Hello All,

Congrats to all the new BFPs!

Thanks Hermya for the nice new thread:)

Ozzie congrats on your little boy (i have to go back and read the old thread, but i hope you are all ok now)

Sorry have been awol again...this moving malarkey is tiring! We are pretty settled now, having problems finding the right car to buy but that is not a serious problem. DH has been looking for jobs (read monopolising the laptop) and i have not had a chance to catch up properly.

addie i know how you feel with the big bump, i had to have a scan to check on size and bubs is in the 95th percentile, unlike you i am not tall neither is DH, however my family do tend to have 8 or 9 pound babies. They wont believe that i do not have GD so i will be doing another test this wednesday..looking forward to fasting again! I am starting to freak out a little, did they say they would let you go to full term? It is more medical over here, they have already mentioned being induced if the growth continues a this rate.

bunny I feel like a proper aussie now i have my yellow pregnancy card:)

Other than the size issue i have had to have loads more tests here than in the uk, vit D, chicken pox, (about 4 other blood tests i cant remember) also a swab coming up that i dont think they do in the uk. Not surprisingly my vitamin D test came back a bit low (living in the uk for 6 years can do that) so i am now on 2 supplements twice a day. (i checked my normal pregnancy multi vitamin and it had 100% of RDI so i am not really happy about that) so UK ladies get out in the sun while you still can!

Hope everyone is well, promise to catch up more often (esp if DH has some luck with a job soon)

luckyseven · 06/09/2010 23:33

just watched special delivery the maternity ward documentary i was posting about the other day. Warning approach with caution it is very graphic not like one born every min which was more about the people and silly partners!

bunnygirl80 · 07/09/2010 00:03

Hi everyone.

Just a quick post from me as am at work - will try and catch up properly later.

Congrats to the recent influx of BFPs Grin

chance glad you're feeling like a proper Aussie!! If you're interested we're trying to organise a Sydney MN meet up - the thread's in living overseas (can't post link at the moment) Smile

hobnob sorry LO hasn't managed to turn. It's so exciting that you know the date she'll arrive though

On the no bubble bath issue - I think you shouldn't use it if you're getting lots of thrush or after your waters have broken. Or I could just be making that up but think I've read that somewhere Smile

crazybutterflylady · 07/09/2010 09:41

Morning everyone

Hi cherry! We can be worriers together. Fancy sharing a bitten nail over a nice ovaltine? I think go to the GP, I went last week, I was 4 weeks that day. Don't expect anything flash though, mine just said 'great', shoved some papers in my hand about what not to eat etc and then said i should make a booking in appointment around 10 weeks. We have booked an early scan for 3 weeks time... am counting down the days really. In hindsight I wish I had asked the Dr for an earlier appointment because it's my first. I would recommend trying it! I think the main thing is to try and stay calm even though you're nervous, because we need to be relaxed to help the little bean grow. Lots of baths (now I know I can Grin ), books, walks etc.

kurly can't believe your doctor... ignore him and focus on staying positive.

Thanks for the warning about the show lucky, think I might give it a wide berth!

Hobnob 37+1! Congrats! I guess it's nice to know when you'll have the LO as you can plan a bit more for it. I am not sure any of us will ever be mentally ready for it, it's such a scary thing... but tis as nature intended, so we will be fine!

My sense of smell has arrived and uh, it's driving me mad! I think sickness is round the corner as I am already feeling queasy when I get a particularly strong smell. Also, when I wear trousers it's really uncomfortable on my tummy, but it's too early to buy maternity clothes so I am going to have to live in dresses and slobby bottoms on the weekend...

xx

cherrycobbler · 07/09/2010 10:53

crazy some nail biting over ovaltine sounds good! I think I am 4+1 today as think we conceived on our wedding anniversary (aw) but if you go from my LMP I'm 5 today which is obviously a better number! I am going to take your advice and book in to see docs later this week or early next. And will try to relax! But its soooo hard.

chance hope move went well - and gosh re the number of tests! Am off on hols next week and will try and get lots of Vit D sunshine then - been a miserable summer here in the UK

