Morning! Happy birthday to your DH Nymph, I hope the day works out well. I'm with you on the sleep thing. My mind was too active!

Its my last Monday at work!!!! I just have 2 appraisals, some handover notes and other admin bits to do and I'm sorted. Yipee!

Dilly thanks for the point about support stockings I'd forgotten about the benefits of those- I shall get some in time for this do. I'm pleased to be finishing work this week as my shoes are feeling a little tight! I gave up wearing a skirt and heels at work at 28 weeks due to horrendous sciatica so its been trousers and lace ups since then.

I'm pleased the wedding went well Hermya- well done for boogying!

Thanks for the confidence boost on the name front Sam12. I have a shortlist of 3 girls names, 2 of which end in A. There's one I've always loved, but am slightly worried it may sound a bit pretentious and the other 2 are names my DH really likes, though he likes my choice too. So we'll see!
For boys we really liked William but my DH's father is called William although he's not known by that but my MIL wouldn't ever speak to us again if we called the child it as they divorced when my DH was tiny and she's never gotten over it. We still really like Will, so are thinking of Wilfred. And other names too.

Tyson so sorry to hear about the migraine- its not what you need is it?

Jennimoo I know what you mean about the bath! An exit strategy is definitely the way forward- maybe one of those old lady bath lifter things!!??

ILoveGregoryHouse · 06/09/2010 09:13

Jennimoo sounds funny but it isn't ay? Getting stuck in the bath. Actually, no, it is quite funny. Unless you nearly dislocate your shoulder trying to get out.

Anyone want a blueberry and oat muffin? Just about to take 12 out of the oven.

nymphadora · 06/09/2010 09:30

Mmm muffin Ta!

Dh has a long day at work on Mondays so not much of a birthday for him. Usually home 8ish so don't get time for a nice tea or cake or anything!

Waiting for MH Mw atm been v nervous about it which defeats the point but I'll be better once she is here.

Baby been v quiet & was starting to worry but it's livened up in the last hour so feeling a bit less worried now. Have hosp tomorrow anyway.

Hermya321 · 06/09/2010 09:40

Nymph Happy Birthday to your DH, I can sympathise on the not sleeping part. I keep waking up due to achy ribs the last couple of nights.

ILGH I'll have one!!

Elsa Wilfred is such a cool name, I love it.

I'm off to stay with a friend for a couple of days which I'm really looking forward to. We're going to go have tea and cake at various over priced places to celebrate the fact that I'm nearly at the end of my pregnancy. Grin Any excuse really.

Tyson86 · 06/09/2010 10:04

Hello, just want some advice please, i woke with another migraine last night, i keep vomiting and feel like crap. Do you think i should go to the mw drop in clinic and get checked out? I am concerned because of the vomiting and dizziness that i had yesterday. :(

ILoveGregoryHouse · 06/09/2010 10:17

Yes, go now Tyson. You must get your bp checked. Hope you're okay.

shieldbug · 06/09/2010 10:45

tyson if you haven't gone to the clinic yet, I second ILGH. It's always best to get checked if in any doubt. Hope everything's alright.

Elsa123 · 06/09/2010 10:50

Those muffins sound great ILGH I've just had a bran and honey one only because i didn't have enough breakfast!

Tyson get thee to thy GP or MW. Even if you are a habitual migraine sufferer your BP could be affected and your knowledge of migraine symptoms might mean its actually something else you may have written off iyswim. Best to get checked out if you can manage it. Good luck x

Ooh Hermya that sounds lovely- indulge yourself!

I always thought babies made your ribs flare but it seems that my ribs have remained where they are as the baby's bottom sit over the top of them. I can defintely feel a baby and then ribs underneath. Perhaps its becaus ei have a short body....

RooBear · 06/09/2010 11:08

Morning everyone, hope your getting an appt as I type tyson

piesey · 06/09/2010 11:13

Morning everyone

Was at a wedding in Wales all weekend which was great - really lovely and nice weather. Lots of babies and pregnant woment there too so that was nice! Also got a chance to talk to a mum with the pram we might get (Babystle Oyster) and she was really helpful going through why she likes it, what it isn't so good for etc. So we may well get one - need to go and try them out though if we can find some time somewhere!

Baby has been moving loads this weekend (and right now_ it's getting quite painful but it really is stretching the limits of the space it has. It also gets hiccups loads now - so cute!

