Nymph sorry to hear that everything's getting to you. I cried the other evening because dh had stayed at work late to play football, and didn't he understand that I was lonely and hormonal and IT'S BECAUSE OF HIS CHILD DAMMIT!

Being alone all day is rubbish. And I don't have SPD, but I have a previously dislocated hip that the baby has decided to go head down on top of, with it's already overly stretched ligaments, and now pregnancy stretched ligaments, and I can't even walk from the living room to the bathroom without being in agony. Even a trip to the library would be nice now.

My friends have all just restarted studies or work, so no one is around to visit, and they're all busy in the evenings as well, and I just want to scream "this is the last chance to see each other before one of us has a baby!"

Anyway, all that to say, you're not alone, and I completely sympathise. I hope your day gets better :)

Elsa123 · 16/09/2010 08:47

I hope it works out for you Nymph and Shock at the contractions! I really need to get a grip and realise that there are some of us who may deliver early..I really should sort my life out, given that I'm 36 weeks today!

I'm glad you slept better Hermya Sgt Major Dillydora is your own personal angel!

I'm off to a function this afternoon and plan to wear heels! I will be taking a pair of my mum's shoes also which are a size bigger in case my feet swell, but for the last 2 days they haven't been too bad- they were obviously not happy about being at work previously. I have a wraparound dress thats several years old and still fits my distended pregnant self!

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 09:26

fingon Thanks & its nice to know I'm not the only lonely one (sounds like I'm doing better than you social wise!). Contractions gone but am a bit paranoid now and its quite possible they were BH.

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 09:40

Oh forgot to say todays plan is to do dd1s secondary application- How scary is that!

shieldbug · 16/09/2010 09:41

morning all! I haven't posted for a while becuase I've been sooo busy trying to get things ready for my departure from uni. Today I've baked and brought in lots of cakes for a sort of farewell (although I will be in tomorrow, lots of others won't, so this is my last chance to see them for a while). Apparently a new student is taking my desk space on Monday, so it's not as if they're eager to get rid of me or anything!

Tyson glad to hear all is well with you and your bump. Hooray!

KSal Sorry to hear about you being in hospital, especially as you had to miss dd's birthday. Scary to think the first of our thread babies could be so soon! Good luck and keep us well posted. Hope all goes well.

Sophie I have an enormous list of things I want to do before the baby arrives. Goodness only knows how many of them we will manage, but they range from "get a washing line" to "buy a family car"! At least we have done the latter now.

nymph glad your major issue might not be as bad as you first feared, but still thinking of you and dh. Sorry to hear you are feeling down, hope something good happens today to cheer you up. ((hugs)).

Elsa123 · 16/09/2010 09:46

Thats soo spooky Shieldbug I'm about to purchase a washing line!

tiredfeet · 16/09/2010 10:05

sophie how exciting for you, that's really not vey far away now!

I had one contraction at 4am that was actually painful, but since then nothing but a ton of braxton hicks type ones. I think its just baby teasing us, but it has been a wake up call because I was just assuming that the baby would be late and planning on getting everything done to that schedule. So at least now my hospital bags are packed and the baby's bed is set up! I feel semi-sorted. There's more I could do with getting organised but we would certainly be able to manage if the baby arrived soon. I've finally got a bit of nesting instinct too and spent ages yesterday evening doing little bits and pieces of housework; normally I'm too tired to do any by the end of the day but I had loads of energy and was getting a bit obsessed by sorting various things. It was quite weird but I think DH found it amusing!

hermya I'm so pleased you're feeling better today

nymph I'm glad things sound like they will at leat be over soon. It must be hard having that weighing on your mind as well as everything else. I hope filling out the application for dd goes ok! must be quite strange to think of her going to secondary next year.

fingon I would ideally like to make it to at least Monday without anything happening, as I haven't had a chance to discuss my questions about my birth plan with my midwife yet. But otherwise I feel quite calm about things happening sooner, if they do. I think because DH works just 5 minutes away from home, I know he will be back and with me as soon as anything starts happening. My main worry was actually that we hadn't finished discussing baby names, it was bothering me more than the thought of the birth yesterday! but we had a good chat last night and I think we've got a small enough shortlist now so it will be relatively easy to make a final decision when the baby arrives.

despite all the talk of things happening soon, I just have this nagging feeling in my head that it will still be 5 more weeks before I meet my baby. I can't shake the instictive feeling that I will go overdue, its so confusing not knowing when things will happen!

I hope your final day goes well sheildbug, and I hope everyone enjoys the cakes

lilmissmummy · 16/09/2010 10:30

Hi All
I have been AWOL this week as I am having a friend week. So everyday this week one of the dc is allowed a friend home for tea as after this week we are having no friends home until after the baby is born.

