Arrgghhh - how many weeks are you muse? I think I wouldn't want to cancel if i were you. Will get harder to get away as time goes on... Maybe talk to doc when you see him/her and ask for a medicial opinion?

Muser · 10/09/2010 10:56

I am 16 weeks on Sunday. I'm sure the holiday will help. I'm always better on weekends, so stands to a reason a whole week off would be even better. And I've never been as sick as I was yesterday. Plus I have the drugz now.

muser my parents live on a tiny greek island - they have a very good doctor who speakens zi english innit, so I am assuming there will be similar services where you are going - have you booked via thomas cook or something? If you have a rep out there you can talk to you need to see doctor that'll help, and hotel receptionists are usually pretty accomodating.

reginaMonologue · 10/09/2010 11:00

hotel receptionists are usually pretty accomodating.

Of course, I mean accomodating in the sort of way where they'll ring a doctor for you - not any other kind of dubious behaviour Wink.

Muser · 10/09/2010 11:31

We're going independent so no reps. But the lady who runs the hotel has been corresponding in English, so I'm sure she can translate in an emergency. And "I'm pregnant and throwing up a lot" is the kind of thing you can easily communicate in International Wavey Hand language.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 10/09/2010 11:33

muser I hope the Cyclizine starts working lovely and quickly for you. I'd go tbh, I'd phone the insurance company pretending to be a bit of a "div" and say something like "my husband booked the insurance and I can't remember if my pregnancy is covered or not and with all these stories in the newspapers I'm having a panic". I'd not mention anything about your ms or threatened hospitalisation - that will probably be excluded if you mention it... Hmm Then go, and relax. Speak to the rep as soon as you can about a good local doctor. Keep hydrated - but then tbf, given your colouring I doubt very much you were planning to cook yourself! Get organised at the airport so you have fluid on the plane - a feckin' palava if Heathrow is anything like Schiphol these days...

We didn't do announcement cards even though they're very much the norm here - I mean who would we send them to? Confused Sent cards to the midwives, the labour ward and the neonatal ward to say a special thank you but everyone else was either told personally or via zer internet.

reginaMonologue · 10/09/2010 11:34

muser ooh i know what you mean - I had to International Wavey Hand Lanaguage to try and explain to a 60 year old male greek pharmacist that I had thrush - things got more complicated when I had to explain it was external not internal.... Blush

Muser · 10/09/2010 12:10

Insurance covers me for being pregnant, so that's ok.

No puking yet. I have even managed to eat some food. I will go on holiday!

SilverSky · 10/09/2010 12:18

Oh muser I haz everyfing crossed that you have your hols. I agree with the others. I always felt a lot worse at work. Even now at nearly 35 weeks. Think it's cos you are confined. < worries peeps will think am working in a padded cell >

Today I shall mostly be at home waiting for deliveries. Great use of a day out of the orifice. Not.

On plus side I have already seen to neddy and had a pedicure. Finally have good feet again!

vagyouarebirthingnextkiddo I am the fellow bum grape sufferer. Mw said not to worry and if they get painful to then see gp. Butt feels much better today. Moist toilet wipes are helping. Tho attending that area in general is quite tricky.

Will spy on LadyGaGa in Palais. Hope all is ok.

Headbanger · 10/09/2010 13:06

Just dropping by to schmooze Muse. Sorry you're suffering, lady Sad. Hope you get to your much-deserved holibobs.

OkieCokie · 10/09/2010 13:07

Muse a good old holiday is probably what you need. A lot of rest and plenty of time to drink plenty of water (I sometimes am too busy at work to even walk to the water cooler and fill up my bottle!)

rollerbaby · 10/09/2010 13:28

muse I'm so glad you're off on hols. hope you enjoy and get lots of rest...

vag yep still waiting for gd results. Chased today but can't get through to anyone, so no doubt will still be on tenterhooks all weekend. How are you feeling? Are you managing to sleep ok at night?

silver how's doglet. Had a thought for you. Ours is a bit fussy about eating (always has been) and sometimes will only do it when we are a) in the room b) also eating unless he's starving. could you try that maybe? Another thing is when we put something yummy in with his normal food - mackerel or scrambled egg he eats the whole lot up.

What's up with Gaga? off to look...

Casserole · 10/09/2010 13:30

Muse I reckon lots of sleep and general laying around will do the trick. Esp now you have the Cyclizine (May They Be Praised). Keep drinking though. And anything like juice, coke, lucozade etc will get some glucose into you quicker than water, so try and have something like that if you can face it.

Have also managed to have some lunch and keep it down, and am now feeling much more human.

PollyPoo · 10/09/2010 13:38

Muse I hope you get to go on your holiday, I'm sure it will do you the world of good. As long as your insurance cover is good, I say go for it.

Hmmm... moving. Slightly more complicated now. We have viewing tomorrow at 10.15 but there is another family looking at it first. They are very keen and may sweep it away from us before we even get to view again. The fly in the ointment (for all of us) is that the house is not available until the end of Nov. When I will be approaching 37 weeks. BTW look here if interested. It is a lovely house and has same no of bedrooms as our place, but has an extra reception room (play room), AND a 3 room officey thing at top of garden with interweb connection (i.e. lots of room for all of TG's crap/hobby stuff/work office). In fact, if we put the futon up there I will never see him...

Anyway, am I insane for even contemplating moving at 37 weeks? Am also worried that house move, new sibling and new preschool would be too much for Boo. Don't want her to start off with new bub on wrong footing. We could delay her move to new preschool until Easter, bit of a drive for me but worth it if it helps her. Obv we would have to get help with the moving... no DIY this time. And I'm sure family and friends would muck in.

