I mean how you get on with the contractions, not with the bottom in the air thing Grin

AbFabT · 19/09/2010 15:57

Contractions, nymph! Ooh! good luck if it is!

I am impressed you are knitting at all, Tyson. I just don't have the patience!

Glad your friend is ok, ILGH.

We're using reusable wipes - have always thought those disposables are dodgy!

DH decided to move all the stuff we don't urgently need or use into the loft. Got my brothers to help. One brother has put his leg through the ceiling, so now there is a huge gaping hole in the lounge ceiling. Aargh. NOT what I need just before birth. Aaaaarrrrrghhhhh! Why couldn't he be more careful! Aaargh! He's fine, bit of a scraped shin, and very apologetic, and I know it was an accident, but still, I am just stressed now.

Aaargh.

AbFab When I was a girl my dad put his foot through the loft floor and broke his leg. It could be worse. Is your brother any good at plastering or do you need to get someone in to fix it?

On another note, once we start having our babies do you think that we should have our stats list within the thread again? We can update it as we go along. It would be a nice way to celebrate all of the births. Any objections?

nymphadora · 19/09/2010 16:26

SamB I would have been at hospital at every 3 mins! Have you got any more decisions on whether they want baby early yet? Oh and I quite often do the bottom in the air thing!

Abfab NOT YET ! or thats what I'm saying to baby!

AbFabT · 19/09/2010 16:31

Yes, must be grateful he only has a graze, but aargh, just aargh! Dh has plastered a wall before, but I think a ceiling is another ballgame, we'd probably be best getting someone in! Just not while I am naked in a pool giving birth, which obviously could happen any day now.

Yup, I am all for stats lists! :)

nymph - me too! Not yet, Baby!

oh dontstopmenow I'm thinking of you, hope all goes well and can't wait to hear your news!

Abfab thats not great timing for a hole in the ceiling! I bet your poor brother feels dreadful though.

I'm 37+1 now, feels very strange to have reached the 37 weeks mark. the random occasional contractions of last week seem to have stopped, at one point I was getting loads of tightenings and the occassional painful one, but now I seem to be back to normal. Was already for something to start happenign but I think it was baby just teasing me. We made it up to london (although we did put hospital bags and car seat in the car just in case) and I had a lovely meal out with friends. It was great to have a change of scenery, although the restaurant we went to was a bit glamourous and I suspect my unborn child weighed the same amount as some of the women in there!

had a good chuckle at your acupuncture experience dilly although it sounds totally worth it if it has made you feel so much better

just had a parcel delivered by our neighbours, a rather brilliant looking playmat which is a gift from a friend. It was addressed to us and to our address, but had been left at the same number house but on a different road. those people had opened it up! I don't see why they would need to when it had so obviously been misdelivered, and I was a bit tempted to storm round there and have a strop, but I chickened out in the end! I'm never sure any more whether I'm being reasonable to be cross or whether its just hormones.... definitely not feeling too fragile for the AIBU board at the minute though!

hope everyone had lovely weekends, struggling to take in everything on the thread now, but sympathies to those suffering in one way or another x

nymphadora · 19/09/2010 16:44

I've just been looking at playmats tiredfeet nad thinking of Xmas presents for baby!

Elsa123 · 19/09/2010 16:49

Gosh, all these niggles and contractions! Very frustrating if not taken seriously.

ILGH thats very annoying about your consultant- I hope his stand ins are good.

AbfabT my plasterer (who is fab) relocated to Essex and is close enough to London- very reliable and knows what its like to have new baby and stuff, so if you'd like his details, just let me know. The finish on the walls and ceiling in my house are beautiful- like glass. Oh, and he won't break the bank either.

Tyson86 · 19/09/2010 16:51

What are you thinking of getting LO for xmas nymph? I am stuck on a sit up cosy, slumber bear and baby bracelet as a keepsake rather than to actually wear! :)

Have realised that i really need a tandem/twin buggy but decided to get a buggy pod to fit onto my Graco, or ill be turning into a recluse when Sophie is here.

dontstopmenow · 19/09/2010 17:03

Hello everyone.

Well, I am home again. Without a baby in tow. Grrrr!

Went in on Saturday at 2.00pm as planned for induction. Got ignored for a couple of hours which you come to expect, then got examined by a doctor.

The doctor decided that my cervix was too tightly closed and 'high' (whatever that means) and that if they induced me, it would take far too long and the scar from previous c-section would be at risk. They did more blood tests and determined that the pre-eclampsia is no worse and that I could wait for a couple of days to deliver at least.

I suspect that the real reason they want to hang on is because there are no neonatal beds at all in case the baby has a problem.

They kept me in overnight then to observe blood pressure and do a sweep of cervix (which I have never experienced before and is not very much fun) then they let me out this afternoon.

Am very cross as I have been messed around a lot now. It seems you see one doctor who wants to get on with induction then the actual doctor on the ward is not willing to take responsibility for that and changes the decision. 3 hospital admissions in 3 weeks. Humph!

