luckyseven · 06/12/2010 08:51

mumsnerves stay put no going outside. I fell in the snow on friday just metres from my front door. All ok but i am much less adventurous now! Hope you dont go too far past your due date. When do you next go to hospital for check up?

crazybutterflylady · 06/12/2010 10:22

lucky that's scary, i hope you're ok and it wasn't too bad a fall!

mumnerves I agree, stay put until you need to! Hopefully LO will arrive soon, so exciting!

I got the Stokke Xplory, I had really wanted it but we worried it was too expensive... but then reasoned it will last for any others we have so we went for it. I LOVE it. I feel a bit weird now though, like I might have tempted fate buying it so early... eep.

I got offered a seat on the train this morning because my bump was right at a man's head. I must be getting a goodun! :)

xx

mumnerves · 06/12/2010 14:24

luckyseven OMG! Can't believe you fell, must have been quite scary for you, hope you too stay at home as you've not got long to go now too!

Crazy I love the stokke, but was also put off by the price. Good for you that you got it reduced, it's had so many good reviews!

Got my next appointment with mw on thurs which will be the day after my due date and if LO shows no sign of turning up, I've got an appointment at the hosp next thurs probably to be induced...I hope it doesn't last till then, at this rate, lucky you'll be meeting your LO before me!! Xmas Grin

superpenguin · 06/12/2010 14:50

Hello everyone!
Sorry not caught up in ages, but just realised I have only 3 months left to go!!! Shock where has the last 6 months gone?

luckyseven · 06/12/2010 17:10

aly323 great to hear from you, totally agree on how some clothes are unflattering in the early days of bumps appearance and then look much better later on. Sounds like you have nearly got the nursery finished. You will be glad to get work finished, I am feeling a lot more relaxed now so hope this last bit goes smoothly.

mrs waj enjoy your time off and all the best for Thursday, looking forward to finding out what you are having. How will you resist clothing the child until it is 2 before it is even born? Just realised you can totally take advantage of the Next sale in January as you will have the insider knowledge on what you can buy ? all I have is white! I predict a girl btw.

mumsnerves how awful is daytime tv, I am not a big tv person and have realised i might need to get a few boxsets for during the day once I have mastered looking after a newborn. Recently discovered Modern Family on Sky ? would def recommend if it is not already in your life.

crazy glad you got your pram sorted, the Stokke are super stylish! Our Quinny is still on holiday at my parents house, I really should go and get it and learn how it works. It is going to have to live in the boot of my car as we just don?t have the room for it inside. Was the clearance sale madness or did you and dh have a plan like in the wedding dress sale in Friends when they brought whistles?

hermya it is so cold to have a newborn, i have great plans in January for buggy marching round our local parks to try and get some exercise and back in shape but if it continues like this it will be central heating and sofa all the way. Have asked DH to get me a Zumba dvd for Christmas so I can exercise if i am housebound!Have also promised not to huff with him for buying the requested Zumba dvd if i am still pg on Christmas day and feeling fat and sorry for myself!

highheels you def get the prize for most amusing use of donuts in a while! How did it go with your friend?

mumsnerves sounds promising with the low down bubba and Braxton hicks. If you don?t mind me asking what does a Braxton hicks feel like? I don?t think I have had any, just a lot of squirming and i think my belly button is close to popping so maybe baby is descending, have measured 3/5 for the last 4 weeks and next antenatal is this Thursday. I am preparing myself for the long haul with this baby and trying not to get my heart set on it being here by Christmas even though I really really want it to be here in time for Santa! I even have All I want for Christmas as my phone ring tone to send it subliminal messages and dh and i thought the 10th (a week early)would be a great day for it to come so that we have 2 weeks of practice and maybe could get out the door on Christmas Day!

superpenguin three months to go already, i found that from 30 weeks time has flown so if the first bit went quickly for you i would fasten your seatbelt for an even faster ride to the finish!

halo i had a quick look on the maxi cosi site about your car but it doesn?t have that year listed but maybe you could check with the Vauxhall dealership?

