lucky Wow thank you sharing. You sound like you coped really well. I hope you are healing well. I've taken note of all your hints and tips. You and all the other grads are really good at passing things on and I need to trawl back through the threads to make sure I have them all. (A job for ML I think!)

mumsnerves Sean is gorgeous! What a head of hair! Grin I've decided that I'm painting nothing. The free cot doesn't fit the NHS guidelines for distance between bars so I will have to get something new. What a shame!

slowshow I hope things are ok with you. Just to let you know my symptoms didn't really kick in until 5 weeks but even then they were not the same every day. They were always less on days off, less on days I wasn't tired, less when I thought about them too much. I also had brown spotting which turned out ok. I went to my GP and got referred for an early scan. Might be worth seeing if they will do that for you. (After 7 weeks is usually best as a heartbeat should be seen at that point)

Try not to worry although it's easier said than done. I second highheels with the small targets strategy as it worked for me.

cherry I'm no good with thread titles but new year, new babies and new frolicker BFP's sounds good. So sorry about the carpal turnel, I hope others advice helps. I thought I might be getting it but I just seem prone to pins and needles. I hope it clears up and you get a few more weeks of feeling good.

aly That's great news about your scan and your pain. Make sure DH keeps up that massage!

bellaby Your holiday sounds bliss! Hope it wasn't too much of a shock arriving back in the cold.

mrsw Giving birth in the next thread!??! Surely I still have months and months to go?! I too have been playing with my pram. I can't wait to get LO one in it for a road test!

HH Yey for pip's heartbeat. Tis a lovely noise. All the best for your scan Tuesday although i'm sure everything will be ok. Will you be spilling the beans at work then?

hermya DS sounds adorable, I love the updates from the other side of the bump! You always sound like you are coping really well (even if you aren't always it gives me hope that I will cope too)

oneof8 Hope things went well and you are currently snuggling your LO.

kurly Things ok with you? That anterior placenta still getting in the way? Mine is a little but I now get plenty of thuds.

And to join in the ML chat - I have 7 weeks to go until I finish on 25 Feb. Although I'm excited to finish, it scares me too. Life will never be the same again.

I have collected my pram from the shop and love it. Its light, easy to use and hopefully perfect. Smile I also have a maxi cosi car seat from my mum's partner's daughter but still haven't found out if its suitable for my car so am going to go to a shop and fake interest in one whilst they advice me.

After looking for ages online at cots. I have decided I want to touch things in person so am off to mothercare, mamas and papas and babies r us next weekend to look at cots, mattresses and bedding in real life. Even if I come home and buy online I get to feel things first.

bunnygirl80 · 09/01/2011 20:40

lucky great birth story and excellent tips. Hope you're healing well.

I must be some sort of freak as I seem to be the only Frolicker to have thought the TENS machine was just annoying and gas and air made me feel like I was suffocating. At least it means I can say I did it without any pain relief Grin

HH yay for finding pip's heartbeat

aly am awaiting news of your LO's arrival. Hope you enjoy the last few days of pg Smile

halo I went and looked at everything in baby shops and then bought it cheaper online. Smile

Love hearing about all your purchases for your LOs. We finally bought William a cot at the weekend Grin He looks soooo tiny in it Sad but he's nearly outgrown his basket.

We've finally managed to find a proper family home to move to as well, so in 3 weeks I'll have a nursery to decorate Grin

MrsWajs · 10/01/2011 10:26

hermya glad you approve of the plan!! Cake and crap telly sound fab - I'm practising this week while I'm off on holiday!

Haloflo DP and I did the same in mothercare (re: carseat) told them we'd already ordered one but just wanted to have a look at it, they automatically ask about your car etc and whether it'll fit, we have a vauxhall astra and it will fit in ours if that's any help.

Had a little bit of a fright yesterday got up in the morning and saw fresh blood on the paper after I'd been to the loo!! Cue massive freak out . . . . but then realised (TMI coming up) it was probably due to a bedroom related incident the night before!! Not sure quite how to explain it in a decent manner lol - lets say DP "slipped" a little bit and bashed me in the wrong bit!! OUCH! So kept an eye on it all day before phoning MW but there wasn't any more bleeding and a further examination in a mirror confirmed my suspicions!!! Think that'll be sex out for the next 3 months!!! Have 25 week apt today so will mention it to the MW anyway - how embarrassing!

