OkieCokie · 20/09/2010 20:46

Congrats Clucky boys are great! Pol I don't know the sex either. Bloody hard not knowing but I like surprises! Unlike Silver we are more sure on boys names and are having a problem with girls names.

Moo how about putting together a photo book? I am doing this for my Dad's 70th (another job for mat leave) and have secretly been raiding their photo archives to get all the pictures together. In addition, a night away somewhere would be nice or a posh meal, sorry I am lacking inspiration atm.

Muser · 20/09/2010 20:55

We are not finding out sex as I really want to find out at the birth. I like the extra surprise.

moo I like the photobook idea. You could get them a night in a nice b&b/hotel. I recommend the Mr&Mrs Smith website for fancy ones. If brother chipped in too you could buy them dinner as well.

Or, if you want something a bit different, may I present DIGGERLAND. Who couldn't love it?

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 20/09/2010 21:12

Sorry to butt in. I had a gift voucher for Diggerland once. It was feckin ace.

rollerbaby · 20/09/2010 21:12

Photobook is genius idea. Only trouble is I've left it a bit late now... will investigate tho.

Other Diggerland - perfect. Why did I not think of that?

If my husband loved me he would buy me Malteasers NOW right?

Muser · 20/09/2010 21:15

I have never been to Diggerland but really want to go.

I forgot to report yesterday. Got a call from my brother, he and SIL had gone through their baby stuff and created a list. Which he proceeded to read out to me to check what I wanted. So that's moses basket & stand, blankets, bumbo seat, baby gym, grobags, highchair, bouncy chair thing, and assorted newborn clothes sorted. And best thing is they will keep it all in their loft until needed. Which in the case of the highchair will be quite a while!

rottyboomboom thanks for letting me know. Don't fret. Just one of those things. Going to buy one online today. Can anyone reco a website or a type?? I must get one asap as I am going insane and in fact prefer being at work cos I can't get comfy at home.

Three bloody comfort breaks last night! My left leg has gone dead. Can't get the cushion in the right positions and still ending up on my blinking back. Bet your bottom dollar all my OFP work I do during the day is undone at night!!!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 21/09/2010 07:50

Congratulations Kate! Another PESH boy - we're breeding an army here.

moo I think it's pretty much a done deal - I mean we were given a photo of his bits - would've been a very unfortunate girl had she been born with the penis we were shown...

I spent my last few weeks wearing a maxi dress at home (inappropriate for office) and under-the-bump maternity jeans at the office (perhaps also inappropriate? Wink). Tummy went down immediately - arse still there. Hmm

ginhag · 21/09/2010 08:31

Congrats kate!

We realised that we will have to have a girl this time as we are totally stumped for boys' names! We will find out if baybee chooses to co operate at scan but don't really have preference...

When we found out with mooch it was very definite, he was proudly displaying his babybollocks and the sonographer said there was little doubt! However it is true that they don't always get it right. Which would be very weird!

We have estate agents coming round to value our house. Any tips on disguising the fact that half our bathroom floor is ripped up and the bath is falling out? Maybe some casually placed fluffy towels?

rollerbaby · 21/09/2010 09:05

muser that is fantastic, you will save a frigging fortune! And the best bit is you can give it all back when it's finished cluttering up your hoose.

silver ditto on everything last night. Pillows everywhere and STILL end up on back! What is the point I ask you? I also have the pleasant sensation of feeling like my fanjo has swelled up. WTF is that about pleeze?

ski maxi dress excellent idea, sadly it is getting cold now. I fear I may be found by midwives wrapped in a duvet before long.

gin say your interior designer is due over an hour later perhaps? I'm sure the pungent scent of coffee and baking bread will reassure them...

off to hippobirthing coffee morning to find out what the hell other people have done. Practised birthing prompts with husbo last night. We need to do ALOT more practise, as he feels like a right twunt saying half this stuff. (E.g. breathe peace and love down through your body). Fair enough when it's some 60 year old female guru but I can understand his point. It also makes me laugh which isn't quite the desired effect.

Muser · 21/09/2010 09:32

I don't think they'll want it back honeymoo. Their baby days are all behind them now. They are probably very glad to be freeing up the loft space.

Silver I got ball off that ebay place. Came pretty quickly, brand new and very reasonably priced.

Muse family are great. I even got cot from my brother which saved us a fortune.

rollerbaby · 21/09/2010 09:43

Bah I wish I had an older sibling. My ickle bro is going to be 7 months behind us and considerably richer!!!

OFf for leisurely bath now. Oh I wish I could be on mat leave now and fast forward to next Thursday. Not long I know.

OkieCokie · 21/09/2010 12:25

Tis very quiet round these parts. I was hoping to be distracted from work. Vag can't you lay a baby or something??

RunLyraRun · 21/09/2010 12:51

Drom - Cowley Manor.

SilverSky · 21/09/2010 13:09

Congrats kateishavingaboy!!!

okie I shall have a surf on that there place you call eBay.

