Shock no caffeine Shock Is this the same woman that had us making miles of straws to sip a proper coffee not all that long ago?!! (Or was that me?!! Confused Oh I don't know, but you either had the coffee or wanted it!!)

Giraffe, hoorah for a week off :)

Have just had a very reassuring convo. with the HV (I love that woman, she may be a lot bit condesending at times, but she knows her stuff!) for anyone that trawled through that thread I linked to, she has said the SENCo is talking rubbish, and "not many SENCo's have the qualifications to have any input in a child's health, I am a HEALTH visitor, I do health, she is just a small part of the jigsaw that will make up G's support team, and I wouldn't worry a jot about her, or her undoubtedly unqualified opinions". Love love LOVE that woman! :o I had been really quite bloody miserable since we saw the SENCo last week, worrying he won't get the support he (IM(also unqualified!)O!) needs, but, now feel like I am slowly getting to grips with 'the system' and really feel like the HV has our corner.

Diege · 15/11/2010 13:13

Brownie and decaff tea please GYO! Well, back from appoint - one of those dr's that just sits there and says nothing and expects you to start...cue inevitable waffling from me Blush. She was pretty clueless (is great with skin problems Grin) but didn't know about the anti-d, and when I probed about future problems (ie, length of luteal phases etc, progesterone supplements, etc etc I might have been speaking another language. Any how, she has booked me in for a scan tomorrow with epu, which is a bit sledge hammer to crack a nut, but at least it will make sure that everyone has gone Hmm. Feel a bit of a fraud going, but at least I'm fully expecting to see nothing!
Right, dinner time!

Diege · 15/11/2010 13:16

x-posts NAT..yes, I remember the coffee thing Grin. It was you who wanted it desperately if I remember, but was it me who had the beans/coffee makers and hence you the long straw ? Confused. And did rafa have anything to do with it? Or am I confusing straws with snakes? Wink
Great that you had a good appointment; I love your hv's tone Grin

GiraffeYoga · 15/11/2010 13:22

Hello

Nat- sounds like you had a good chat with HV. WHat a nice change to hear of a good one!

Diege- b*gger that appt! I hate those kind of doctors who seem to have not been trained at all. At least with the scan you can be clear on the situtation after tomorrow.

THere is no way you are a fraud- you need to be scanned as much as the next lady who is 6wks preg and bleeding. Are you getting time to yourself whilst being off or are you looking after the DDs and DS?

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 15/11/2010 13:32

Rafa, that was you and Kayz slavering fawning over him... long hair and sweat, yuk!! Enough to put you right off a coffee!

I'm with Giraffe, (lol, don't think I've ever said that before in my life!), scan deffo a good idea, you know what the possibilities are, so am not going to try and raise hopes or anything, but yes, a deffo final answer is good for your soul. And you are absolutely entitled to it.

Diege · 15/11/2010 13:51

Ah yes, I remember now, though I do thi8nk was on my own rafa-wise and that Kayz was more of a roger federer woman?
Yes, scan will be good I suppose, and at least they will be able to tell me if anything looks dodgy anatomy-wise. At least I get another day off work BlushOh and GYO meant to say no children here till 4ish! Am picking up dds early from child minder to take to cafe for continued birthday celebrations!

NatalieJane · 15/11/2010 14:01

LOL I think Kayz should speak for herself about being a Roger type of woman :o (though methinks she's all too loved up with her new fella to worry about us, or Roger (or maybe not Roger Shock Wink))

Diege · 15/11/2010 14:10

Hopefully not Roger though it's a free world of course Grin

NatalieJane · 15/11/2010 14:14

LOL, wonder if her ear's are burning?!! :o

I hope it's just her ear's :o Blush

Diege · 15/11/2010 14:32

Ah it's just like the good (h)ol(d) days Grin

NatalieJane · 15/11/2010 14:41

I do not know what you mean young laydee :)

Where's that Sorky when you need a filthy mind to exploit? Got some HE questions, but think I'd like to sound her out before I delve into that board!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 15/11/2010 15:10

Glad nat's got you in lighter spirit's Diege!! :) agree that a scan will be good just to 'clear' up what's happened and have you ready to move onto the next stage... out of interest do you think you'll be ttc asap? you know how things went with the mmc and getting pg with DS...?