Falling on Friday was a bit of a shock but I took the brunt of it on my right arm and shoulder and don?t remember falling just landing on powdery snow. The little one was moving around after a cold orange fanta and some spicy food so didn?t go to the hospital. When I fell i thought I had dropped something but couldn?t see anything on the pavement or road so just carried on. Turns out I dropped my car keys and only found out on Saturday night when my neighbour?s son came to the door as they had found them, tried the central locking and my car had opened up. Basically i left several thousand pounds gift wrapped for anyone to help themselves. Lucky lucky escape!

No Laura Marling for me tonight as she has postponed her Irish dates due to ill health and hopes to reschedule in the new year when I won?t need to arrange a seat with the organisers! Peter Kay was absolutely brilliant the other night and thankfully didn?t send me into labour although i did whack a man in the back of the head with my bump when trying to get back along the row of seats after the interval because the kn*bhead sitting beside me had two pints on the ground and made me step over them ? how hard is moving forward whilst balancing on one leg in a confined space at 38 weeks!

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary and the last of the excitement before the baby comes, we are going out for a nice meal although i am eating like a bird as there is just no room! If the weather had been like this 3 years ago i reckon half of our guests wouldn?t have made it!

cherrycobbler · 06/12/2010 18:02

Happy wedding anniversary for tomorrow lucky! Glad your fall wasn't too bad - sounds scary. Can't believe how close you are now!

Hooray for buggy crazy I just googled it and it looks lush! Even better to get it at a discount too.

mumsnerves maybe LO is waiting patiently for the snow to clear a bit more so hospital departure is not too dramatic? Take LOTS of care on the snow and ice. I have heard good things about Modern Family, we're currently watching 30 Rock which is v silly but I love it.

What do round ligament pains feel like? Starting to have really odd pains in the bump - nothing really painful, no blood, and don't feel like period cramps so am not too worried, but just a bit intrigued. It sort of feels like I've pulled some tummy muscles doing too many sit ups (ha ha - like I ever knew what that felt).

luckyseven · 06/12/2010 18:05

cherry i missed you in my last post, was out baby browsing (not shopping) the other day and saw the cutest baby bandana style bib with cherries all over it and thought of you!

crazybutterflylady · 06/12/2010 19:34

lucky hehe the plan was 'quick get in the shower we have to be there for 10am when it opens!!!'... we got there and it was empty Xmas Blush luckily Mr Crazy is a patient man. But it did mean we got the pick of the deals before others started arriving. There were cheaper ones but they were older models and/or daft colours so I was really happy with the one we got (2010 in a respectable navy!).

cherry where are you from originally?? Lush is a very northern word. Or welsh... Just asking because I'm a geordie and it made me wonder... Xmas Grin

penguin wow, 3 months to go! How exciting!! I can't wait till I am nearer the end than the start. I'm reaching the point now where I'm wondering if I am actually pregnant... sickness gone but no movement yet...two weeks till the next scan... wish it would bloody hurry up!! Are you feeling the same cherry??

xx

cherrycobbler · 07/12/2010 13:54

aw cherry bandana bib lucky that sounds sooo cute!!

crazy I am London born and bred I'm afraid. Think I got "lush" from a friend who says it all the time! She's not from the North but is obsessed by Gavin and Stacey...

I am def feeling the same impatience about thinking May (and ML....) is sooooo long away, but am so happy to be over the worst of the nausea/ being sick/ utter exhaustion that am pretty glad to be in this stage and not quite ready for the trials and tribulations of the third trimester. Having said that I was sick last night again - blugh. Am looking fwd to feeling movement though Xmas Smile. Have you booked your NCT classes? I've just booked mine but they only start when I will be 34 weeks so now panicking it will all be too late (can't do the earlier one for various boring reasons).

crazybutterflylady · 07/12/2010 14:17

cherry have PMd you xx

haloflo · 07/12/2010 19:44

highheels Am so pleased for you! I hope the spotting stops soon. Hopefully not long for you to wait for your booking in appointment now.

