MrsWajs · 09/12/2010 20:42

Evening ladies!!

Just popping in to let you know scan went well today and babyWajs is a girl!! :):)

kurlyvoice · 09/12/2010 20:56

Congratulations on your little girl, MrsW! How very exciting... :)

And wow to your 4cm in 2 weeks, mumnerves - I didn't think about unborn babies having growth spurts, which is very naive of me! Sorry that you've had to put up with unhelpful and frankly insensitive comments - it'll all be over soon.

But for now, have a Xmas Biscuit (and a [fbear] for LO).

crazybutterflylady · 10/12/2010 10:08

mrsw very exciting!! Hope you have a big shopping spree planned now you know which stuff to be looking at!

mumnerves eek, 9lbs...hopefully LO has just grown longer and not wider! Grin xx

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 10/12/2010 16:34

Mumsnerves Wow!! Go you! FWIW DS was 8lb 4oz and was long and skinny.

MrsW Awww thats so cool, congrats on your little girl. I bet you're so excited.

Anywho for anyone who is even vaguely interested there is a smiley picture of DS on my profile if you want to have a nosey.

mumnerves · 11/12/2010 15:53

MrsWajs congratulations on little baby girl Wajs!! Glad scan went well.

Kurly thanks for the Xmas Biscuit but can't help but thinking maybe that's what got me in this position in the first place?

Hermya how cute is your ds??!! It must be lovely to know that smile is all just for you :) I do hope LO is long and skinny too!

Went for spicy Thai food today, neighbour suggested DH took me for a car ride on a dirt track to jiggle things along Hmm but we didn't thankfully!

Big wave to everyone I have't mentioned, have a nice weekend x

MrsWajs · 12/12/2010 11:03

Awww Hermya your wee man is soooo cute!!

Going to attempt to put my 20 week scan pic on my profile and might even put on a bump picture - will see how confident I'm feeling about it!!

Have ordered a ridiculous amount of clothes online for babyWajs this weekend Xmas Shockwooopsy Xmas Smile

luckyseven · 12/12/2010 11:56

hermya asher is such a cutie! I just want to meet baby lucky, curiosity is getting the better of me!

mrsw lovely clear scan picture, i was studying it intently to see ours compares and whether it might be a boy or girl! no science behind that one but worth a go, isn't it amazing the diferemce those 8 weeks make between scans!

mumsnerves i def think our baby is a big one, I have been measuring ahead on the fundal chart by as much as 6 weeks at times and was 42cm at 39 weeks. GP tells me it is because dh and i are tall (5'9 and 6'3) and that our bodies don't make babies our pelvis can't handle. I won't get scanned until this Wed morning so will just have to hope for a long slippery one like bunny and hermya!

Ridiculous birth stories from strangers continue, when I was in Boots buying a red hat for the baby the lady at the till said, don't you worry about what everyone says about labour hopefully you will be like me and be 'one push and a pop' - here's hoping!

After my antenatal the other day i was sent up to the day maternity unit as my blood pressure was up but over an hour it stabilised and they sent me home as otherwise I would have to wait 3 hours to see a doctor as they had 3 sections that afternoon. Kind of makes me worry that if I am in over Christmas how things will go as they have openly said they have fewer staff. BP up again the next day but not so much so I am being monitored every day by the GP now but only as a precaution; they still consider me to be low risk and so I can go to the home from home unit which was on the tv show and has the option of water, gas and air and pethidine but can always transfer up to labour ward if the reality means i want a different drug called remy (availability of anaethestist permitting!).

Better go we are visiting both sets of parents in one day today, one for lunch and one for dinner, you would think we had planned it that way and are picking up our Quinny and getting a lesson in how it works and finally I think we will be ready!

haloflo · 12/12/2010 16:31

mumsnerves Here's hoping your baby has just grown a little taller and he/she has noticed the recent rising of temperatures as a good time to make an appearance. Really looking forward to hearing your chosen name and I think I'll also be keeping our (currently very short) names list private from friends/family. It's a lot harder to criticise a name when its attached to a beautiful newborn baby!

mrsw Brilliant picture of your baby girl!! It's such an amazing scan at 20 weeks and such a relief when it's done. So what have you bought? I still haven't got any clothes but with it being a surprise I think I'm just going to get a few essentials packs and then when he/she is born go mad!

hermya Lovely picture, he looks really happy. It must be amazing to get that first smile. Xmas Smile

lucky Glad your BP came down, hope it stays that way and you get the options you want for the birth. Love the idea of one push and a pop, makes it sound so easy! Am v jealous that you got Christmas shopping all done in September, I've still got a bit to do! Quiz was really good thanks, am going to try and go most weeks I think before the LO comes as come Spring I doubt I'll get much chance to go.

