Thanks Vitapulchra....actually feel fine tbh! Main thing was the tiredness because didnt get a chance to rest while baby was sleepy that first night. They kept waking me up for drips, for a shower, etc! Feel like I have got hang of napping when baby naps etc now though

Thinking of you girls...you will all be cuddling your wee ones before you know it!

vitapulchra · 05/09/2010 17:54

No sweep for me today, either--the MWs said they were too busy on the ward. I didn't have an appt so they were just seeing if they could fit me in. Have to call for an appt tomorrow with consultant for later this week. Glad you got yours, Foxy and here's hoping it works for you soon!

I'm soooooooooooooooooooo fed up. All I do is hobble around and whinge. Remind me of this when I'm sleepless and constantly bfing. Smile Can't wait!

Hey vita dont blame you for feeling fed up. Its awful at the end when you are just so big you cant really sleep, walk, get out of bath...do anything other than wait for baby!

chicken foxy Lilly and Vita you will be snuggling your little ones before you know it!

My little un highjacked ur birthday Emster!!!

Bubbabear · 06/09/2010 04:11

Just to say I'm not on mn much at the mo but am still thinking of u girlies that are left.

performs best cheerleading moves that she can at 4am with a milk monster in her arms 'go Chickie' 'go Foxy' 'go Lily' 'go Vita' !!!

Am realising more & more how lucky I was to have LO early & escape all the extra discomfort & frustrations of going full term / overdue. I think u are all doing great! Hope our August thread circle of babies is complete very soon x x

LCRLCR · 06/09/2010 05:02

Good luck to the last women standing!

I have a bf question - 10 days in & I'm finding it difficult ie sore and nonstop but have had latch checked, baby is gaining weight etc so think on the whole we're doing ok. Lately however baby is really wrestling with my breast and making feeds really difficult. She fusses, pulls on and off, pulls, kneads and twists my nipple with her mouth & it's excruciating. I'm at my wits end. My nursing app says that in a 1 hour 20 min feed, she actually fed for just 18 mins. Any tips?

foxyjbro99 · 06/09/2010 08:52

LCR - wish I could help! do you mean nursing app as in iphone??? I need to get one!

Any developments today??? Vita - are you going to try and get a sweep?

I had some brown discharge last night following my sweep, but now back to nothing :(

vitapulchra · 06/09/2010 09:04

Nothing happening here. Have consultant appt Wed late afternoon. Must just keep waiting!

LCR--I don't really know, but I would guess that since she's not actually feeding for 1.5 hrs, take her off the breast and give yourself a little break. Perhaps she's looking for comfort as well as nursing and since she's fed for awhile, try to comfort her in other ways instead? As soon as she hurts your nipple, take her off, and try again a little later. Don't really know though tbh.

sparkle101 · 06/09/2010 09:11

LCRLCR have you had a look / posted this on the post natal thread... quite a bit of discussion going on about BF and people struggling - support is amazing!

Chulita · 06/09/2010 11:37

lcr I second the bf thread suggestion. Sam fights with one side but I'm beginning to wonder if the letdown is stronger so he struggles a bit. That nipple is so painful but I'm not sure how to stop him wrestling...have you tried swaddling her? that at least stops Sam from pulling off and scratching/kneading.

Come on ladies! I am thinking of you, just don't get online much at the mo!

LilyPad72 · 06/09/2010 12:30

41 weeks and there's only so much more daytime TV I think I can take... :)

foxyjbro99 · 06/09/2010 12:43

has anyone heard from chickeno?

Poncherello · 06/09/2010 15:04

Hello all thanks Vita for keeping track of everyone.

Foxy hope the sweep does its work for you.

Hope those settling in with new babies are well and that the last few due are here asap.

All ok here, Marnie is just gorgeous and am completely in love, nipples sore but that's to be expected I suppose.

