Hermya321 · 11/10/2010 10:05

Luckyseven I have to be careful reading your posts, you made me spit my tea out over the whole 'DH says she's dead on the inside'. Brilliant!! Jude is a lovely name BTW.

Bunny I've cleaned my house quite a bit as well, I don't know how much more cleaner I can make it.

Worrisome Good luck with your appointment!!

I took DH to work at silly o'clock this morning and was sat in the car feeling a bit odd. I've been back to bed and then got up again and still feel a bit odd. You know that feeling right before you get your period, that achey groggy feeling. It feels like that. It's probably nothing.

I'm going to go strip the beds, it's too lovely a day not to take advantage of hanging them outside. I actually found out yesterday that we have communal drying spaces outside our house which is fabulous. I was so pleased that I went out and bought a packet of pegs.

Oh and I got my free tumble dryer, seriously it's like 10 years older than me. Apparently the couple who I got it off got it off their Grandma. I keep giggling everytime i look at it.

Hermya321 · 11/10/2010 10:38

Oh and whilst I'm here, I don't know if anyone has thought about it. But if you're due in the next few weeks, it might be worth looking into tax credits and getting a claim form ready to fill in for when you have the baby.

OP posts:
WorrisomeHeart · 11/10/2010 13:30

Right update from me.. m/w says he's 3/5 engaged which is an improvement from last week when he'd popped out! She's booking me in for a sweep on the weekend as I'm 39+6 today and she said for first timers it tends to work better after the 40 week mark. And then they'll talk about booking the induction but it won't be any later than the 24th. So at least I have an end date to work too!

Can someone remind me what the chances are of going into labour if he's not fully engaged? I know for second timers that can happen, what do you reckon for a first timer?

haloflo · 11/10/2010 19:18

Evening all!

hobnob Congrats on your beautiful baby girl. I hope the colic passes and your infection clears up soon.

ozzie I hope you are ok and some time away makes you feel stronger.

addie You will have a baby by the end of the week! Hopefully she will come sooner and won't be too big.

worrisome No idea here about going into labour not fully engaged but I hope you aren't waiting too long. You had me all excited over the weekend (as I'm sure you were too!)

hermya Interesting symptoms your way! Still keeping my fingers crossed for an early arrival.

bunny I'm glad I'm not along in worrying about the early second trimester. Hopefully these funny feelings I'm getting is movement but it's hard to imagine the LO inside me, moving around, even though I saw it there on the screen just 6 weeks ago. You pack your hospital bag in the end? Maybe if you make a list and put it next to the bag you won't forget anything you use daily if you leave in a rush. Spring cleaning sounds like hard work. Don't forget to rest as well as nest on ML!

cherry Excellent news about the scan. I think dating early on is a little imprecise. I measured less a bit less than 7 weeks when 7 weeks exactly but gained 3 days by the 12 week scan. I'm afraid I still feel tired at 17 weeks but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I now go to bed at 10pm (instead of 9!) and don't feel sick at all. I don't remember what you do for a living but can you take some annual leave? I found that time off work made me feel much better.

crazyb I don't get a 16 week appointment, only the option of 16 week bloods for downs screening. I've decided against any screening for that so have really been left to my own devices. (Are you low risk too?) I don't think there is much they do at 16 weeks bar a heartbeat check so I don't think we are missing much except reassurance. I think hermya didn't get a 16 week check either but she's NW like me.

super Brill news about the heartbeat - good for your 20 week scan later this week (I stalk read your updates on the March AN thread) Are you going to try and find out the sex?

mumsnerves I can't wait to feel real kicks but have to admit that using your bladder as a football doesn't sound fun. I hope he/she turns soon.

kurly I know it's not long away now but you might find just getting some cheap joggers like these comfy for round the house before your scan. I went for them early on as I disliked any pressure on my stomach from about 8/9 weeks and although I put up with it at work couldn't face it at home too.

lucky That sounds really frightening. I am so glad everything is ok. Names wise, I like both but Jude reminds me of Jude Law and the song Hey Jude. Joel I prefer as I like Joel, Joey, Jo too. Well done for narrowing the names down even if you are stuck on 2, I will be starting my list after my scan but so far DP doesn't seem to like anything!

My dreams go from the rude, weird to mundane! Last night's was about a overpriced rail ticket and me going mad a conductor. Confused I'm guaranteed to dream every night though, sometimes I remember it better than others.

mrsw I hope all goes well tomorrow!

As for me. I am on a countdown to my 20 week scan now as I really want reassurance again. A lady on the March AN thread just suffered a really awful loss (do not read unless you want to cry) and it's reminded me what a scary time pregnancy is. Just 3 weeks, 3 days to wait now.

haloflo · 12/10/2010 13:08

Quiet in here today. I am currently sat at home feeling guiltly after leaving work earlier today ill.

