Ishe I'm not very knowledgeable about either of your problems but if you think there's any chance whatsoever that your stitches are infected do get it checked out immediately! It's not been that long yet but I would think there should be some healing by now. So sorry you're in that much pain.

Hello - I seem to have been missed from the list on transfer as well - please put me back on!

Congratulations to all the new mums - what a collection of classy names we have all round!

2 days overdue now - and no signs or symptoms of arrival at all. So far, I can cope with that, but can feel my patience starting to erode at the edges - just feel so FAT and BORED!

OK - off to the GP for a check up now.

Alicetheinvisible · 31/08/2010 15:43

Foxy it is the 31st Aug/1st sept cutoff in england. My birthday is the 6th and although that was usually around when we went back, there were people in my year a day or two older.

Ishe I had the same problem. LANSINOH! It really works, don't let your nipples dry out as they scab and re-open, cover with Lansinoh and put a breast pad on, keeps them soft and they heal much better (like wounds in your mouth)

Fed Fred in the middle of Starbucks this morning. Needed to have something to eat (left without my breakfast) and he started crying just before we went in. Looked for a table or armchair tucked out of the way - nothing, only the ones right by the counter all ok though, just put a cellular blanket over my shoulder and F's head and it was fine. Felt really proud of myself afterwards Blush

Birth announcement Grin

Dara Christopher Gerard, born 12:07 on Mon 30th August

Labour was epic! Kicked off on Saturday morning at 7am and no baby until 53 hours later lol But he's perfect!! Good luck to all still in the waiting room, worth every minute of waiting xx

weehector · 31/08/2010 18:32

Vix? Viiiiix? Is there finally a baby?

Congrats Snowshine & everyone else I've missed whilst lurking during feeds. See y'all in post-natal x

Emster30 · 31/08/2010 18:38

congratulations littlemisssnowshine! what a marathon!

and also to vix - i see on facebook she has finally had her baby.

vix206 · 31/08/2010 18:49

There is ! I haven't posted as stuck in hosp with iPhone and tbh the story of my labour is very traumatic. I will wait until we've all popped before telling but what I can say is that I lost 2L of blood at the end of it and it was all a bit scary. Feeling very spaced out still tho no sleep for 45 hours doesng help that! Alexander David is perfect though and weighs in at 8lb9oz. He is very healthy and chilled out despite the problems I had with labour. We are in for tonight at least to keep eye on my blood, sad to see dh go home without us. Second degree tearing so all stitched and feel a but demolished down there. Alexander feeds like a pro!

I had a 23 hour labour with no epidural, just paracetamol and gas and air - induced on drip. Would recommend epidural if asked to give opinion. Would have been much easier for me.

vitapulchra · 31/08/2010 21:33

Congratulations LMSS and Vix! Sounds like neither of you had the easiest of times, esp. Vix, very sorry to hear that. Hope you're recovering well and enjoying sweet cuddles with your little boys.

LilyPad, my apologies. Also I think I can begin to commiserate with you about going overdue Sad. After 3 pg's, all delivered quickly and naturally well before duedates, I was convinced this one would be the same. Will see mw tomorrow for my first ever overdue check!

Congratulations LMSS and Vix.

Vix - enjoy the remote control hospital bed while you can. With stitches, you will miss it once you go home!

And then there were 9....

Aussieng · 31/08/2010 22:19

Ishe - is it just swelling? I basically had something like a testicle between my vag and my butt hole (sorry way TMI but don't know how else to explain) for about 2 weeks. IT was pretty amazing in a truly gross way and it did go down! I was advised to put an ice pack on it for 20 mins each day and to sit as little as possible (do the people who make these recommendations actually have children to look after???)

Aussieng · 31/08/2010 22:21

Alice - well done on the bf. I use starbucks quite a lot as they have a good bf policy but it is not always best set out - I am getting used to it now and quite happily sit in the window doing it - as you say a little blanket over the shoulder tucked into your bra strap works just fine.

Poncherello · 31/08/2010 23:03

Hooray Vix and LMSS! Smile

Well I'm due at the labour ward to check in for my section at 7am tomorrow. Bag slightly adjusted for non spontaneous arrival of the little one and hoping for a speedy stay and back home in record time.