This week also marks the start of the 3am pee's and the not sleeping, hips have been agony - like a burning sensation almost which keeps waking me up :( DP also says I'm turning into a nightmare in bed - constantly kicking out and hogging - pity I'm not aware of it!! Poor him!

slowshow · 10/01/2011 11:15

Thanks for your words of wisdom haloflo. I never thought I would be so glad to feel nauseous, and so worried when I don't!

Fantastic news about hearing the heartbeat HH Grin

Well, I went to the GPs on Saturday. She didn't seem concerned by my periody cramps, and didn't really say anything when I mentioned how scared and neurotic I am! She referred me to the midwives at the local hosp, and sent me away with a form to send off for free prescriptions and a copy of the famous Emma's Diary. I've shut it all away in a cupboard because it feels like tempting fate just having it in the HOUSE.

cherrycobbler · 10/01/2011 11:34

thanks for tips hermya, will def try the hot/cold water thing. Seeing the GP on Weds and hoping to get some splints then, have been sleeping in some sports type wrist supports which have helped hugely this weekend (as has not being at work typing all day I suspect!).

Grin and Shock at your injury MrsW. V glad there's a non-sinister explanation for the blood! We have been very intermittent on the shagging front, I feel a bit bad for poor DH.

slowshow I had periody cramps till about week 9, apparently its just everything stretching and settling down. They freaked me out though!

halo yay for pram, and sounds v good plan to physically check out cots. I am the same. Nothing quite like seeing it in person to really make your mind up.

hh hooray for doppler success! We have one and had days of being able to find it and days of not being able to find it so you must promise you won't panic if you can't find it one day! Won't be long till you get little flicks to reassure you your LO is still happy and growing :)

aly - eeeek its so near for you now! You have had a pretty tough time (I am still Shock at you being told no sweets and no orgasms for the full nine months) and so exciting you will soon be able to met your little (good news at the growth scan!) one.

aly323 · 10/01/2011 16:01

MrsW I'm sorry about the scare, but am a little Envy at the fact that you're getting action. We've gone a little off. I wouldn't mind some, but H is totally freaked out by the idea.

HH Absolutely agree with Cherry's advice regarding the doppler. It sure is nice when you o find the heartbeat, though.

On the same note, also wanted to say to SS that I experienced the period cramps, too. I also had times when they went away and then I worried about not having them.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I have to say that nerves are finally starting to hit a little...

Oh, gotta run. I have yet another appointment and plenty of new embarrassing questions to pose to my dr. I'll check in this evening!!

kurlyvoice · 10/01/2011 21:31

Hello all, and a Happy New Year! Tried to be a good wife over the holidays and spend time with DH rather than MN too much, and we have managed totally to clear out the "room of doom" ready to turn it into a nursery. It was a long ol' job! Have also bought a buggy/pram (an iCandy Peach) which is wonderful, a car seat, and a crib. No cots yet, but mostly because DH doesn't like the matching wardrobes! Am currently trying to get him to make a decision, but that's a tricky on...

Hope everyone is doing ok so far this year. Am going to attempt a quick catch-up but please don't be cross if I miss an important bit of news as I am definitely suffering from babybrain!

Congrats to slowshow but sorry that you've been having a worrying time. You're in good company with us - we were all paranoid wrecks for the first trimester but things do get better. Just make sure that you rest lots, enjoy your favourite clothes for the last time, and have someone to talk to about your worries.

Wonderful to hear about the pip's heartbeat, highheels - it is the most AMAZING sound, isn't it? I'm glad that you've told a few important people at school - it was such a relief to me, knowing that my HoD understood and didn't ask me to do anything extra in that first half term!

aly, good luck! Hope all goes well and that all your difficult pregnancy issues disappear the moment that LO is placed in your arms.

Sorry to hear about your wrists, cherry - how rotten. Hope you get to see a physio soon and they sort you out. Good that the temporary splints are helping a bit! DH is getting fed up with me twisting and turning, but mostly complains about my snoring. I have never been a snorer but, that's what pregnancy does to you...

