AbFab you're not in the Crouch End yoga class are you? I'm sure I would have recognised you...

Good luck with the assessment!
And - do you have puffy feet and did the reflexology help? I am getting desperate...if the baby isn't born by Hallowe'en I'm going to paint them orange and say they're pumpkins...

shieldbug · 17/09/2010 12:09

piesey congrats on being an auntie. How lovely to be able to see your nephew so soon. Boo to Boots for being so mean.

abfab congrats too! Envyof the reflexology- sounds great!

Ivytheterrible · 17/09/2010 12:42

Just a quick check-in to say I had an extra scan this morning to check baby growth as bump only 30cm but all is fine and I am spot on size-wise and can still aim for homebirth etc.

So happy and relieved... gotta go as have 3 hour drive now for a family wedding have a good weekend all!

AbFabT · 17/09/2010 13:03

Dilly, no, I'm in Wimbledon.

Yes, puffy feet/ankles, think reflexology helped, she said it should feel better throughout the day, not just immediate. It was great just having a foot rub!

Thanks, shieldbug. :)

Good news, Ivy.

Aargh, m/w just called, I've been postponed again! Hopefully coming on Sunday now, which could be better as DH will be here too, just as long as baby isn't here first! She did say on the phone that the homebirth team had been discussing my case, little bit concerned about access - I live on a main road and parking/stopping is atrocious, and also, if it's a squash with the pool in the kitchen and there is a problem and the ambulance crew need to hoist me out, would they be able to? Aargh again!

Hello!

Still here. We have been reduced to absolute chaos after the builders (decorator finishing today... but we asked him to do another room...) Ds has been put out of his room and has been sleeping in our bed - dh has worked late the last couple of days, so I've been going to be with ds. Not feeling any less tired after all that extra sleep though! Confused

Haven't had any more crampling since mentioning them to the midwife - makes them more 'sinister' as I had been getting them 2/3 times daily prior to that...

Dilly where do you get those moisture traps? We seem to be on a losing battle with condensation and mildew on certain windows in the house.

Having a rest now - ds alseep in our bed, I really didn't think he would! Hopefully he can get his bedroom back tomorrow, hope nothing happens before then!!!

36+1

moonstorm · 17/09/2010 14:10

Dilly thanks - just seen the link!!

Nymph 20 days doesn't sound long...! Smile

Hermya321 · 17/09/2010 14:15

Dilly Thanks for the link, I love Lakeland they do everything I have to keep myself away from the big store thats down the road from me. I find myself in their glittery ailes convinced that I need a melon baller.

tiredfeet · 17/09/2010 14:22

congratulations to piesey and abfab on the new additions to your families! how exciting for your families to have two coming along so close together Smile

abfab I'm sorry your wait to get the ok for a homebirth is proving so complicated at the minute! Hopefully the wait will be worth it and you will get the all clear on sunday. but if not at least the birthpool might be really lovely for the early bit of labour before you go into hospital. I watched the 'cherry has a baby' programme and thought the birthing pool looked lovely, even for just part of labour. will keep fingers crossed for you for Sunday though!

I'm waiting for call back from dr as still getting occassional cramps in my back. Apparently it could be a sign of urine infection so the midwife told me to book an appointment but the gp surgery insisted on me having a telephone appointment 'to assess' first, even though I pointed out its not really something they can test for over the phone! normally I'm all in favour of telephone appointments where possible, but it seems a bit pointless in these circumstances.

ivy - glad it was good news for you

sam12 hope you aren't feeling to unwell, and I hope the midwife could reassure you.

bored at home doing DH's accounts today, he's trying to make the most of me being on maternity leave I think Grin. But I'm hoping that by doing it now, he won't be trying to do it when the baby is here, so it will benefit both of us

nymphadora · 17/09/2010 15:40

hermya why did you say that ? Im so tempted to go now. Do they still do those fab cakes in the cafe? And they used to do really OTT hot chocolate ...

ILoveGregoryHouse · 17/09/2010 15:52

Hi there. Just been lurking for a few days.

Sorry about the homebirth assessment hassle AbFab. The hypnobirthing is really good but I always fall asleep during the visualisation cd.

Moonstorm good luck getting the house back in order.

Ivy good news on bump front. Enjoy the wedding.

Oh, and Lakeland are opening in Bahrain soon - just saw the shop front in shopping centre yesterday. Am very pleased about that!

