Issystark - congratulations on your BFP.
Sending lots of sticky vibes - what a great attitude you have. I really hope this one hangs on for you Smile

cep some parts of world say to avoid smoked salmon due to listeria but the risk is so small that it isn't recommended in the UK. And of course if you cook the smoked slamon, just as if you cook blue and mould-ripened cheeses, it is perfectly safe - see Can I eat smoked salmon when pregnant and Can I eat brie and blue cheese for more info. I really recommend the FSA When You are pregnant website - it debunks all the myths and gives you the straight facts.

As for eggs, I take care to buy British Lion marked eggs as they are all from flocks vaccinated from salmonella so the changes of getting sick from a soft boiled egg are infinistinly small. However I wouldn't trust any eggs used in the catering industry as many of those come from elsewhere in Europe where salmonella is still rife. However this is my own judgement call.

IssyStark · 20/10/2010 18:21

cep Thanks & waves down the M27

sasa Thanks, I need as muck sticky as I can get!

moomin156 · 20/10/2010 18:28

sasamaxx Mmmmm maybe i could get my wedding dress out again, mind you not sure i would fit in it even though it was only 7 months ago.
cep smoked salmon is due to a very low risk of listeria, some sites say its ok some say avoid. The same with undercooked eggs and salmonella......i have cooked mine slightly longer but not 100% cooked. i think the white is higher risk than the yolk but that might be an old wives tale

petitech · 20/10/2010 18:30

Hello Ladies

Wow hasnt the thread been busy the last 24hrs. I have read thru and caught up but forgive me if I don't respond directly to names, can't keep track!

Re MS - I was shocking on Tuesday then DH suggested having big bowl of porridge before bed last night and definitely felt better this morning, not puke free but def an improvement.

I seem to find that fruit helps quite a bit too. I just dont get it though, I thought you werent supposed to need extra calories in T1 but I'm eating loads woops!

Does anyone have a mini BUMP yet, the last 2 days I have a distinct little bump, seems far too early, I'm guessing it's mostly made of chips!

moomin156 · 20/10/2010 18:31

Cross posted with Issy.......
welcome Issy and fingers crossed for you. Loved that programme, some of the couples on there were just great and i have to say it seemed a lovely unit

moomin156 · 20/10/2010 18:33

Hi petitech, it really is a busy post.....the MS must be horrible but a reassuring sign for you.
The literature states you only need an extra 100 calories a day...yeah right, i think on here we all agree that we NEED carbs by the bucketfull

Beesok · 20/10/2010 18:58

This post is out of control!!! Shame because seems really interesting and it's nice to talk to people who are going through similar issues - I am dying to tell everyone and just relax about it :)

We've told family and close friends but haven't made an official announcement. I have an early scan scheduled on Nov 1, so will be relaxed after that.

Had some minor pains last week and ended up in A&E so they scanned me the next day :) The consultant was super nice and took her time, showed me the little "sack" confirming that pregnancy is in the right place and said to come back on the 1st to make sure everything is OK as she couldn't see much more

Good luck to everyone! I hope we can all pass the 12 week mark and RELAX!

Am a bit anxious because I think I am 6 weeks but so far no morning sickness, nausea, everything tastes the same!

Minione · 20/10/2010 19:34

Hi everyone - I can't keep up! Hope everybody is ok, I am shattered!!!

cep · 20/10/2010 20:05

waves back up the m27 to Issystark.

luckily i don't like smoked salmon anyway, but i have been reading "the pregnancy book" my mw gave me and it told me i can have steak rare (or in mycase medium) as long as the outside is cooked and sealed properly.. Relieved, but still not sure i'll feel safe enough to have it.

sasamaxx · 20/10/2010 20:09

Oh I love smoked salmon and rare steak but my biggest problem is definitely the eggs.
I'm not sure if mine are lionmarked but I always leave the yolk partially runny anyway Blush

GoodVibrations · 20/10/2010 20:12

Evening ladies. Well I surrender. I have tried to read through all the threads but my memory has failed me as I'm so tired, so I've forgotten all the posts I wanted to reply to Blush

So...very sorry for the lack of personal replies but a big congrats and welcome to the (million!) newcomers. Big wave also to the ladies I recognise from the June bus :)

I'm sure this thread will settle down when we all (fingers crossed) reach the 12 week mark. Early stages are really tough, mentally & physically, so we all need to vent as much as possible!.

