Hello all,

I just realised I put the 1000'th message on our last thread (uh oh, I think that's the limit), so in my Blush at not realising I'd reached the limit, thought I'd better start a new thread if anyone finds it.

Morning everyone!

I'm so pleased there are some people out there who are looking and feeling fab - there is hope for the rest of us!

I was driven out of bed by hunger in the middle of the night, but the upside is that I've managed to sleep through until 8.30, which is absolute luxury. The step daughters turn up tomorrow, and we'll be back to 5.30am 'snuggles' so I'm enjoying it while I can. :)

Feeling really peaceful this morning. It's amazing what some sleep can do for you.

Have a lovely day everyone.

byronicheroine · 23/09/2010 09:40

Yes! Halfway there.... it must be strange for friends and family who have only known for a month or two.. it seems to have flown for me, let alone them. I can't believe I will have responsibility for a whole other person in a little under 5 months!
I am completely in awe of all you mums out there who already have a kid/kids to cope with on top of being pregnant. respect I'm tired and can barely look after myself at the moment! At least my gran is coming out tomorrow and she can make a fuss of me. She's bringing shortbread and crumpets even though she was very put out at being made a great grandmother.
Have a lovely day everyone, congrats on scans and good luck with upcoming scans :)

Deliaskis · 23/09/2010 09:43

Morning all,

Am I allowed to stick my head above the parapet and admit I'm having a really cr@ppy week? I am just feeling really blue for no reason at all apart from hormones I guess. Chewed DH out last night for really a very small misdemeanour, and just can't be ar$ed with anything. I'm doing a lot of huffing and puffing and dramatic sighs and I'm possibly even starting to annoy myself with my long face.

So there, I'm not having fun this week and feeling v sorry for myself. Sorry to...you know...share my cr@p with everyone. There's nothing actually properly wrong, I'm just in a bit of a self-pity frenzy.

Sorry for being non-upbeat. I know I need to pull myself together. Any wise words?

D

EauRouge · 23/09/2010 09:56

Delia, have some chocolate cake and watch your favourite film. Hormones are a bugger!

Deliaskis · 23/09/2010 10:02

Acutally chocolate cake would be nice right now (yep. even at 10am)!

Dx

grigglepuff · 23/09/2010 10:25

Hormones are a bitch aren't they! I hate when I'm a complete cow but I know I'm being one but still just have to go through the motions of being angry and irritated and all that. Sometimes I just embrace it - have a good old teenage strop and then can laugh about it afterwards. Obviously this doesn't work all the time (I'm not exactly giving wise words here- sorry!)
I'd me more inclined to indulge myself with a hefty chocolate cake even if it's before lunchtime! Grin

Byroni I know 5 months then a whole person! crazy stuff. I freaked out when DH said he'd be off for a month after the birth because I realised thats only 4 weeks. I will be in charge of a 5 week old tiny person! Aaaaaarrrrgh :) it'll be great though

wigglesrock · 23/09/2010 10:36

D I haven't been arsed to do anything for about 2 weeks, seriously I have been meaning to properly clean bathroom for about 10 days Blush. Finally did it this morning , only took about 15 mins but I made such a big deal about it!! Washing my hair feels like a really big chore, and as for helping my 5 year old with her homework, my sighs can probably be heard 100 miles away!!

Treat yourself to a dvd, your favourite chocolate dinner and maybe some nice smellies.

Byroni Can't believe in 5 months I'll have 3dcs under 5.5!! It took me years to conceive dd1 so it feels amazing but quite scary and sometimes overwhelming.

angels1 · 23/09/2010 11:01

Is there some unwritten rule about not eating chocolate cake before lunch that I've never heard of?! Blush I think chocolate cake is ALWAYS fine at any time Wink.
[starts mouth watering at the thought but must resist looking in the cupboard for yet more dairy milk which I have probably already consumed anyway].

