's really useful to have all of the info in one place. Having said that, I'm finding it difficult to stick to! I'm happy to avoid what I'm not meant to eat but I'm worried that I'm generally eating too little. My queasiness has really put me off lots of things. Also I feel bad that I don't eat fish as I know how good it is. I just really don't like it and haven't eaten it for years so there's no way I could stomach it right now!

I had no idea that the threads had a maximum capacity either. I really liked Balletpink's suggestions and Jue in June espeically made me smile :)

wonnaywombat · 21/10/2010 05:31

Morning all and a BFW (big fat welcome!) and congrats to all the newcomers.

Jue in June gets my vote too - who wants to get is started? I think we have 34 messages to go after this one!

Feeling a bit more emotional than I thought I would after yesterday's scan, but in a positive way. DH sent gorgeously supportive text that nearly had me blubbing at my desk!

Need to stop watching BBC Lifestyle - Rick Stein was on his Mediterraean tour in Sicily last night and I was virtually eating the TV as the yummy looking pasta dishes kept coming!

Hope everyone is feeling as crook as they want to! [hgrin]

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 21/10/2010 06:59

Yep still feeling crook here Grin

Definitely having the baby in our room, we are fortunate in that we have a very large master bedroom so have room for a cot.

I am looking at getting a bed side cot, as I found it awkward lifting DS out of the Moses basket to feed him, but I don't want the baby in bed with initially as DS sometimes gets in with us still. DS was in our room until he was about 7 months, and I regret moving him out then as he was still having night feeds at nearly 2yo, when he stopped of his own accord.

So I am determined DC2 won't be rushed out of our room.

I think if you have room for a moses basket/crib you ought to have baby in your room. It is easier on you as you are not having to go into another room, also it is safer from a SIDS perspective - baby regulates its breathing better by listening to you.

Wobblewatcher · 21/10/2010 07:28

TheQuibbler I too am full of wind!

Did another pregnancy test this morning, line is stronger than yesterday if that's possible!

Igglybuff · 21/10/2010 07:32

marking place before new thread is done and I can't find it!

takethatlady · 21/10/2010 08:02

Phew! Long reading!

Already can't remember anything I wanted to say, but congrats to all those who joined in the last 16 hours or so, since I did!

wobblewatcher sorry for the late reply. Last time I had very faint BFPs on the Friday and Saturday and Sunday, and though they got very slightly darker they were always faint. On the Monday they were getting fainter but I blamed it on the tests, didn't do one on the Tuesday and then on Wednesday got a BFN and started bleeding later that day. This time they got really dark within a couple of days. Also yesterday I broke apart the four Clearblue digitals I have done because I found the link which explains what they're meant to look like inside:

www.clearblue.com/uk/HCP/pdf/CI_monograph.pdf

Mine are textbook [hsmile]. From Friday's very faint lines to yesterday's test which has three clearly visible thick lines (not quite enough for 3 weeks+ - in fact it still said 1-2 weeks). So relieved to see there's clearly a healthy HCG rise, especially as my boob pain keeps fluctuating and is the only symptom I really have.

How about you? Sorry to hear you had the same thing last cycle.

Someone said a chemical pregnancy is just the same as getting your period late. That's not really true. Even if I hadn't tested the sore boobs and the horrifying clots I passed would have made it obvious something was wrong. That was not a normal period for me, and I was only two days late. Plus I get a bit annoyed that people say it's better not to know - I am so glad I knew. It let me know I could conceive, and I'm glad I knew a little blighter was trying to grow and got to feel sad that it didn't work. That's just me.

Any miscarriage before six weeks is considered a chemical pregnancy, anything after that a 'clinical miscarriage'.

theQuibbler · 21/10/2010 08:03

I like all of BalletPink's suggestions, but my vote also goes to Jue in June Smile.

Beesok · 21/10/2010 08:13

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace what type of bedside cot are you thinking of? I found this beautiful one but it seems like it's not in production :(

mrshedgie · 21/10/2010 08:33

Hello all,

still here, just not having a great time of it at the moment. I've been ill in bed most of the time since I came home from hospital with the gall bladder attack. I was vomiting most of yesterday, and keep getting stabbing pains from the sore area where my gall bladder is. I'm just feeling sorry for myself, lol.Yesterday was a bad, discouraging day, but hopefully today will be better and the nausea will begin to wane soon. I can't eat what I feel like because of the gallstones;I could end up back in hospital, so it makes it hard to control the nausea.

Yvonne, 7+6

sasamaxx · 21/10/2010 08:41

Beesok - what it the montessori method?

WRT to cots etc, I have an armsreach mini co-sleeper that attaches to the side of the bed. It's quite roomy. To be honest, though, they tend to just end up in my bed until they are about 1. The co-sleeper is useful because it means they can't roll out, and it holds things like breast pads, lucozade sport (for the early days) and water later on, magazine, lansinoh cream and all that stuff.
I will (as usual) try to use it, because it's a brilliant thing, but sleep is just so important to me that I can't be bothered trying to move them etc during the night [hblush]

sasamaxx · 21/10/2010 08:43

Oh my goodness - I got all excited there and had a flashback to those middle of the night feeds when all the world is still and it's just you and your baby in this magical new baby-land.....[hsmile]

mrshedgie sorry you're feeling so rubbish. Really hope it all settles down for you.

7+5 today

yellowtomato · 21/10/2010 09:04

Morning everyone

Still no symptoms here (5+5) and so I am def not looking at any baby things or making any plans. Trying to keep expectations low and not get too excited. It is really difficult but I know looking at baby stuff really won't help.

Supersunnyday I did finally manage to arrange the early scan, lots of bad communication and phone calls etc but it is now booked for next Thursday when I'll be (hopefully) 6+5.

The days are going by so slowly....not sure how I'll make it to then...I know I'll be v stressed on the day too.......

Hope everyone else is feeling a bit less crazy than me!