Am going to see my consultant on Tuesday so hopefully, her decision will be final and binding.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts! I wish I could access mumsnet on my mobile but that does not appear to work. I was itching to let you all know that it wasn't going ahead.

:)

sam12 · 19/09/2010 17:08

Hi. Just a quick one whilst I have sneeked on my dad's computer as my laptop has died Sad
Thanks for advice re. tummy bug on Friday. I don't know where I'd turn without being able to come on here sometimes. All worked out fine and feeling loads better now.

sam12 · 19/09/2010 17:11

Dontstopmenow Sorry x posts.
Glad you are doing ok and are back at home. But it must be sooo annoying to be messed around. Hope that the consultant will be more help on Tue

tiredfeet · 19/09/2010 17:22

oh dontstopmenow what a weekend for you, I'm sorry you've been messed around so much by them

Tyson86 · 19/09/2010 17:26

Sorry to hear that dontstopmenow, was really hoping the first little baby on our thread was here. :( for you x

AbFabT · 19/09/2010 17:30

tiredfeet, yeah, my brother feels terrible. Ach, these things happen. I just feel stressed now; the house is an utter tip, dust everywhere, and today was meant to be about creating the OPPOSITE environment for birthing, and our new arrival.

Wouldn't be impressed about neighbours opening my parcels when they are clearly labelled as not for them!

Elsa, thanks! My other brother knows someone in the trade of general handymanness who if he can't do it himself, should be able to recommend someone. And we are in SW London, Essex is over the other side, but thanks so much for the offer.

Glad you are ok, sam12.

And dontstop, ah, a shame - but it will be soon, hey!

Tyson things for the next year, basic toys, next sizes of clothes that sort of thing. Santa has to come as the other two expect it so there will be a stocking too!

dontstopme what a PITA! Make sure you see the top person on your next appt. I refused registrar last time as I wanted a clear decision & was much better.

DillyDora · 19/09/2010 18:08

dontstopme so sorry about all the palaver - poor you, that's rubbish.

Eeeh! AbFab I'd be really t'd off about that too, so sorry!

RooBear · 19/09/2010 18:11

wow so much going on! I'm afraid i've just scanned as i'm in the middle of packing hospital bags and washing baby clothes now i'm 35wks Grin still got 3 weeks of work though so can't relax just yet, getting annoyed with heartburn as well.

Hermya321 · 19/09/2010 18:11

Abfab You have a hole in your ceiling?!?! If my bro did that, I'd be ripping him a new one, I bet he pulled the old puppy dog eyes on you didn't he.

Dilly Yeah I saw the thread, I've been contemplating the rantedine (is that how you spell it?). Other pregnant women are taking it, so it can't be that bad can it.

Tired I wonder why they opened it? How odd.

Sam I'm all up for stats.

Dontstop How annoying!! I'd be fuming if that was me.

nymphadora · 19/09/2010 18:43

Oh forgot 35+4 (18 to go)

ILoveGregoryHouse · 19/09/2010 18:58

Dontstop, that's a real pain. Hope the consultant makes a proper decision asap.

Tired, how very nosey of those people to open it - surely they should have checked the address as it's not every day you get big parcel delivered. Pah!

Friend is okay but was very shaken - she spent the afternoon here and has asked if she can spend the day with me tomorrow so she doesn't have to think about it. At least she's not working. We'll go get a pedicure done and a bit of shopping I think. Poor thing. Turns out the boy who hit her didn't have a driving licence, it wasn't his car and therefore no insurance. And he was Qatari so not even sure what can be done about it. Makes me mad.

Hermya321 · 19/09/2010 21:22

Abfab Dunno if you're interested, but whilst I was lusting looking at the Urban Decay Website, I found that they do vegan make up.

Meanbeansmum · 19/09/2010 21:30

Hi girls! Sorry I'm not on here much, we had a storm and our phone line was knocked out, it's been 2 weeks already....waiting for repairs to be completed by wednesday, it's so frustrating, my internet access is so limited atm.x

Do we have any babies yet?

I've been in hospital, my heartrate was racing so I went on a 24hour ECG, all is ok but I am being induced 2 days before my due date this WEDNESDAY!!!!!! Bricking it.......I blooming hate contractions, I hope I can do as I did with DD and go into the zone lol! Wish me luck girls.xxxx

AbFabT · 19/09/2010 22:03

These things happen, could be worse - he could have fallen through and really hurt himself. It is less than ideal - there was dust everywhere, but at least it wasn't directly over our bed or the sofa - they would have been buggers to clear the grime from. DH has covered it with cardboard for now, to stop more dust coming through, and my other brother's friend has quoted a reasonable price, it's just timing, and when to get him round. DB that did it is very sorry, he feels so bad, but I know it was an accident, and such is life!

Thanks for the vegan makeup link, Hermya. I've got stacks of makeup still to plough through, but when I need to stock up, I'll check it out!

Off to put my feet up now!

37+6.