mumsnerves The snow melted round here over the weekend although a sprinkling came back last night it seems a little milder. I hope it's the same for you, thinking of you everytime I look at the window! If you aren't otherwise occupied I hope daytime TV isn't boring you too much. By the way are you all set with names? We keep talk names about once a week and get nowhere - I'm worried my poor LO will be born nameless and then the pressure will really be on.

lucky Your fall sounds really scary, hoping for milder weather round your way too. Enjoy your wedding anniversary and your meal out. Glad Peter Kay was good, you and DH are certainly making the most of your last few days as a couple! Thanks for looking into the car, good idea to contact the dealer.

crazy Well done on the bump big enough to get a seat! I struggled during the second trimester before the 20 week scan as things dragged so slowly. It's a funny time and obviously much better than the first trimester with the worries, nausea etc but still not the best bit of pregnancy (I think the last couple of weeks have been my favourite so far) After the scan things seem to have sped up for me but that could just be because Christmas is loming! Xmas Smile. Still feels like March is a long, long time away though, maybe once we get into 2011 everything will seem closer. Very exciting about the Stokke Xplory! I love hearing what prams others have as I am still not 100% decided. You been sneaking a peak at any other stuff? I'm not actually sure where to start so have decided to leave everything else until the new year.

cherry I get all kinds of stretching pains, never sure what they are but they seem to pass quickly and not too painfully. Hope you aren't too sore today.

mrsw All the best for Thursday, I hope you do get to find out. Don't forget I wanted to but LO wasn't in the right position so things are never guaranteed!

I went Christmas shopping today (have today and tomorrow off work) and I am exhausted! Is this normal or am I just turning soft with my lack of exercise?! Hardly got anything either so probably back on it tomorrow. Anyway off to the local pub quiz tonight, making the most of my lie in tomorrow. Xmas Grin

MrsWajs · 07/12/2010 20:07

Haloflo I went shopping on Monday and I was absolutley shattered by the time I got home, sore back and feet, the lot!! So sure it's definitely not just you!

I know about the scan too, really hoping we can find out but knowing my luck we won't be able to, if that's the case I think we might fork out for a private scan as I really don't think I can not know for another 20 weeks!! Is that sad?

Hello to everyone else too, just passing through as laptop on blink again!!!x

kurlyvoice · 07/12/2010 20:57

Evening all,

Finally getting over my cold - it is ridiculous how long these things can last, particularly when you can't dose up so feel even more rubbish than usual. It looked like I gave it to the rest of my department, who ended up being off for three days apiece, which gave me rather a lot of cover work to organise... But if I'd taken the time off, it would have looked bad having had to take 5 days off in total for morning sickness...

Anyway! crazy and cherry, you are both so nearly at the "halfway" stage and as soon as you start convincing yourself that you feel movements, you'll worry if you can't remember feeling any that day - just the next step of glory!

Happy Anniversary, lucky - hope you have a lovely meal even if you only manage a few bites. I'm going to be 38 weeks on our anniversary, though it's only 2 years for us... :)

How are you doing mumnerves? Due date tomorrow, so hope you've got lots of boxsets/dvds/chocolate to distract you! Hope that your appointment on Thursday is positive and that LO looks like it means business soon.

highheels, did you tell your friend or not? I didn't have time to add my little say but I told my best friend as I'd been feeling so sick and couldn't keep up with our usual communication, and she was such a support (and a relief for DH for me to have someone else to talk to). Hope all is still well with you and the bean.

I'm loving the image of wintry snuggles, Hermya, and hope that you are loving mummyhood as much as it sounds like from your post!