I was tired when I woke up but nothing out of the ordinary then at about half 9 I felt really hot, dizzy, sick and faint. About 10am I left work, went straight to the docs who fit me in at 10.15. They said I was fine & my blood pressure was ok and it was probably just a surge in hormones.

I feel a bit silly now but am still very tired despite dozing from about 11 til 12.

I think i'm going to take this afternoon as a one off as i'm never off work and just relax with a film or tv episodes.

Everyone else ok today?

mrsw Thinking of you, I hope everything is ok.

cherrycobbler · 12/10/2010 13:24

Hello all - just popping to wish mrswajs good luck for your scan today!

flo don't feel guilty - you don't know how rubbish you'd feel if you were still stuck at work and unable to rest up. Relaxing and dozing sound like a good plan, and v impressed by docs fittig you in!

I had my booking in appt on Fri, midwife was nice and thorough if a bit brusque. Took about four pints of blood and I had to lie down afterwards as I thought I was going to throw up (usually don't like blood being taken but am fine). Next appt is 16 weeks' time.

Been feeling really awful the past couple of days and doing lots of throwing up. Its a bit different to how I did feel before so not sure how to deal with it. Think some of the pain is trapped wind (eurgh) so have bought some Windeze in the hope it helps! I thought pregnancy would be a bit about feeling all Mother Earth and beautiful - why didn't anyone warn me I would just feel a bit broken, very sick and very, very unglamorous!

Quick pop in has turned into extended self centred moan! Hope everyone else is well & will catch up properly soon

kurlyvoice · 12/10/2010 16:36

Hi all,

Just popping in to see how you are all doing this week. How was the scan, MrsW?

halo, you stop feeling guilty NOW please. The most important thing is the little person growing inside you at the moment and if that means an afternoon of sofa-loving then so be it. I am now on my sofa watching Masterchef, but then I'm lucky because - even though teaching is a ridiculous job for a pregnant lady - I can at least leave at 3.25 when I need to! Thanks for the joggers link - my home solution at the moment is to walk around the house with my trousers undone, which DH finds hilarious...

Glad you had a nice midwife, cherry, though they can be a bit brusque when they're in a business mode. They do take a lot of blood, don't they?! And mine kept chatting between each vial and left me with the needle in my arm!

Worrisome, sorry that you didn't get an early delivery but glad that there's an end in sight. That's assuming that he hasn't arrived today!

Hey Hermya, how are you doing today? Any more funny feelings? I like the sound of your tumble dryer - it has a history. :) We've got a washer/dryer 2in1 thingy which is good, because it means we have one, but it's not as efficient as the singles and we can only do one load at a time. I do like the outside drying when we can, though - it's a good natural iron!

I did laugh at your bath experience, OneOf8 - everything like that sounds amazing to me and I probably would drop my book in the bath!

bunny, I'm very impressed with your serious cleaning. I can only just do the washing up at the moment, and that takes a lot of sitting down because I get light-headed and feel sick! I look forward to the nesting phase - it would be nice to have a clean house before the LO gets it messy again...

That did sound a bit scary, lucky, but very glad that everything is ok, and that you got to hear the baby's heartbeat for a little while. I like Jude best, partly because I taught an annoying Joel a few years ago (but then teachers are the worst for name associations!) and partly because I love Jude Law. We can't have it because we only have a one syllable surname so need a few on the first name.

Addie, how are you doing today? Sorry that you're going to have to be induced but at least they're not making you wait it out for ages. Are you looking forward to graduating again?

Ozzie, I'm sorry that you're being made to feel bad, just so long as you know that we here are supporting you and most definitely don't judge you for not being able to BF. Hope Tom is doing ok and that you're enjoying mummyhood.

Waves to yorkshire - long time no see. Are you enjoying your maternity leave so far? And hello to pixie and november - thank you for popping in to say hi!

Nothing to report from me - keep getting waves of nausea and tiredness but so long as it is the munchkin saying that it's growing big and strong, I don't mind. Only 2 days until I see it on a screen (though I'm not sure if I'll be able to look...)!

MrsWajs · 12/10/2010 19:17

Hi girls!!

Had my scan this avo and everything is fine although LO is another 3 days behind according to todays measurements!! Not sure how this keeps happening, it's almost a physical impossibility that I'm pregnant at all!!

Anyway can't get my picture on just now but will do it later!x

haloflo · 12/10/2010 19:50

Glad everything is ok mrsw Maybe you keep losing days due to margin's of error? I think the measurements have to be so precise that a tiny bit either way means that you lose or gain days when its not possible!

