We are going to need a new thread before there is even a baby arrival!

Title suggestion: 10/10 - stop nattering, start pushing ladies!!

shieldbug · 24/09/2010 13:46

lol seashells like the title!

nymphadora · 24/09/2010 13:58

abfab will be an edited version but I will post something!

seashells love the title. Must have some babies soon!

meanbeans hope everything is ok

don'tstop/looby any more news?

SilverSky · 24/09/2010 14:08

Hi October ladies!

I am now on maternity leave. Typically shocking day in terms of the weather!

So much to do at home and not really achieved much however one is filling up one's diary with social engagments pre baby birth.

Bump has already dropped some, so must be a sign everythings heading in the right direction eg : south and out !

We are really enjoying NCT classes and learning a heck of a lot. Worth the spondoolies IMHO. I know it's not for everyone but I think Him Indoors is getting heaps out of it and finally no longer feels like a spare part in this preggo lark.

Finally have made in roads on that hossie bag. Baby bag is ready, mine needs some more work but we are getting there and the fact I have made a start means HI has relaxed a bit.

Anyone else on ML yet??

jessebelle · 24/09/2010 14:51

Hello everybody!

I've totally lost track of when I last posted (aeons ago - was it when I lost internet access?) and who has said what - everytime I try catch up I'm hundreds of pages behind and have to do something else by the time I get to the end! Have also been more tired & exhausted as seem to have so much to do & not so much support (DP is freelance and has suddenly had tons and tons of work on). So it's not because I've been feeling well I've not been on here but literally just too tired to catch up properly- and sorry if I'm not namechecking anybody but hoping to get back into posting a bit more often!

My placenta is now out of the way and I've been officially cleared for VBAC by obstetricians. And although I can't use the birth centre they say I won't need absolute continous monitoring and will be able to move around and possibly even use the bath (not birth pool).

Suffering from what every other person on here is suffering from it seems - orrible reflux in the night and insomniac tendencies, made worse by DD who has started school and is so overexcited she has stopped sleeping through (hopefully just a phase). Plus carpal tunnel syndrome which is horrible at night (and it comes on when I'm driving and suchlike) and the VVV which are just too orrible to mention.

Feeling horribly unprepared, although getting sorted bit by bit - hospital bag is semi packed, but then it really should be as I'm 38 weeks today! Thought we had tons of stuff in the attic from last time - and woe and behold, I must have imagined it, as it must all have been hand-me-downs which I've handed-me-back to my mum who then hands-it-on to her next grandchild (she has 7 so far and counting). So I went to Bluewater to get all the babystuff we still need and had to leave Mothercare because that shop really does my head in (they lay out all the babygros so badly you can never find your sizes) and John Lewis had run out of 0-3 months sized babygro multipacks. aaaaaaaargh!

OK - so if baby comes unexpectedly early then we have something like three babygros and that's about it - yikes! Best get on the case...

Bit fed up as well as DP working so much means that we've not really bonded much over the fact that we are having a baby - and I feel like he's still, really late in the day, not really focused on the fact we could be going into labour any time in the next three weeks and he's just not mentally prepared I don't think - he hasn't even reminded himself of the stages of labour - keep nagging him to read a book or something - just think he's being rather too blase for my liking. ARGH!

Gotta go - school run in a mo' and a well deserved 'night off' as my daughter is off on a sleepover - hurrah! You may well see me back on here this eve for once!

Hermya321 · 24/09/2010 15:30

Jesse Hello there!!

SilverSky · 24/09/2010 15:58

I only twitch like mad when I am tirednymph

nymphadora · 24/09/2010 16:30

Yeah that sounds about right. V tired now & usually happens at night

ILoveGregoryHouse · 24/09/2010 17:48

Ooh, that creepy crawly feeling in the legs. Makes me cringe.

Enjoy your night mumsnetting off jesse

AbFabT · 24/09/2010 17:50

Looks like we do need a new title soon! I'd thought this would be our last, but there's been a lot of chat (and the return of a couple of ladies too!).

Personally, not so keen on 'pushing' in the title, for myself, as I am hoping to breathe this baby out, and not strain myself with pushing. And do I have to stop nattering? I like nattering! :)
Btw, we haven't done a Friday Five in AGES!

