Dilly I'm sorry but that is so funny, he wanted to tape your fanjo Grin. Only a bloke!! LOL!!

Dontstop Oh my GOSH!!!! You could be the first of us to give birth, how exciting!!!

Tyson86 · 17/09/2010 17:37

dontstopmenow how exciting and scary! You could have your baby by this time tomorrow if they get you in early enough! Good luck x

DillyDora · 17/09/2010 17:38

God, I know Hermya I really couldn't process what he was suggesting. He taped the woman's ribs in the cubicle next door tho, I could hear him riiiip and tape, and riiip and tape...what will it look like?! I'm going to look it up now...I want to know what on earth this practice is...

moonstorm · 17/09/2010 17:42

Dontstopmenow wow how exciting!!!! 'We' (you!!) could have a baby by the end of tomorromow!!!!!

Dilly rather you than me!!! Sorry, but everytime I think of it, I go Grin

moonstorm · 17/09/2010 17:45

Abfab Do the nursing vests have inbuilt support? I want to get some really nice bras after the birth (I have one to tide me over...) but my breasts have been all over the place this pregnancy, so I though I'd wait until after I'd given birth before getting measured. Do you have a link, please? Last time I ended up with some (well fitting) but 'cheap' and tatty ones, this time I want some decent ones!!

Elsa123 · 17/09/2010 18:09

Wow *Don'tstopmeknow' Good luck- gosh, tomorrow!! Eeek!

AbfabT I don't know, perhaps its because the bounce factor wouldn't be as good if they're swaddled? I do have the snuggler also.

Lol at the taping debarcle Dilly!

Just got back from a dog walk and got bitten by a large bug (I know it was large because I felt the little sod there) behind my ear. I'm now growing an extra head...

I have 2 hotmilk bras that I rarely wear as they're ok, but not the best shape and they get a little uncomfortable towards the end of the day. My favourites are bravado nursing bras and I have 3 and may get more so I can put a couple in my hospital bag also. They don't come in normal bra size, but small, medium etc. I'm a 32FF in Hotmilk and a medium in Bravado if that is useful to anyone and also the shape they give is really nice and you can sleep in them.

Tyson my sister had an epidural with her second and my niece's crowned without anyone realising! The mw thought she'd check dilation and there was DN! A much better experience that my sister's first which was too fast, uncontrolled and with a hand by the face which caused quite a bit of damage and no epidural. Even though there is a lot of bad press about epidurals, they do work well most of the time.

AbFabT · 17/09/2010 18:31

dontstop, huh? Tomorrow?! TOMORROW? WOW!!! Woo hoo! Good luck!

ILGH, wow! FOUR rooms, one just for gifts! The mind boggles! Sounds nice if you have a lovely suite then - sounds like a fancy hotel! I don't think I have that luxury at Carshalton!

Hermya, sounds cool! Though what I really want is one of these: scroll to bottom product - S'wich Guard

Dilly, Shock and Blush at your acupuncture dramas! Yikes! YIKES! Oh ok, Grin too! :)
And thanks re homebirth sympathy, though hopefully they'll come round Sunday and say all is well after all!

moonstorm, the vests are marketed as nursing vests, they look decently supportive to me, and I am on the well-endowed scale of endowmentness! I'll just have to see how it goes though - may have to get a bra or two too.

Bra Vest Thing - bit more bra-like than vesty after all. I think this is the one I went for: www.bravadodesigns.com/shop/the-body-silk-seamless-nursing-bra, but I didn't order from this American site, it would have been somewhere like ASOS, though I am afraid it was ages ago and I just can't remember. I then have cheap croptop vest things that I got from Primark or Sainsburys, which I wear in bed now, offer some support and I think could be good in the nights for just rolling over, popping out a breast and nursing, but I am a beginner so it really will be try and see.

I went to a bra shop the other week, they said come in from 37 weeks as by then, your breasts are more likely to be the size they'll be for nursing - I think I am going to wait til after the birth though, might be a bit more reliable, or, I'll be happy enough with what I've got already.