NovemberAli · 07/09/2010 10:56

I think I might be on my way Grin! Irregular contractions started last evening, managed to sleep most of the night and woke up with them again at about 5am. Since been coming every 10 - 20min but coping okay with the use of TENS machine at the moment. Also had a show so things look like they're definitely moving in the right direction! I guess this phase might last a while though so just taking it easy at home - wish me luck!

crazybutterflylady · 07/09/2010 10:56

cherry I think you are further ahead than me then, I am only 4+4 today from CD1 of LMP! SCARY!!

x

kkas · 07/09/2010 11:06

just popping in to wish november good luck!

cherrycobbler · 07/09/2010 11:09

oh my goodness november BEST OF LUCK!!

crazy can I ask about your early scan? Is it a private one? And did you just call up a private clinic and ask for one? Do you have to give a reason?

felicityFlick · 07/09/2010 11:39

November!! Best of luck Chick! Come back soon with your new baby :) xxx

crazybutterflylady · 07/09/2010 11:42

GOOD LUCK NOVEMBER may it be nice and easy! xx

cherry because we found out so early and the GPs are so shite busy we just wanted peace of mind really. We are going here. Luckily I have an allowance through my private healthcare at work, which I can use for procedures/treatments that wouldn't otherwise be authorised so we are using that. It will pay for a 4D scan later on too which is really good

If you have a look on the site, you'll see what you can see at different week numbers. You don't have to have a referral or anything, it's completely separate and in addition to anything you would get on the NHS.

x

chancewouldbeafinething · 07/09/2010 12:21

good luck november, will be thinking of you :)

cherrycobbler · 07/09/2010 13:26

thanks crazy for the link - I have to say it looks v tempting, 12 weeks does seem such a long time away. I think my LMP dates are wrong as I usually have long cycles and ov late so am prob about two days behind you - good to have someone to be terrified with! Have fingers crossed for both of us :)

crazybutterflylady · 07/09/2010 13:29

Yeah definitely! I have just bought a pregnancy magazine. I feel like I am tempting fate but then I tell myself I am being stupid... such mixed emotions!
I have my MN contact thing activated if you want to email me, feel free!
x

crazybutterflylady · 07/09/2010 13:39

Shock just read that the Tories are dropping the pregnancy allowance!?

You'll only get it if you are 25 weeks before 1 January... (we will miss out cherry!)

Tsk tsk x

SaorAlba · 07/09/2010 13:54

Good luck November!

Yeah, crazy if my EDD stays the same then I get the health in pregnancy grant by two weeks. It's £190 of free money and although I'm glad to be getting it I can see why the government is axing it.

I'm 10 +1 today, 1/4 of the way through, yay!

crazybutterflylady · 07/09/2010 13:57

Yay that's great, when is your scan booked for?
Has it flown for you? It seems like only a week of so ago that you got your BFP! x

SaorAlba · 07/09/2010 14:35

You're right crazy, things have gone by quicker than I expected. Also everything seems more secure with each passing day.

My first scan is on September 20th - two weeks yesterday. I'll be exactly 12 weeks. After this I'll tell my parents, the rest of my family and then Facebook :D

OneOf8 · 07/09/2010 15:31

Just popping in to say good luck November!!

Saor & Crazy - bet you are glad to have the dates for your scans confirmed.

The first few weeks (looking back) seemed to fly by - think this is because you have the first scan to worry about look forwards to. I wouldn't even look at the screen at our 12 weeks until OH confirmed all appeared to be ok I was soooo nervous!

In my news - I can feel baby moving about now more clearly, although no repeat of the "thud" and definitely cant feel anything from outside yet (I think it is still early as everyone differs, so not worried!) - cue one incident of baby moving, me being sure i would feel it from outside as very clearly moving about... so stopped what I was doing, and jammed my hand down the front of my trousers to have a little feel... this may not have been so bad, had I not been in the middle of an open plan office at that precise moment.

Yes, this will have definitely "outed" me, as aware someone did facebook about it - however in my defence the trousers were thick so HAD to "get inside" the trousers to be in with a chance and had a pregnancy brain moment, completely forgetting where I was - so not "pervy management liking the new admin temp" but excited 1st timer!!!