Right, back to the grindstone (and apologies if I've missed anyone off) - Christmas is far too busy for music teachers!

mumnerves · 07/12/2010 21:20

superpenguin your last trimester will fly by, I found it the quickest!

lucky I can't stand daytime TV but still find myself mesmerised to programmes like friends even though I've watched it over and over again! Don't have sky as DH tends to watch foreign channels we have an external satellite and until now I hardly watched tv.
At first with the BH I thought it was LO turning back to my front, but it feels like a wave and then my tummy goes very hard. It's usually hard anyway but when I get BH the entire tummy is hard not just where LO is. I don't feel it most of the time, on sunday I started getting period like cramps and thought it was the start of something but it went and am back to waiting now!
Did DH take you out for your anniversary? Sounds like you enjoyed Peter Kay, I hope you did your pelvic exercises before going Xmas Wink

cherry not sure about the pains maybe ask your mw??
Enjoy your second trimester but fwiw I felt my third was the most enjoyable, mainly because knowing that I'd feel the best throughout my second I was rushing off my feet trying to get everything done. I agree that LO knows where it's warm and wants to stay put. I just hope he/she makes an appearance before I get induced.
When I tried to book my NCT class, it finished on week 38 and I didn't want to miss any classes esp when it's so expensive and wanted to be able to think through what we'd learnt so we opted for just the hospital antenatal classes which fortunately were very good. Sorry to hear you were sick again Xmas Sad

haloflo there's about 2 inches of snow still outside but most of it has now turned into ice Xmas Sad DH has given me strict instructions not to go far for fear of slipping so I'm stuck till thursday when I have to go to MW. We have our names sorted. We haven't told anyone, not even grandparents as we didn't want to be put off our names and sounds cruel but didn't want any input on them either. You know what it's like if you don't take family's suggestions seriously, they don't let you forget it! So we're saving the names for when LO turns up. Also we're afraid if LO doesn't look like the name we will feel pressured to not be able to change it. Feeling shattered is normal, over the last 4 months I've done more shopping online than ever before as just the thought of going to the shops has me feeling tired! Saying that I've managed to walk the dog for an hour most days and still go for my yoga class so it must just be shops that are doing that to me! Xmas Grin Enjoy your lie in tomorrow x

Still no sign of LO, have bought 2 lottery tickets for tomorrow as it's my due date and if LO doesn't make an appearance at least there's a tiny chance we'll be millionaires!

Also saw a pineapple reduced in the grocery section of Morrisons yesterday and thought that must be a sign and bought it, had some today....bleugh!... I know why I don't usually buy pineapple!!

mumnerves · 07/12/2010 21:22

kurly sorry cross posted, glad you're over your cold now, make sure you eat plenty of citrus fruits so you don't get another x

superpenguin · 08/12/2010 11:40

hello all, glad things are seeming better for highheels and I've been reading all your updates.
I hope no-one else is going to fall over in the snow and ice - glad to say it has mostly gone now where I am.

The thought of the next 3 months flying by very quickly are worrying me slightly. The last 6 months now seem to have gone very fast (although at the time the first 3 months seemed very slow!) and it will be Christmas in a few weeks and before we know it it will be March and I'll have a baby! Shock

I have started looking at prams and pushchairs on ebay as having seen how much they cost we are now thinking will probably buy 2nd-hand. In fact I feel I have to admit I already got one earlier this week for £5! (off ebay) - it needs a good clean though and is more of a pushchair than a pram - although it goes adjust to lie flat it only faces forwards so I'm not happy with it and will definitely buy another pram, but for £5 I couldn't resist - will either sell it again or keep as a spare... Blush
I expect I will end up buying several bargain prams off ebay before settling on one I like, then sell back all the others again! (this tends to be my technique - I did the same when buying my wedding dress, also 2nd-hand off ebay, bought several then sold all the others once decided!)

Still not remotely started turning the spare room into a "nursery". Intending to do this between Christmas and new year when I have some time off work.

