I'm sure people wouldn't make the instant connection, but these days its so common to google someone that I think it may be best to leave it!

jennimoo · 07/09/2010 14:53

Just found out that one of the girls from my nct class, who had her baby on Friday, hasn't been able to being him home yet as he has a heart problem that needs surgery, but is stable at the mo. Combined with the fact someone else left our course when she found out her LO wasn't going to make it I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, but trying not to dwell on it.

At least I have my MW appointment in a bit so I know baby is going to be checked over.

AbFabT · 07/09/2010 15:25

Welcome, lauzb. Have you added yourself to the stats page? Get posting lots! :)

Elsa, shame about the name - it WOULD put me off. I wouldn't want to Google myself and share my name with anyone who dominates the search results, let alone a porn actress! I know someone could share their name and THEN become famous, not a lot you can do about that, but for me, to know in advance, would be a sign not to go ahead!
Our names are safe, the only potential issue would be if we go ahead and name our daughter with our current favourite name, there is a famous person with the first name, which is fine, but it might rule out her marrying someone if they have that surname! With our surname, no issue though!

Sorry to hear about the two people in your group, jennimoo. :( Don't dwell on it. I've had a couple of sad stories told to me, and you just can't think negatively or you'll despair. Ok to be aware that it's not always plain sailing, but do try not to dwell. x

I have my date! 7/10! Will be 38+1. Saw consultant this am and she thinks it will be better for me to get the baby out.
Actual phrase was 'Baby is cooking nicely but Mum is overdone already'.I had been waiting 2 hours on awful hospital chairs by then so wasnt particularly comfy! I got the last slot on that day so I'm glad I insisted on her rather than the registrar. I'm now on weekly appointments too but she said I can see hospital MWs for the next 2.

After the hospital I went to see my friend who is going to be induced tonight, she was v nervous & baby is still v lively as we were sat watching her stomach move for ages!

sam12 · 07/09/2010 17:12

Elsa I hadn't thought of that but just googled and our names look safe!

Jenimoo that is sad. Is a scary time as so much can go wrong but you have to try and keep it in perspective as odds are things will be fine

Nymph that is exciting knowing your date!! Hope that it all goes well for your friend.

Have found out that my nephew is being christened on the 17/10, my due date is 11/10, which is a bit close for comfort! I won't be devastated if I miss it and I know my brother would understand but they have asked my dh to be godfather and so he is desperate to get there!!

Tyson86 · 07/09/2010 17:27

Nymph congrats on getting your date :)

DillyDora · 07/09/2010 17:55

Well done nymph and lol at the consultants' dry wit! I find that sort of thing quite comforting for some reason.

Sorry about the name Elsa I don't think anyone will look it up, and anyway, kids can always find something to tease about.

Jenimoo Sad I'm finding myself v nervy just now too, so near and yet so far!

Hellooo everyone else

nymphadora · 07/09/2010 18:11

Dilly-consultant is brilliant like that. Early on when I was doped up she asked dh if I ' used to be normal '.
She is v straight talking & doesn't fuss.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 08/09/2010 06:46

Grin she sounds brilliant :)

Morning all, I'm up with a poorly boy after a rough night for both of us, I am so uncomfortable!

I got my pushchair- battered but cheap p+t sport to go with my sling/Jane combo. Clothes are getting organized so now need to find space for them.

I have a sense of urgency about everything which is freaky, so sweepstake : ( can someone add to list my iPhone)

Started packing baby bag this morning, so far have nappies , cotton wool & am washing the baby clothes. What else do I need?

RooBear · 08/09/2010 11:02

Does your hospital provide bottles and formula nymph in case you need it? Blanket?

Hermya321 · 08/09/2010 11:05

Congrats on getting your date Nymph.