HH How you are now? I hope you are having a good weekend in Edinburgh. I hope the spotting has stopped too. Are you 10 weeks yet? I felt that was a real milestone. Everyday is long and worrying at your stage but it does get better. A private scan sounds like a good idea if you don't get your NHS one soon.

All is well with me, good MW appointment midweek. (I cannot hear the heartbeat enough!) Getting kicks regularly now although all are very low down, sometimes feeling like they hit my bladder. Lucky Is this because of the anterior placenta? Also can you remember when you and DH felt kicks from the outside? I wanted to ask the MW about this but felt she was a bit rushed so didn't manage to ask the question.

luckyseven · 12/12/2010 22:40

halo at the start the kicks i felt were low down and then mostly in the right boobsicle - which is why i went through a phase of thinking it has to be a boy to be giving boobs that much attention! For a very long time dh felt very little, and got a bit bored with me grabbing his hand as the little one never really performed. After about 30 weeks he felt more and can see it rippling now "if i don't wear a stripey top" but unfortunately he hasn't had many opportunities to feel mega kicks but has had enough to share the experience if that makes sense. TBH apart from the scare at 30 weeks I have been grateful for an anterior placenta as (fingers crossed i don't tempt fate) the little one hasn't kept me awake.

mrsw tell us what you have bought!!!

Bellaby · 13/12/2010 06:28

Morning All

Back from our holiday so just popping in to say hello. Holiday was very relaxing and the weather in Oman was perfect - warm with clear blue skies. Only 3 weeks until we go back there again Grin which makes the thought of work today seem more bearable. Hopefully will be quiet week with early fi oshes.

mrsw- congrats on the girl. Mustbe very exciting shopping now. I can't wait to begin shopping.

Hermya love the picture Grin

Lucky am so impressed with your Christmas shopping. I have done half of mine but am struggling to think of ideas for the rest. Think Amazon will see a lot of me next couple of days.

I have my next scan on Weds when we should find out what we are having so excited about that. Had a night on holiday when I could definitely feel something. Felt a bit like bubbles. My stomach someday is looking very bump like and other days just flabby! Have outgrown all my trousers. Have asked DH for some maternity jeans for Christmas and will buy a few other bits and pieces those week.

Have a lovely week everyone

cherrycobbler · 13/12/2010 09:33

hermya your little man is SUCH a cutie!!

bella good luck with the scan! V jealous of holiday AND of going back there in a few weeks. Sounds blissful. Are you going back for New Years? Just a holiday or do you have family/ friends there? Am being completely overwhelmed at work at the moment and last night dreamt that the consultant had signed me off work but that my boss made me work from my hospital bed Xmas Hmm

mrsw congrats on the girl!

mumsnerves wow re the growth! Any twinges yet? Are you sick of people asking you that?! How are you feeling - are you getting that last minute nesting energy surge you hear about?

lucky hope your BP settles down - good that they are monitoring you.

Our 20 (19 week!) week scan is next Tues, 21st, I can't wait and am an equal mixture of excited and worried. We're hoping to find out the flavour too if we can.

Best get on - is it bad that I cannot wait till ML, which is still four months away?!

haloflo · 13/12/2010 20:28

bellaby Good luck Wednesday, can't wait to find out if your prediction was right. My stomach was like that for a while, fat in the mornings, bump in the evenings. Don't worry it will grow soon enough! Very exciting about the bubbles, hope you get them again soon. Your holiday sounds amazing! How come you are going back? Did I miss something there?

cherry Good luck for your scan next week too. Try not to worry too much although easier said that done. Sorry work is rubbish. Have you started decided on a leaving date yet? Its nice to know that there is a date even if it feels a long way off.

lucky Glad your DH does feel the baby, I will keep waiting patiently. I know i've still got ages to go but it feels like others on my AN thread reached this milestone a while ago. I will count my blessings about being able to sleep. Boob kicks don't sound like much fun but at the same time I can't wait!

oneof8 Hope you are ok - just noticed you have just over a month to your EDD! How you feeling? I'm guessing your busy at work? Hope you finish soon.

mumsnerves No posts today? Hope all is well!

