Just popping in to congratulate november Matilda is a beautiful name, I also love it!

Also, WHITE! So good to see you back -we've all been really worried. Glad all well- will keep em peeled for your imminent news! xxxxxx

Spirael · 15/09/2010 13:32

Afternoon all!

Firstly... I'm so sorry things aren't looking good, fudgecat. :( I can't even imagine what you're going through. I hope you get all the help you need during this difficult time!

Been a bit AWOL lately - mostly because I missed the new topic for ages and thought you'd all just gone a bit quiet. Blush Oops!

I've been quite busy lately getting Mindy's naming ceremony organised for next month. Currently though I'm at work for a day and making use of my lunchbreak to post. Grin It feels weird being apart from my LO... But also strangely liberating!

Many congratulations to NovemberAli! Grin Matilda is a lovely name with so many lovely nicknames too. I expect a full report on how the birth went and your time so far as a new Mummy, as soon as you're up to it!

Hopefully you'll be joining the ranks soon, WhiteRoses. :) Fingers crossed everything will go smoothly for you. We'll have to start thinking about making a postnatal topic soon for the frolicking graduates to go, as they train for a Mummy Masters!

pixiestix · 15/09/2010 15:33

Fudge - I posted on your other thread but I wanted to say again how sorry I am, and how phenomenal you have been over the last few months. I will not stop hoping for you and Splodge, you deserve a miracle.

November - huge congratulations on Matilda's birth. What a gorgeous name! I hope everything went smoothly for you both.

Roses - its soooooooo good to have you back! I missed my symptom-spotting partner! And I was getting really worried. You sound like you are much closer than me now. My LO was engaged all of last week but now the little bugger has popped back out again. So back to square one for me! (or thats what it feels like anyway)

Spirael - I can't believe you are back to work already, even if only for one day. You seem to take everything in your stride - please tell me that you are actually a total basket case in real life!!
Great ideas for a postgrad thread title too!

WorrisomeHeart · 15/09/2010 15:39

Yay for November and Matilda!! Fantastic news.

Roses fab to see you back and hear that all is well - so exciting about having a show, means something is happening even if it's not that apparent yet!

Spireal am also completley in awe of you being back at work!! Glad all is well wiht Mindy.

Just a quick one as we are still overrun by builders (but hopefully today is the last day).

bunnygirl80 · 15/09/2010 23:27

November Congratulations. Matilda is such a lovely name Smile

Roses so good to see you back here. We were getting worried about you! Hope your LO makes an appearance soon

Spirael glad you and Mindy are doing well

chance in case you're interested it's the Sydney Baby show from 1st-3rd Oct. Might be a bit close to your EDD to be wandering around a baby expo, but it looks like there should be some bargains if you need any last minute stuff

hobnob I'm going to be offline for a while after today, so I'll wish you good luck with your CS now in case I don't get the opportunity before the day. Hope it all goes well Smile

I've started to get lots of lower back pain over the last few days. I finally got around to pumping up my gym ball, and bouncing around on that seems to be helping. The only problem is that the air keeps leaking out of hthe ball slowly so it gets flatter and flatter throughout the day.

Have attempted to update the stats with November's arrival and the latest grads. Remember to add your EDD once you know it!

NovemberAli · 16/09/2010 10:04

I can't believe Matilda is a week old already! I think I had posted when I had been having contractions on the Tuesday which started at 5am and were regularly every 10min throughout the day. I used the TENS machine and found that really helped, whether it was actual pain relief or just a distraction I'm not sure. Contractions started to get more regular at about 7pm and DP was timing them throughout the England match (!).

I phoned the labour suite when they were about 4-5min apart and was asked to try and hold off at home until i was struggling as they were so busy. I lasted another hour by which point they were coming every 2-3min and was starting to struggle so they said to come in. We got there about 11pm and I was 5cm dilated so I was allowed to stay.I managed with gas and air for a couple of hours then got into the birthing pool which was absolutely fantastic.

I was in there until fully dilated but my waters hadn't gone so the midwife broke them for me, unfortunately there was a lot of meconium in the waters so I couldn't get back in the pool - I ending up waddling down a corridor fully dilated back to the delivery room! After coping really well up to that point I struggled with the pushing stage which lasted over two hours - the doctor wanted use a ventouse to assist but I had a senior midwife who was determined I would push her out myself.

So I got there in the end and it was amazing, unfortunately I had a 3rd degree tear so had to go into surgery and wasn't able to hold her straight away but when I did it was fantastic. We stayed in hospital for a few days due to the tear and because she had difficulty with feeding to start with but we're working through that now. It still seems a bit surreal and I can't believe she's actually here!

crazybutterflylady · 16/09/2010 13:07

NovemberAli thanks so much for sharing :) it's so exciting to hear birth stories, especially for us who are so early on. It seems a lifetime away, to me anyway. Glad to hear you are managing with the breastfeeding and hope that the tear is healing well.