OMG dontstopme Good luck!!! First baby of our thread :)

dilly you're scaring me now with tape & needles!

floozietoozie · 17/09/2010 21:46

Dontstopmenow - wooooooooooohhhhhh!!!!!! All the best, hope you sail through it! Did I say before, we share a hospital so I can even picture where you'll be! How far are you now? Over 37 right? xxxx

I'm getting shooty wind pains up the jacksee intermittently. It's not fun, especially when in the middle of something like a consultant's appt...

It was me who suggested doing the how far you are thing and I keep forgetting to bleeding well do it. I'm on the phone so it's difficult to look back and name check, so hello everyone, but Hermya and whoever else was doing baby washing I had my line full of ds's baby clothes too. Just looked at them and thought surely the baby can't be that small! Also remembered a tip: when buying baby clothes, make sure the sleeeves aren't tight as it's a real bugger getting them on a small baba if they are.

34 today. Woohoo.

34

moonstorm · 17/09/2010 22:04

Floozie - 34 weeks! Congratulations!!!

DillyDora · 17/09/2010 23:16

OOh, Floozie is that wind? God, I just thought it was some new horrific form of SPD... I have been rather gassy lately so that would make sense, what a relief! 34 weeks - hurray!

I've got one of the Bravado ones too, comfiest bra I've got I have to say. Not that I'm well endowed...all been a bit of a let down there...

34+1

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 18/09/2010 02:48

dontstomenow wow!! Good luck tomorrow (orrather, today) hope all goes well. Eek you'll be holding a snuffly baby very soon.

I'm being kept up by indigestion post curry and horrid pins and needles in my hands and elbows. Not sure if it's pg or ms related but I don't like it!

Abfab, sorry your homebirth is becoming difficult, hope things get sorted.

Floozie-sounds like the consultants are being as relaxed as they can. Must be v hard to know what the right thing is.

Congratulations to the new aunties on the list!

Dilly- omg, seriously?!!! I don't know if Grin or Shock is more appropriate!!

hands bad so offski,

38weeks today

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 18/09/2010 02:57

Been googling through the pain- could be carpal tunnel syndrome, symptoms fit (hurrah if not ms, as my eye was playing up making me paranoid)

Anyone else got this and found anything that works? X

nymphadora · 18/09/2010 03:49

No idea sorry seashells but am awake with you. Baby having a party! Dh up too but he has decided on doing some work instead.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 18/09/2010 05:45

dontstop OMG! Good luck.

Seashells try acupuncture. But avoid needles in your fanjo. I had terrible pins and needles down my right side of arm and face on Wednesday evening. Rushed to doc and he said it was prob a compressed blood vessel or nerve due to too much sitting in one place.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 18/09/2010 07:08

I took some paracetamol and woke dh up so he could massage my arms and listen to me whinge Grin not sure if either helped but made me feel better!

I've had it a few nights, never as bad as last night, but that fits with cts rather than ms too.

Nymph- doh! Partying babies not great, especiacially as they tend to keep the sleep pattern for a bit after birth :( hope she settled before your dc woke up!

Ilgh- sounds similar, but I have arms only. Not surprised you went to gp if it was head down arms- scary!

No needles near my fanjo thankyou! Got enough going on there and despite being v pro acupuncture I draw a line!!

sophieandbelly · 18/09/2010 07:27

good luck dontstopmenow! 1st thread baby!

seashells that sounds horrible, carpel tunnel is quite common in pregnancy ive heard! so could well be that ment to b hell.

dillydora i also have had terrible wind, really quite painful at times.

i have a party to sort today for my friends 30th (only a tea party, not the wild sort will leave that for new yrs eve!) and my dd s 3rd bday party tomorrow,
this time in 2 weeeks i should be leaving hospital with my lo sat 2nd oct. 11 days 2 goSmile

DillyDora · 18/09/2010 09:15

Hiya

Yeah seashells I don't think it's the MS necessarily - more likely carpal tunnel, it does really hurt but should go away when bub comes cos it's something to do with swelling and pressing on nerves or something.

