Starshinetiger · 17/11/2010 21:11

As usual, the Wagon has lived up to expectations with a good mix of support, friendship and smut today GrinWink

Am sitting down to do my work (yes, work work, at this time of night [grr]) and couldn't resist a check in before I get on with it.

Nat - so glad to hear you are getting the support from the official channels and on here too. I know nothing, so can only offer virtual support in being here and reading your posts.

Diege - glad that the scan at least confirmed the best possible outcome in terms of miscarriage. Thinking positive thoughts for you.

GYo - yay for week off. I have next week off (well 3 days of work), though am thinking of keeping the DC in nursery for 2 of the days in order that I can get some cleaning and shopping done (is impossible to shop with 2 DC in tow and as DH is working a lot on weekends at the mo, I am loathe to ask him to have them while I shop when he's not working). How lovely that you and Gruff had the chance to catch up with GC and SG.

Tink - that was the shock news of the day for me... that you "luv buying new bits" - surely not GrinWink - tee hee, did make me giggle that our resident shopping queen (don't get offended now Diege) said that as though she was admitting a hidden vice GrinWink

Ses and Gruff(?) sorry for the poorlies - seems to be lots of it around at the moment. DD had a horrid D&V bug on the weekend and couldn't keep even water down for about 12 hours on Sat night. Think the result has now been a urine infection too, so we've stuck her back on her normal abs and hopefully that will help.

Did have some good news last week - GOSH have said she should probably have her surgery in Feb (so keep your fingers crossed for no bumping down the list and no illness round that time). She has amazingly in the last couple of months become very keen on the potty that we have in the bathroom (not quite sure why it's there...). She likes to sit on it and then force urine out Grin. For a little girl with supposedly no muscle at bladder exit that seems really amazing to me, so waiting to see what her check-up in Jan says.

Anyway, didn't mean that to turn into a me waffle. Must get on with work now.

Ooh, nearly forgot - he's okay, Sorky (although haven't read books or seen films, only the photo you linked to), but not a patch on my 2 sleb crushes: Nigel and Rupert - the other day my DH purposely called me in to see him being interviewed (obviously a ploy on his part to show how wonderful he is, so I don't just go running off with Rupert...)

Starshinetiger · 17/11/2010 21:13

Cross posts Ses - glad you are feeling better and the DS is too.

GruffaloSoldier · 17/11/2010 21:19

Sorry Sorky I have to correct you. Statements are considered all year round (I work in SEN Law)

Legal Requirements : in a nutshell

From requesting assessment - LA have 6 weeks to decide whether to make an assessment (If they say no you have right of appeal)

If they decide to assess they have 10 weeks to complete assessment. (there are some exceptions like 6 weeks hol)

Then they have another 2 weeks to decide whether to issue a proposed statement or to write and inform the parents they are not issuing a statement (Parents have right of appeal).

From proposed statement issue, parents have 15 days to respond (ie to say whether what the statement contains sums up what is needed or whether things are missing or if they are not happy with it) Also express their preference for a maintained school.

After 15 days if no amendments are to be made then the statement is finalised and parents informed of right of appeal.

So when the statement is finalised depends on when you requested the initial statutory assessment.

They have to adhere to these guidelines but many do not and you would be surprised what they come out with as excuses (oh we don't do Stat assessment anymore Hmm) If they do not adhere you have grounds to take things further.

anyway this was supposed to be a nutshell, above all any dates of any correspondance should be put on the calendar and def make yourself aware of the deadlines. Especially when you have a certain amount of tim to respond. (but P.partnership will be aware of all this so don't worry).

Thanks for asking re my mum - not great at the mo but we are just staying positive.

GC a bit better but keeping him at home again tomorrow.

Hope all ok with everyone else

GruffaloSoldier · 17/11/2010 21:21

sorky · 17/11/2010 23:15

thanks for that Gruff.
I wonder why the schools all insist that December is the deadline then (up here)? How odd!

Very interesting though, thank you.

sorky · 17/11/2010 23:22

Doh!
I bet it's for those seeking alternative placement and transitioning, so that places can be sought in time for the next academic year......idiot that I am! Hmm

hi to anyone else ive missed RUGBY, STAR, SORKY, ...
went to my cousins yesterday so that max could play with her son, and stopped for tea so was out all day. think having a day in today. really cold. dont fancy going out haha.