I hope no one minds but I want a quick moan! I feel like over the last 2 weeks i've put so much weight on. I daren't weigh myself but I feel I really need to lay off the Christmas treats as the fat is now obvious on my face and arms. Not the biggest worry in the world but not a nice feeling all the same.

Not helping matters is the fact that my cheapo New Look maternity trousers no longer fit when sat at my desk. Any recommendations for cheap ones which might get me through to 8 months? I've not really liked over the bump before as I find they stop before the top of my bump if that makes sense but maybe they will work now? I have leggings and longish tops which are fine for home but I really need smartish black trousers for work.

MrsWajs · 13/12/2010 21:07

Cherry I am equally excited about mat leave - haven't decided quite yet when it'll begin either 3rd or 10th April but am a bit dubious about making it the 10th as that was my original date but then again also don't want to be wasting time at home for a potential 5 weeks if bab is late!!

Oooh bellaby my brother is in Oman just now but unfortunately working and not on holiday! He is away until February which is a bummer for christmas etc but I guess it goes with the job!

Halo I have been feeling movements for a good few weeks but I guess that's because I have a posterior placenta, was having ones quite high up last week and DP felt one of the stronger ones :) but this week they have completely moved and are now really low down - definitely feels like she is jumping up and down on my bladder, making me feel like I need a wee every 5 minutes when I don't! Isn't it funny that they can totally change position!
The movements are definitely getting a lot stronger now and DP is happy to have felt a couple already. I thought it was quite early given that I'm only 21 weeks - did anyone else feel kicks so strongly this early on?? It makes me wonder if my dates are wrong after all and maybe I'm a bit further on than I thought?! I know it's not likely but I can hope!! My bump seems to be expanding at an amazing rate of knots too!! Xmas Smile

Ok so the $64,000 question! What did I buy? Hehehe, well basically everything that wasn't too sickeningly pink from Next!! Am not mad keen on pastel pink so have struggled a little bit to find things I want to buy for baby! Also not keen to go too mad just now as most things in the shops are winter clothes and baby will be born in spring so am not buying anything else just now, will try and link some of the things I have ordered -

www.next.co.uk/shopping/girls/newborn/37/7
www.next.co.uk/shopping/girls/newborn/35/4
www.next.co.uk/shopping/girls/newborn/35/6
www.next.co.uk/shopping/girls/newborn/33/2
www.next.co.uk/shopping/girls/newborn/32/3
www.next.co.uk/shopping/girls/newborn/28/2

Ok so I linked everything!! Other stuff I've bought are nappies, vests, socks, mitts, hats and other plain basic stuff. Have actually gone a bit crazy but doing it all gradually so it isn't costing a fortune! Crib and buggy/pram are also ordered (courtesy of my parents and DP's dad respectively) so I really can't wait for all that to come, then we are decorating and ordering the nursery furniture after Christmas! Writing it all down makes it so much more exciting! I'm going to stop talking now cus I'm getting carried away!!

haloflo · 13/12/2010 21:32

mrsw Thats really good that the kicks are strong. Smile I love your excitment so carry on, I've not got anything practical or fun yet but your excitement makes me want to start actually buying as oppposed to just looking.

I love all of what you have linked but especially the hearts sleepsuits 2 pack. In fact the whole next website is really nice and is making me wish I knew if my LO is a boy or girl as most of it is very gender specific. I must be patient!

MrsWajs · 13/12/2010 22:29

I actually bought that same pack of sleepsuits for a friends daughter for christmas before I knew I was having a girl too!

aly323 · 14/12/2010 03:08

Hello everyone! Hope you're all feeling happy and well! I keep checking in hoping to see a birth announcement from Mumnerves or Lucky! I love the excitement! I also would be very happy to see some new BFP's we're overdue...

Hermya, I adore your smiley baby boy. He's so beautiful. That pic just makes me ache to meet my little guy.