Anyway I should stop thinking about it, as it may not even be our choice anyway... GAH!

PollyPoo · 10/09/2010 13:48

Oh yeah... meant to say that the other family interested in the house are completing on the sale of their house in 2 weeks, so would need to find temp accommodation for 2 months, so not ideal in that respect, so all is not quite lost.

OkieCokie · 10/09/2010 13:51

Pol go for it - you are clearly very much in love with this place (which looks fab!) . Nowt wrong with moving at 37 weeks IMO. Kids are also pretty adaptable I think. I think the time to worry about changing schools is 11+.

Can you call and see if you can view first?

MrsFC · 10/09/2010 13:51

Laughing at your international translation of pregnant pukey lady muse! I like ski's advice about calling the insurance company & locating a good doc when you get there. Great that you have finally been able to keep food down - sounds like rest is as good a cure as any so far...

Got back from the scan an hour or so ago. All is well and it's a BOY! Hurrah! I feel like I can finally relax now! I think he's pretty big though, the scan report puts BPD (I think thats the head, right?) at 55.0mm and the BPD/FL (something to do with the legs?) at 1.67. Anyway - they are kind of off the scale of the little graph thing they do... Anywho, the boy child from the exH was 9.5lbs, so I was kind of expecting it...! I don't think we'll ever be able to live in a lovely cottage - too many low ceilings and too many tall boys in my future!

The FC seems better today, but the redundancy thing seems certain. He was expecting it - in fact he'd done the report recommending it after a recent merger meant there were two people in his position. It's just that they are really trying to stitch him up over the money, and it seems unfair after his many years of unfailing loyalty. Ho hum. He has started looking at jobs today - so if anyone knows of any accountant/Finance roles in London or the Home Counties please let me know!

Anyway - I think the scan really cheered him up, and he seems much more positive. OMG, I am actually having a BABEEE!!!!!

PollyPoo · 10/09/2010 14:01

Okes we are going to see it tomorrow (having seen it twice a year ago... I fell in love with it and TG said we could move, and then changed his mind. I was so grrrr Angry)

I reckon better to move before no2 comes out than after. Although this place looks very cottagy and small, TG has no probs with the ceiling height and he is 6'8" (TG stands for the The Giant). There is a beam or two in the kitchen where the tips of his hair skimmed the lower edge if I remember rightly, but he said it was fine. We'll see...

MrsFC congrats on the boy! Brilliant news!

OkieCokie · 10/09/2010 14:02

Wonderful scan news MrsFC and surely there are lots of jobs for mathematical types out there? If he was a budding artist or classical musician I would be slightly more worried..

SilverSky · 10/09/2010 14:09

MrsFC huzzah for the boy baybee! Bummer on the job front. I lost mine last year but the delights of the local job centre kept me afloat - not. Horrid germ infested place.

pols will nosey at your linky in momento then I must walk the dawg.

Honey I have to confess that the other day I gave the dog brekkie only and didnt bother with offering dinner. Seemed to have done the trick. So far.

MrsFC · 10/09/2010 14:16

Polster, good luck with persuading TG about the cottage tomorrow. Maybe he's forgotten just how lovely it is and will change his mind this time. He OWES you. (Not sure for what - but they normally owe us for something...). And 6'8"? Crickey. And I thought the FC was tall... how tall are you? At 5'10" I used to get very upset because all the lovely tall boys would end up with these teeny tiny waif like fairys and it seemed so unfair when they could have their pick of anyone!

Make sure he wears his flattest shoes to the viewing to eliminate any possible chance of head bumping and crossness...

OkieCokie · 10/09/2010 14:21

6'8"??? That is massive. I am 5'2". Is it true what the say about tall men??!

Muser · 10/09/2010 14:33

Hooray for boys!

OP posts:
PollyPoo · 10/09/2010 14:34

Lets just say he is in proportion Okes. Wink I'm 5'10" too FC and also used to get really annoyed when vey short girls made off with all the tall men! I never had a problem going out with shorter men, but they always seemed to develop a problem with my height - think I made them feel inferior. Was quite loud shouty and feisty in my younger days, so add that to the height... well you can imagine.

This time it is TG that is driving the move - I told him on Sunday that I'd had an email from the agents and 'MY' house was up for rent again. Then I just dropped it. He waited until this morning to tell me he'd been mulling it over and wanted to see it again. Due to the fannying about last time though, I am trying not to get hopes up.

We live in barn conversion at the mo, and have done for 6 years. All very peaceful, tiny hamlet (bit lonely when you are home with child). Now the barns next to us (and I mean within feet of ours at one corner) are being developed and we will be overlooked at all angles. Add in the noise of development and builders dust etc and it is not making for a very peaceful home at mo. Plus we have crappy garden at front of house (only door is at the back in courtyard with path round to the side) with meadow-type lawn and the old village school in the grounds. We get random people wandering in and out of our garden to look at the old school and they let the fecking dog out. Drives me nuts. Plus the postie always drives at about 30mph up our lawn... I dread to think what would happen if the dog or Boo happened to be out there at the wrong time. Fucking fucker. Would be so nice to have a proper enclosed garden where kids/dogs would be safe.

Anyway, I am not doing a very good job at Not Thinking About It. Hmm

Casserole · 10/09/2010 14:37

Ooh Poll was hoping you'd post a linky and you did! Looks lovely Grin I think go for it, if you get the chance to.

Manstew is 6'4" and I thought THAT ruled enough houses out, 6'8".... oh my.

Brilliant news MrsFC . Well done you, you're growing an ackershul human in there!