Oooh my other bargain of the week was a baby monitor that someone gave us for FREEEEE! (off freecycle) Grin

good luck to mumnerves with your impending arrival!

luckyseven · 08/12/2010 17:17

super have you had a look on your local gumtree? I used the site recently to swap peter kay tickets and there are loads of local baby bargains on there.

highheelsandequations · 08/12/2010 18:21

crazyb glad to hear you got your buggy, sure it made the early start worthwhile Xmas Smile

mumnerves no not Edinburgh but close, we're in Fife. Never seen weather this bad! It's very pretty but still a nightmare travelling anywhere. Hope your lottery tickets are lucky for you Xmas Smile

luckyseven glad you're okay after your fall although it must have been very scary. Also glad to hear that disaster was averted with the dropped keys. Hope you enjoyed your wedding anniversary.

cherry May will be here before you know it Xmas Smile

haloflo hope the Christmas shopping trip is successful and enjoy the pub quiz. I've been trying to get as much as I can online, but the weather slowing down deliveries is starting to mess up that plan now!

kurly glad to hear you're recovering from your cold and thanks for the good wishes.

superpenguin I'm glad to hear that time will speed up at some point in the not too distant future, it's still travelling at a snails pace for me! Good luck creating the nursery.

Hi to anyone else I've missed.

Well I'm still spotting so still worried although trying to stay positive. Phoned the EPU this afternoon to try and get some reassurance as I've been waking up every couple of hours through the night terrified that something's happened. Midwife told me that the spotting could go on for weeks as the blood from the little patch they saw on the scan has to go somewhere and the easiest way for it to go is down and out. She said that as long as it doesn't get a lot worse and as long as my pregnancy symptoms don't vanish there's every chance things will be fine. So back to the obsessive boob jiggling for me! Talking of boobs, in the early weeks did people find the soreness moved about a bit? I keep panicking that they don't feel as sore, then finding that they hurt when I prod different areas, is this normal???

Also phoned to chase up my booking appointment today, apparently I am in their 'to do' pile and will hopefully have a date by then end of next week! Can't believe its taking so long and now beginning to worry that I won't be seen until after Christmas. Have told DP that if I'm not getting an NHS scan before Christmas I'm booking one privately as I can't wait longer than that.

For those of you asking whether I told my frined, I had planned on doing but in the end didn't. I was drinking juice out of a wine glass and had planned on spilling the beans when she noticed but either she didn't notice or she didn't say anything, and then wasn't sure how to bring it up (as she didn't know we've been trying or anything) so chickened out.

Well been back to school this week, even in Monday's blizzard (although most of the kids were missing or had to leave by 11am on Monday as the buses stopped running!). It's freezing (-10 when I arrived at work this morning) and all the snow is still froze everywhere. Main roads aren't bad but I'm not risking my usual route so it's taking twice as long to drive in. It all looks very pretty but kind of wishing it would get back to normal now, unless we get more snow days of course Xmas Grin We're supposed to be heading to Edinburgh for the weekend for a belated birthday treat for DP, hoping we're going to manage to get there okay!

Halfway through the week already, happy Wednesdays to all!

mumnerves · 08/12/2010 18:56

super There may be some local nearly new sales in your area where you can actually see the buggy first. Also theres netmums (sorry I know that's a dirty word on MN) nearly new section in your area that you could try. HTH x

mumnerves · 08/12/2010 18:59

HH poor you, I don't know what to say as in your situation I'd be exactly the same. My boob pain radiated so yes I suppose it moved. Please be careful in the snow and ice especially when you're walking, hope you've got some good snow boots! Take care and have a good time in Edinburgh x

luckyseven · 08/12/2010 19:32

hh if it makes you feel any more reassured I have a friend who bleeds in early pregnancy from a diffeent area of her uterus and it is because her uterus is heart shaped and just one of those things. I am sure you will still worry but she has a lovely 2 1/2 year old who is the end result of all the stress from week 7 of her pregnancy.