I've been really poorly with morning sickness, right through the night so no sleep for me :( Finding working full time & juggling a toddler really difficult, but I know the end is in sight so trying to stay positive!

Have had loads of cravings - sausages, dairylea (!!!), mini guerkins, cheese, milk, pasta, pies (any variety!)......

9 weeks today for me. Counting down the days :)

moomin156 · 20/10/2010 20:12

sasamaxx if you get them from a supermarket they will be lion marked.....its just if you get them direct from the farm or friends with chickens

cep · 20/10/2010 20:13

me to sasamaxx, will have to check if stamped. but do not like hardboiled unless for a picnic.

sasamaxx · 20/10/2010 20:28

Ah thanks for that moomin156. Annoyingly, I do usually get them from a friend with chickens so will have to move to the pale yolk supermarket version for the next few months then grrrrrrr Wink

sasamaxx · 20/10/2010 20:28

So in fact, they can't possible be lionmarked - duh! lol

cep · 20/10/2010 20:29

am feeling very jealous of you goodvibrations. 9 weeks seems a lifetime away. Envy 12 weeks even longer :) this is going to be a looonnng pregnancy.

mummynumber2 · 20/10/2010 20:29

Hi. I've been lurking for a while and am quite cautiously joining you!

I'm due on June 7th and it's been a real rollercoaster so far! I conceived after our first attempt at ivf and all was going well until last Monday when I had quite a lot of bleeding and stomach cramps, had scan and was told was probably miscarrying. On Friday, to everyone's surprise a strong heart beat was found! Turned out I had twins and one miscarried, although the other seems to be doing well. I've become a constant knicker checker and am slowly becoming stir crazy after 2 weeks off work!
I've worked out that morning sickness is A very loose term, for me it's morning, daytime, evening and night sickness! The worst thing is I can't go into the kitchen without throwing up, does anyone have any tips?

Oh, it's my first btw but will be 4th in the family. Have 3 dsc's 1 lives with us and the other 2 are with us just under half the time.

sasamaxx · 20/10/2010 20:36

Congratulations mummynumber2
That's amazing to conceive on your first cycle of IVF (I believe)

cep · 20/10/2010 20:38

welcome mummynumber2 and congratulations.

CuppaMouldyBatBallsBrothJanice · 20/10/2010 20:42

Welcome and congrats mummynumber2. Sounds like you've had a bit of a scary time. I guess that's why they implant 2 embryos.

I know what you mean about feeling sick when walking into the kitchen, particularly if the bin is full or there's something festering in the sink!! I had a friend who used to work in mortuary and he used to wipe menthol under his nose before entering to overpower the nasty aromas. So maybe some vicks or olbas oil - obviously check if it's safe to use in pregnancy first!

8rubberduckies · 20/10/2010 20:42

[waves enthusiastically at Goodvibrations]

Softboiled eggs saved my life through my last bout of morning sickness, with Marmite soldiers... num num. I avoided most other stuff you're meant to, but I just could not give up the runny eggs! I don't think they pose a massive risk though, as moomin says stick to the supermarket ones.

8rubberduckies · 20/10/2010 20:45

X-posted with about 100 people sorry! Hi and congratulations mummynumber2

Wobblewatcher · 20/10/2010 20:47

Oh my god just read this whole thread. Only took about 2 hours!!

So many of you are good at answering people personally. How do you do that???!!!!!

Had my reflexology, it was lush. Now sitting in front of TV with a box of chocolates. Reached gold status at weight watchers last week and so feels good to be able to eat lovely stuff again, I lost 15lbs!

Mum is paying for me to have an early scan around 7 weeks-hooray and thankyou mum!!!

Boobs are less sore tonight but tummy feeling more stretched and can feel pulling in my pelvis.

There are so many of us it's great Grin

Will check in lots and lots!!!

mummynumber2 · 20/10/2010 20:51

Hello everyone and thanks! Think I'm only just beginning to believe it.

CUPPA- the unusual thing about my situation is that I only had one embryo, which would have split making them identical twins. That's a good idea, I'll give the vicks a go!

Please forgive me if I don't participate in this conversation any more this evening. Just the thought of eggs and salmon is making me gag!
