Hello all,

I just realised I put the 1000'th message on our last thread (uh oh, I think that's the limit), so in my Blush at not realising I'd reached the limit, thought I'd better start a new thread if anyone finds it.

Hawkins bazaar is the best deliaskis. I've got a few 'magic gardens' for children relatives - like magic trees but a whhhhhoooooollllllleeee gaaaaaarrrdeeeeennn (says she with real excitement at the wonder of the magic tree).

Also on good news front - my replacement doppler arrived today (yes, I was in for that delivery!) and it works - found the heartbeat super quick with no trouble Grin so it seems it wasn't me struggling with my other doppler - it really was faulty!

Scubamummy lovely news congratulations!!

I'm feeling loads of flutters I'm thrilled!

Can't even think about Christmas, it's too far off and you lot are too organised!!

X

Lulabel27 · 16/09/2010 15:46

Congratulations scubamummy that's brilliant news :) Gosh there's lots of girls being born on this thread!

Just got back from pregnancy yoga. I found it quite dull... not sure if that's a good or bad thing? It was an hour long and I suppose I do feel relaxed, but wasn't massively stressed beforehand. Maybe it'll be better when I'm further along? It's £9 per session though so won't be going every week!

angels1 · 16/09/2010 16:03

lulabel I did yoga pre-preg and the first couple I went to I found thoroughly boring and not quite sure whether to carry on. After that I just cliked in to it and found it fabulous. I'd quite like to do preg yoga but don't feel up to it yet and whenever I do pg yoga DVD's they ALL (well, the 2 I've tried) do poses like downward dog (where you go on all fours then stick your bum in the air up high with your legs and arms out straight) and it makes me feel really dizzy. £9 is pricey though.

That reminds me, my local NCT do drop in pg yoga - must look into that. Also, haven't got around to booking my ante-natal NCT classes (I know Shock I shouldn't leave it this long). They're probably booked up by now anyway. I assume everyone here who is going to do NCT has booked already and I'm just the slow coach??

40weeks - if you're booked in, you never know, we may well be in the same group if I get a spot Grin as we live close

EauRouge · 16/09/2010 17:25

I had a pregnancy yoga DVD last time and I couldn't do it because every time I tried to sit in the position in the DVD I couldn't breath Blush I might dig it out and give it another go though, if I can persuade DD to join in Grin

It was raining here today so I took her to the Kiddicare warehouse where they have a cafe and an indoor play area. I was Shock at all the pointless products they were flogging, all the advertising was basically 'buy this or your child will die and/or have a nasty accident'. Hmm

Trojan1970 · 16/09/2010 19:12

Angels - if I give you a list, will you do my Xmas shopping for me please??!! Wink

ledkr · 16/09/2010 19:46

congrats on the girls. I will find out tomorrow at 9.30 so will be back on later in the day to spill the beans. Going to buy gender appropriate outfit afterwards to show dd as she is so excited about finding out. We am only going to tell her and you lot of course.
moominwhen i had dd after 3 ds i said i wouldnt be going mad on the pink and frills....5 days later i was in mothercare hobbling painfully around and spent loads on dresses and tights and suchlike. She continues to be a fashion victim to this day!
I know its early but its 8 yrs since dd and i cant breast feed this time. Can anyone advise me on best bottles and formula?Im not sure what they give in hosp but will ask as dont want to be changing it when home.I may post on another thread cos i am really not at all sure.
Did you have afull bladder at the 20wk scan too?
Had a nasty moment with the dopler last night. My belly sounded like a ghost town.I felt sick. Kept on trying then picked it up very faintly on the left im sure behind the placenta.Had unsettled night then this am my belly looked lopsided and bigger on the rt.Put the dopler on and it was strong and loud!!I can only assume it has finally come out from behind my placenta and moved over.Made me wonder what id do. I dont think theyd take you seriously at the hospital if you said dopler. I'd be inclined to lie and say pain i think.

wigglesrock · 16/09/2010 19:55

Ledkr Good luck for tomorrow, v excited for you.

