cos That midwife sounds ace! That sounds like a totally sensible plan. Well done and boo hiss to the doctor from last week.
(You can share names with me by email if you like, and I'll go 'Oh I never liked that one!' and we'll have a little snigger together.Wink)

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 02/09/2010 17:10

Hi ladies! Another hectic day of lunching for me! And some practice at hanging out in a playground as friend brought toddler.

Gin yay for gp and ginbaby heartbeat!

Cos yay for sensible midwife!

Yay for pretty dresses and huge bumps and alt therapies and....oh...just everything

rollerbaby · 02/09/2010 17:56

cos that sounds very reassuring. Sit tight, baybee will be here when he or she is ready.

vag I have ML envy. Btw your babyshower looked luverly and you do not look anywhere near mahousive.

gin not sure of full tale but horrible to have had bad stomach upset on hols. Hope was not total write off? Glad all ok though.

twitty I have yet to have a BH so can't vouch for what you say. Although it does get very uncomfy when I walk too much. PArticularly after massive fish and chip lunch with pudding. :)

okie let's get a video and do it in front of tv (maybe with cup of tea and biscuit on the go).

OkieCokie · 02/09/2010 18:05

Moo video and do what in front of TV??

rollerbaby · 02/09/2010 18:29

ha ha - yoga! God I'm so ancient, I should say DVD.

I did once buy the Geri Halliwell yoga video in the days when she was semi anorexic. I suspect that this would not be suitable for my current physique.

Dog and husband are asleep. I think dog has enjoyed holiday more than anyone with virtually his own beach, giant sandbank and flock of seagulls to chase. Clapham Common will be v v boring indeed after this. Boo hoo for going home although no bed like home as Judy Garland once said.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 02/09/2010 18:46

Ah bless you honey - think you need a profile shot to see full extent of hugeness! Clint is still wiggling though so more growing space left I suspect (argh). We played the "guess the bump size" game and bar none everyone thought I was bigger. They tried to tell me it was proof I wasn't as big as I thought...but I pointed out it actually meant I wasn't as big as they thought.

Have you and okes looked at Battersea Yoga? Y'is what I did, thought was good, and my class started at 6.30 on a Monday.

Missed about ginny's tummy bug, hope you are ok now, lovey, and not worrying yourself too much (though can understand why). Even getting preggo doesn't relieve the menkul, and I think it was you who told me to get used to it as parenthood is the same.

Now must go comfort-rock for a while, do excuse me.

Backinthebox · 02/09/2010 20:13

Vag, I'm sorry to have to disagree with you, but I looked at your piccies too and thought 'how neat.' I look like a flipping whale!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 02/09/2010 20:19

Oh you are all lovely!

rollerbaby · 02/09/2010 21:08

vaggie I did look exactly there funnily enough as they do weds night from this week, nice and near my house, but typically clashes with hippobirthing class. So, will find somewhere intensive in last few weeks once on ML. Better late than never surely. Maybe I can get a yogi to come and move in with us, that'll shit up mr moo.

FP Smile would be slightly disastrous to concuss myself whilst trying to flip baby at the 11th hour. Maybe handstands in local pool might be a safer option. Still no idea how I am supposed to tell which way up the little blighter is.

RunLyraRun · 02/09/2010 21:15

Hello I have come for a little visit. You are all very wise and interesting.

Vagelina, I too thought you looked great on your baby shower pics - all bump, innit.

Cos and Gin - has been a good day for both of you, am glad :)

MrsFC · 02/09/2010 21:18

Hi honey, I have been thinking about hypnobirthing - what is it like? Can you do it alone? I really think the FC would rather eat his own leg that do it with me you see...

OkieCokie · 02/09/2010 21:29

I think I like being wise and interesting

Can someone tell me if it is normal to feel out of breath just sitting on the sofa, could the little blighter be squashing my lungs that much??

MrsFC · 02/09/2010 21:34

Hi okie, I'm only 19 weeks and so not at the out of breath on the sofa stage, but I certainly get out of breath just walking and strolling!!

Casserole · 02/09/2010 21:36

Okie I definitely remember feeling that last time around. Is that comforting or not? I have no idea. Hope so Confused

Casserole · 02/09/2010 21:37

ps it doesn't mean you'll feel that way for the rest of the time. Probably just means the little blighter's having a good stand up tonight or summat.

rollerbaby · 02/09/2010 21:39

Hello MrsFC I can't obviously speak from post birth experience, but I know people personally and also iggy and cunty who used the techniques and found it really useful. Mr Moo was a bit Hmm about it - not very vocally mind, but just didn't really appreciate why you might want to do it. Having done one lesson now, he completely gets it and we left both feeling really positive and I know that he's behind me in the homebirth decision. We have wavered alot in the last few months, but hopefully being relaxed and at home with mr moo and doula will lead to a straightforward birth. Who frankly fucking knows though, and I'm practical enough to realise it could all go out the window.

The CD and breathing is my homework this week and I swear to god it works, I fall asleep and wake up at exactly the same point on the disk every time. The idea is that you condition your mind into relaxing so much when you listen to it that when D day comes you will slip into the same state. That, we will see!