MrsWajs, I've been struggling with the hips etc too and have found my new gym ball helps a little with getting things realigned after a hard day. My maternity leave is going to start on the 21st too, though I don't get to use up any leave beforehand, dammit! Stupid teaching. Your LO is so going to turn up before mine, I just know it!

Thanks for popping in, bunny, and congratulations on your family-home-to-be!

halo, you are a sweetie - you remembered me and my silly placenta. Am pleased to report that I am getting lots of kicks and thumps and using-my-bladder-as-a-trampoline, and loving every one of them! DH feels them the most in the middle of the night when I turn over for a cuddle and so does the baby, and that's always quite special. We've got a maxicosi car seat and you should be able to fit it with just a seatbelt, or you can buy one of two different types of base, depending on whether you have the isofix bars in your car.

Hermya, I am totally imagining a mini-Burns looking up at you from the crib with his little fingers tapping one another, and having the odd scratch!

And finally, before I sign off and finish scaring myself with One Born Every Minute, huge congratulations to mumnerves and lucky on their early Christmas present births!

crazybutterflylady · 12/01/2011 09:07

Morning all!

Just popping in to say hi while I can really, is going to be a bit manic for me in the next weeks or so as The Move looms. Have started thinking about which hospital to go to and am thoroughly confused.

Will keep an eye on the thread in case of any new arrivals or BFPs :)

Hope you're all doing well

xx

MrsWajs · 13/01/2011 09:57

Very quiet in here!

Just wanted to say to those who still need to buy nursery furniture - if any of you had been looking at the M&P Garda nursery furniture in Argos then now is the time to buy it!

They are adverstising the wardrobe, cotbed, and changer for £612 as a package deal but if you add all the items to your trolley seperately it only comes to £439!! Think it's because all the items have been reduced individually but they haven't adjusted the package price to match it - probably on purpose! I'm amazed that my mushy brain even noticed this!

I ordered mine last night and pretty pleased with myself, was going to be ordering the salisbury pine set (to keep costs down) but sinve this deal was only another £30 I decided to get it instead - pretty chuffed with myself! :)

Now to pick a colour scheme!

cherrycobbler · 13/01/2011 13:57

fab bargain spotting mrsw! and also impressed to hear that the nursery is shaping up kurly. We have still done absolutely no shopping or clearing, but think we are going to have to start clearing out what will be the nursery (currently filled with lots of random junk) in the next few weeks so we can then work out what we should buy...

hope house moves for bunny and crazy go well!

went to the doc yesterday and they are going to refer me to someone to get proper wrist splints fitted - hurrah. Am checking to see if I can have private referral through my work medical insurance as apparently would get my appt much quicker. My temporary sports supports from Boots are really helping at night so thats fab.

Will be 24 weeks next week - don't know why but feels like a real milestone Grin

pixiestix · 13/01/2011 16:32

24 weeks Cherry, wow! That really is a milestone as its when the baby becomes "viable" - that is to say, they become a person in their own right, not just an extension of you, so if they are born that early then hospitals have a duty to do everything they can for them. A fab point to get to in pg! Smile

Well done on your bargainous nursery set MrsW. I am embarrased to say that Tegan's room has become a bit of a junk room again over Christmas as she sleeps in with us and its the easist place to throw store stuff Blush. I must get around to de-junking it again.

Kurly - the ICandy Peach is loooooovely! Grin

Well, its pouring down here and the baby has been grumpy as hell all day Sad Roll on wine-o-clock.

slowshow · 14/01/2011 10:20

I'm 5+1 today. 12 weeks feels like YEARS away.

Decided to take another pregnancy test last night Grin I have FAR too many internet cheapies. The positive line came up before the control line. I was ridiculously pleased about that!

Look at all you lot buying things - how long did it take before you felt "safe" to go out buying? I'm thinking about six months, or is that OTT?

Congrats on nearly reaching 24 weeks Cherry! It is a big milestone Smile

cherrycobbler · 14/01/2011 11:23

feel for you slowshow, the first few weeks (till about 9 wks) completely dragged for me. we were going to wait till our 20 weeks scan before we bought anything but still haven't bought a thing - should really get going in the next month or two as don't fancy shopping whilst huge and tired!

hope your day improved pixie!

happy fridays all x

mumnerves · 14/01/2011 11:32

lucky am totally with you on the boob out theory! I think it's a sign when you start favouring baggy tops where I can just pull the collar down to feed :o

Hermya I've got exactly the same problem with mittens. I've just given in and not put any on now but how do you trim their nails, any advice?

halo I agree with you about touching before you buy, it's just nice to see how big they are as well as I have no sense of sizing. Can't believe you've only got 7 weeks to go! It's flown by!!