You got a new EDD now? I hope you enjoy spreading the news officially. Smile

bunnygirl80 · 12/10/2010 23:04

halo don't feel guilty about taking a day off work. Everyone needs a day on the sofa now and again Smile

cherry I think the whole pregnancy making you like mother earth is just a myth portrayed by the media so that the human race continues to reproduce Grin If anyone told us what it's really like, nobody would bother with it!

kurly the reason my house needs so much cleaning now is that I didn't bother at all during the first trimester - I felt sick and dizzy every time I tried to do anything. Good luck with your scan Smile

MrsW glad your scan went well. I wouldn't worry about losing another couple of days - scans are only accurate within a margin of about 5 days, so 3 is probably down to differences in measurement. Enjoy making the news official.

I had the car seat installed yesterday - it's quite surreal seeing it there. Got some washable throws for our sofas as well on the advice of a friend. She recommeded them after spending the first few weeks of her baby's life spot cleaning baby sick/poo off her soft furnishings - much easier to bung a throw in the wash than worry about staining the sofa

WorrisomeHeart · 13/10/2010 08:02

Bah. Still here and no sign of the baby. Am highly cheesed off at now being officially late - although I know others (poor Addie!) have had to wait a lot longer. Had another bout of strong, painful BH's last night and got all excited again, but slept well and nothing this morning. This baby is like the boy who cried wolf - we won't believe it when it actually starts!!!!!

Am starting to think maybe he's expecting a shaft like the one for the Chilean miners to be set up. Sorry, that's flippant - how amazing is the rescue??

Sorry for the rant all - will have a proper catch up later when I'm feeling less cross.

[WH sulks off to find chocolate]

luckyseven · 13/10/2010 08:26

oh worrisome hang in there i am sure it is really frustrating. Was just watching the miners rescue and thought what would i rather do give birth or go in that capsule. Shouldn t have read the birth chapter of the baby book last night. It is amazing what they have been through, not long til you meet your little one!

OneOf8 · 13/10/2010 08:34

Worrisome That made me laugh. Hope you feeling well - despite the "come on now!" feelings

MrsW Glad scan went well. Wouldn't worry about the odd few days. Hope you enjoy sharing the news officially!

Bunny - we have throws in our home as OH is a messy git (so am I but he is worse!) Defiantly easier to keep the living room looking clean by giving them a wash rather than playing "mind the damp bit" after dabbing to spot clean any little accidents! Grin Your house must be sparkling!

Halo as everyone else has said, don't feel bad. If you need the time to rest, you need to take it

Kurly Good luck with the scan in a couple of days! It is really amazing - just was a shock the first time!

Cherry Hope you are feeling better today.

No real update from me - feeling really drained due to lack of sleep thanks to continuous toilet trips.

I know once the baby arrives I will still need to get up in the night, but at least I can share the responsibility - OH cant take it in turns to go to the toilet for me!

Hope everyone else is well xx

OneOf8 · 13/10/2010 10:25

Just having a tea break so thought I'd pop in to see if any babies had popped out Wink

Kurly although the scan is amazing, the reference was to the random limb poking out the side!

crazybutterflylady · 13/10/2010 11:53

Hi all! Hope you are all well!

hobnob many congrats on your new arrival, love the name! I hope you're enjoying being a mummy so far, despite the colic. Have you thought about cranial osteopathy? I told my SIL about it when she had her baby this year and after a couple of sessions the colic went. The theory is that during the birth the baby's spinal alignment goes a bit haywire and the colic symptoms are just discomfort - have a google.

mrsw hurrah! Congrats on the scan, lovely to hear the little one is all ok. Can;t wait to see the pic Grin

ozzie sorry to hear you're feeling pressurised... I think the whole issue is such a sensitive one and extremely individual. Sometimes no thought is given to those who are physically unable to BF which is really sad. I hope you are ok xx

addie good luck, can't wait to hear from you!

worrisome deep breaths! Not long now... enjoy this time when you can please yourself and sleep when you like :) you won't have it again for some time!! Your miners comment made me chuckle Grin

hermya not long for you either, it's so exciting, there are so many little frolicking ones due! :)

bunny I was pleased to hear I am not the only one not doing any cleaning during my first trimester. Poor Mr Crazy is working v hard at the moment then coming home to be a domestic god! I have actually just arranged for a cleaner to start once a week - would rather go without a takeaway or something and have that little luxury!

halo so sorry to hear about your little episode :( I hope you are feeling better today and have your feet firmly up! I was off yesterday because I was feeling so rubbish... still am today but felt guilty taking time off (ridiculous really). I haven't had my 12 week scan yet so I am not sure what risk I am for DS. I just wanted another check up dammit :) haha. My SIL seemed surprised I didn't get one so I thought I would check what the norm is. Also - I wondered about the dental care thing... what do you do to get it?!

cherry glad your MW appt went well. I forgot to warn you about the bloods, sorry!! Really sorry to hear you're actually vomiting too, I did a bit of heaving this morning and it wasn't pleasant so I really feel for you. Hopefully we only have a couple of weeks of this left!

lucky I love Jude! Joel is nice too but I think Jude sounds better in your accent ;) haha. Friends of ours have just had a little girl and called her Silvia... lovely but they are both Mancunian and I think it sounds funny in their accent :) so I know exactly what you mean!!

kurly sorry to hear you're feeling a bit tired too but I love your positivity! I second halo - get some loose joggers for round the house. I wear yoga trousers with no waistband or failing that, Mr Crazy's tracksuit bottoms (although he is a foot taller than me so there is a slight tripping risk!)

