Thanks, Ladies - you are all so wonderful and supportive. Amazing how many of you (or your OHs) have been through similar nonsense at work. lilmiss, is your DH happy in his new job?
Kinda feels good knowing it wasn't my imagination, nothing to do with my competency, and this was their long-game. I'll discuss with my union rep, though so far (prior to this written confirmation and request for volunteers), the union reps have all been adamant it will never come to this, and they will fight any plans for VR. Don't really see how they can, and anyway, I really would be happy to go now. Just got to see if they'll offer me a great package. I don't want to be greedy, but I have to protect my rights, and I do think screw 'em for how they treated me, after all my long and good service. And the real stress they put me through, ESPECIALLY at this vulnerable time when I am pregnant. How dare they!
Is there a 'normal' in redundancy packages? I have no clue, I'll look into it, but the few friends I have who've been made redundant seem to get a month's salary for every year they've been there. So that, on top of my maternity pay and I'm going to suggest they pay me for a second round of maternity pay seeing as we'll be trying for no.2 quickly, yes, I think I'd be ok with that. Though I guess I have to also consider pension provision/loss? Ach, my head now hurts!

moonstorm, glad things were ok for you at work today.

nymph, I bought some new trainers (bargain, £15), a size up from usual, and with velcro straps! It helps when I don't fancy the flip-flops (my feet get so grubby, I don't like it!), but yes, for the most part, I am in flip-flops!
Had laser hair removal a few years back, so don't need to worry about shaving my legs - hurrah!

Shieldbug, thanks, still don't think Baby Fab has had hiccups, unless I've been asleep for them! Maybe though, and I just can't tell.

tf, I did 20 lengths today too - and I haven't been in over a week! Only a short pool though (18m) so nothing too strenuous. I do 10 breast stroke, 10 front crawl, then I get some floats and float back and forth for a few lengths (but they don't count as lengths!). Think I deserve a hot chocolate too, now you mention it - to go with my ginger nut biscuits.

moonstorm, lovely idea! :) I am torn between thinking we'll be early: my mum has three children, I was first, five days early, then my brother who was 15 days early then my other brother who was 10 days early, so if that is anything to go by, we deliver early in this family! Think DH was pretty much on time! Which is funny, as I am a bit anal about getting places on time, to the extent I like to be early, whereas DH is very laid-back and happy to be there right on the dot of time! Anyway, I digress! I am due 4th October, DH and I are both born on the 22nds of our months, so 22nd September for this baby would be lovely! 23rd is the full moon, so if that's got anything to do with anything, it could be starting things early for us around 22nd. Though I do really like the idea of landing on 10/10/10, and though I am dated EDD 4th, I actually think they are wrong, as I know for a fact we didn't conceive when that puts us at, it was at least a few days later, so 10th October would be not very late, going by my own idea of dates! Going to put 10/10/10, because it is such a fab date!

So ok, with nymph knowing her date, let's put predictions for dates if we don't know, set dates if we do, and weight predictions for all:
Moonstorm: EDD 14/10/10 - as I am planning for this to be early... My prediction - 21/10/10
AbFab: EDD 04/10/10 - My prediction/hope 10/10/10. Weight: 7lb 7.
Nymph: Weight: 7lb 12

My EDD from the scan is 5th but based on date I ovulated it's 7th, so I reckon that's a likely date. DH is hoping for the 10th of course, but I'm kinda hoping not to go that far over, although i know it is very likely!

I've bought raspberry leaf tea and the capsules too today, just gotta work out how much I'm supposed to have! Anyone else taking any yet?

I finished work today :)

Great idea! I'm the same as you AbfabT I know for a fact that the scan dates are out! Re raspberry leaf tea Jennimoo I got told at my NCT class, start with a cup every couple of days from 34 weeks ramping up to 5 per day at due date time.

In my family babies tend to arrive on time or only slightly early or late so based on that and the fact that my sister was early and I was on time and on when I know we BD'd and that my last scan predicted a little 'un:

Moonstorm: EDD 14/10/10 - as I am planning for this to be early... My prediction - 21/10/10

Hello, i rang the gp's as dh had took my car keys to work and i couldnt get to the mw drop in clinic, had to wait for gp to ring me back who then saw me in her break. My BP is slightly high and pulse is fast but urine is clear so ive been told to keep an eye on myself? Im feeling abit better now and got dh to come home early from work to help with ds so i can try and relax abit. Thank you for asking after me x

dontstopmenow · 06/09/2010 17:27

Oh dear - I don't seem to have the brain cells to join in the sweepstake today. Just got home from 5 days in hospital with high blood pressure :(
Got taken in on Thursday after a midwife appointment and never left! I now have medication to keep a lid on it otherwise I suspect I would be singing like a kettle.
They did lots of trace things of the babies heart rate whilst I was there and the baby at least is very happy.