Thanks for updating the list bunnygirl :) hope your back pain is easing slightly.

I went to pregnancy yoga last night and felt like a right idiot as everyone else had big bumps and were obviously VERY pregnant, as opposed to me, who is just a little bit Blush. I enjoyed it though - everyone was really welcoming too which helped - and I found it really relaxing, so I think I'll keep going.

I just got my appointment for my 12 week scan - 1 November (when I will actually be 13 weeks :) ), I can't wait. I hope the time goes quickly. Obviously we have the early scan in 2 weeks but I am not sure that will show much other than the heartbeat.

Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the last of the good weather! x

superpenguin · 16/09/2010 14:21

Hello everyone!

fudgecat if you are reading this I'm so sorry to hear your sad news.

Big congratulations to november on your new arrival! and thanks for sharing your birth story too.

I am ok except still feeling sick, not helped by a nightmare business trip yesterday, involving a very early morning start and late evening finish, and 3 hours in a car and 5 hours on a plane - 4 very bumpy and shaky flights in a small plane, all in one day.
Suffice to say I was sick when I got home.

Apart from that, all is well! :-)

OneOf8 · 16/09/2010 14:56

Hi all, just had a little read whilst on lunch.

Crazy, there is a website that shows images of other people's scans through the weeks (this is my treat for a Monday morning - I look to see what baby looks like now!)

I counted that you?d be 8 weeks at the time of your scan - so should be able to see something similar to this

Don't be alarmed if image is different/not as clear to these ones tho - Halo had a lovely clear pic at 11+2 where as mine was much fuzzier and not as well defined (IYSWIM) at 11+1.

NovemberAli thank you for sharing Matilda's birth - one week already!! Wow!

Super sounds like a fun filled day! Hope your feeling better now?

Hope everyone else is well?

crazybutterflylady · 16/09/2010 15:12

Oneof8 that's really sweet of you, thanks. It has really cheered me up thinking I might actually see some shape. I was thinking there's just be a pip there :) I am bookmarking that site! x

Just a quick question to you experienced ones... I keep getting sort of funny twinges around my groin... is that normal? Only maybe once or twice a week...and sort of around the undercarriage

?

chancewouldbeafinething · 17/09/2010 02:08

fudge will be thinking of you today, fingers are crossed for a miracle for you all xx

roses so glad that you are ok - very exciting that you are having early signs of labour....will be looking forward to hearing your news soon

spireal glad to hear you are going well, and enjoying a day at work

bunny thanks for the info, i am not sure i will still be able to waddle around by then, but will keep it in mind. oh and when is the sydney catch up? i didnt find the other thread. Good luck with the ball, a couple of my friends swear by them.

crazy dont worry about feeling silly at yoga - i started when i was 12 weeks and felt the same, you will soon have a bump to show off. I felt more benefit once i was a little bigger though, it helped to find space to breath:)
The twinges are normal, i think we all had them. If you have any bleeding then you should let your doctor know, but even then it could still all be normal, so dont panic.

super i hope you are feeling better - take it easy this weekend!

november Fantastic news - CONGRATULATIONS!! loving the name too - very Australian:) Thanks for sharing your story, sorry to hear about your tear, hope it heals up quickly. please keep letting us know how your are getting on.

addie have you finished at work yet?

worrisome hope the building work is over soon so you can relax

News from me - DH was lucky to land a pretty good contract job and has been at work all week, they have already approached him for another job when this is over so fingers crossed it works out, I think he is happy now as he feels more settled. At my check up on Monday my little man was mm away from being engaged, since then i have been having shooting pains down my tummy so I am guessing that by next week he will be in place. Like pixie i can confirm that there has been no let up on the heartburn, in fact this week i have had more sleepless nights, and even spent most of last night being sick!
I got my results back and definitely do not have GD, luckily. I am feeling really huge now, and getting sick of the 'you must be over due' questions now. At least everyone keeps telling me i am all baby, so i dont feel i have put on too much weight. I will get DH to take a new photo and try and post it so you can see how huge i am. I am trying to spend at least a few hours a day with my feet up soaking in the sunshine to get my Vit D up.

Hope everyone is well, and has a great weekend:)

Hobnob76 · 17/09/2010 08:12

November Congrats on the birth of Matilda!

Fudgecat Sorry to hear you're going through this, I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling.

Whiteroses Nice to 'see' you back! Glad all is going ok with you. Sorry to hear about the kidney infection, blimey you have suffered during this pregnancy!

Bunnygirl Thanks for your good wishes, really appreciate it. I'll update further on me below. Hope your backache gets better, I had a bad back for a few weeks, and found a microwavable wheat bag helped a little with the pain.

