Off work again today, I feel very rubbishy. I'm going to sit in my pj's and veg and then take a bath.

Elsa You had a 'Spikefriend', I'm so so jealous. Envy

Floozie I know it's better that he's still in there, but I am looking forward to having my own body back.

Nymph I hope you don't get stuck.

moonstorm · 15/09/2010 09:32

Floozie Yes I did pick the tip up from special care!! I have been taking note of the period pains and have a midwife appointment this morning where I'm going to mention it. I thought that as long as they stopped/ weren't regular/ didn't last more than 30 seconds they were ok... Hmm good point - you have made me wonder. Glad I've got the appointment now otherwise I'd be phoning someone. And glad also that your post was nearly as long as mine Grin

Elsa quite jealous of your shopping - I have so much from last time that I haven?t needed to buy much. Maybe that?s why I packed my bags so early!

Just sitting on the settee so far. Midwife appointment at 11. Ds is at nursery. But I have builders and a decorator in ? talk about timing!! I have never had a decorator in before and feel like I?m cheating a bit as I?ve always done it myself (dh is not so practical, which is good as I am and I love it!), but it?s to do the small toilet and there would have been too much climbing etc. for me to do it safely myself (a couple of months ago!) and we just want it done before the baby?s born. They are supposed to all get done by tomorrow. I can just see my waters breaking while the house is full of men? Shock

Elsa123 · 15/09/2010 10:08

Grin Moonstorm! I know what you mean about decorators, building our own house, we're loathe to get people in for such easy Hmm tasks, but there are times like yours when its a. sensible and b. very nice indeed! I hope they work to your standards!

The carpet fitters are in. Just making them tea at the moment, but I am not going to offer them one of the choc chip cookies I made last night...they're all mine. Of course any one of you may have one.....Smile. They are doing the stairs, except they've come without enough stairrods Angry.

Hermya Don't be too envious, he's an ex-boyfriend for a reason!! Very funny, but a steeotypical comedian, very prone to black moods and arguments. Give me a consistent person anyday!

nymphadora · 15/09/2010 10:13

Elsa- I won't be tooEnvy then!

I didn't get stuck!!!

I have hospital this afternoon, started worrying about parking already Blush am getting obsessed but it does give me an incentive to paralell park in some tight spaces!

moonstorm · 15/09/2010 12:54

Floozie If/ when I get more period cramps, I've got to ring the labour ward Shock Shock . The midwife said because of my previous prem birth, they've got to kep an eye on it. I also have to make sure to mention the strepb and the fact that I've had a cs. And they'll probably want me to come in Shock. Thanks for mentioning it.

Trying to decide whether to go to b and q now, or to relax before later (I don't think ds will go to sleep early as there is so much disruption in the house...)

KSal · 15/09/2010 13:02

Hi all. things have moved on a bit for me so thought i would post as well as read for a change!

i have been admittd to hospital with pre eclampsia and excess amniotic fluid and will be here til the baby is born. they want to deliver at 37weeks which is a week today. if the baby hasn't engaged by then it will be a c section. that seems the most likely outcome because the excess fluid means its happily swimming free at the moment!

really not what i was hoping for. also its my little girls birthday tomorrow so timing is a bit crap. sorry for the moan. i guess the positive thing is i am in the best place and i will be meeting my little one soon.

good thing i had my bags all packed ready Wink

floozietoozie · 15/09/2010 13:08

Moonstorm - relax! No shopping unless it's online.

Well, DS has done his first morning at nursery. We took him in and I wasn't sure if we'd be staying for a bit, but once I'd showed his one-to-one helper how to take off and put on his splints, we seemed to be expected to leave, so we did. DS had asked if I was staying with him, so I felt quite apprehensive, but he was happy when he went in. I could see he was getting a bit wobbly as we left, and sure enough when we picked him up they said he did cry quite badly for about 10 minutes Sad Sad but then he was fine, and was very chatty by the sounds of it, so that was good. I'm guessing he may be a bit more difficult tomorrow morning now he realises he's staying on his own but you never know. I came home and didn't rest at all, so now feel knackered but I did sleep much much better last night. hope all of you did too.

Hermya (((hugs))) at feeling rotten again. Hope the rest does you good. When are you supposed to be finishing work? Any chance you can bring it forward? You're only a few days ahead of me I think so I'm guessing you might still have quite a while to go before mat leave. I do understand about wanting your body back totally, especially as you've had such probs with SPD for so long - I've found just a week or so of it wearing.

