Hi everyone, congrats to the 2 new grads!
I had my scan yest, all fine. They decided to give me a sweep while I was there I wasn't expecting it!!
Anyway, cervix is posterior and unfavourable apparently :( so I have to go back on sunday for another sweep! Doesn't look like this baby is ready to meet the world just yet!

vita I can't believe you're overdue on the 4th time around.. poor you.

GYA--Perhaps it's just to keep me from getting too smug! Nothing at all happening since sweep yesterday. MW said I can call the ward this weekend and ask for another if they're not too busy. After the experiences of so many other overdue ladies here, I now believe there is nothing one can do to MAKE a baby come before it wants to. I will now try to enjoy my time and hope that I can avoid an induction.

How is every one else? Are you all quiet because you're busy giving birth? Where's my company??????

I had a good moan on the post natal thread this morning, but can hardly even remember why i was moaning now

The lovely ladies on the Shiney thread sent me a quilt that one of them had made with embroidered messages from them all on and a handmade card that another had made. So lovely, it made me cry

Foxy You and I seem to be in same situation. Now that this sweep has done nothing for me, I'm sceptical about having any success this weekend.

Or I could just be philosophical as my MIL keeps telling me: it'll come out some time! All that makes me think, though, is unprintable.

Dibbydab quickly pokes head into thread whilst jiggling 4 week old Felicity on knee and pulling funny faces (and funny faces not due to pain of stitches any longer, hip hip hooray!)

Hi vita, I'm so shocked my baby is not here yet! was convinced this one would be early. DD1 was 2 days early, but DD2 was 9 days late! I've got another sweep on Sunday, and that's when they'll give me a date for induction, but I'm hoping it will come naturally.
I was speaking to a lady who had 5 children the other day, 4 came naturally and she had to be induced for the 5th!!
If I have to be induced I 'll have to go to a different hosp from the one i'm booked into, also i'm a bit worried as dd1 starts year 1 on tuesday, and i want to take her :(

Foxy My DS1 and DD both started school yesterday. The other mums on the run were shocked to see me still pregnant. Was so hoping it would've happened in the summer so we could all adjust at home together, but oh well. I know how you feel b/c it seems so disruptive just when your other is starting school and you want to be there for them.

Is the other hospital much further away?

I've never really contemplated induction before and so badly want to avoid it. I won't be getting a date until well into next week, so maybe things will happen before then. Hope it happens for you!

At the end of term I said goodbye to all the mom's, and they said - see you in sept with the baby !! Think everyone will be v shocked if i turn up with a bump instead of a baby!
The other hosp is about 40 mins away, whereas the unit i'm booked into is 5 mins away!
I'm thinking something WILL happen this weekend

I checked on Doodley--she's had her baby a little while ago and has been posting lots of other places, but not here! I'll move her over and see if she comes to tell us about her LO.

Well done Nat! Sounds like you had a great if eventful and a bit painful birth . We had to transfer to hospital too with Daniel but it didn't take the shine off the hb.

If your stitches are sore try tea tree oil in your bath, you can get from tesco. The MWS prob told you not to put anything in your bath but I found TTO to be wonderful and very healing (baths were great too).

Just want to say a quick huge congrats to all the new mummies! & yay marzi my due date buddy, glad ur there at last - enjoy :o) just goes to show how unreliable 'due dates' are as we had the same one yet our littuns ended up being born a month apart!

I second what was said abt how lovely & soothing baths are after giving birth so make sure to add running you baths to DPs 'caring for mummy' list of jobs. I used to have 2/3 a day! All the midwives told me to add lavendar oil to the water to help with healing too :o)

can't believe no one had their baby on my birthday, 29 august! congrats to all the new arrivals!

congratulations to everyone who has delivered in the last few days, I hope you're recovering well.

Quick birth story: I had a sweep on tuesday and my waters broke about 6pm. Went into hospital about 8pm to get checked and was starting to get some tightenings. They kept me in cos I have group B strep. Checked me about midnight, fully effaced but not at all dilated. Put me on syntocinon drip about 1am, contractions got very painful and i was all shaky and tense so they gave me some pethidine (lovely stuff). They examined me sometime in the morning (i forget) and I was only 2-3cm dilated and really struggling. Was looking like i'd have to have cs but they gave me an epidural and then a few hours later i was fully dilated! Pushed him out in about 40 mins, 2nd degree tear but recovering well.

To those of you scared of induction - I was too but overall I feel like it was a good birth (I needed the pain relief though!).
Good luck - all our babies will be here soon!

I put lavender in my bath too after reading that it can help heal. Smells a bit less 'medical' than tea tree oil too.

I use both lavender and tea tree together, best of both worlds :)

Hey everyone! congrats to all the mums...we did it woop woop!

Sorry for not advising sooner but Baby Cameron was born on 29th August at 5.29 and he was 8lb 1 oz. He is absolutely beautiful and we are having cuddles now! Piccies on facebook!

Birth was a bit of a trauma... 18 hour 2nd stage, high bp, taken into theatre for cesearian as not dilated and then suddenly was so turned into a forceps. Oh and 4th degree tear!

Still hes so totally worth it. Piccies on facebook! I will add swome on here if I can figure out how

Good luck with a sweep tomorrow, Foxy. I wasn't able to have one today so am hoping I can tomorrow instead. Otherwise I have to wait until well into next week to see the consultant.

Vita how come you couldn't have your sweep?
I've just got back from mine, wasn't as bad as the last one, although cervix was still posterior and thick. Sweep was sucessful though, unlike last time, so maybe something will happen. Although I've been told the unit will be closed tonight 8pm - 8am, so if anything does happen I will have to go to a different hosp!!
Got induction date - next fri - hope i don't go that far x