Going to swing over to the post natal thread now - see you there!

chickieno1 · 07/09/2010 11:09

hi ladies

I had a gorgeous baby boy on saturday at 1625 by emergency c section, 8lb1. induction started about midnight on fri with pg gel, had strong contractions all night but still only 2-3 cm dilated. Membranes ruptured at noon, loads of meconium so a bit worried at that stage. strong contractions for another couple of hours, gas and air as pain relief. still not dilating so plan was to go with synto drip. while getting epidural baby s heart rate dropped a few times so went for emerg c section. was a bit scary at the time but safest thing for baby and he s here now safe and sound and dh and i are over the moon :)Got home last night, have been breast feeding nonstop since :)

congrats to all the new arrivals and to the girlies waiting I know how miserable it is but all worth it!!!!!!

foxyjbro99 · 07/09/2010 11:57

congratulations chichieno1!

Nothing happening here, although bump seems to have dropped. I know this doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I'll take it as a good sign nonetheless!

Congratulations chickieno1 on your new baby Grin

LilyPad72 · 07/09/2010 15:14

Have just heard a fab piece of advice from the NCT lady who runs the local bumps and babies cafe thingy in the village - apparently having a glass of wine is one way of bringing on labour! Came straight home and put a bottle in the fridge! Sounds a much more pleasant method than some of the others people talk about - and certainly something I'm prepared to give a go! (4 of the other ladies from my NCT class were there - with their babies... Humph. Jealous. And they are all doing really well, looking healthy and calm, with beautiful, if sleepy, babies, and breast feeding 'mostly' OK, too. V Envy)

Vita - I think my bump has dropped a bit, too - certainly feels lower down - have kinda internal downwards pressure all the time the last day or so, IYSWIM. Otherwise still no 'signs' at all :( Still, am having acupuncture again tomorrow - so fingers crossed that might trigger something. Are you trying anything in particular, to encourage your LO, or just waiting it out?

Foxy - how did your sweep go? Do you think it worthwhile? Am not convinced myself... read so much stuff about it being uncomfortable and not necessarily productive.

vitapulchra · 07/09/2010 15:35

Lily I'm just waiting it out. I've tried going for walks, which I had been doing most of this pg, but I've pulled a muscle in my bottom and I absolutely cannot exercise any more. I've also tried lots of time on a birth ball but I can't see that it's done much. I've developed A LOT of pain in my pelvic floor about one week ago, which I think is just due to my size/weight. This rules out sex, which DH and I had been able to enjoy manage up til then. My severe heartburn means that hot curries and raspberry leaf tea are out. And I've recently become incontinent. Blush So honestly I'm just trying to leave the house as little as possible! I haven't tried finding an acupuncturist in this tiny, podunk island--think I'm too jaded at this point.

I was just joking with DH as I had a sip from his glass of wine last night, that if wine were good for inducing labour, I know every pg woman would be trying it! It's a lovely theory but sounds a bit far-fetched to be true. But still worth trying, I definitely would agree.

OP posts:
LilyPad72 · 07/09/2010 15:57

Sounds like you're having a fairly miserable time of it - here's hoping it doesn't last much longer. Apart from back ache, and being unable to sleep for more than about an hour at a time, and just being BORED - oh, and carpal tunnel meaning I've lost all feeling in my right hand and in a couple of fingers in my left - I'm not doing too badly, really - comparatively speaking - so, am happy for you to queue jump if you like!

foxyjbro99 · 07/09/2010 18:00

lily my sweep was uncomfortable, but it's got to be better than being induced!! I've had 2 so far, and apparently my cervix is still posterior and quite think. I'm gonna have another one tomorrow at 6
pm! Dh just bought me some fresh pineapple, I might test out the wine theory tonight!

vita I am v v v bored, house is getting more and more untidy, but all i seem to have the energy to do is sit on mn & undate the list :)

Anyway, i'm booked for an induction on Friday. So, the end is in sight, although would prefer for things to happen naturally.

lily and vita make sure you keep me updated if anything happens! x