Glad you are cleared for the VBAC, jessebelle. Good luck there.

How about "October 2010 Babies - Ready or Not, Here We Come"

Tyson86 · 24/09/2010 18:37

ILGH I like your thread title as not everyone is pushing there babies out IYKWIM

I had some sharp pains in my bump quite high up, this afternoon, lasted about half hour but nothing since. My upper back is hurting again and my bump has certainly dropped loads and im having to get up to wee more at night. Just need the pains to be abit lower and ill feel like Sophie and I are on the right tracks Grin

BionicEar · 24/09/2010 18:38

Hello!

Well finally got to sleep in our bed last night after nearly a week of being on the air bed due to carpet being laid, wardrobes going up, having to repair bed (wood was splitting) and spraying flea spray in room. Was lovely to be back in my bed, but am still as knackered as ever despite having a long nap earlier today.

Keep getting bad back and tummy pains - especially last thing at night and on waking up. Have a ball to roll around on and that helps a little.

Have washed my 1st lot of baby clothes today - hard to imagine in few weeks there will be a little person to wear them! Grin

Anyway my brain feels very pickled today so will end here, try to stay awake until DD goes to bed and then I'm going to crash out for the night.

Hope you're all doing ok today. guess it won't be long til we get our 1st baby here on the board. Smile

Hermya321 · 24/09/2010 18:48

Ooooo let me have a go at the Friday five;

1, What forbidden food are you going to be most looking forward to eating after the babies born?

2, What lovely thing has your DH done for you this week?

3, What one bit of random kit have you put in your hospital bag?

4, If you were a spy from an action movie, who would you be and why (you can be the female version of a male spy)?

5, What one thing that you know now near the end of your pregnancy would you have said to yourself at the begining?

These any good?

Elsa123 · 24/09/2010 19:19

Good questions!

1, What forbidden food are you going to be most looking forward to eating after the babies born? Pate on toast with onion marmalade. A really good pate as well.

2, What lovely thing has your DH done for you this week? Cheered me up chatting to me on the phone about nonsense when I was in pain last night.

3, What one bit of random kit have you put in your hospital bag? Nipple cream (I may be slightly ahead of myself packing that Grin).

4, If you were a spy from an action movie, who would you be and why (you can be the female version of a male spy)? Not quite a spy but...Jason Bourne. I love how he can run and run and the fighting is so fast!

5, What one thing that you know now near the end of your pregnancy would you have said to yourself at the begining? You'll get all the required baby stuff and you won't actually mind buying it, in fact, you'll even get quite excited when you find the right pram for you....

dontstopmenow · 24/09/2010 19:27

Hello all,

Humph, saw my consultant today and she feels that as my blood pressure is now well controlled with drugs, she would like me to get as close to 40 weeks as possible before inducing. I however would like it to all be over now!! Am 38+5 today.

I do see that I will have the best chance at a VBAC if cervix etc is all ready, then the gel stuff they insert (ick) will start the contractions properly but it is all very long winded and considering that last weekend I was taken in for induction, it is all taking a long time now.

Anyway, I am hoping that meanbeans and looby have great news of successful births to come for us.

Friday 5:
1 - forbidden food - steak, rare!!
2 - DH baths DS every night now as about this time of night I have lost the will to live
3 - I have a portable DVD player and DVD's (expecting labour to go on for some time)!
4 - XXX. I love XXX, he is just so fantastic. This however is probably more about my Vin Diesel fantasy than wanting to be a female version of his character but there we are.
5 - Get organised now, rather than at the end as I have black bags full of hand-me-down clothes still to sort through however these are all boy clothes and if we have a girl, they will be no good. Need DH to put them back in attic really as they are very much in my way.

Gosh this is a very long post!

Have a good weekend all. :)

jessebelle · 24/09/2010 20:15

bionic ear that sounds like hell to me (airbed & not being in a proper bed) betcha glad you're back in the bed!!!

dontstopmenow must be really annoying to feel like you're being delayed all the time - but I think it IS best for the baby to have as much time in there as possible so I guess focus on that - not long now!! Hang in there!