As far as Mr FC goes, surely whatever you want and will find useful is what matters? I would explore all the things that appeal to you and you think might be up your strasse and tell him what's what! He might surprise you given time. Are you in London? Happy to give you details if you'd like. The teacher seems amazing. She's like a wise woman who has been doing this for 30 years. Am invited to a pre and post birth ocffee morning in a few weeks so will be nice to meet people who have used her classes and get the full low down...

Sorry for long waffle.

rollerbaby · 02/09/2010 21:42

okie I get out of breath talking!!! Mind you god knows what that says about me. we got caught in a rain shower down here the other day and had to walk very quickly for about 10 minutes to car. I swear to god I thought I'd given myself a hernia I was so out of breath.

Medee · 02/09/2010 21:57

have just, finally, gone public on FB. I really hope I am not, to someone, that "friend" with her latest upduffedness announcement.

OkieCokie · 02/09/2010 21:58

Walking and talking totally leave me breathless but breathless from just sitting??! Well I am, so therefore it is another pregnancy condition....

Do you think a one day intensive yoga class/yoga birth prep class will do me then? Don't really want to commit to a weekly evening thing. Checked out Battersea Yoga Vag and the new course starts on Monday and I will have to miss the first class as I have to travel to Germany for work, last trip then I am grounding myself.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 02/09/2010 22:11

Hi lovely Lyra, lovely to see you! Xx

SilverSky · 02/09/2010 22:49

I can barely manage up the three flights of stairs to my desk without grinding to a halt by the end! I have been told to use the lift but that is probably because they have to form an orderly queue behind as there is no room too overtake me!

Those of you with mutts - anyone noticed a change in behaviour? Our dawg has gone all cryey when Him Indoors leaves the room and dawg is off it's grub. The not eating does not concern me cos I am from the school of hard knocks in that if it don't get eaten it gets served at the next meal. Trouble is tonight grub was tripe! Anyhoos Him Indoors coaxed mutt to eat it all. Thinking about it perhaps mutt is getting own back as I made a bodge job of removing a tick - left the head behind!!! Sheesh!! managed to retrieve the head. Eventually. So do we think mutt is just going thru a phase or do you think mutt senses changes ahead!?

box I can only wear leggings if my top reaches the back of my knees cisnthst is virtually where my ass finishes. Sexy momma I am not!!

SilverSky · 02/09/2010 22:53

ginny hopes you iz better. I missed what happened but I am thinking dicky tum whilst away?

mrsFC plz to tell FC plz?

Only 12 days left at work. Not that I am counting. Like fuck I am not!!!!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 03/09/2010 07:36

I agree with boxer, VAG you have a very tidy bump and you don't look heffalumpish at all - you look absolutely gorgeous!

honey Very wise about being practical about it. When push comes to shove only a real arsehole is going to say "no, I don't care if my baybee's hearbeat is dropping - I want to give birth in my living room lavender field with my diptique candles"! It's nice to have a "birth plan" but imho it puts unecessary pressure on the whole caboodle. Plan is to get a healthy mum & baby. Fuck the incense & whale music. If it goes easily well then obviously that's wonderful - but when you hear of people having a 20 page birth plan I have to wonder if maybe they should've stayed at the office longer to keep themselves occupied! It can only lead to disappointment. :(

medee You can't hide your life because it might offend or upset others. This is an absolutely wonderful thing going on in your life - and you don't have to justify it to ANYONE - no matter how distraught or unhappy your news may make them feel. What are you going to do? Hide it in a coal bunker? Wink If you won a Mercedes would you keep it a secret because a girl you went to uni with is driving a 20 year old rust-bucket?

lyra Your holiday photos are stunning - you really are a beauty!

ginhag · 03/09/2010 08:30

cos that is excellent news. Really glad you are getting some support, it makes all the difference! If it's any help, the only reason they thought best to induce me was because when they gave me a scan at about 12 or 13 days over to check all was well I had virtually no fluid at all. As I was certain that my waters hadn't broken or leaked this pointed to a prob with the placenta... What I mean is they didn't just insist due to the date, they had said if scan all fine they were happy to wait a bit longer...

lyra lovely to see you. Will try n catch up properly!

everyone cheers for nice words re hideous bug. We still had great hol, last few days the shits started but it has been the weirdest illness. Not like normal raging food poisoning but more like just never being able to actually digest food properly and instead doing explody watery poos (never tmi round here of course Grin) and feeling knackered. Fits the profile of the giardia parasite... Poor mr gin has had only one almost normal poo in over 2 weeks! And he has a stomach of steel. I seem to have improved which is good!

Yay to nice dresses! I had a meeting yesterday and realised I can't do any of my 'proper' work clothes up (I don't have to do the smart thing unless I have meetings. Don't even wear shoes in the office.) I do seem to have a strangely large bump for just under 15 weeks.

MIL arriving at midday and the house is a shit tip. AIBU to check into a hotel?

Bollocks I had more name checking to do but my mind has gone totally blank. Smooches and headbutts all round.

ginhag · 03/09/2010 08:32

(by the way for some reason I have visions of box and mr box playing 'wheelbarrow races' in order to get baby to turn. Which is quite odd)