DillyDora · 15/09/2010 13:13

Blimey KSAL quelle drame and all that. Sorry to hear this news and hope you have a whole stack of good books if you've got to be sat there for a week. Have you got plenty of people to bring in supplies? Big hugs, lovely.

Well done to DS floozie (also excited about potential homebirth!)

Hermya careful in the bath with the SPD (and you Nymph) I found that although it felt lovely I couldn't get out and DH had to lift me out - awful.

Tyson86 · 15/09/2010 14:53

ksal sorry to hear what you are oing through, hope everything goes well at 37 weeks, not long now!

floozie well done to your ds, sorry he cried, mine is still at playgroup but will be leaving to pick him up soon.

moonstorm Hope you are ok and get no more cramps

My appointment went well, thanks for all the good luck wishes, they def worked! I dont need an early induction and baby is only slightly small but healthy. I have another appointment for scan with my nice consultant in 2 weeks today.

Apparently baby is engaged/engaging? Does this mean it may be this side of 40 weeks??

BionicEar · 15/09/2010 14:55

Hello ladies!

Well although I was in a big grump yesterday today am feeling more perky despite having woken at 4am and being unable to go back to sleep.

One of my friends dragged me along to a Mums/Baby/Toddler group this morning to reassure me that it wouldn't be as scary as it was when I went with my DD when she was a little un. Grin And do you know what - it was lovely all the Mums were really friendly and chatty. So will make a return trip once I have baby in tow.

Was shattered by time I got home though and fell asleep on the sofa with one of the cats (we have 2) and only woke up at 2pm so feel a bit more with it now. Cat was a bit disgruntled when I decided to get up though as he was enjoying his nice long snooze with me! Grin

Ooh I nearly forgot to say we brought a baby video monitor yesterday after weeks of umming and aahing as found what looks like a good one in the local branch of T K Max. It's a 1st Safety one with night vision. Tested it out last night on DD and it works a treat. So all kitted out on the spying front - bet Elsa will have all the latest proper spying gadgets though for her little un being a proper spy and all that!! Tee hee! Wink

KSal sorry to hear you've got to stay in hossy until little un is born. Hope you don't get too bored and have a good supply of books/mags and visitors. Feel for you having to miss your little girl B'day as I would be upset too. Am guessing you got access to the net in hossy so at least you'll still be kept entertained by us lot hobbling/waddling around on the outside!

Dilly - glad the cot fitted - phew! Had vision of you making your DH saw the bits off the ends to make it fit to avoid you going all hormonal on him! Grin

Ah the bath... you'll laugh at this those of you getting into it when you hear this. My DD persuaded me to have a bath with her the other day, so clambered in and we almost flooded bathroom as result, due to water level shooting over end of bath once I sat down with my bump! Blush Grin Still at least it gave the cats a wash (they followed us in to watch!) Only complaint about my bath it doesn't seem to be deep enough to cover my bump!

Have noticed over last couple of days my fingers getting sore, so has to reluctantly take my wedding ring off as it was hurting. Might see how long it takes DH and DD to notice - my money on DD to spot it 1st as she tends to be more observant.

Ooh I'm rambling again and have just realised the time - must dash or I'll be late to pick DD up from school. Did have to snigger yesterday as she was sent home with 1st writing homework to write the end of a story tale - her answer was "The End"! Grin

And on that note I'm off.

Ivytheterrible · 15/09/2010 15:05

Blimey KSal a baby in just one week... eeekkk

Just had my 36 wk appointment - still measuring small so I'm off to see a consultant at the hospital on Friday morning. Am hoping it's all OK and won't wreck my homebirth plans. On the positive side I think the baby is telling me it is fine as has been very active all this morning!

floozietoozie · 15/09/2010 15:37

X-posted earlier KSal sorry you are in hosp and will miss dd's birthday but I hope you get lots of rest before the big day. So unless we get any surprises it looks like you will be first!

Bionic glad you are having a better day. My left pelvis was really sore so I'm now sitting on my bed with tea and chocolate resting. Have been stood up for stupid amounts of time today. I think I can hear dp taking ds to the toilet -result! Will attempt to take him out again after, think he's had his telly fix now.

SamanthaB123 · 15/09/2010 16:32

Hello Everyone, I am still here and reading but working and too tired to post.