Was anyone here due to give birth at the sidcup hospital s. london that has announced it's closing its maternity ward for winter? It seems everyone there are sifted between 2 other hospitals - one of which is my 'local' but I've chosen to give birth at another one further away but brand new all singing all dancing place opening up a month before my EDD :) Quite glad I chose this one as presumably the already existingly busy maternity ward at my local hospital will now be bursting at the seams with having to take in lots of people from another hospital, and I don't much fancy giving birth in a corridor Confused

I've ordered two (yes, two) pg excercise dvds. Am feeling really fat all over and I can see my face is getting chubby and feel really down about it, so am hoping to at least try the dvds and see how I get on (not sure if I'll get past that warm up initially though!). Not sure if this is a good idea with a back injury issue but feel like I have to try something. I'm craving swimming (no food cravings, just excercise then!) but can't as get ear infections every time I go as have ear probs. I know I'd swim half a length and get exhausted and have to give up..but still the thought of trying is applealing.

I also had a long sleep last night and it's amazing I don't feel too bad at all today - actually feel itching to go to work! They have told me I'm not allowed to go in while sighed off no matter how much I want to (h & s or something) but I'm going in for a meeting next week and if that goes well I want to ask my GP to change my note to going back on reduced timetable and see how that goes :) am really looking forward to getting back to normal life.

I constantly get freaked out by the responsibility of being a mum, especially as DH taking a week or so off but that's it and I don't know how I'll cope alone all day. Also not looking forward to moving when I'm about 35 weeks pg Hmm

was it eaurouge that mentioned you could bf whilst wearing a sling? Love this idea and had never thought of it before - great for multtasking I'm already imagining cooking dinner at same time as bfing now (but trying not to splash food on little baby!). Would any sling be ok for bfing or do you need a special one?

D, don't you worry! Whinge away, that's what this thread is here for!

Linz, congratulations on your little girl! That's great news Smile.

I've just been for my 16 week check up (even though I'm nearly 18 weeks) and heard the heart beat loud and clear Smile. The midwife found it straight away, so reassuring!

Wanderingsheep · 23/09/2010 11:16

Wiggles, 3 under 6! You're mad brave! Grin I'm with you on the housework thing. Some days I feel like I've done well if I got dressed Blush I'm getting better since DD has started pre-school though!

wigglesrock · 23/09/2010 11:29

Thanks wandering, can feel a little aaggh slightly disorganised round here!!

Ps Wearing the M&S leggings, got last night, vvvvvv comfy, may never take them off!! £8 not maternity just every day range.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 23/09/2010 12:02

I will miss out on having three under six by about a month!

One of my teachers at school had four under two, though (had triplets when her DD1 was 18 months or so) and if she could manage that then mine should be easy...

applecharlotte · 23/09/2010 12:02

Just wanted to say hello and let you know that I had my 20 week scan this morning and we are defo having a boy!! There was no denying the bits we saw on the screen!

Bit of a shock really as we've only had little girls in our family so its going to take a bit of getting used to the idea of having a son.

Can anyone with boys already give me some insight? Also where is good for cute boy clothes? I just want to get buying now!

Congratulations to those who have already had their scans and good luck to those who are still to have them. It is such an interesting one as they check everything in such detail.

BTW the maternity over the bump tights from Mama's and Papa's are AMAZING I'd really reccommend them. So comfy, I've been using just normal tights so far and they've been cutting me in two ouch!

Oneof4 · 23/09/2010 12:02

Deliaskis - hang in there. And I agree with Angels that chocolate cake is right at any time. Where I grew up it was seen as one of your five a day.

ledkr · 23/09/2010 12:03

delia thats normal to feel like that love. I cheered up when made an effort to do something and went for meal and film with dh and had agreat laugh. Also i pick rare moments of energy to do chores and stuff. I do get this terrible feeling of rage some evenings but i think its when i am tired. I get dd to bed sharpish and warn dh i am feeling hideous.
Cheer youself up with something nice and also get alittle light exercise it does help
Some of the threads on here are hillarious and really cheer me up I get quite hysterical at them so try that.Hope you feel better soon.

ledkr · 23/09/2010 12:06

can anyone wear the under bump jeans cos i find them really annoying and uncomfortable. Have abrand new dorothy perkins pair here size 16 skinny dark blue if anyone wants them.