I was most worried about that to be honest as DS was rather early.
36 weeks today so have gone over a week past when DS was born so its all looking good today.
Now have community midwife visiting every day and weekly consultant appointments to check blood pressure so at least they are keeping an eye on me.
Have tried to catch up on news and scanned - sorry for the others having a difficult last bit of pregnancy - thinking of you all. It was torture not being able to post whilst in hospital :)

lauzb · 06/09/2010 17:37

Hi all, am new to MN, and just stumbled across this!

Am due on 7/10/10, am reliably informed by nice man at hospital that it is a girl (but he of course could only be 70% sure on that to cover his arse)

Have forgotten how uncomfortable this last stretch is, its been six years since I had my DS, but don't remember being this achy and knackered last time round!

Anyway, thought I would pop on here and say hi, so HI!

Sorry to see some of you are having a really rough time of it - makes me feel bad for moaning really....!

Good news tyson!

Can someone put me down for the 5/10/10 (i'm on my phone) and 7lb 4oz, i know my due date is 25/10 but both me and Dh were early and my Mum never went over her due dates and so far I seem to take after her for the most part. Plus I just sort of get the feeling i'll be early as well.

moonstorm · 06/09/2010 19:46

Do you mind if I put us in order of prediction? If anyone thinks another order would be best, feel free to alter! (And add my weight) I was over 9 lb and dh was just under, so I?m going for big Confused

I've just been browsing the September thread... It's got me quite excited - we're next in line! Can't believe the end is in sight!!! Grin Shock Grin

moonstorm i thought i was the only one stalking that thread Grin So close now for us now!

tiredfeet · 06/09/2010 22:45

I have been stalking that thread too recently in the last few days Grin , so excited for them all and it helps me get my head round how close it is now.

have added my prediction. The midwife said I had a 'big healthy baby' at last appointment (DH thought that was great, I just thought 'ouch'!), so if its over due too, I'm expecting a properly hefty baby

Tyson, glad you are ok.

Dontstopmenow that must have been a bit of a shock, not being allowed home! I hope your BP behaves itself and you are getting lots of rest. Well done for getting past ds's date. You've only got a week to go till full-term so hang in there. Were you at UHW by the way? I see that's your delivery hospital?

Hello lauzb.

Ok, I have a question for the SPD sufferers. Last Tuesday I very stupidly, rather than leaving DP to do it, hoicked my mother's bag out of the back footwell of the car where it had been squashed for the journey back from holiday, and pulled a muscle right at the top of my inner thigh/groin area, as I thought. Nearly a week on, it seems to be getting worse and today the strain/pain was more around the front of the pelvis or inner hip area. I read my pregnancy book and it said SPD could be caused by inappropriate lifting. Does that sound at all like it could be it? I'm trying not to be paranoid, but this "pulled muscle" thing isn't going away very quickly. I'm cursing myself for being so stupid whatever. Putting weight on one leg does make it worse.

We went to enrol DS for nursery today and he got to stay for a while and play there before I took him to creche. He starts properly a week on Wednesday. I have to admit to welling up a little bit as we were in the classroom and he was playing with some toys. It took me right back to primary school - I can't believe my little boy is starting the whole process. It's going to be so strange having him at something every morning.

Afterwards, once I'd had lunch and a lie-down, we went out shopping, trying to get a Moses basket. DP got quite frustrated with me because we saw one in Babies'r'us which ticked all the boxes of being well made, had a hood etc, but had a blue cover, and I just wasn't keen on getting blue. It's not so much because I think, oh gosh if it's a girl that'll never do, more because I just prefer lighter colours for things like that generally. They had one lot of covers I did like, but that one came without a hood, and I do want one. I'd previously looked in Mothercare for one, and at some nightwear for me and clothing, and then realised I have a pile of vouchers which I'd left at home so it would have been stupid buying anything there... Doh. However, I did get my Lansinoh and I feel soooo much better now I have that at hand! We also got DS a present in Toysrus that will be from the baby, so you know, nowhere for it to sleep but DS will be happy....Grin. I do feel better for having looked at baskets though, and I've seen one online I may go for now. When he's in creche tomorrow afternoon I 'm going out shopping for clothes for me again - now that the weather has turned I really don't have much to wear! I'm trying to find long-sleeved nursing tops which are acceptable for now too as there's not much point getting just ordinary mat tops unless they are very cheap.