IT IS KILLING ME - it was the most rubbish idea ever. The dc are having a lovely time, but I am struggling. The house is discraceful, I am exhausted and the dc are over excited!! Oh well I have ds friend for tea tonight and dd friend for tea tomorrow so nearly there. I have had 5 friends already this week.

Also I have really bad heartburn - anyone else suffering? I am eating Rennies and drinking Gaviston but just made a doctors appointment for Monday afternoon. Hairy baby?? Gorilla?

KSal sorry to hear you are in hospital poor you, hope the week goes fairly quickly and that you get loads of visitors!

Moonstorm Loving the advice and Dilly loving the exercises. Please keep them coming!

Nymph glad it is not as bad as you feared and hope you feel brighter soon.

Nymph, Fingon and to all others feeling lonely -I am feeling lonely too and I cried this morning when DH went to work because I was on my own. Also my mum and sister are in America and my Dad and dh are really busy at work so I have no one to talk to :(

dontstopme, SamB and any others of you with babies engaged - my ds was engaged for 8 weeks and he was still 2 weeks late. This one has been engaged since 31 weeks and the midwife doesnt think it is a problem however DD didnt engage til labour.

Elsa I am not organised either so todays task is to pack my hospital bag Blush as still havent done it (well I took the bag out of the loft and cleaned it out!) Thank you for the reminder Sophie

Hermya everytime I hear about the popemobile it makes me think of the ratmobile (does anyone remember Roland Rat? Hmm ) anyway I think the pope would prefer to be Batman than Roland Rat! :) glad it is not just me! :)

Bionic very impressed with the purchase of the monitor!! Might go to TKmax and have a look.

Quick update. Have refused to go back to the hospital except for my 36 week appointment which is on 29th and spoke to my midwife who promises to get me a physio appointment asap and has booked me in for an appointment at 24 weeks. YAY! progress (hopefully!)

Sorry if I have forgotten anyone. Hope you are all well and have a good day. I am going to have a cup of tea and then go for a lie down as hips are sore

Elsa123 · 16/09/2010 10:38

Feeling very housewifey..cleaning the kitchen with This Morning on in the background. I haven't seen it for years...

DillyDora · 16/09/2010 11:11

Just very quickly cos I have to run to a meeting Nymph keep posting, we'll keep you company. Hermya what a relief I have been feeling guilty all night for being bossy! There are lots of exercises for SPD - if you google pelvic girdle pain you should find them.

Elsa your spider sounds truly terrifying!

lilmiss I know you've seen the heartburn thread but also try the stretch up the door for heartburn - you want to keep creating space....

Gotta run, more name check later
lorra love
xx

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 11:23

lilmiss Are you CRAZY? house full of DC friends ? I'm suffering major heartburn/reflux too. Eating Tums & ice constantly.

elsa I'm background watching This Morning too. Like him but not her.

Spider people, I had great fun the other night while dh changed chairs constantly as there was a hge spider following him. I like spiders but realised my last three dh/ps have all been scared of them. Whats that about?

shieldbug · 16/09/2010 11:50

fingon I've heard that you shouldn't try raspberry leaf tea until 36 weeks (at least that's what it says on the packet I have). Apparently it's disgusting, but I've got another week to go before I brave it! The friend who gave it to me says she reckons it did help strengthen the muscles, so I'm definitely going to give it a go.

Everybody liked cakes, so that was good. Friends bought be a baby blanket and little cow toy from M and P and some treats for me (chutneys and jams), which was so lovely. I was really touched.

sam12 · 16/09/2010 13:34

Fingon my SIL was drinking raspberry tea by the bucket load and my nephew popped out in two hours!! So worked for her, though she also said it was disgusting.

Ksal Sorry about you having to stay in hospital- hope the time flies by and you have your baby in your arms before you know it.

Tired that is exciting- and having an energy burst and getting things organised are all signs Grin you might be the first.

Elsa I can't wait to be on maternity to watch This Morning Blush very sad I know! And I totally agree Nymph like him but not her.

Shield glad your cakes went down well and sounds like you got some lovely pressies.

Had mw appointment yesterday. All went well and baby is now 2/5 engaged. It was quite sad/scary though as my mw is now on her holidays and so won't see her till after the baby is born. So was sad because she has been brilliant and scared because that means the baby is coming soon!!

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 13:46

funny thread

sophieandbelly · 16/09/2010 13:58

i quiet liked the rasberry leaf tea last time, its ment to be one of the many things that help bring labour on as well as strenghten ur womb.
so i wont be chancing it this time no way i want to go into spontanious labour with a c-sect planned!

wow there r some spd victims on this thread, its hell isnt it, i have it but no where near as bad as last time, my main problem is i have torn a ligament on the right side of my tummy thats where all my pain is.

iam sure i have asked before but r there many of u that no the sex of the baby??
my mil is desperate for a grandson, shes driving me mad- he this he that aaaagghhhhhh

as i tell her repeatedly we will be over the moon with whatever we have. but she has other plans, she actually said other day she is 100% certian its a boy- so she must have taken me for a scan to find out without my knowledge then!! Angry

shieldbug · 16/09/2010 14:43

Meant to say...one month today to EDD!