NatalieJane · 18/11/2010 09:26

Thanks so much guys, really, all of your advice and support is really appreciated :o

Just had the worst nursery drop off so far, started at home, he wouldn't eat anything (not the end of the world he can have cereal and/or toast at nursery), then wouldn't get dressed, then I was trying to get his coat on while he was trying to get away and his zipper broke cue major melt down because he can't handle having his coat open, and he hasn't got another waterproof one, get to nursery, and his poor little eyes, he didn't cry or kick off, but he looked so sad :(

I am thinking about dropping him to 3 mornings a week, he is absolutely shattered (not helped by the wakings in the night because he is worried about nursery) but none of it makes any sense, once he is there, he is fine, he loves it, when I go to pick him up he is happy to be there and spent the first week crying that he didn't want to leave. What is going on in his poor little head?

Anyway...

Tink, the girls room's sound fab :o Hope the things were as good as you were expecting :)

Ses, hope you're feeling better today, and glas DS is better, bless him, it sounded quite nasty for a while there.

Star, will keep fingers crossed for February, and the potty training sounds like quite an achievement :o

Gruff, sorry to hear your mum isn't doing too well :( Thanks once again for the guideline stuff, I have seen the deadlines before, (have read so much I don't know if I have a copy of them or if I read it on the SEN COP).

Hi to everyone else :)

NatalieJane · 18/11/2010 09:30

Sorry MMM x posted.

Yes the help from Sorky and Gruff, and everyone really, it is amazing :)

Don't blame you for not wanting to go out, it is cold, misty, and rainy here, though at least the wind has dropped, and it wasn't icy!

tinkloveshercowprintslanket · 18/11/2010 11:00

hi

nat - sorry for bad drop offGrin

just been to next to pick up canvas pics for there room they r lush so nice Grin

Diege · 18/11/2010 12:53

Hello Smile. Glad that yu could get such great advice NAT - you certainly deserve to get some peace of mind and a smooth (as possible) outcome of your application. Not sure what to suggest about nursery - maybe give it a bit longer as he seems to enjoy it so much when there? A tough call though, and I can understand your reasoning.
GRUFF, soory things aren't great at the moment for your mum x
TINKS, I also had a chuckle when you posted about how much you like getting new things Wink
MMM don't blame you for staying in, really horrid weather here too.THanks for your thoughts.
SORKY, great to hear from you and what a wealth of knowledge!
STAR, that's great news about dd's op - I see what you mean about the potty - is there a chance things could have resolved themselves, or is that biologically impossib le? Confused. Thanks for your good wishes too x
I'm ok but have been feeing a bit down the last day or two. I think after the mmc 2 yrs ago, I sort of threw myself into getting healthy, eating the right foods, taking expensive supplements and it 'worked'. Now I have nothing to 'control' I feel a bit low, but will just have to take time I suppose to get things going in my mind again. Yesterday I was keen to ttc, today I can't think of anything I'd like to do less Confused.
Anyway, better get on in this house of sick - dd2 ill and have just been called from nursery to collect ds who has a temp of 40...

maxxymoosmummy · 18/11/2010 13:40

DIEGE sorry about the poorlies, hope there better soon. im sure after somethings like you have been through, thats your feelings are normal. hope you get enough rest still, you deserve it.

GRUFF sorry i mised about your mum, sorry that things arent so great atm. thought with you too.

Hi TINKS, and thanks Smile. Feeling fine today, bleeding has stopped too, which helps a lot.
Have started xmas shopping!!! ( I can never start even thinking about xmas until the Nov birthdays are over)Got ds his one and only present (other than stocking) a chad valley garage. DD2 wants a spy watch (that secretly records things Hmm)and the others have ideas too, so hoping to get the 'big' presents sorted as soon as fund allow. Also bought ds his first pair of proper shoes today. He is very impressed and has been plodding very heavy footed around the garden. He also has them in his cot now during his sleep as he won't let go of them (I have cleaned them!!!). Certainly his mother's son Grin
Hope everyone is ok x

Hi to all, x

Glad things are good with you Diege

Things are ok here. Ive tried to be focused today so am surviving.

Pink sounds good tink!

OP posts:
Diege · 22/11/2010 16:07

Focus is hard though isn't it Grin. I have 3 e-mails that I've been meaning to address for 3 weeks now, and I just can't bring myself to answer them (too hard!!).
Have just written a lecture on the civil service, hence the fatigue I think...