Mrswajs your lucky DH! At that point I'd kicked my DH out of the bed into the spare room (I think he was glad to go as I was snoring my head off too ) the discomfort goes after birth so not long now for you! Great bargain btw!

slowshow aww at you feeling all worried, I remember the feeling and it's awful! Don't worry too much about buying stuff later, you'll find a lot gets given to you and you'll find lots of bargains on the way. Just stick to any must have bargains for now and you'll know when you're ready to buy stuff x

aly good luck with the drs appointment.

waves to kurly and anyone else I've missed out.

haloflo · 14/01/2011 19:24

Evening all.

mumsnerves 6 weeks of work now but still 9 until my EDD, am 30+5 now! Cannot believe I am this far along although am starting to feel i've been pregnant forever.

mrsw Ouch! I hope you are ok after that fright. I am a nightmare in bed too (and not just because DP doesn't get much anymore!) My sausage pillow and I take up a lot of room & need lots of covers. I'm sure I must shake the whole bed when turning now the amount of effort it takes! Do you have an extra pillow? I couldn't live without mine & having it between my legs is very comfortable for my hips. Hope the 25 week appointment went well. Well done on your bargain nursery too.

slowshow I had crampy feelings for ages. I tried to think of them as stretching and that helped reassure me. The 12 week wait does drag but think of it a day at a time, week at a time and you will get there. Try to step away from the tests but it is exciting when the positive comes up so fast and so dark! I didn't buy anything until 6 months but Christmas got in the way. Before then you find that you need to buy so much for yourself! Food for me in the 12 week wait (I loved bread, crisps and was tempted by shop bought sandwiches most days) & lots of maternity clothes in the second trimester.

kurly Glad to hear from you! Your movement sounds brilliant. My DH only felt the LO for the first time this week. 2 massive kicks Monday, 1 yesterday and 2 today. Strange how there was nothing for ages & now baby won't leave him alone! I managed to fit the maxi cosi with the seatbelt, pleased with how it feels now. I will buy a base if I use the car a lot but living in the city centre with all family nearby I don't know how much we will use it.

cherry Brilliant news about 24 weeks. I love the idea that the LO becomes a person in their own right. Hope the boots supports keep the worst of the pain away until your referral comes through.

crazy Why are you confused about hospitals? No rush to reply. I hope the move goes well.

pixie Nice to see you, hope you enjoyed your wine last night!

We also have a new BFP on the frolickers, congrats to roundtable

roundtable · 15/01/2011 22:01

Hi all (waves from the corner)

Haven't read all the thread but think I'm going to fit in well here.

I have spent the last few days panicking, knicker checking and weeing on sticks...even in the middle of the night. Also am having cramps and random pains which I'm finding worrying and boobs feel like someone's stuck a needle down the nipple!

Dh is so excited as well it feels like we're tempting fate. I'm going to try to book the doctors on monday.

Well hello again to everyone and I'm wishing a smooth 9 months for everyone. Grin

Sorry my phone double posted!

luckyseven · 16/01/2011 09:32

Congratulations roundtable fantastic to see new frolicker BFPs, everything you are experiencing we have all been through and no question is too silly or inappropriate for on here! Enjoy this exciting time and i hope the next few weeks go quickly and smoothly for you and dh.

Have i missed the news from oneof8?

mumnerves · 16/01/2011 12:56

roundtable congrats!! As lucky said, don't worry about the paranoia and questions, keep them coming we've all been there, soon you'll be getting your 20 week scan and feeling all heavy! :)

lucky I was also thinking of oneof8 hope you're doing ok hun and we get an update soon

highheelsandequations · 16/01/2011 14:28

Hi everyone, haven't managed to get in here much this week as I have been completely exhausted. Was hoping that second trimester meant more energy but so far I've been feeling no better, possibly even worse as work has been so busy. Just keep dragging myself through the day and getting home and bursting into tears on DPs shoulder and telling myself that it will soon get better.