Crazy Twinges and period type pains are perfectly normal, iirc I had them until I was well into my 2nd trimester. I was permanantly on knicker watch! (Actually still am, now I'm just looking for evidence of a 'show'!)

As for me, my ELCS is booked for next Tues 21/9 Shock My little diva is still not playing ball and is still breech, so eviction via the sunroof it'll have to be! I'm absolutely cacking myself, never had surgery of any kind, last time I stayed in hospital I was 7yrs old and can't really remember it. Feels strange to think that this is the last weekend that DH and I will spend as a couple, by next weekend we'll be a family Grin Such a surreal feeling!

WorrisomeHeart · 17/09/2010 08:14

Hi all

Am having a wonderful morning - mostly because it's the first day of my mat leave when the house hasn't been full of builders!!! Yayyyy bathroom is finished and looks divine - I've been doing a lot of wallowing in the tub (cue whale noises from tactful hubby Grin). Also can now start my cleaning properly which is great.

Still got the horrible rash/itch but blood results are due back this afternoon so at least I'll be able to rule out any liver issues (hopefully). It's driving me crazy though - a good challenge of my willpower not to scratch!!

chance soooo exciting that you're so close to being engaged! And fab news re your hubby's job, thats brilliant.

crazy I second the reassurance re the twinges - and as you go through the pregnancy you'll see that it's 9 months full of weird sensations!

november so great to hear your story and I think you're amazing for doing so well! Hope you and Matilda are having a lovely babymoon.

bunny I find the birth ball really helps with back pain - especially if you can con DH into giving a massage while you bounce on it Wink

penguin Your trip sounds awful, poor you! Hope you are getting a chance to rest now.

Hi to everyone else!

crazybutterflylady · 17/09/2010 09:05

Morning everyone... thanks for the reassurance :)

Apologies in advance for a mememe post but I really need an outlet...

Mr Crazy had to call an ambulance out for me last night :( I woke up at around 1.15 and couldn't speak! My right arm had gone numb and every time I tried to tell him it came out as a sort of jumbled noise - scariest thing that has ever happened to me!! I gestured to get me some paper so I could write it down and told him to call 999.

The ambulance came (by this point I could speak - so I felt ridiculous and fraudulent and like I was wasting their time Blush ) and took lots of tests. My BP was raised and my pulse was racing, but everything else seemed fine so they stayed with me until they had lowered then asked if I wanted to go in for more tests as they had no idea what caused it. I was starting to feel sick and really heavy headed so I said I just wanted to try and sleep because the original symptoms had gone - the paramedics said they weren't sure the hospital could do anything anyway.

Anyway, Mr Crazy seems to think it could have been a severe migraine, as I do suffer normally, but have only experience the visual problems and sickness. I am hoping that's all it is as I couldn't get the word 'stroke' out of my mind all night. It was so scary!

I have a Dr appt at 10am and am going to ask if I can have a referral for an early scan next week to make sure it hasn't affected the little bean. Fingers crossed it was just a migraine which shouldn't have!!

I'll pop in later... hope you all have a good morning xx

kkas · 17/09/2010 10:45

crazy! how frightening! really hope your Dr appt goes well today. i'll be thinking of you.

OneOf8 · 17/09/2010 11:53

Fudge, not sure if you will see this before your appointment today, but will be praying for good news - You and your family have hardly left my thoughts recently. anything you ned, please let us know xxx

Crazy, what a horrid experience. How do you feel today? Hope appointment went well, and GP was able to reassure you, but you do need to insist on further test to know what caused this. Not a medically trained person, so not sure if the BP could have caused the heavy head or if the panic caused the increased BP etc so was all a vicious circle of circumstance, but think you would be wise to start the investigations now rather than wait worrying about things.

Worri Yay for no builders! Glad you are happy with the results!

Hi To everyone else ? just a tiny post today, but hope everyone is ok x

crazybutterflylady · 17/09/2010 12:20

Phew... it was an extreme migraine apparently! I feel so relieved; I thought I was having a stroke or something so despite it being horrific, I am pleased it wasn't anything that scary!

oneof8 the GP said she was pretty sure that migraines don't affect the foetus (or embryo as I have now) but said she was going to look into it today and give me a call if she thinks I need a scan or any tests, which was really reassuring. She said because I have a history of migraines she is pretty confident it is down to a surge of early-pregnancy hormones and that I just need rest. She did say if it happens again I definitely shouldn't self-diagnose and should call an ambulance. She was really thorough so I am pretty happy with what she said.