I always used SMA Gold for my 2 dds, but same as you am going to check with Hospital as am giving birth in different one this time. I always used Tommee Tippee bottles but switched to Boots own after a few months, think this time I might try Dr Browns, they are dearer but my friends swear by them!! By the way I usually use a steam steriliser but was away over weekend with friend and she had a microwave one (5 mins tops and really neat and tidy looking) so might give that a whirl.

ledkr · 16/09/2010 20:13

Cheers wriggles. I will use the micro steriliser and i like the bottles with the big soft teats like tommee tippee. Will look at Dr Browns too ta.I told dh i am buying a microwave for the little room next to ours as i sleep in the atic and am not running down 2 flights everytime baby needs a feed(bottle warmers too slow)dh then said; and i kid you not. "do they need milk in the night then?" he was serious.I asked if he thought they just settled down around 8 and woke up for breakfast? He is very shocked. It is his first btw.Cant wait to see his face when its every 3-4 hours, Will almost make it worth the broken nights.:O
Lookin forward to scan but nightmare colleague is having her dating scan just after si am hoping to avoid her. Still feeling a bit bratty about the sex cos they told me in London its a girl but i know thats very early but i kind of set my heart on it now but also keep thinking it will be nice to have aboy as my youngest ds is now 20(sad)knowing my luck they wont be able to tell.

EauRouge · 16/09/2010 20:22

Good luck with the scan ledkr, hope all goes well and that baby plays ball and shows off its bits Grin

jackinthebump · 16/09/2010 20:30

Good luck on tomorrows scan!

I feel like my belly button is starting to tear and the skin on my stomach can not stretch any more! Think my first stretch mark is immanent!!!

Oh and to cap it off I'm working in Germany at the mo and have to get up at 02:30 to drive back to UK tomorrow!!! Not amused!!!

Tarlia · 16/09/2010 20:45

I can def recommend a micro-steriliser, I've only used the Avent one in the past, but it is fab. Have also used the electric ones, but found the micro so much better and faster.
Decided to go with the Avent for myself and grabbed a bargin today - the steriliser and newborn starter pack of bottles, both 50% off in Mothercare. Also got the electric breast pump from there £30 off. They also have the tomme tippi closer to nature stuff on offer too (didn't go for those as read bad reviews on the pump. I should be earning comission :P

Not sure if anyone is interested, but read a post about the Quinny zapp xtra (did someone say they were looking at it!?)in the MN pram section, someone is claiming that it isn't suitable for newborns for a longer than 2 hour period just like the car seats as its not flat or supporting enough - I'm not sure, as I've not seen this product in the flesh, but thought someone might want to investigate in the shops.

Whisht, tired after that, and sorry, have forgotten everything else I wanted to say. Hope you've all has lovely days! Bedtime for me though, sweet dreams x

worrymummy · 16/09/2010 21:44

Hello all - have been offline for too long and can't catch up with everyone's news. Can see that some of you have had scans and know what you are having (a baby), gender I mean.

Congratulations to you all with great scans (mine's a week tomorrow) and enjoy the name debates! xx

janedoe25 · 17/09/2010 07:21

Good luck with qll the scans tomorrow!
I bought an avent electric steriliser for £20 from tesco, they also had the avent bottles half price. I do plan on breastfeeding for a bit, but as a childminder i dont't feel i can carry it on when i go back to work (after 10 wks). I mind 3 boys who are 6 and 7 and i would feel really uncomfortable feeding in front of their prying eyes!

Oh Mamas and papas have a half price sale, i just got some lovely maternity jeans for £10 from £40! Hope u all have a lovely day. Grin

Tarlia · 17/09/2010 07:50

Good luck with the scans today, Ladies. I'm awaiting your news :-)

angels1 · 17/09/2010 08:35

Morning ladies,

Thinking of ledkr for her scan.

Hoping to go to mamas and papas today for some cheap bargains (and possible first ever baby purchase other than maternity clothes) but depends on when my delivery arrived with christmas gifts as I'm not missing it again! Wink.

