vix206 · 30/08/2010 07:55

Emster30 · 30/08/2010 08:32

ElusiveMoose · 30/08/2010 08:34

Oh Vix, poor you. Hang in there. Only a little while to go now. Must be so horrid for you, though. Thinking of you today. xx

Aussieng · 30/08/2010 09:08

Replied on previous thread vix. Xxx

Aussieng · 30/08/2010 09:10

Congratulations on all the new deliveries over the holiday weekend - that's what I call progress!!!

CellyD · 30/08/2010 09:44

Poor you Vix, hope they are taking good care of you at the hospital.

SmilerJane · 30/08/2010 12:09

Poor you vix... I am shocked at the way hospitals treat ladies in labour recently! I hope induction goes well and quick and soon to have your baba in your arms.. Hope now your there and things going smoothly XX (((HUGS))) Thinking of ya

vix206 · 30/08/2010 12:48

Right, had exam and was really shocked to hear that I am still only 1cm dilated and cervix still long and quite hard. Forewaters hadn't gone so they did the crochet hook thing about an hour ago and have now said they need to get me on the drip in half an hour or so. Not half as scared as I was, the staff are lovely, dh is bring wonderful and it has finally dawned on me that I will have a baby at the end of this!

Alicetheinvisible · 30/08/2010 13:00

Vix so glad things are better than they were this morning. You say you are only 1cm, but that is progress, so things are starting by themselves, you just need a bit of help along the way. Good luck with it all and i expect we will hear some good news very soon Smile

bouncingblueberries · 30/08/2010 13:27

Good luck vix! glad to hear you're being looked after and can't wait to hear that you have your baby safely snuggled in your arms.

vix206 · 30/08/2010 13:28

I was just sad that I was 1-2 cm last Monday and have had so many tightenings I was sure I'd be more dilated by now. Got my canula in now just waiting for drip to be hooked up. Quite calm at the mo! X

babyducky · 30/08/2010 15:20

Good luck vix :)

marzipananimal · 30/08/2010 17:40

good lcuk vix and happy cuddles :)

I've got a reflexologist coming round in a bit so hopefully that might get something going. Think I had a show this morning although there was no trace of blood in it. Really hope baby comes soon!
Anyone else with any signs? Haven't heard from doodley for a while have we?

DH and I were wondering what would happen if the baby is born at midnight on 31st August. Would you get to choose its birthday? Is it the time the head comes out, or the feet, or when the cord is cut?

girlsyearapart · 30/08/2010 18:12

think it's when the whole baby comes out marzi

Chulita · 30/08/2010 18:15

Good luck vix!

marzipan I had reflexology and it was so relaxing - fingers crossed something gets started :)

can't believe there's only 10 left to go!

aendr · 30/08/2010 18:46

Hello all,

I seem to have been missed off the list in the transition from the last thread to this :(

Heather Aruni was born on Thursday after induction, 6lb7.5oz. I got one dose of gel and had a couple of waddles around the hospital. My labour took apparently 1h30 - but the actual main bit of labour was only 8 minutes. I went from silent contractions (really, we all thought they were braxton hicks) through transition to needing to push in around 10 minutes. The cord was tight around her neck, which delayed things for a minute while it was cut. It is SO hard not pushing. She's fine though. I have lots of stitches and grazes all over the place as a result of the speed.

We started off breastfeeding well - she knows what to do unlike her mother - and her sugars all remained okay. But somehow we can't get a decent latch at all now we're home and I'm sore everywhere. I can't sit for long due to both the stitches and the coccyx injury from my firstborn, which makes breastfeeding even harder, and my nipples hurt so much I automatically pull away instead of letting her latch. It's a real struggle to continue and I'm currently expressing (as that hurts less) and we're bottle feeding her. I feel so useless. I kind of feel I'm letting the side down as she knows what to do but trying to continue is probably not the best thing for the whole family but the guilt and the feeling of failure is so very strong. Add on baby-blues and tiredness (which I don't cope with well) and I'm in tears half the time and feel I can't enjoy her the rest.

Chulita · 30/08/2010 19:52

aendr congratulations! I love the name :) Just remember you are around the 5 days post-birth when everything seems a million times worse/more painful (not that I'm negating how fricking painful a bad latch is!) Whatever you choose to do re feeding, a happy mum is better than a knackered/worn out mum. You're not useless at all, you're expressing for her and you've already given her 4 days of the good stuff which is brilliant! Is there a bf group you could get to for help? The pain does ease and if you can concentrate on the latch it will get better. I hope you get all the support you need in RL regardless of how you choose to feed little Heather. [hugs]

vitapulchra · 30/08/2010 20:16

Congratulations aendr and my apologies about the list--I've updated it now with your and Heather's details. Very glad you had a speedy delivery and that Heather was all right despite such a scare with the cord. You should read through some of the recent discussions on our last thread about breastfeeding as you may find you're in good company. Lots of women struggle with the pain and difficulty as well as the guilt. Hope you're able to enjoy your LO more soon and feel better.

Congratulations aendr!!

wrt feeding, i found a mini bag of maltesers helped me get through the early feeds - suck really hard as they latch on, have since read on mn about people who have used marshmallows and toffees for the same purpose! I expressed with DD as BF wasn't happening and i don't think she suffered from it. If you are happy expressing then carry on, you may be able to try BF again in a few weeks if you wish. You are making sure your child is provided for, no one expects more than that, stop giving yourself a hard time and try to enjoy your newborn baby Smile [and sneaky hugs]

foxyjbro99 · 30/08/2010 20:34

Just marking my place.
Good luck Vix!! I've really lost confidence in my midwives, so can understand a bit of what you are feeling - sounds like everything moving in the right direction now though!
Only got 1 more day to go & then we'll be into another school year!! Does anyone know what the cut off point is? I always thought it was 31st aug, but someone told me today it was 6th sept?

isheisnthe · 31/08/2010 05:39

OUCH!!! I have a scab on my nipple - was just feeding beanie (still no name0!) and wen I looked down his face was covered in blood - my blood from my nipple - its killing - not even sure there is any milk there, although they are feeling like its coming - what shall I do - it is all so painful. That coupled with the fact that I have checked out my stitches and got DH to look and there is a MASSIVE exra lump stitched outside my vagina - the midwife tried to call a consultant to stitch (or someone senior) as she said it was a bad tear but they were busy - so I think she just thought she would do her bed - it is awful :-( what can I do?

Its also very painful and still lots of bright red blood.