Been doing my final hospital bag shopping. I'm accounting for three or four days in hospital so I can get some p&q and breastfeeding sorted out at last. I've got one nightie and matching wrap, three pairs of pyjamas, a dressing gown, slippers, maternity pads, lansinoh, breast pads, nipple shields just in case, 4 nursing bras and 8 pairs of knickers, as well as the TENS, homeopathy kit, rescue remedy, sherbert lemons and chocolate raisins. Baby bag has swaddle wrap, 8 babygros, pack new born huggies, blueberry minky nappy and outfit for coming home, two hats, scratch mits, 3 pairs of socks, 8 sleeveless bodysuits, 1 white cardi and 2 top/trouser outfits. Think that's enough. Have treated myself to a new Cath Kidston wash bag and cosmetic bag and some Elemis travel skincare set which mum is bringing over next month. Oooh, I'm soooo bored now..

By the way, how many nursing bras do you have?/are planning to have?

Elsa123 · 17/09/2010 16:08

ILGH I'm going to copy out your packing list as doing my bags has been stressing me a bit- also trying to think about what the baby will wear when in the Amby Nest as it does not recommend blankets/swaddling and I'm findign it hard to get hold of suitable fleecy sleepsuits. ARGHHH! Its amazing what winds you up isn't it?!

Congrats to those with new family members! How nice to have cousins the same age Smile. My 2 cousins the same age as me are lazy and one's very fat and the other unhealthily skinny (no exercise) and aged 32, they both still live at home....

Just made some lemon mini muffins- trying to resist having a fourth. Oh bugger it I will....

I love Lakeland too! I could just wander around the shop all day.

sophieandbelly · 17/09/2010 16:10

sam ive had 2 horrible stomach bugs was up last week for about 4 hours, shaking and puking etc, if u are worried ring i just treated it as normal stomach bug, iam one of 4 girls at work that have had it and iam the only preg one. my preg friend has had it to!

jennimoo it is a sign of labour having a very long sleep!! its ur body way of preparing u for the task ahead!! with dd i went to bed at 9 ish and got up following day at 12!! i know bloody hell, went into labour the following day. Shock

well ive done it, hunted out all dd neautral (sp) bits from last time, washed tumbled iorned, cot bed sheets r washed etc and on! moses basket at my mums as my lil nephew is using it but will get that nxt week.

hair been cut and coloured this week, booked in for pedicure few days b4 birth, i may look like shite but my feet will look ok!! the things we do to make ourself feel better!
what have u all planned to make u feel better? for some reason with dd didnt take moisturiser into hospital, that this time is a must skin gets so dry in hosp. my mw said they no longer provide u with a bowl to wash baby (i no some of u wnt be in long enough for this) but in case of any emcs a top and tail bowl would b useful Smile
just thinking of some food bits to take to hospital, for after section, as hosp food is grim isnt it!

god starting to feel like time going to quick- 12 days to go!!
i had totally forgotten about this thread, been caught up with the elcs one while i was sorting that xx

Tyson86 · 17/09/2010 16:14

Ivy so pleased your scan went well!

Hermya321 · 17/09/2010 16:27

Nymph OTT Hot Chocolate?? You do realise I'm going to have to go now don't you and I'll probably end up getting a melon baller and a lunchbox that has special gel in the sides that keeps your lunch cold.

Sophie I have a bag full of lovely make up and some fabulous new mascara.

Abfab Gosh that must be so so annoying!!

ILGH I've got three nursing bras at the moment, I'll probably get some more after the birth.

Just been to my midwives appointment, baby is 4/5th engaged and everything seems to be generally well. The spare room continues to be tackled, I'm on my third load of baby washing. I'm going to tackle the nappies next.

Funny thing, my midwife was asking me about work and I said 'Oh got two weeks to go' and she said 'really, oh well thats good. It'll be nice to get you away from that horrible place' and she seriously started muttering underneath her breath and then went on that they shouldn't be making me commute and how mean they were. I was a bit taken aback but it made me wonder what she would be like if she was truely angry. Scary!

AbFabT · 17/09/2010 16:37

I hope so too, tiredfeet, though I felt a bit disheartened when she mentioned the possible difficulties if an ambulance was called. I'll stay in the bath for as long as possible, before hospital, if it comes to it, save myself the £100+ on the pool!
Thanks for the fingers crossed re Sunday. That's still to be confirmed - might be Monday!

I saw the Cherry programme too. The girl in the pool, eek, her DAD was there? Wow! Close family! Or am I just a prude?

tf, hope your back cramps turn out to be nothing bad.

ILGH, I like Lakeland too! (Only shopped online, not been to an actual store.) :) Put a ban on myself now though: this house can handle no more 'stuff'!