Wanderingsheep · 23/09/2010 12:22

AppleCharlotte, lovely news about your boy! The little boy that I used to Childmind always had lovely clothes on. I think the majority of his where from Next (most often), Tesco and Matalan, although he was a bit older. I had him from 14 months and he's now 2 and a half!

I really want some long tops or dresses to wear with leggings but haven't found any [frustrated]. They had some jumper dresses in New Look which would have been perfect but they weren't maternity. The bigger sized neckline was hanging around my waist!

angels1 · 23/09/2010 13:10

loving all the good scan news Grin

I've been asked if i want to buy a second hand Speedi Quinny SX from work colluegue and quite excited at the prospect of cheap buggy which comes with all the extras etc (she's got carry cot etc to go with it) but not sure if it will fit in the boot of my yaris - anyone have any ideas/knowledge? I've posted on pushchair thread but thought with all of your inifinite knowledge you might know. I'm just wanting to know whether to get excited about it or not!

40Weeks · 23/09/2010 13:16

Oh crap I'll have thee aged 4.2 and under, do you think a week at The Priory comes with the bounty pack??

Hello newbies, glad everyone is having good scans, congrats to all those who know. Sorry just skimmed the previous messages, you have been chatting non stop since yesterday!

ANgels have you scuppered PRUH or St Marys in favour of better hospital? Where is the new one? Havent heard of super duper new place unless its Lewisham??? Do tell!

Also, the Qunniny is one of the few buggies that fit in any boot, apparently. Google it and am sure you will find a list somewhere (as I wanted to find out all the buggies that went with the maxi cosi car seat) It fits in my friends Mini anyhoo

angels1 · 23/09/2010 13:24

40weeks it's pembury. It's further away from PRUH for me to get to (I'm down the road from chelsfield) but worth the extra journey I think as it means I get all my mw appointments at sevenoaks hospital (which is a lovely little mw unit) and pembury maternity unit is opening in early/mid jan and apparently it's an all singing all dancing hospital (first one in country where everyone has their own room apparently). Fingers crossed building work doesn't go on longer Hmm although mw seem confident they get keys to new unit in dec. It would only take 1/2 hr to get to in good traffic (and if I go into labour in rush hour I'll just have to leave when contractions are more spaced apart than they tell you to wait. Are you PRUH or st marys?

OP posts:
grigglepuff · 23/09/2010 13:41

angels would it be possible to ask to drive over to your colleagues place and see if it'll fit in your boot?

zerominuszero · 23/09/2010 13:45

angels I'm probably going to spend the big day in Pembury, too. I'm very keen on a water birth so I hope this spangly new hospital has lots of birthing pools!

angels1 · 23/09/2010 13:58

yeah grigglepuff I will, it's just I'm getting really excited about it (quite sad really...) but don't want to get my hopes up if it won't fit.

Btw - if you were offered to buy a Speedi Quinny SX buggy thing brought in 2008 with carry cot with mosquito net/rain cover, attachment to fit a maxi cosi car seat (but not the car seat)and foot muff and buggy had been used for 16 months (but apparently carry cot hardly used) second hand for 'any reasonable offer' any ideas what a reasonable offer is? I have no idea and don't want to be too tight/generous.

zerominuszero may see you there! If not during/after labour then on the hospital tour - we'll have to have some mn code to know who we are like winking or a private hand shake or something Wink

OP posts:
40Weeks · 23/09/2010 14:02

Angles I am at PRUH but am hoping for another homebirth as hated it for my first. Hadnt really considered Pembury though, although my friend lives in Sevenoaks and is going there. Sounds lovely.

Am also buying a second hand buggy for this one - I looked in eBay for the going rate which helped me know what was a fair price, might be worth a look.

So if anyone wants a mamas and papas travel system or a Mothercar double buggy let me know as am selling them both!

knittakid · 23/09/2010 15:32

:-) the trouble with secret winking/hand shake is that you might end up winking at lots of people who just think you are comming on to them! just before labour!

Thanks EarRouge, will have a look at that page, I can imagina some quiet is going to be great, but I'm not very good at sitting down for long, at least without knitting.

Congrats on all the new scans!

angels I do hope you can do some work soon, it has helped me sooo much with feeling down, horrible and all that.