So, dropped DD with her friend & got home, tidied, had bath (not as comfortable as I'd hoped though, so didn't last long!), and am now about to have a guilty pleasure - a meal-for-one from M'n'S in front of the telly and drop off into bed safe in the knowledge there'll be no pitter patter of feet during the night OR at 6.30am! Huzzah!

Have been experiencing a lot of Braxton Hicks's today - weird, wasn't feeling them before. Getting a bit excited...

Friday five;

1, What forbidden food are you going to be most looking forward to eating after the babies born? Rare steak I reckon. Rare anything. And booze.

2, What lovely thing has your DH done for you this week? Er, have hardly seen him. He did put the bins out this morning at 6.45am before going to work at 7am though, which was nice & wasn't expecting that. And lately I have a cup of tea in bed every morning no questions asked which is pretty lovely.

3, What one bit of random kit have you put in your hospital bag? Argh. Haven't packed it yet! So it's random because I have nothing to wear at all for instance - not even a nightie.

4, If you were a spy from an action movie, who would you be and why (you can be the female version of a male spy)? Who's that one in Avengers - I'd be somebody like that please - supacool, sexy & from the 60s.

5, What one thing that you know now near the end of your pregnancy would you have said to yourself at the begining? That I should have booked a proper NCT refresher course despite the cost and forced my partner to come with me to all of them as I think it would have made a difference for me to know that he was on the same planet page as me regarding pregnancy and birth!

OK, microwave pinged. Dinner awaits. Hope everybody gets a GOOD night's sleep tonight...

jbx

AbFabT · 24/09/2010 22:45

I like ILGH's new title!

1, What forbidden food are you going to be most looking forward to eating after the babies born?
There's not a great deal that I've done without - herbal tea is about it, and I've not really missed it! Being vegan, I didn't eat anything on the forbidden list anyway, and I also never drank caffeine either. I've missed not having a sauna and steam!

2, What lovely thing has your DH done for you this week?
Perineal massage? Not lovely, as such, but lovely that he does it for me. Blush

3, What one bit of random kit have you put in your hospital bag?
Haven't put it in yet, as I use it every night, but if I do have to go into hospital, I'll grab my DSLite as it's got Scrabble on it, and I play it loads!

4, If you were a spy from an action movie, who would you be and why (you can be the female version of a male spy)?
Hm, not very up on spy movies. Someone sassy from Austin Powers? I like that retro vibe.

5, What one thing that you know now near the end of your pregnancy would you have said to yourself at the begining?
Get reading the hypnobirthing book sooner rather than later. I procrastinated, and I still haven't finished it!

Hermya321 · 24/09/2010 23:25

1, What forbidden food are you going to be most looking forward to eating after the babies born? Oooo pate on a French Stick

2, What lovely thing has your DH done for you this week? He's been giving me back rubs.

3, What one bit of random kit have you put in your hospital bag? Bubble bath, it came as part of a kit and I put it in for some reason.

4, If you were a spy from an action movie, who would you be and why (you can be the female version of a male spy)? Oooo Jason Borne as well, I'd love to be able to beat someone up with a phone book.

5, What one thing that you know now near the end of your pregnancy would you have said to yourself at the begining? To not stress about the hideous maternity trousers that I'd been given for work, I never wore them.

Nymph Is your DH sorted with another job at all? I'm glad that everythings worked out for you though.

Dontstop Gosh you must feel like hitting them when they keep putting you off.

nymphadora · 24/09/2010 23:41

No job but going for a total change of career, at least temporarily so that side of things is a bit scary but the stress has been unbelievable and the only time he has had off this year has been when I've taken away his blackberry (when we went on holiday- so 6 days) so no planning a return to that!

Hermya321 · 24/09/2010 23:53

Nymph Oooo is he going into anything exciting at all? Gosh I can believe that you've been under a lot of stress, it can't have been nice at all. Maybe you can sell his blackberry as some sort of karmic justice and use the money to go out for a nice meal Grin.

nymphadora · 25/09/2010 00:07

Nothing exciting, planning to work p/t doing something that you don't think of when you get home! Enrolling him in the gym (on the first as they have a special offer starting) as he hasn't been for a year and used to go twice a day!

We pay for the blackberry , its not even a work one!!!