Hermya lovely to hear the stories about your little man. It makes the idea that this might end with a baby seem more real!

Halo you start your ML the same day as my 20 week scan I think. I'd be exactly the same needing to touch and see things for real before buying them, online shopping is great but not like the real thing :) Still haven't told everyone at work yet, but might do this week, otherwise I'm sure I'm going to slip up and say something one day soon.

Bunny so exciting about your new home and new nursery.

MrsW hope you've healed from your Shock injury. Sorry to hear you're entering the uncomfortable, tossing and turning stage but great news about the nursery bargains.

slowshow hope you're still doing okay. My GP was very uninterested when I went to see him too. I had periody cramps nearly constantly for the first few weeks and then on and off until about 10 or 11 weeks. Was told they're stretching/growing pains and perfectly normal. Still get aches now and then, which always panic me, but I try and remember a comment someone made along the lines of "of course you're uncomfortable, you're growing a whole person in there!" I ended up peeing on all my internet cheapies, one a day until they were gone, luckily I didn't have tooo many left!

mumnerves no personal experience, but one of my pregnancy books recommends trimming new babies nails by biting them..

Kurly well done on clearing out the room. My HoD has definitely stopped asking me to do extra things, not sure whether it's to be nice or whether it's because she knows that in my current state I would do a rubbish job anyway! Good news about the movements, I can't wait to start feeling movement.

crazyb hope everything's going well with the move.

cherry congrats on the 24 week milestone and hope the wrist splints make a big difference.

congratulations and welcome to roundtable. I'm almost 15 weeks now and still a nervous wreck!

Well pleased to announce that all went well at the EPU on Tues. Midwife was lovely and spent ages looking round with the scan and showing us pip from different angles. She couldn't get a good CRL measrurement as pip was trying to curl up but head measurements dated 14+1, exactly the dates I had thought. I think officially I'm still 14+4 now but I'm 14+6 in my head, which somehow makes me feel a little better! She couldn't find any reason for the spotting, which she said was a good thing, and it seems to have stopped again so fingers crossed that was the last of our scares. Now I'm just impatiently waiting my bump instead of just looking like I've been eating too much and hiding in baggy clothes. I am really fed up of wearing the same 4 or 5 tunic tops day after day and my 2 pairs of maternity trousers as my normal ones are far too uncomfortable now, but feeling like I can't really go shopping for maternity clothes till I look properly pregnant! In desperate need of some jeans though, may need to venture to the shops next weekend.

crazybutterflylady · 16/01/2011 18:09

Hi all

Congrats roundtable and welcome to the madness!!

Thanks for all the good wishes on the move. We actually leave on Thursday so this weekend has been sorting last bits out and trying to stay calm Hmm

highheels 14 weeks... that seems to have flown by. I'm sure not for you! Hopefully the next 2 trimesters will be easier for you! I can't believe I am nearly in my third trimester... Cherry, kurly and I seem to have sped along nicely so I am sure it will be the same for you! Have you looked at bump bands to help make the most of your 'normal' clothes? I was in maternity stuff from about week 10 though so I know how you're feeling. The bump will pop out in no time!

halo am stressing about hospitals because my nearest one is Milton keynes and they have had quite negative reviews and a bad press lately in terms of the maternity care. I have found a few options with the help of the Local boards which is giving me a bit more confidence though...and apparently MK isn't as bad as is made out. I have a(nother) booking in appt next week with the new midwife so I'll be asking her a lot of questions and trying to get some info about the different places, then maybe doing some tours.

to kurly. Lovely to hear from you hun!

Hi to everyone else... am off for a well-deserved bath!!

xx

slowshow · 16/01/2011 18:24

Hello roundtable Grin. Glad to have another slightly pregnant person to keep me company! How far along do you think you are?

roundtable · 16/01/2011 19:21

Hi slowshow the same goes! Grin

I think 3 weeks since conception so doctor would add 2 weeks into that to go with the start of my last period? I totally unclear how this works Blush does that make me 5 weeks?

Dh has already blabbing to family can't say there reaction was particularly gushing and a few demands thrown in for good measure! Oh w

How far are you?

Sorry for bad spelling and grammar my phone is being a nightmare!

roundtable · 16/01/2011 19:23

Thank you for everyones welcomes too!