KSal Sorry to hear that you are stuck in hospital, I was in with DD1 for a week prior to delivery and was bored and lonely. Lousy to be there for DD's birthday too. You'll have to get DH to bring you lots of books, magazines and yummy food to keep you going. At least the end is in sight, in a week's time you'll have your baby which is fab. As a thought, I can only sit on a birthing ball and so have been using one at work for hours each day. My baby is engaged - possibly as a result. It might be worth getting one in hospital with you and seeing if it makes any difference.

I'm not doing a very good name check again sorry. If it makes any difference coming home from school and reading all your news is keeping me sane at the moment. I have stayed at home today as I've been getting more and more tired and just couldn't face going in. I've had a lovely day just doing very little and snoozing. I think that the baby is lower than she was on Friday when she was 2/5 palpable so am hopeful that she is fully engaged now. I know I'm a bit of an eejit and possibly setting myself up to look stupid, but I really feel like my baby will be born soon. She is low and I have been woken up by uncomfortable contractions for the last two nights. Only a couple each time but enough to remind me what labour feels like. Ouch. My cyst is still causing the same pain as before and am due to see the consultant on Tuesday. I am aiming to come away with a date for induction should I not go into labour naturally. They were talking about 36 weeks but I'd like to hold off until 38 if I can. At the moment I am just managing the pain it never goes away. On the whole though I still feel optimistic and am starting to think how much I will miss my lovely bump! Maternity leave due to start in two weeks, 35 weeks today.

Hermya321 · 15/09/2010 17:23

Ksal I wonder if you'll be the first one to deliver then? But oh my gosh, baby in a week that must feel so odd knowing that.

My ribs are so so sore, stupid rib float! Apart from that I'm feeling a bit better, have spent the majority of the day laying on the sofa and occasionally napping. I'm hoping to go back into work tomorrow (I know I should be taking it easy) but it's actually my 'Hermya is getting fat and pregnant' party and I'm not missing that one for anything.

nymphadora · 15/09/2010 17:53

ksal Scary but at leaset you're in the right place and the end is in sight. :( at missing dds birthday.

tyson don't get your hopes up on the engaging. Friend was engaged at 38 weeks and had a section at 42!

bionic I did the overflowing bath too Blush

hospital trip on the other hand baby is 3/5 locked in which was pretty good considering I had the band on pushing them up. On the minus side neither of the others engaged even that much so I'm now worried about going into labour!

Elsa123 · 15/09/2010 19:38

Evening everyone- my internet hasn't been working most of the day. Ksal that must be quite a shock for you- I don't know what I'd do with myself if I suddenly had a week to go- I MUST pack the bags!!! Good luck and I hope you're feeling ok with the Pre-E.

Hermya ouch about your ribs. My baby seems to have given up getting under the ribs and has settled for over them which has its exceptionally uncomfortable moments too.

I'm with you all on the bath/water displacement thang! Its really annoying me that my bump isn't covered by the water!

dontstopmenow · 15/09/2010 20:27

Oh dear KSal, its not good being in hospital, i've been in twice now with high blood pressure and it is sooo boring. They can't make up their minds with me what they are going to do with me, so I am going to try and force their decision on friday when I go it. It is very disruptive to other members of family when you get admitted and its nice to say definately what is happening. At least it sounds like they have a plan in mind for you.

My bump seems to be 3/5 engaged now according to the midwife this morning. But it seems that is no indication that i will be going into labour any time soon. I just want it to get on with it now! Am 37+3 today. Fed up with everything being swollen and spd aches also. Ho hum!

Thanks all for keeping me sane - I do check messages every day even though I don't post often! :)

DillyDora · 15/09/2010 20:59

Hi all and well done to engaged bumps Wink

Hermya my lovely, up off that sofa please - there are some exercises you can do to help with rib flare and you just know it will be me being a sargeant major about physio cos I know how much it helps - can you sit cross legged? (you can with SPD if it doesn't hurt and your knees are no further apart than the length of your thigh bone (!)) so, either cross legged or sitting up nice and straight somehow you can raise your arm and reach up as high as you can and gently (very) over to one side to create more space - breathe into the stretch if you can. If you really can't sit try it standing - reach up a door or whatever. Just gently do it a couple of times a day to create more space. And now, to show solidarity I'm going to do my exercises....

xxx

Elsa123 · 15/09/2010 21:50

I just did that exercise! Thanks Dilly although its not my ribs that are the issue, its the baby that feels like its trying to claw its way out of my lower abdomen!

There is a spider in my kitchen. Its so big that I heard it scuttling across the floor. Apparently they only break cover when they're desperate to find a mate. I don't like ones I can actually hear walking!

tiredfeet · 15/09/2010 23:12

loving the tale of the overflowing bath bionic !