Punch line is I have my own office where I could have gone (and not been seen) had I thought about it!

So, anyone who has done something equally as inapproprite as touch yourself in the middle of a busy office please get in touch at i couldn't help it as had left my brain at home dot com!!

addie81 · 07/09/2010 16:51

GOOD LUCK NOVEMBER!!!!!

kurlyvoice · 07/09/2010 17:19

Good luck November! Grin Everything crossed for an easy delivery and let us all know when you emerge from the other side.

Sorry for ranting yesterday, girls, but thank you all for being so sweet and telling me to put the worries aside and be positive. After a stern talking to (given by myself) and no dodgy dreams, I am feeling better and am going to be positive, take each day as a time, and look forward to seeing the midwife in a fortnight. I've been told that it's an hour appointment - is that what everyone else has had? Seems like a LONG one (though I'm not complaining).

Big to crazy and cherry as newbie buddies. crazy, I've always had quite a heightened sense of smell but yesterday could not even go in the kitchen as the smell of my roast the previous day lingering took me very close to running for the loo. Poor DH had to make my toast and bring it upstairs for me.

I'd also seen about the lack of free baby money hitting us squarely in the jaw. Grrrrr! But you're right, Saor, I can understand why they're scrapping it with it's total lack of means-testing. At least child benefit is still around! I'm already worrying about how I will be kept in Dermalogica on maternity pay... Wink

I have to confess to watching a re-run on 4OD of One Born Every Minute yesterday but am going to try and resist for the next couple of weeks as it made me cry (in a good way!). Anyway, I have very little of interest to say so am going to get my head around the rest of the week's lessons.

cherrycobbler · 07/09/2010 18:34

I know re pregnancy grant! And so close! To be fair, would have felt a bit guilty getting it.

soar good luck for scan and oneof8 WOW re feeling the baby move (all this stuff still astounds me). Great story re the office! Can't believe that for both of you your first weeks flew by. Every minute for me is dragging - but going to man up and chill out... from tomorrow.

pixiestix · 07/09/2010 19:15

Good luck November!!!!!!!!! Smile Smile

I saw the midwife today and the baby has engaged. Ooooooooh! Grin

mumnerves · 07/09/2010 20:31

crazy not heard about not using bubble bath but pregnancy more likely to get thrush so maybe it's about using too much and irritating yourself 'down below' ? I have heard about not having too hot a bath during your first trimester as increased risk of MC.
PCOS can predispose you to a reduced chance of getting pregnant but it's not to mean you cannot get pregnant. I understand your anxiety tho and keeping my fingers crossed for you, however as everyone else has said the odds are in your favour.

worrisome pleased to hear LO has turned! Am a bit Envy that you're finishing work, bet you're ready for it.

Cherry congratulations!!! It's normal to be worried, just shows you care! BTW the worrying has only just started, these babies will be worrying us for the rest of our lives.

hobnob oooooooooh!! I'm so chuffed I've got another fellow frolicker giving birth at the same hospital :o Apparently slightly higher CS rates than the one in the city centre, so you'll be well looked after and it's such a lovely hospital isn't it? I'm sure when the time comes you'll be mentally prepared, my mum had 3 CS(all no choice) and she was fine, I'm sure you will be too!

November good luck!!!! How exciting!

CHance Please to hear you've finally moved, I think you're very brave to move at this stage, we're getting our house decorated and that's traumatic enoughHmm

pixie oooooooooooohh not long now! :)

Got decorator in this week and everything is a mess, dusty, arrrgh! It'll be worth it though, have gotten nursery painted a rosey cream and getting a lovely new carpet too. Bought a cotbed a few weeks back and a lovely big chair for me, so can't wait till nursery is ready and we can start furnishing it, how exciting! :)

MrsWajs · 07/09/2010 21:33

Oooh november good luck my dear hope it all goes well :)

Bought myself some seabands today - so far they seem to be working a little bit. Nausea fees a bit better than it was anyway.......or it could just be psychosomatic!