Sorry this isn't a longer post, just sneaking on really. I hope all is well for everyone!!

sam12 · 08/09/2010 11:33

I've got a blanket and towel as well nymph- and bibs.
I am feeling very hormonal today so moan alert I'm afraid. I am bored out of my mind am still at work but just basically watching my replacement do my job- and not very well I'd rather just do it myself. Still got lots to do on the house and I can't get stuck in, was hoping to paint kitchen today but dh just sent ne a message to say the plaster isn't dry enough- I nearly cried!! Am sick to death of living at in laws house. I know I should be enjoying the rest but I am going out of my mind!!! Sorry just needed to get that off my chest.
Hope everyone else well

nymphadora · 08/09/2010 13:43

Don't plan on need formula and can send dh for some if it goes drastically wrong. dd2 went practically 2 days with v little (long story!)and they weren't concerned. They have the little bottles you screw a teat on still anywayas I saw them on my tour. Blankets are in the wash too so will add one later. Not bothering with bibs, never bothered last time as when she threw up she threw up and a bib was just another thing covered! Doesn't actually seem to be a lot for baby.

Going to have to get a move on with car seat hunting though aren't I since we both need to test seats in our cars and have to go to the next town.

My bag I need nighties, knickers, pads, breast pads , bras (need to buy still, probably online),towel, wash stuff. Anything else?

As you can see I like to travel light!!!

nymphadora · 08/09/2010 13:53

oh dressing gown & flip flops too

piesey · 08/09/2010 14:28

Nymph - I've not packed yet and haven't been through birth yet but some suggestions I've are:

  • Bathroom wipes in case the toilet/bathroom isn't clean
  • snacks for you and DH
  • jug/water bottle to help whe you go to the loo the first time after giving birth (not looking forward to this!)
  • Magazine/books in case you need them
  • camera!

Hope these help!

nymphadora · 08/09/2010 14:35

c-section so I won't need the jug (apparantly its v good though Wink)
Will need book/mags for waiting for the op, mags are better after.
Will have my phone (never parted from it!)& use that for pics (and emails!).

piesey · 08/09/2010 15:03

Ah yes forgot you were having a C-section - must remember to engage brain before posting!

Elsa123 · 08/09/2010 15:17

I shall keep an eye on this as I plan to sort both mine and the baby's stuff out on Monday. I'm in a really can't be bothered stage at the moment. I have no motivation....

2 more days left at work and they're both no full days as I have a scan tomorrow afternoon and we're leaving work early on Friday to have a leaving lunch for me.

Congratulations on getting your CS date Nymph. Genuine curiosity and not to alarm you, but whats the score if you go into labour before that date?

Things I would add to the bag:
Toiletries including:
Hairbrush and bands if applicable.
Make up for looking and feeling presentable.
Moisturiser and lipbalm for face and hands etc.
A small hand mirror.

Socks- you may get cold feet as your blood may be concentrated at the scar site.
Earplugs and eyemask.

dontstopmenow · 08/09/2010 15:41

Having just spent time on a maternity ward, I can second that earplugs and eyemask are very essential, especially if you have to go in for the day before the c-section or whatever.

Midwife is still coming out to check my BP every day and its still high but within the range specified so thats good. She did say today however that I should prepare for the baby coming soon. Am seeing consultant on Friday so we should have a plan then (fingers crossed). I think its the not knowing that is killing me! Am a very impatient person at the best of times!

Hope everyone okay today :)

nymphadora · 08/09/2010 15:51

Elsa Em c-section. as soon as anything happens. Should be ok as I only went into labour with dd2 past 39 weeks (dubious over due dates) and didnt with dd1 before 39 weeks and this section is 38+1.
I always have hair bobbles on me at the moment as I'm constantly too hot & my hair annoys me. Going to have to have it trimmed in next week or two too.Don't do make up (too lazyBlush).

I'm pretty def having a private room, I'm willing to pay plus they have put it in my notes as risk factor to my depression so unless there is masses of seriously ill women I should get one, if that happens I'm home as soon as poss.

don'tstop I go in at 8am ish and they do surgery between 9-1 so shouldn't have too much waiting (will feel like days though!) Good news on the BP though, how many weeks are you now? I know what you mean about the not knowing, I'm so much more relaxed today than prior to seeing the Cons.

AbFabT · 08/09/2010 16:58

MY bag is pretty much ready, just got to get all the baby clothes washed, which I am just about to do! Wish me luck - I have a tendency to ruin things in the wash, really hoping everything comes out looking as pristine as it went in! It's all been packed away nicely, got no decent hanging space, but going to attempt to clear everything we don't need away this weekend, boxed into the loft - am getting frustrated at our lack of storage and lack of space.

It's really happening, isn't it!!!