Tyson hope you are ok

Hermya Tea and cake is deifintely the way to go - hope you have a lovely time.

nymphadora · 06/09/2010 11:24

tyson did you go? if you didn't GO NOW!!!

Hermya321 · 06/09/2010 11:38

Tyson If you haven't already gone, go now. You need to get this checked out asap!!

AbFabT · 06/09/2010 12:15

jennimoo, I have trouble getting out of the bath too! I now hook my toes around the tap and haul myself up that way, then use all my upper body strength in my arms to push up and out! I do love a bath though, and my baby seems to too - always gives me an extra wriggle when we get in. Need an old-lady bath-lifter thing really, as suggested by Elsa!

Am sure your MIL will (no pun intended!) get over the name Will(iam) if that's what you go for, Elsa. My mother, who divorced my useless father millions of years ago, has to put up with the fact that my husband has the same name as my father! No choice there, really, though she did attempt to give him alternative nickname (say, the name was William, usual nn Will, she tried for 'Iam'!!!), but it didn't really stick! :) I think she was only joking, and isn't really bothered.

Happy Birthday, Mr.Nymph!

Tyson, I second, third and fourth (etc) the calls to get thee to your m/w or GP. Hope it's nothing serious, but best be careful. Hope you are fine.

piesey, jealous of your baby's hiccups - mine has still not had any (that I've been able to tell)!
Four weeks til EDD for me now!

In other news (geeze, I go on - sorry!) - just got a letter from work (if you remember, I had all the nasty dramas of their bullying ways, bad management, etc, caused me to go on Work-Related Stress/Sick Leave) saying they are looking at voluntary redundancies, and trying to gauge who might be interested. I totally knew it, even though they've denied it for so long - KNEW it was on the cards, and I truly believe this is one of the main reasons they wanted to edge me out with their bullying, rather than now have to offer me a settlement. Sod them. I am on a good maternity package so they have to honour that, and match what they are paying me over the next year, AND I am hoping to get pregnant again soon after this first one pops out, so will then qualify for more maternity leave, so unless they offer me a mighty good redundancy package, I am better off sticking. Probably will reply that I would be interested in getting paid off, but obviously only go if the package is worthwhile. Any thoughts?

shieldbug · 06/09/2010 12:50

abfab I agree they would have to offer you a very good redundancy package to make it worth leaving. You've done well to get this far without leaving. On a different note, your baby may have had hiccups without you realising- any regular rhythmical movements (every few seconds or so for example) can be due to hiccups apparently. If that's the case, sproglet seems to get them quite often, but they're not how I imagined them to feel.

piesey and hermya glad you enjoyed the weddings.

Talking of baby names, I apologise in advance that the names we have picked out are either the same or very similar to those I know others have chosen. Great minds think alike and all that. Just didn't want anyone to think we were nicking them! I keep wavering about our choices, but dh is pretty sure. Having said that, when sproglet is finally born, we may have completely different names by then.

Elsa123 · 06/09/2010 13:02

I think given that we're all roughly the same age group, give or take 15 years there is a strong liklehood some people in our group will have children with the same or very similar names as we've probably got the same generational opinions of names.

AbFabT for me the hiccoughing feels like a rhythmic tap every couple of seconds (rather cute and I say that as someone who doesn't find other people's baby's that cute!). Re the redundancy package, I personally wouldn't say a word. You've worked there for years and have (bullies aside) enjoyed it for the most part. I would hold fast, especially in the current climate, milk your mat leave benefits and see where you're at afterwards. Afterall, manager from hell may have got the same letter too and might be thinking of leaving to inflict pain elsewhere! But thats my opinion having worked for the same place for 10 years so my knowledge of redundancy packages is nil.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 06/09/2010 13:28

AbFab, I had a similar situation with my maternity leave with DS3. I got my maternity package paid out on top of the compensation. Although at the time I'd rather have had the right to return, it worked out well for us all really as it meant we could stay in Bahrain for longer. It's worth considering but, as you said it'll need to be a fair whack to be worth it, especially in the current climate. Remember any compensation up to £30,000 is tax free.

Oh, did I mention that baby is head down and lying on my left side. Perfect position. She just needs to stay that way for the next 7 weeks or so. OMG, if I'm 7 weeks to go, some of you will be full term in the next few days. What a thought.

nymphadora · 06/09/2010 14:13

Who was first? ( assuming SamB hangs on)

tiredfeet · 06/09/2010 14:16

aha! I had thought I hadn't felt hiccups, but I have been feeling those 'rhythmic taps' you describe Elsa, so clearly I had been I just didn't expect them to feel like that.