Now tell me PESHs is it bad if you have started scoffing the snacks meant for your hossie bag?

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 21/09/2010 16:43

Yay for CluckyBoy!

No baybee here. This waiting lark sucks. Though I have now completed my birth plan and packed my bag....better late than never, right? I have also given myself the willies by googling "cervical sweep". I don't want one. They sound nasty.

You have to sample the snacks you are taking in your hospital bag, otherwise how will you know if you like them/if they are off etc?

Is v quiet in these parts today.

OkieCokie · 21/09/2010 16:57

Vag are you still in De Nile?

I have been moaning it is too quiet here today. I have even had to do some work

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 21/09/2010 17:14

Oaks Yup, still in De Nile, but also slightly bored with weird "life on pause" stage. Can't do much, can't comfortably sit around. Boo. I only have boring chores left to do now too.

Silver I got ball from TKMaxx. Find it great for loosening back up a bit. Just did some ironing while sitting on it watching Morse. Rock and (almost literally) roll.

SilverSky · 21/09/2010 20:16

vag that soooo made me chuckle!! Loving the rocking and rolling! I am not enjoying not being comfortable. It bloody sucks. Seems there is no respite. I can't find anywhere to get comfy so am hoping preggo ball will be my saviour. Pleased to hear that you have only just packed your bag. HI is nagging me like an ole fishwife.

Looks like I will have to replace the snacks. Hopefully can keep my mitts off the replacements.

For other bum grape sufferers moist loo roll will become your new best friend.

organiccarrotcake · 21/09/2010 21:46

polpol aktulee no - we had to buy tap thing as we have odd tap, and we happened to have a new hosepipe so we used that. Sorry!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 22/09/2010 08:02

VAG I believe I have you down for tomorrow. Good to hear you've actually packed a bag though - sounds like you have accepted you're pregnant. As for the sweeps, have heard differing stories - e.g., curly's mate had FOUR and they didn't trouble her at all... although her waters did break in the supermarket...

As for all the cash spenders, so much you buy will be redundant - however, you'll only know this once you've bought it. But you really don't need to go mad. IKEA's 11 quid baby chair is consistently rated "top" - it's plastic and completely wipe down. All this beautiful soft fabric stuff is... beautiful - but a buggery to keep clean. You need stuff that's going to be easily washable/wipeable. Some expensive stuff is really great - some of it is a big fucking con. Ebay is your friend. Why spend 4 quid a pop on a changing tray cover when 29p towels will do exactly the same job.

rollerbaby · 22/09/2010 08:37

ski I have followed your advice on this and bought armfuls of 50p handtowels from ikea. Only trouble is they are grey and look like they have been in use since 1974. The only really pricey thing we have bought is the stokke cot but that will last years I hope as it grows into a bed. We also got pine drawers that can be painted and used forever!

okie last hippo sesh tonight. Will join you doing yogic stuff next weds if you haven't got fed up that is.

Beeeeautiful day. vag get a move on luv.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 22/09/2010 08:51

honey Just for you : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1046289-Cat-lying-on-my-pregnant-tummy-bad-idea

The Stokke cot is gorgeous - the only other expensive thing I've yearned for is this: ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-20581637076693_2113_3969023 - it comes in at around 330 euros, but does as a baby cradle/sitter for day time and will fit until the child is around 5 years old. It goes up and down the pole oooer so you can have the child sitting at waist height so they get a good view (totally tiltable of course) and is also a feeding table. I may still get it... although how I can slip it past jailbait I don't know - he knows how much it is and has already expressed his disgust. It's also wipeable/washable.

MrsFC · 22/09/2010 09:53

Congratulations Kate - bit slow off the mark there sorry! Another boy!

muse, how is work going - are you settling back in or are you still counting the days...?

honey, I bought this for my Mum's 50th - she really liked it. www.ultimategifts.co.uk/rent_a_row_of_vines_buy_now.htm

Talking of gifts - do any of you have an iPad? Is it still as wonderful as when you first got it? Because it's a biggish birthday this year & I'm thinking of asking for one, but wondering if that's a bit silly & whether I should just ask for jewels instead... But I thought it looked the ideal thing to play with while BFing in the middle of the night...

ski - I love love love that chair. It was either the £10 Ikea one (which can go in the dishwasher!!!) or the Tripp Trapp, but that one is so gorgeous. I think I might have to forget I've ever seen it though as like you, slipping it past the FC could be a bit tricky..!

carrots, thank you so much in advance! And I'm already trying out the line 'MiniFC is SO lucky to have you as a big brother', and it's going down a treat - brilliant idea, so thanks for that too!

I feel a bit naughthy this morning as I duped my boss a bit. I'm only at work for another 9 weeks, but I work up four - yes FOUR flights of very steep stairs. I normally have to stop at least twice on the way up. But this morning I didn't stop on purpose meaning I came in all out of breath. I then collapsed in his office and asked if I could have an office downstairs. The thing is that I don't mind the stairs really, but I DO mind him & thought this could mean I could get away from him... Ooops!