Ksal I hope its not too hard being away from your daughter, especially on her birthday. But it will be worth it for her in the long run when she gets to be a big sisterr!

floozie well done on ds's first day at nursery. I'm sure its harder for you than it is for him.

I've been getting some mild period type pain in my back on and off for 24 hours now, spoke to a midwife as I'm still a few days short of 37 weeks, but they said if something is starting to happen it should all be fine, which is what I suspected but I didn't want to just assume! That said, I reckon its the baby just trying to wind us up a bit and I'm still standing by my prediction of going two weeks over!

tyson I'm really pleased your appointment went well, it must be a big relief

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 05:27

Was getting contractions all throughGrand Designs last night, assumed they were BH but did get worried at realising they were regularly 10 mins apart. Baby was getting really narky after each one though. After I went to bed they stopped.

Those of you who remember my ' terrible thing' worries it should be over by the time the baby comes. Good in some ways not in others. Am v much feeling it's not as terrible as I expected though. Can't be more specific atm but will update when I can.

Hermya321 · 16/09/2010 07:32

Dilly Yes Sgt Dilly Sir!!! I did those excsercises and I did feel a lot better. I actually slept for six hours straight last night as well, it was such such bliss.

Nymph I'm glad that your situation should be much improved by the time your LO arrives on scene, I know how much that was concerning you.

Tired Oooooo how exciting!

I feel so much better this morning, headache gone and I didn't hobble at all this morning getting out of bed. I actually feel quite good.

I've been watching the news this morning and they're going on about the Popes visit to Edinburgh. Is anyone else slightly amused that his vehicle is called the 'Popemobile', everytime I hear that word I think of the 'Batmobile'.

sophieandbelly · 16/09/2010 08:02

hi ladies! wow so close now! seems like only yesterday we were talking baby bumps and morning sickness!

iam having an elcs on 29th sept, but my dd is 10th oct. i have been dipping in and out reading all ur posts.

it feels very strange to think i will be in hospital with my baby in 1 week 6 days! that feels odd to be less than 2 weeks away! i swing between anxious fear and excitement at meating dc.

did any watch 'cherrys having a baby' the other night, how she was feeling was exactly how i felt with dd.

i am busing myself with tidying sock draw and shoe cupboard and decided want kitchen painted!(much to dps dismay) all these things that 'just have to be done b4 baby arrives!!!'
has anyone else a strange list to tick of in next few weeks?

we also have dd bday party this weekend.

r all ur hospital bags packed and ready?? iam feeling i mayb missing one extra white cardi so off to mothercare in bit to get one. then last dr appointment, got pre-op appointment next weds, where they go through what will happen in c-sec etc, no doubt i will cry when i leave!! Smile

nymphadora · 16/09/2010 08:25

Sophie not long then!

Been crying again this morning! Everything is getting to me now, some baby stuff & some other stuff but main problem seems to be the being on my own all day & getting more immobile. Missing friend(we were textibg constantly) who is v occupied with her new baby but visiting at the weekend so that will be nice!

FingonTheValiant · 16/09/2010 08:36

Tyson, really glad your appointment went well yesterday - that's great news!

Ksal sorry to hear you're stuck in hospital. Do you have plenty of things to keep you entertained?

I could so have done without reading about your spider Elsa, I'm so bloody terrified of the things that I made dh do a quick once over of the house before he left because of that! lol. Have you seen the Phil Jupitus sketch about them it's spot on for people like me. (It's in several parts if you have some time to kill).

Sorry to hear you're still suffering Hermya, I hope Dilly's exercises helped!

Nymph glad your contractions subsided; are you still on alert though?

Tiredfeet that's so exciting, have you got all your protocols established just in case? I'm dreading anything happening early, I wouldn't have a clue what to do! And yet, I'm oddly jealous of all the people with engaged babies!

1 week and 6 days is so exciting Sophie, sounds like you've got loads to do in that time though. I told dh I wanted to repaint before the baby comes oh well... Good luck with getting it all done!

37 weeks on Monday, starting to get all fluttery and nervous!. My doula has banned me from having the baby until 39 weeks though, as she is going on holiday at week 38, and doesn't want her stand in to have all the fun :)

Has anyone tried raspberry leaf tea/tablets? Apparently it makes contractions more efficient, I'm trying to decide whether to give it a go.

Have a lovely day all :)