Have been up in the night loads with a stinking cold!! :( hoping it shifts itself soon as i'm exhausted today!!

GiraffeYoga · 15/11/2010 17:15

Hiya

Been laughing here about the tennis chat. I can also recall the coffee/ long straw discussion :)

Had a lovely afternoon with some of my NCT ladies and babies. Plus the first new addition who is now 10wks.

It so nice to go out wiht them but it gives me such mixed feelings about work/ home priorities its weird. im such a muppet sometimes - grass is always greener!

Grin
and not toop expensive

cantmummyhaveabreak · 15/11/2010 18:42

Giraffe- sickness is getting there- still on my anti-metics tablets and sick most mornings, but once the meds kick in i seem to be fine the rest of the day... when i'm hungry i can get really sick so just keep eating little snacks here and there to keep on top of it. :)

As for your NCT- everyone has to make the right decision for themselves and their family- and if you being a working mum gives your DD the best then that's what you should do. I am a SAHM only because DH's wage allows it... i never had a decent careear (sp) before having DS nearly 6y ago now... so there's no point in me trying to get a minimum wage job when it'd only just cover the extra childcare costs... we're lucky in a way that our mortgage is very low, but we're not so lucky in that we dont have extra money at the end of the month... we have no savings or anything because we've never had the time to make any with having the DC's so young... hopefully we'll land on our feet money-wise a bit better once DD2 is in school in a few years and i can get a job and do school runs etc still. You do what you should as a mother!! :)

maxxymoosmummy · 15/11/2010 18:59

evening all,
DIEGE glad your app had some success ie getting a scan. hope your holdin up ok, and the continued birthday celebrations went well too.
TINK great on swapping rooms round.
NJ glad to hear you have been reasured by HV Smile not very often you get a good one.
GYo glad you had a great day sounds fab.

me and DS had a morning in today, then went and met my mum out of work and been there for the afternoon. M is now fast asleep after not having a nap all day.

hi to anyone ive missed SES, RUGBY, STAR, CANT ...

GruffaloSoldier · 15/11/2010 21:05

Hi all

Just popping in as I am absolutely cream crackered and fighting to stay awake!

I am so sorry Diege about your news. Good that you managed to get a scan sorted and hope that you are holding up xxx

Hi Tink - rooms swap around sounds good!

NJ - I read your other thread. I would say sounds like ASD to me, particularly with hypersensitivity to noise as that is very prevalent in ASD with those other issues you spoke about. I would def take what SENCo says with pinch of salt. If you need any help with getting provision I can send you some info and links as that is part of my job. Do you have a copy of the SEN Code of Practice?

CANT - I feel your pain with sickness! I too have to keep snacking or everything goes too pear shaped as soon as I get hungry! I am also really tired and worried about how much quality time I am giving GC as most of the time I am just exhausted :(

Hey GYo - morning with NCT sounds good. I agree with CANT that you have to make hard decisions when you're a mum, and you do what you think is best. Plus it helps you love your job. I hate working and would much rather be at home with GC. I just end up sick, tired and stressed when I work. (erm that sounds like pregnancy actually Confused )

Hi to MMM, Rugby, Ses any other lurkers or anyone I missed!

tinkwantsaslanket · 15/11/2010 21:22

Evening

Hi ladies
It is hard balancing work and children

maxxymoosmummy · 16/11/2010 08:49

morning all,

GRUFF im sure you give GC as much attention you can with juggling work at same time. i wouldnt worry, im sure GC is doing great Smile

not sure what to do today Hmm ... its a little chilly and all, so might just stay in.