Went swimming today, I'm starting to go more often as its just so lovely to feel weightless for a bit. I'm managing 20 lengths still which I'm pretty happy with.

tea and cakes with your friend sounds like a lovely way to spend some time Hermya. I have definitely found that going out for hot chocolate and cake has replaced my old routine of meeting people in pubs.

My mum told me last night that me and all 3 of my siblings were at least a week late, and that her mum had 6 of her 7 children two weeks late. So I'm not holding out much hope for a punctual arrival!! Whenever I worry about the birth I tell myself that if my granny decided to go through it 7 times it can't be that bad, but then I remembered that on the other hand she was a gp who later decided to specialise in family planning...

abfab yes it doesn't sound that suprising given how they treated you. My firm were the same, trying to push as many people out by being as nasty as possible, shortly before then announcing lots of rendundancies. Will your union rep or similar be able to give you advice on how to handle things?

lilmissmummy · 06/09/2010 14:43

I think I will probably be the week of the 11th as I will be induced at 38 weeks, but doubt I will be any earlier than that. ds was 17 days late and dd 2 days early. So I will definitely not be first.

tyson have you been yet?? what did they say?

Sheild and Elsa I was going to say soething similar, the name we have chosen is really popular at the moment but is the only name that dh and I agree on, so apologies if we have the same name as others :)

Abfab that what happened to my dh before they made him redundant, they made his life absolutely unbearable at work. I would get as much money out of the them as possible for putting you through that!

Happy Birthday MrNymph hope you both have a great day!

jennimoo my dh has to lift me out of the bath as a) it is really deep b) I have no stomach muscles c) SPD makes it really painful to stand on one leg and d) I get a bit wedged. It really is very comical to watch... bit like a beached whale.

please may I have a muffin ILGH it will go very nicely with this cup of tea.

DillyDora · 06/09/2010 14:50

God tirefeet 20 lengths is impressive! Well done.

I've been on a marathon shop for pjs, long vests for hospital (where it's too hot for words) and a few last maternity tops to get me through the last few weeks of work - I'm exhausted but feel 100% better for being in clothes that fit!

Happy B'day to MrNymph

Oooh, my friend had her baby yesterday - soooo excited!

I've got an EDD of 21st Oct, I reckon 14th, date adjusted for short menstrual cycle is 17th but basically I'll take anything from 9th Oct onwards Wink

nymphadora · 06/09/2010 14:52

I haven't even considered a bath. Can't get trousers on standing up now & hadto get dh to shave my legs as I can't reach them. Need the weather to stay dry until baby is born so I don't have to fasten shoes & I can stay in flip flops.

DillyDora · 06/09/2010 14:57

O bless you nymph! I struggle to get dressed too - solemnly bought tops today thinking they'd look great with leggings & long boots but of course feet and calves are too bloaty for boots! Duh! A friend of mine had to wear flip flops all through the snowy weather earlier this year so...it could be worse! Can still get ballet shoe things on so...just hanging on till Oct 8th when I finish work at which point I will don pjs and not get dressed till Christmas....

tiredfeet · 06/09/2010 15:10

dilly I should have added that I swim at quite a sedate pace now! But I just feel so relaxed and comfortable in the pool.

I fit in my boots but can't lean over far enough to pull them on :( , and DH has to cut my toe nails now. Pregnancy is not very glamorous at times!

moonstorm · 06/09/2010 15:31

Hi all

We are all getting bigger! How about a 'sweepstake' where we state our due date and then state when we think the baby will arrive. We can see who comes nearest... (although we'll probabyly all be so sleep deprived that none of us will care...)

So me:

EDD 14/10/10 - as I am planning for this to be early... My prediction - 21/10/10

Tyson Any news? How are you now?
Tiredfeet I always aim to do 20 lengths, so I am glad it's a good amount!!

Have been back to work today. Was really nervous after the emails of last week and went in prapared for a fight (and with loads of stuff in evidence that I was right) and no one has said anything!!! I almost feel like going in and saying my bit anyway!!!

Have a good evening!

nymphadora · 06/09/2010 15:56

I get a date given so can I guess the weight? 7lb 12 same as dd1