Has anyone ever used/heard of an o3 (ozone) steriliser?? We got one as a wedding gift (not on our list and odd choice but still....) and have never seen one before. It says on the pack it sterilises food and babies bottles just by using water (some sort of chemical reaction changing 02 to 03 or something). I think it plugs in to work and I have no idea how long it takes and how good it is (we put it in the loft). Just wondered if anyone had any experience with one????

knittakid · 17/09/2010 10:27

Good luck ledkr!

I'm still not feeling any movs....so frustrating.

Wanderingsheep · 17/09/2010 15:08

Hello! Hope the scans have all gone well today!

We've got a Tommee Tippee steriliser and bottles as they were both on offer. We used them with DD and the bottles seemed ok, she didn't have any colic or any problems so we're hoping that this will be the case this time around! The steriliser OTOH broke after 2 weeks so we ended up with a cheapy Lindham one! The Tommee Tippee one that we have this time is a little different to the last one we bought so hopefully it won't break! Will keep the receipt just in case, we didn't do that last time (doh).

Well I haven't heard anything of my Quadruple test results and she said "within 4 days" if high risk. It was on Monday so the fact that I haven't heard must mean that it's low! (I hope I'm not speaking too soon)

ledkr · 17/09/2010 15:27

Hi all. Got tears in my eyes at all your kind wishes-its like having hundreds of sisters!
Well all is good with my little GIRL woooo! I cant believe my luck. 3 boys then dd and now i get to do it all again. She was very still and we got a good look at her face in profile. Very much like dh with turned up nose and she looks quite elfin. She has been Ivy for last weeks but have to say she doesnt look like an Ivy now.
Sonographer was fairly non commital but did say female and showed us her bits so am going to buy pink but leave the tags on. DD is very excited dh has gone to pick her up now from school and i have bought a little pink top from next with "little sister"on it and some timy jeggings haha.DD has said she doesnt mind what it is but will be lovely to have a sister.DH is pleased too we are off on a date tonight to celebrate-horror film and dinner cant wait.
Had a look at bottles in boots the Dr Brown are very expensive so i will need some convincing first. The hip milk is organic so thought that maybe best but still in the dark and its sooo expensive too.Felt a bit overwhelmed in boots as even tho i am getting alot off my dgs suddenly there seemed a lot to buy as well as xmas to do too.And its dd birthday on 21.1. so she will need presents and a party.Expensive and tiring. Wanted to get the cards cleared before on rubbishy mat pay.
Self centred post sorry, hope you are all feeling chipper and thanks again for your lovely wishes.xx

ledkr · 17/09/2010 15:29

Oh knittai do not feel much apart from flickers on my bladder. As i suspected it was confirmed at the scan i have an anterior placenta-very common- which cushions the kicks s dont worry and you will be glad of the buffer later on trust me.

knittakid · 17/09/2010 15:43

Yeiiii! a girl! congrats ledkr!!!

Just about three weeks to go now for the scan so will then know if it is the placenta cushioning it, or it is just a very zen baby, like its dad.

Even if it is a girl we have decided no pink things, there will be enough of that if it is a her and she's like me as a child (ridiculously girly).

Sorry know nothing about bottles (or anything about babies, really), but reading with interest.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 17/09/2010 15:49

Congratulations!

Ivy is a lovely name -- would be very unfortunate with DH's name, though (we have to avoid anything botanical for DCs' names) so not an option for us.

angels1 · 17/09/2010 15:52

congrats ledkr - so excited for you. What alot of girls there will be born in feb Wink.

Went to mamas and papas this pm but not very impressed with their sale - all the maternity bits I thought were nice wern't in sale and I did spot a nice top and waited for ages and ages at checkout but staff busy and so no one to take my money - I gave up after 5 minutes - dumped the top and walked out - if they don't want to take my money Hmm.

Is anyone else feeling a bit odd when they look at baby things in shops? I sort of feel like I don't belong and I shouldn't be looking at these things yet. It's so odd. I guess it's as this is my first and I'm only 4 or so months gone. Feels like the staff are looking at me with 'she doesn't belong here yet' eyes (which I know they arn't).

Oh, and happy to report my leg crossing worked and I didn't miss the delivery man whilst in the loo again Wink