I have to admit to being a bit scared of naming a delivery date after last time. It will feel like tempting fate, which is ridiculous I know. So I think I'm just going to be boring and put my due date down. As this baby is measuring three weeks ahead apparently, I think I'd better err on the side of heavier rather than lighter too.

I have my breastfeeding workshop in the morning. Really looking forward to it!

Morning all.

Floozie LOL at that'll never do! I know what you mean about the colours. In any event, I bought some hooded towels in blue as I was sick of white and my mum know thinks I know i'm having a boy and not telling her, just because I bought some towels!

I can't comment on the SPD thing but take it easy.

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better Tyson. Don'tstopmeknow gosh! I don't know what I'd do with myself if I had an unexpected hospital stay, there'd be all the faff over domestics etc! It would really cheese me off if it were over a weekend!

Welcome Lauzb not long for you now! Exactly a month!

shieldbug · 07/09/2010 11:04

tyson glad to hear you were able to get checked out. Hope you have the chance to relax more today.

lauzb welcome!

dontstopmenow poor you- I imagine being in hospital for that time wasn't much fun. Well done for getting to 36 weeks and as others have said, only one week to go until you are at full term. Wow- scary thought.

tiredfeet hope your baby isn't too hefty!

floozie sorry to hear you are in pain. I know nothing about SPD but it might be worth mentioning to the mw to see if you can get physio (regardless of the cause of your pain). Well done on another week over your ds' birth date, here's hoping you've ages to go yet.

elsa I got so fed up with boring colours I knitted sproglet a bright blue cardie and hat with darker speckles in. I think it looks great and will do for a boy or a girl. I wouldn't do it the other way round though and possibly condemn a boy to wearing pink! Mind you, I don't really like pink so won't buy much in that colour even if sproglet is a girl.

Hmmm... what about predicted dates? I reckon lack of space will make sproglet early (v common with fibroids). Mum reckons it will be a September birth, but this would be over 2 weeks early (secretly I think it may be the 29th Sept, no idea why). I also fancy 10/10/10 so will put that down in hope rather than anticipation. No idea about weight so will chicken out of that guess.

Tyson and tiredfeet My sister is on the September thread! I won't tell you who she is but she's overdue by a few days now so is desperate to have the baby. I've been keeping an eye on it all too!

I haven't had an appointment for a few weeks because of moving house - but I do have one on Thursday. I might wait until then so see if I can get any ideaof weight etc, although I'm fairly sure this will actually be a November baby as I'm due the 27th and babies in my family tend to come late! If it comes on bonfire night it will be mine and DH's 5 year anniversary of getting together which would be quite sweet!

Elsa123 · 07/09/2010 12:50

Rats, damnation and hells teeth....the only girls name I've chosen thats survived the shotlist conversation with DH (the other 2 are his choices) when combined with our surname is the same name as a playboy centerfold, light porn actress and testifier at OJ Simpson's trial (all the same person). Its not a famous name, but I'd hate someone to google it when she's older and take the mick. Its sooo annoying as its a name I've loved for 15 years now. Of course this might all be solved by having a boy.... but still....damn!

Got a little worried earlier- the baby kicked awake when my alarm went off at 0600 (the baby sleeps at night i think it gets my sleep hormones). This always happens, then I get no movement until 10 and then it wriggles away until about 10 at night when I go to sleep again. It makes me laugh that the baby wakes suddenly with the alarm, which doesn't surprise me as its one of those alarms that is so awful it makes your eyes snap open in the morning. Anyway I digress. I'd felt nothing by 1115 (very unusual but yes I know I'm probably over anxious!) and i was feeling rather comfy- again unusual. So I necked a bottle of very cold water, a kit kat and satsuma and sure enough got 15 kicks, prods and rolls in 30 mins. Phew! its amazing how worrying it is and i couldn't get any work done until I'd got some kicks.

shieldbug · 07/09/2010 13:03

elsa I wouldn't worry about the name being the same as this interesting (!) woman's. People probably won't make the connection at all, and tbh if anyone is going to take the mick, they'll always find something to do so about. Having said that, I just put in sproglet's possible names and surname to check and phew, there's no-one dodgy that matches. In fact, there's someone who campaigned against slavery (not at all well-known cos I'd never heard of him) that has the same boy's name, so that's good. Now all I have to do is check that the initials don't stand for anything too comical/ rude/ embarrassing!

shieldbug · 07/09/2010 13:04

Sorry elsa also meant to say I'm glad you eventually got lots of kicks. I get worried if I've felt nothing for a while too.

jennimoo · 07/09/2010 13:13

Elsa- I've just googled my names too, as I'd be tempted to change if I found something like that, but hadn't thought of it!