Btw, anybody seen the latest about Jamie Oliver's boy....Buddy Bear Maurice Oliver!! Funnily enough, he hasn't nicked any of our planned names.

sophie can't believe your mil! I don't know the sex, but nobody minds what it will be. Ouch to your torn ligament- sounds nasty.

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 14:59

I don't know either. Dh & I alternate in our suspicians and are always opposite!

jennimoo · 16/09/2010 15:31

I'm trying to catch up. Iphone is at the phone hospital so have to wait til I can get on a proper computer!

In just a couple of days looks like loads of people have dates / are about to pop! tiredfeet sounds like not long to go for you!

I was supposed to be going for curry last night with thelast two from my antenatal class. One had a couple of days to go, the other a week and a half. Both went in to labour yesterday so I'm the last one! Out of the 5 of them 4 have been early, one a couple of days over, so to balance it out I reckon I'm going to go atleast 2 weeks over!

Had the birth pool delivered yesterday, which is kinda scary! Not going to put it up til after the weekend, as have visitors staying in the 'birthing room'! If I do go in to labour they know they are helping get the room sorted then being kicked out!

I'm really fed up today, as I am super-achy: could hardly get up the stairs last night and had really bad night :( I just hope I don't have another month to go!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 16/09/2010 15:38

Tyson- glad your appt was ok :)

Ksal- doh! I hope your friends keep you occupied, and that time flies for you.Hosp is never fun.

Nymph- that thread is funny :)

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 15:57

Jenni Shock at being without iPhone. I can't be parted from mine!

Anyone know if chips give you heartburn? Fancy chip shop for tea but dont want the heartburn/reflux I've had all day.

tiredfeet · 16/09/2010 16:26

jennimoo sadly I don't think it will be happening soon, pains seem to have died down again. I suspect my baby is just an annoying one thats going to keep me on my toes with loads of false alarms! That said, its been quite helpful in giving me the jolt I needed to get properly organised and unpack all the baby stuff and pack my hospital bags,I think otherwise I would have been complacently assuming that nothing would happen until well after my due date. It must be strange for you if all the rest of your antenatal class have popped now. Although frustrating too I guess when you could still have a while to wait before you join them. I read somewhere though that newborn babies can help encourage labour to begin - a good excuse for lots of cuddles with them!

seashells I'm sure people will be happy to help even though you are fairly new. and I guess they would only need to cover for a couple of hours until your mum could get there?

lilmiss wow that is brave having a friends week, but I bet your dc really appreciate it! and hopefully it means that in the weeks to come their friends will reciprocate the invite which could be a big help Smile

sophie yes its so funny when people say they are absolutely sure it will be one gender! but I can see it must stop being funny if she goes on and on about it. Don't know what to suggest, although it might help to point out that it is the mans 'contribution' that determines whether they are a boy or a girl, so its nothing to do with you Grin

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 16/09/2010 16:42

Nursery are ok, it's just the middle of the night- I hate imposing on people anyway and phoning someone at 2am makes my British reserve cringe!

Hermya321 · 16/09/2010 16:43

Lilmiss You are very very brave, I hope in the years to come your DC's reward you with lashings of chocolate. I'm glad I wasn't the only one giggling at the thought of the pope shouting to his cardinals, 'to the popemobile!!' and rushing down a hallway with his robe things flapping behind him.

Sophie Oh my gosh, thats not long at all is it. We'll have real live babies from our thread in the next two weeks. That is a tad scary.

Nymph I'm sorry you're feeling lonely, if you ever want a visit gimmie a shout. Also chips, I'm pretty sure they're a cure Wink.

Dilly Don't feel guilty at all, I'm not really one to take offence. Life is too short and there is cake to be eaten.

Shield Can you imagine if that lad becomes a solictor. 'Hello I'm Buddy Bear Oliver', I wonder how many would take him seriously.

Flingon Come a week Monday, I'm going to get some of the tablets and take them. I mean it can't do any harm can it.

I'm off out for a curry tonight, I really hope I'm not tempting fate. But I should be ok with a Korma. Also work was ok today, had to talk to some quite frankly bizare people. Oh well, it takes all types doesn't it.

tiredfeet · 16/09/2010 17:09

Hermya funny you should mention that - it has reminded me that my dad knew a lawyer (can't remember whether barrister or solicitor) who was called Rupert and his surname was Bear!!

I'm trying to write my birth plan at the moment, its not going to be massively long and I'm trying to stay open minded, but I do want some things written down, as much to remind DH as anything I guess. It feels very hypothetical though, not like something thats actually really going to happen...

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 17:33

Dh home & been sent for chips. More news on the terrible thing and looking like a good thing ,certainly short term so Blush at all the worrying.