Mrs.W, congrats on joining club pink! I'm seriously jealous of all the beautiful girl clothes. I wouldn't be able to control myself if I were having a girl! Can't wait to hear the news for "Bellaby and Cherry*. Time is really going by fast!

I am still very tired, but feel good overall. I had my shower yesterday and actually had a blast! I had requested more of an informal, couple-friendly cook-out, so I wasn't really expecting games or anything "showery." One of my friends got super-adventurous and decided to include both games and crafts. This is really not DH's style, so I was very afraid of his reaction. He was such a good sport! The games ended up being loads of fun and even the most "non-gamey" people played and had fun. It helped that there were prizes and some pretty competitive people. Everyone also made us tree ornaments with messages for the baby.

As you can imagine, I now have mountains of baby stuff (likely way too much!). In addition to yesterday's gifts, a couple of friends have passed down many items. I only need to buy the things no one wants to buy as a gift- nipple pads, wipes, etc.

After the shower, I thought I was going into labor. I had the WORST lower back pain I've ever had, my stomach hurt, and I couldn't even stand up. Turns out it was gas Blush. I think I probably kept the neighbors awake with the noise I was making. Even DH, who is very private and easily grossed out, had to laugh about the noises I made last night. We're back to considering naming this kid Thor. Isn't pregnancy great!?! BTW, If baby boy doesn't make an earlier appearance on his own, Dr. Says we'll schedule an induction between Jan 23rd and 30th. It's getting so close!

I just heard DH's car, so I'm going to run. He stopped to get me some eggs on the way home. I usually hate eggs, but they sound so yummy right now.

Bellaby · 14/12/2010 06:09

MrsW those clothes are so cute! I can't wait to start buying things

Cherry & Halo we are going back to Oman for another holiday. Chose there because its not a million miles away and guaranteed good weather. We'll fly to Abu Dhabinon 31st for a couple of days and then onto Oman.

Cherry I am same as you about ML. They keep talking about plans for next year and all I can think about is that I'll only be there for 4 months. Have very little motivation at work at the moment. Luckily this week is mostly about breakfast/lunch/dinners with clients so lucky I have an excuse to eat what I like!

Aly your shower sounds like it was really good fun. I love the idea of that but it never seems to have caught on over here. Great that you have been given loads of baby stuff.

Have a lovely day everyone Xmas Grin

Xxx

crazybutterflylady · 14/12/2010 14:27

Hi everyone!
Glad to hear everyone is well.

mrsw how gorgeous is all the stuff you bought!? I am so jealous. Feeling very impatient now, and I only have to wait til Thursday. I've said if LO has his/her legs crossed I will not be moving from the bed until s/he uncrosses them! Hehe! Have you thought of names yet?

aly sorry to hear about your, ahem, windy problem - hopefully it was a one off and the eggs didn't exacerbate it! blush Your shower sounds really lovely. A friend of mine has offered to organise one for me but I'm not sure if it's a good idea... I feel a bit weird about it - what do you girls think? It's not so common over here as in the States is it?

halo don't stress about the weight, it's all part of the process I'm sure and nobody will think badly of you. I am hoping that the rumours are true and I will be superskinny as a result of breastfeeding Xmas Grin

mumnerves · 14/12/2010 16:58

Hi everyone!

luckyseven my MF did say that head size is virtually the same on most babies so hopefully she is right!

Bellaby Oman sounds fab! Can't wait till we get to have a holiday with our LO

haloflo Have you tried a bump band? Might keep your other trousers going for a bit longer yet.

aly when I read you had a shower, I was wondering what was up with your shower (water, bath type shower) but glad to hear you got lots of lovely things! People are so generous when you're having a baby aren't they?

Mrsw some lovely things you're bought!

Sorry for the abrupt posts but just got a show! :o Glad something's finally happening and got quite a bit of back ache too!
Will let you all know as soon as LO is here and I can x

luckyseven · 14/12/2010 17:26

mumsnerves good luck, hope tne show and backache sets you off and you don't need to be induced! I am soooooooooo jealous. Have appointment tomorrow am and they will have a good hoak at me give me a sweep so hopefully won't be too far behind you! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkksss

highheelsandequations · 14/12/2010 18:07

mumsnerves good luck! Xmas Grin

halo I am now 10+1 and did feel like 10 weeks was a milestone, if I hadn't had the spotting I would have relaxed now!