See you all on the other side!

xxxxx

Alicetheinvisible · 01/09/2010 08:23

Congratulations Vix and littlemiss sorry you have both had rough times Sad but yay for lovely babies Smile

Poncherello if they say you can go home after 24hrs, seriously think about staying in another night. Coping in hospital was one thing, coping without the electric bed, having to go upstairs to the loo etc was very hard and my first afternoon home i was curled up on the sofa sobbing as in so much pain and unable to move, then suffering the injustice of not being able to blow my nose because it hurt! The cs was fine and i have recovered well, just not my best thought out plan going home only 24hrs afterwards. Good luck with it all Smile

foxyjbro99 · 01/09/2010 09:18

Congrats Vix and littlemiss x
going in for a scan today!! baby hasn't been moving much and although they have been monitoring me & everything is fine, they want to do a scan as a precaution! so looks like i'll be seeing baby today if only on a tv screen!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 01/09/2010 10:49

Good luck poncherello and foxy!

Like vix, I did have a pretty scary and rough time of it - 53 hours in labour will do that to you I suppose, lol, but the last few hours in particular were pretty scary for everyone involved.

They let me go home yesterday anyway tho and our families have been brilliant, bringing us lovely home cooked food, pressies for the baby and lots of moral support. Really enjoying just being at home, chilling out, getting to know baby. So excited for you last few ladies still waiting to pop - not long to go now!!

neenz · 01/09/2010 11:34

littlemiss, wow 53hrs! any More details? did u have vaginal delivery in end then?

Vix, congrats, well done! sorry u had traumatic time, but glad all worked out well in end. Well done u for not having epidural, i wanted one and it was only painful for about 3hrs!

chickieno1 · 01/09/2010 11:45

Congratulations little miss and vix!

Good luck ponchorello and foxy!

Still here, attempted sweep yesterday but no joy :( Cervix still very high and posterior at 41+3 so doesn't look good. Booked for induction on friday :(

Had reflexology last night though so trying to stay positive that something hasppens naturally before friday but not sure whether my cervix will cooperate :)

soontobefatnat · 01/09/2010 17:59

Hi all, not sure if anyone's checking this thread much anymore, so will quickly post on both - I went into labour at about 2.30pm on Sunday and by the time the MW arrived at 8.00, I was 5cm and could get into the pool. Felt so great! Eli Albert was born at 3.24am, somewhat unglamorously on our bathroom floor - the MW made me get out of the pool as it was slowing things down. He came out in a real rush in the end, with his hand up by his head... OMFG. It hurt so much, I have not forgotten! Unfortunately ended up with 2 tears and lost 1L of blood, so ended up transferring to hospital at about 5am for stitching etc. Feel well chuffed to have had the birth at home tho. He's amazing, and I think we're doing OK with bf for now... Keeping fingers crossed. Still wobbly on my feet and in a bit of pain downstairs, but all worth it. Love to all the recent new mums, plus the ladies still waiting. Will be back in the land of the living soon! X

Bubbabear · 01/09/2010 19:41

Foxy school year does run from 1st Sept to 31st Aug so any little bubs born now will be in the next school year. Speaking of which, my maternity leave finally feels like it's started now (even tho Aidan will be a month old tomorrow!!), as all other teachers I work with went back to work today & everyone else plus kids will be tomorrow :o) Is kinda weird as it's the first Sept I've not been at school when term starts but I'm sure I'll get used to it!

Congrats nat !! and everyone who's progressed out of the waiting room. So great u managed ur home birth, not nice about the tearing. I had a 2nd degree tear & found that the hardest thing to get over. Remember thinking I could handle the exhaustion if only I wasn't in constant pain! Plus all the midwives / health visitors constantly going on abt how important pelvic floor exercises are didn't help! I couldn't even feel anything move down there for best part of a week let alone religiously do pelvic floor!!! Seriously tho, does pass & you will return to normal quicker than you think :)

Haven't had a chance to get on here much recently so haven't checked onto the postnatal thread yet. Will have to get reading!

Will still pop on here to cheer on the last of us to the finish line tho! Grin

girlsyearapart · 01/09/2010 20:11

congrats nat- enjoy him Grin

vitapulchra · 01/09/2010 20:55

Congratulations, Soontobefatnat! Glad you had your homebirth despite the drama at the end. Very happy for you and Eli.

My fab mw offered me a sweep today instead of waiting until next week, and I accepted with alacrity. Never had one before and it wasn't bad at all--she says I'm half-effaced so hopefully things will start off soon, or at least by themselves. Here's hoping!

Thinking of Poncherello and Foxy and hoping all is going well.