tinkwantsaslanket · 16/11/2010 09:02

hi mm - same i am having a quiet day in

cantmummyhaveabreak · 16/11/2010 09:13

Gruff- I do feel the same with DD2... and the other 2 if i'm honest- i kinda just make the very most of the days i'm feeling good... and i'm just about starting to get my energy back so DD2 is enjoying mummy being able to play a bit more again... You'll be fine, and as i am you'll start feeling a bit livlier soon enough, and GC will never remember!! :)

NatalieJane · 16/11/2010 09:38

Morning :o

Diege, what time is the scan? Is someone going with you? Thinking of you x

Gruff, echo-ing everyone else really, I am sure GC is doing brilliantly, I really don't think there is a 'right' or 'wrong' answer to the whole SAHM/Working mum thing. I am lucky in that DH earns enough for us to live fairly comfortably, yeah we don't go on massive holidays or have £1000's in the bank, but there is time for all of that, and TBH the thought of taking three kids on holiday isn't exactly a relaxing thought! But they don't want for anything, we go for days out, meals out, etc. In fact the only person under any sufferance is me! (boo hoo blah blah blah!) If you get chance to send those links, that would be really good please, I think the HV is pretty much on the ball and is doing everything that can be done at this stage, but it is always good to have my own look at things! I have seen the SEN code of practice on line, I need to read through it all properly TBH, have also got (and I assume it is the same sort of thing but a different name?) Special Educational Needs - A Guide For Parents and Carers, from The Children's Plan that they sent with the paper work for the formal assessment, need to read through that as well, when I've finished the paper work.

Think I have completely cocked up the DLA form, since I filled it all in (and even what I did do took four days!), I've realised that there is more I could have put on it about what he does/doesn't do, I should have gone into even greater detail etc. so I don't know whether to ring them and explain that I think there is more info to be added, or leave it and see what they say? It is really wierd, I had a handful of things I knew he struggled with, but since reading more and more, so much more has come to light, I'll be reading something and think 'George does that', I have taken to writing things on a list, and it's horrible, to look down the list at all the things he can't do, and see the list growing day by day :(

I was a bit (unreasonably) cross at nursery yesterday, they took them all to the library which is about a 10 minute walk from the nursery, when I went to pick him up at lunch, they said they'd been down to the library (hadn't told me they were going in the morning) and I asked if he'd walked it (thinking he'd never manage that far, never mind the return journey) and she said "No, we took three buggies with us, George stayed in one of them", so now you just know not only will he refuse to walk, even around the supermarket, he's going to be screaming for a buggy. IABU to be cross because they didn't know I suppose, and I can't expect them to carry him when he refuses to walk like we do, but am still a bit grrrr at them for introducing yet another problem for him to harvest.

Sorry am rambling, time for a brew I think!

Diege · 16/11/2010 12:32

Hi Smile. Scan was fine. I've had a complete miscarriage so the best I could hope for. Everything looks good too (ovaries etc), so they've said wait until I've had a period then I can try again. They've also said I can book an early scan if/when I get a bfp with them, which is a massive help and means I don't have to go via the GP. So all ok, though feeling very, very tired, possibly due to falling hormones/ the mental exhaustion of it all!
Nat, I don't think I'd overly worry about the DLA form for now - I'm sure they'll give you a chance to amend if need be, though might as you say be worth ringing for advice to put your mind at rest? Re: the nursery situation, tbh I wouldnlt be too harsh on the staff as it's difficult to know what else they could do in the circumstances. I do see how it's one more isse that you may have to deal with though x

NatalieJane · 16/11/2010 12:54

Ah Diege :( It is really positive though that everything looks fine and that you can go direct to them next time for reassurance :) Now you just need to rest rest and rest (or least try to!) I have been checking all morning to see if/when you replied

Thanks for your thoughts re. the DLA, think I might have a word with DH and see what he thinks. And I do know I am being unreasonable with the nursery/buggy thing, which is why I haven't said anything, it was like I said, I can't expect them to do anything else really, but it isn't them that have to deal with him all the time IYKWIM?