MrsW congrats on baby girl and loving the shopping Xmas Smile

aly your shower sounds lovely.

Well our weekend was lovely, although it was the first time when not drinking has really bothered me. Would have loved a glass of champagne in our room or some nice wine with the gorgeous meals we had. Travelling home was not fun, think I'm getting a cold/throat infection and that on top of my current exhasution left me stood waiting for the bus to the park and ride feeling like I was about to throw up or pass out. Was still feeling wiped out yesterday so took the day off work and stayed on the couch, and only felt slightly guilty. Dragged myself back in today though to catch up on prelim marking that was delayed with the snow and needs finished by Friday.

Finally cracked and bought a non-wired bra at the weekend as it was agonising taking my bra off at the end of the day. Have gone from 32D to 34E so hoping I'm not going to grow too much more! It's so much more comfortable (although that means I now worry that my boobs aren't sore enough!) but not feeling very sexy in it. Also could not find a non-wired bra that does not come up higher than most of my tops, any suggestions?

Still no appointment from midwife but post here is all messed up. Booked a private scan for Thursday just in case my NHS one doesn't come through till after Christmas. Terrified and excited all at once now and hoping everything is okay on Thursday. Sorry for me me, very very tired and it means I waffle on a lot. Thinking about going to bed already, do you think DP would bring me my tea in bed?

cherrycobbler · 14/12/2010 19:09

GOOD LUCK mumsnerves!!! Hope when we hear from you next you have a snuggly baby in your arms and you are raving about your wonderfully dreamy labour!

hh I bought some bravado bras and they are ok with my tops- think it was on crazy's recommendation. Def entitled to tea in bed, I would have been in bed at 7pm every night during my first trimester if possible! Re alcohol, I didn't miss it at all in first trimester as was so sick but have fancied the odd tipple since. M/w told me that I shd feel free to have the odd glass of champagne/ small (i/e half glass if using today's glasses) glass of red wine every now and then in second/third trimester so will be having a cheeky glass of wine with my Christmas dinner!

mrsw I LOVE all the stuff you linked to!

aly your shower sounds awesome - and your windiness made me laugh! I also had to re-read shower, before I twigged. Not really heard of them in the UK. My SIL is from the US but don't think she'll throw me one, alas. I think they're a lovely idea (and not just because I am pg!).

halo how annoying re the weight, but I echo crazy, pls don't stress about it. I bet you look just lovely with your gorgeous bump and overall glowiness. Your shape overall is bound to change, and all for a great reason. I do know how you feel though -I am still eating all the crap that got me through the first trimester, plus proper meals again, plus not puking it all up as much which means I am expanding at a rate of knots. Eek.

highheelsandequations · 14/12/2010 19:59

aargh! DP has just told me he has a meeting on Thursday afternoon so won't be able to come to scan with me. Doubly terrified now.

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 14/12/2010 21:58

Mumsnerves PPPPPPPPPPPUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope things are progressing and I look forward to hearing any news.

HH Is there anyone else that can go with you? Wheres your scan booked?

Aly So so jealous, I didn't get one. Everyone I know got a baby shower, I did ask for one but it just didn't happen. I think I'll be demanding one for next time.

Lucky Oooooo could be you next (hopefully).

Crazy Ooooo you're off to the land of Bluewater, we'll be down that way over Christmas with the outlaws.

Halo Your body changes so much when you're pregnant, in the end I stopped going on the scales as they just made me stress too much. Don't forget you have a baby, a placenta, extra blood, water, breast tissue and lord knows what else on top of what you normally weigh.

I went for my six week check today, all is well and DS was his typical flirty self. He got woken up by me in the Doctors office frowned at me and then turned to the Doctor, cooed at her and then smiled at her. She ooo over him for the rest of the appointment.

He even did the same for my work colleges last night as well at the Christmas do. Flirted and smiled at every single one of them. He even had an offer of being taken home by one of them. I'm going to have to watch him.

bunnygirl80 · 15/12/2010 00:26

Good luck mumnerves Hope you have a speedy labour