You sound well-organised re your hospital bag. Is it through choice you are wanting to stay in hospital for three or four days? I don't want to stay in at all! My preference is to come home and be in my own bed, and only stay in hospital if I have to! And hopefully I won't even be there in the first place!

Re nursing bras, I've got a few nursing VESTS, which offer good support yet are more flexible re sizing, and cheaper! And I've got a few regular vesty-type tops that I am hoping will do the trick too. Nursing bras are £££! I have only one, and it's one I've been wearing already, fitted several weeks ago to my pregnancy breast size, so no idea if it will fit when it comes to nursing. Hope so.

Elsa, why no swaddling in the Amby? I've got a couple of swaddling outfits, and then three or four (I'm sure I bought four, but I seem to have lost one! Maybe I only bought three!) sleeping bag things. Though for the most part, we are co-sleeping, not relying on the Amby.

And thanks re the new arrival, and yes, it is lovely that the cousins will be so close in age (though we are geographically currently quite far apart, but hope to see lots of them).

x-p with Hermya. There is a lunchbox that has special gel in the sides that keeps your lunch cold? I NEED one of those! :)

You've made me want some hot chocolate now too!

4/5ths engaged - ooh, get you! :)

hermya was a few years ago ...

ILoveGregoryHouse · 17/09/2010 16:57

AbFab am choosing to stay in hospital as I want to make sure I concentrate only on the baby and get some rest - I'll have a private suite (ooh - get me!). I'm also crap at breastfeeding and really want to get the support from the midwives this time, seeing as we're paying for it. If I go home too early, I'll get distracted with the boys. Also, all the posh Bahrainis have babies at my hospital and I'm hoping one will be there the same time as me so I can see the week long party they have - when my friend was there, a Shaikha had 4 rooms, one just for presents, one for greeting guests, one for the nanny and baby and one for her. And had a balloon archway round her door.

With DS3, I had a 6 hour discharge as I really wanted a homebirth but had to go into the midwife unit.

I've got sleeping bags for dd in the Amby.

Mmmmmm hot chocolate at bedtime. Or maybe Ovaltine....

Hermya321 · 17/09/2010 16:59

Abfab They do!! It's so so cool and they do water bottles with gel inserts that you can put in the freezer and it keeps your water cold! I use them all the time at work, I love them!!

Tyson86 · 17/09/2010 17:02

Have just wrote my birth plan so completely ready for anything now, also just watched a video of a woman giving birth with an epidural, she looked like she was in no pain at all. wow!

DillyDora · 17/09/2010 17:24

Hey all - I blummen love Lakeland too but there isn't one near me - probably for the best, I'd be bankrupt.

Well, as if I hadn't done enough odd things to my fanjo so far this pg what with the mole, the frozen yoghurt tubes on the SP joint and all, I now need to shave it. O yes. Went for acupuncture just now, 'where is the pain' sez the man - in my SP joint sez I. So he explains he can tape it Shock and that can really help so...where is the pain again? Point to front of self, yes, SP joint still where my fanjo is, hasn't conveniently moved to me knee for a less embarrassing experience all round. Hmmm...asks me to put the tape on myself and then he tries to pull it up to stick the other end somewhere else (round tummy button perhaps?) but too much hair...Blush...so he tells me I'll have to shave it for next time Hmm o no sez I as regrowth will be dreadful I have heard so we have agreed I'll just clipper it short (and the mole is bound to cause a problem...). So, anyhoo, he just does normal acupuncture (and yes, he put a needle in the ruddy lady parts just the one mind, not the usual 3 - give me strength!) which hurt like ..a bad swear word..but I feel better now (well you would, wouldn't you?!), I tried to do my breathing....

I can only say that you can't fault me for trying everything to cope better with the SPD and after all this, please may I have a pain free labour and delivery?! And yes, ladies, I can hear you laughing from here and who can blame you?!

dontstopmenow · 17/09/2010 17:25

Erk, Had hospital appointment today and because of the pre-eclampsia, they are going to aim to induce me tomorrow! Oh my word, that is a bit too scary. Will keep you all informed but apparently, I have to wait for a space on the delivery suite first so it may be a while. Here we go....! :)

DillyDora · 17/09/2010 17:27

p.s. AbFab sorry about homebirth frustrations, bit difficult especially as it was their idea anyway! Congrats on the new member of the family.

Good news about the scan ivy

You all sound so organised, I thought I could ask my Mum to help me pack my hospital bag as I can't really get to grips for some reason...

DillyDora · 17/09/2010 17:30

O best of luck dontstopmenow be thinking of you!!!!!!!!