Thanks for your lovely posts, it's really nice to know people are there when you need support... especially in these early days when everything is so low profile!

xx

WorrisomeHeart · 17/09/2010 12:33

Crazy scary stuff, really pleased you're ok! I can't imagine how freaky it must be not being able to speak. Are you able to take any migraine meds when pregnant?

fudge hope today's appointment is ok. Thinking of you and Splodge.

Well, I've had an eventful morning - was luxuriating in my lovely new tub this morning (actually I was having a baking soda bath to try and soothe the itch!) and the phone rang - was the docs, who wanted me to hotfoot it to the MAU at my hosp to get bile salt levels tested as there were some slight issues in the bloods he'd taken. So have had them done and have to go back next Wed to get it all repeated. The M/W said there was probably nothing to get too worried about, but they want to keep monitoring me to make sure the levels don't rise and therefore they'd need to induce me.

On the plus side, got to hear LO's heartbeat again and he's 3/5 engaged so at least things are on the right track.

And surely at some point I can spend the day in my PJ's watching Loose Women like I was planning for mat leave!!! Grin

crazybutterflylady · 17/09/2010 12:39

worrisome I am allowed a paracetamol (!). To be honest I would rather not bother because they don't do much... not worth it!

I am tres jealous of your new tub! Sounds like they are really looking after you and LO which is brilliant... how exciting that ne is nearly engaged. eeeeek! Enjoy Loose Women. I am going home soon and plan to buy Date Night on sky and snuggle up with my duvet till Mr Crazy comes home and cooks my dinner :)

xx

MrsWajs · 17/09/2010 12:45

Oh my goodness crazy I hope you are ok?? Well you know that I do have a medical background but I'm not going to offer suggestions as to what could have been the cause - I'll leave that to your GP. Hope he/she has been helpful and you're feeling much better today.

hobnob wow how exciting for your ELCS to be arranged for Tues!!

worrisome bet your new bathroom is lovely, I loved mine when it was first finished - shame it doesn't stay gleaming and new forever!!

As for me just phoned midwife and have had my scan appt changed from 28th Sept to 21st Sept - a) because don't think DP would have got time off for the 28th (we are both off on holiday next week) and b) to stop me freaking out about lack of symptoms etc etc!! So only 3.5 days to go Grin

Halo and oneof8 I think you both had slightly earlier scans - I will be 11+2 when I have mine done - did you start telling people after that or did you still wait until 12 weeks?? Just curious, although think we will be telling DPs ex afterwards so that we can tell DSS - can't bloody wait for that one!! Confused

MrsWajs · 17/09/2010 12:50

Oh cross posts!!

Crazy I'm glad you're ok, stroke or TIA was the thing I was worrying about for you!! Glad it is nothing like that!

And how frustrating to have your bath interrupted worrisome!! Good they're keeping a close eye on you though.

I just realised that he 21st is DP's birthday as well what a nice treat for him to see his LO for the first time on his birthday!!

crazybutterflylady · 17/09/2010 12:53

Woohooo MrsW that's fab news on the earlier scan... please upload it for us so we can all coo over it! So excited for you!!

The GP didn't say what she thought was the cause, but then none of my GPs ever have in the past and I have had quite strong migraines before with loss of vision. I'd had a stressful day yesterday after a run in with a very rude woman on my way home and then a loud restaurant for dinner so i am putting it down to that but who knows! I am just pleased it's nothing more serious and am hoping it was a one-off.

I had hoped she might send me for an earlier scan but she say she thought it was unneccessary - would you have pushed for it do you think? I do have a private scan booked for 27th so I think knowing that prevented me being too persuasive... they don't know I have that booked though.

xx

crazybutterflylady · 17/09/2010 12:59

cross posts MrsW - again Wink

I actually wrote on a bit of paper for DH 'pins lead - stioke - amblance' because I couldn't get the words out! Couldn't spell anything either - that was meant to be pins and needles! Bless him I thought he was going to pass out poor love.

x

MissFlick · 17/09/2010 13:05

Glad you're ok crazy! You had me worried there. Rest up this weekend.

Great news on the early scan mrsW- I can't wait to hear all about it!

Big waves to all other grads :) Miss you all over on the other side xxx

MrsWajs · 17/09/2010 13:15

crazy I probably wouldn't push too much for an early scan, I suspect you would 'know' if something had gone wrong with LO by now if it was going to and besides the 27th isn't too long to wait for your private one. How far on are you now because if you are 6 weeks or less I think it is quite difficult to tell very much on a scan anyway.

I think DP may also suffer from migraines although he isn't aware of it. He was feeling pretty grotty for a few days last week but couldn't put his finger on it - he had a headache but was also feeling sick and sleepy etc. Then he told me afterwards that he was seeing shooting lights in his eyes which made me think it was probably a migraine. Not sure if I should send him to Drs or not or just wait and see if it happens again. What sort of treatment would they give you for it??