Please please please be careful in the snow if you venture out of 'the kingdon!', wear sensible shoes as i was saying to dh i think it would be worse to fall in the early days than when i did. I am wearing trainers outside as they are the only shoes I can still get on my hobbit feet with grips! I hate trainers and jeans conbo but needs must!

mumnerves we are convinced I will end up being induced, accroding to dh i look too good and am in too good a mood for someone who is due next week! Saying that a random woman came up to me in the petrol station and said ' I feel for you, i really do!" What does she know, why would she say that!!!" have you been subjected to any nonsense from strangers? even the guy at the till in lakeland told me I am having a boy!

thanks all for the anniversary wishes, we had a fab meal out and i even had a cheeky glass of prosecco to celebrate - naughty but delicious!

kurly hope you get over the cold soon, grab yourself some marks and spencers mini oranges and some innocent smoothies to get your vitamin fix!

mrsw good luck tomorrow i hope the little one cooperates!

crazy the navy sounds lovely and all your talk of prams/ travel systems has made me organise to go and collect ours from mum and das this weekend and learn how to use it!

halo hope you got to lie in today and pub quiz was fun, shopping is a nightmare at this time of year so good efort even going. I started in September and am finished and wrapped, i would write our Christmas cards but i want to hang on in case we can add the baby's name - saying that I bought 2nd class stamps so the last day i can write them is my due date!

waves to new mums

luckyseven · 08/12/2010 19:33

eugh - must preview and spell check - forgive me!

bunnygirl80 · 09/12/2010 04:18

Just checking in to see if mumnerves or lucky had popped yet. Hope you're not waiting too much longer to meet your LOs Xmas Grin

HH hope you get your booking in appointment soon. Just try and remember that the odds are overwhelmingly in your favour now you've seen a heartbeat on a scan.

Wiliiam's still behaving really well for me - he only wakes once in the night to be fed and I actually quite enjoy the night feeds as it's the only time I get to cuddle him all by myself without other people wanting to have a go. I reckon I'm getting better sleep now than in the later stages of pg Xmas Grin

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 09/12/2010 14:37

Ooooo coming to check in on mumsnerves and lucky How are you both feeling?

Lucky I had a rather neat bump and for quite a while whenever I told people my due date and that I was pregnant, people would come back with 'oh thank goodness for that, I was going to ask but didn't want to offend you'. Also you saw Peter Kay?? I'm so Envy.

HH How far along are you now me dear?

Super Everything I've got for DS bare a few reusables has been second hand. It really is the way to go IMO.

Well DS is six and a half weeks now and is doing very well. We're getting smiles galore and I think we may be getting the start of a giggle as well.

We've also been doing our Christmas shopping as well, I've bought a handprints frame for DS to do as a pressie for his Great Nan. It made me wish I'd done it when he was born to be honest with you. Oh well you live and learn.

mumnerves · 09/12/2010 19:48

luckyseven I'm so sick of silly comments. A girl from work was telling me about someone local who lost their baby at 42 weeks. WHY? WHY? WHY? would you even tell someone something like this when they are about to give birth themselves??! I didn't take it too much to heart but it's just inconsiderate and then there are the ones who insist on telling you all the gory details of their horrible horrible birth and say things like you'll need all the drugs you can get as you'll be in terrible pain blah blah blah! I know I'll be in pain BUT I don't need you to tell me all of this!! I've been having the boy/girl debate all along so I've just turned round and said well, it'll be one or the other won't it? I did feel really good last week too. Maybe that's not a bad thing that you feel good at this stage, just probably enjoying your ML as you should be and I'm sure LO will pop out when ready :)

Bunny and Hermya so sweet of you both to come in and check on us :o Can't wait to join the happy and content mum club as you both sound so incredibly content!

Hermya My colleagues gave me a handprint thing when I left and I am meaning to do it as soon we get home :) So cute that DS is smiling up at you!

Went to see the mf today and my fundal height has increased by 4 cms in 2 weeks Xmas Shock Baby predicted weight has gone from 7-8lbs to 9lbs!!! I was certainly crossing my legs on my way out...ouch!! Apparently LO has been snuggling and having a growth spurt. I blame DH for making me sit down and resting the last 2 weeks! She did also say that a lot of women are late probably some instinct due to the snow.

Have a good rest of the week ladies x