Hi to anyone I have missed, have been lurking the last few days but am keeping up with you all :)

xx

superpenguin · 13/10/2010 15:19

hello all!
hermya and worrisome - any more news?
addie good luck tomorrow!

lucky how scary to have to go to hospital! but I think the message I take from that is 'don't worry as it turned out all fine!'.
By the way I love a northern irish accent! Anyway, love both names Joel and Jude but I think Joel gets my vote!

oneof8 I can't believe it never occured to me what 'oneof8' meant before now - preg brain me! exciting to hear about visible movement!

haloflo please don't feel guilty. You are entitled to be at home if not feeling well!

cherry sorry to hear you're feeling sick. It will get better!

MrsW glad to hear your scan went well.

Hi to everyone else!

I have felt very little and nothing definite in the way of movement still but I do get little feelings occasionally that are probably the baby!
Scan is on friday and yes we are hoping to find out the gender then.
Not much else to report!

MrsWajs · 13/10/2010 18:38

Woo - got a scan picture on finally girls!!x

haloflo · 13/10/2010 20:25

mrsw Thats so cute!!

crazy I'd say don't feel guilty for time off but then I'd be a hypocrite! But seriously focus on you, work will wait and will understand. I went back to work today and everyone was really sweet and full of concern. As will your collegues when you reveal all!

To answer your question, my MW offered me the free dental care card and prescription card at my original 9 week appointment but then found she didn't have any left. I forgot to remind her at my 12 week booking in so need to remember at my next appointment which is at 21 weeks. Not that they are much use to me as my dentist went private years ago and i'm not on any medication but I still want them!! I forget - have you had your bloods done yet? You could ask then? Otherwise phone up because I was offered them early and if you need a check up then you shouldn't have to pay.

You could also ring up about the 16 week appointment? oneof8 advised me to but since finding out hermya & several friends haven't had them near me I'm not too bothered.

Love the idea of wearing your DH's trackies! Unfortunatly mine has quite a skinny waist so they were just as tight as my own.

worrisome Your poor thing, I hope its not much longer. And rant away, that's what we are here for!

superpengiun All the best for Friday - let us know how it goes. I'm hoping the baby doesn't cross it's legs!

hermya Where are you?

I am feeling much better today. Thanks all for being nice. Smile

WorrisomeHeart · 14/10/2010 07:41

Still no baby. Still fed up. Still, have chocolate and bad movies so day is not complete washout. Grin

Have a good day you guys! (and addie best of luck for today hun!)

Hermya321 · 14/10/2010 09:14

Nope still no baby here either, just lots of cramping and baby teasing me with possible signs.

As for me today, I'm going to be going to Lakeland to buy random kitchen stuff. Yep, I am indeed living the high life Grin.

Worrisome Sorry you're so fed up at the momnet.

Addie Good luck today!!

Halo I'm glad you're feeling better.

Super Ooooo scan on Friday, thats so exciting!! I can't wait to hear what make and model you're having.

Cherry I'm glad your booking in appointment went well, don't forget about the pregnancy pee mountain that the NHS seems to be so intent on collecting these days.

MrsW Lovely scan picture, did you enjoy seeing your LO?

OP posts:
crazybutterflylady · 14/10/2010 09:40

MrsW wow! Grin what a gorgeous baby :) xx

kurlyvoice · 14/10/2010 10:53

MrsW, can I just skip to the having-a-lovely-picture-just-like-yours stage right now please? Then I can stop bricking it for the munchkin and me. Why is this so scary? I have no signs that there's anything wrong, but still I am worried as hell...

Confused Think positive thoughts, girls - I need you today! Appointment at 2pm... Then I will stop being selfish.

WorrisomeHeart · 14/10/2010 11:47

Good luck kurly - all will be fab!!

haloflo · 14/10/2010 12:45

kurly thinking of you, i know how you feel. Positive thoughts being sent your way all afternoon.

luckyseven · 14/10/2010 13:00

good luck kurly and hermya snap I am on my way to Lakeland to buy a gingerbread man cutter for my afternoon of fun with my 2 year old niece!