Hmmm...now, is my SPD better this morning? Had a good night I have to say...we'll keep an eye on it.

Enjoy your party sophie

piesey · 18/09/2010 09:47

Goodness - good luck Dontstop! Hope it all goes well.

Well I'm feeling rubbish today after not much sleep - my cold has moved into my chest and I've hurt my tummy muscles (what was left of them) by coughing. I'm hoping I can shake it off soonas it;s really horrible.

AbFab Congrats on being an auntie too! Hope you get to see your niece soon. My nephew is my 9th niece/nephew! I am starting to find it hard to rememeber their birthdays and full names! I have one brother and four sisters (all older) so that's why I have so many.

moonstorm · 18/09/2010 10:13

Thinking of dontstop !

Abfab meant to say - hope you get things sorted for your home birth. If we had kived near enough to hospital (we are over an hour away), I would have been trying as well.

Enjoy your party sophie

Piesey try to rest today - I really sympathise. Dh has had a really bad cold all week and has been banished to the spare bedroom!

Seashells If it is Carpal Tunnel, your dr can give you some arm 'splints' (don't think they are hard, just like a sleeve) to wear at night. This keeps your hands etc in an ideal position to stop them swelling up. (I'm a musician and know quite a few people who have worn them)

Have a good day everyone!

DillyDora · 18/09/2010 10:21

OOoh, sorry about that cough piesy that can be miserable. Mind it doesn't go green and nasty, if it does get yr antibiotics (can anyone tell I'm asthmatic?!).

Have a lovely day all - I'm off for lunch with a friend who's giving me her reusable nappies for new borns - yay!

O, and btw, those who are interested in reusables and so on, we had some baby wipes in the house, kind of by accident and DH was painting and couldn't remove the gloss paint from his hands no matter what he did....until he tried using the baby wipes! AAAAAAAAAAARGH! What is in these things?

Hope you've got sunshine today!
xxx

Hermya321 · 18/09/2010 10:48

Dilly I know, someone told me they were great for getting mold off of bathroom tiles. I dread to think, I've used them on my face to get rid of makeup and my face tingles when I use them. I'm glad I bought some reusable wipes, but I'll probably have a pack kicking around the house just in case.

Seashelles Sorry about the carpel tunnel syndrome.

Abfab I want one too, I'm such a lunchbox horder. I've got millions of the things at home, but I always want more.

I'm so tired today, I'm sleeping ok I just think I'm at that stage of things. I can feel LO's hands now when he's moving now, I've not felt them for ages and he keeps punching me. I'm going to take lots of embarrassing pictures of him over the next few years in special preparation for when he brings home his first girlfriend as some sort of belated revenge.

floozietoozie · 18/09/2010 11:46

Morning all.

Wow, must try going to bed earlier again! Feel prettygood, spd aside. My friend has come over from Dublin for the weekend and it's so great to see her. She's left her little one back home with dad and has now headed for town for some well earned me time. I'm going to give her a few hours child free pottering, relaxing time before I inflict ds on her for lunch. I remember how much I enjoyed the time on my own when I went over there in June.

Seashells both my sister and best friend had cts in pregnancy. My friend had to wear a sling to relieve it. As moonstorm said maybe the gp could sort you out with one? It did go once the babies came. HTH.

Piesey cough sounds rubbish, hope it gets better soon. Watch that pelvic floor when you cough! Poor thing.

Abfab keeping fingers crossed for you re home birth. I'm living vicariously through all of you having them hopefully do lots of positive thoughts going your way!

Ok, my memory of what's been said has run out. Have a lovely Saturday everyone.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 18/09/2010 12:38

Thanks for all the advice! All normal now, so will have a decent nap this afternoon and see what tonight holds :)

Hope your ok dontstopmenow
