floozie really quickly re yoga - tell the teacher you have SPD, also pregnancy yoga is v gentle. Will be really good for breathing etc.

Gotta run - DH has made breakfast Grin more later
xx

DillyDora · 11/09/2010 10:47

Right, lovely breakfast, hello again. Really sorry about all the sadness floozie Sad but glad you found a gorgeous dress, those Therapy dresses are so soft, that's part of what I love about them (being a comfort bunny).

Ok beeeeeeeeeeeg moan coming - can I just say SPD absolutely sucks and I am fed up with it. It's started to get a lot worse and DH had to help me into bed last night and I just lay there sobbing, then of course follows a very uncomfy night with broken sleep so not exactly up for coping with pain the next day (which is what the physio said would happen...) so AAAAAAAAARGH! Even my shoulders/neck hurt, presumably something to do with my lower back. Bah.

Nymph I have that thing on the right side too! Most uncomfy.

Seashells 37 weeks, I cannot tell you how jealous I am! 34+2 (nearly the same as you Nymph)I keep telling Toby he is welcome to put in an appearance on Oct 9th (the day after I start mat leave)!

Hermya321 · 11/09/2010 11:00

Abfab How exciting about the homebirth!

Seashells 'bing' you're done!!

Floozie How horrid, I am sorry that you seem to be getting a lot of bad news. With regards to your DS, I reckon he'll cope better than you think. After all, he's going to have a small person who he can boss around and blame things on. Not to say that your fears aren't justified though and I hope that he surprises you. Have you thought about getting him a present from the baby? I've seen that idea suggested before.

I kept waking with my ribs last night, I feel like an old woman. First with the hips, then with the ribs and sore tummy. I am slowly falling apart, I keep saying to the bump 'anytime is good for me you know'. One of the things that I'm going to do after I have this baby (and recover from that) is to find an open space and do cartwheels.

I also heard about a couple of my friends who've given birth in the past week, one was in the latent phase of labour for three days and the other had two failed inductions before a c-section. To cap it all off, one of them stole a name off of our name list. I didn't tell her my names, so she came up with them on her own but dammnit that was my name! Nymph I know how you felt now.

Tyson86 · 11/09/2010 11:16

Ivy You sound similar to my situation but my baby hasnt grown at all since 28 weeks so hopefully your baby is ok. Im sure the mw will refer you to a consultant at your 36 week check up if she is concerned, tell her that you are worried.

Tyson86 · 11/09/2010 11:29

Floozie my ds was 6lb 6oz, so he was small, dh was 7lb something and i was 7lb something. They were not very informative with reasons and i had a scan but consultant didnt mention anything to do with placenta which i thought was odd. Weds seems so far away! I have packed my hospital bag properly as not sure if im going to be coming home weds or if they will keep me in till im 37 weeks. So scared cos all ive ever heard is inductions hurt more and ds hurt me enough and he was a normal delivery!
Going to read through all the posts properly now and chill x

36+1 weeks

nymphadora · 11/09/2010 15:19

Survived dd2s party! Not even aching too much. Was pictures & pizza hut but still thought I'd be sore judging by last couple of days. Didn't fit in toilet in pizza hut though (even not including crutches) so had to use disabled!

DillyDora · 11/09/2010 15:53

floozie on the subject of DS, I don't know but maybe it will be good for him to be the 'Big Boy' for the first time he's more able than his sibling and knows how to do lots of things which the baby doesn't so he could end up in a nice position of responsibility to his new sib. He has CP doesn't he? So cognitively no problems? Am I remembering right? My DSS have autism & ADHD and are much older but the more autistic of the two told his papa he was worried I would pay him less attention when the baby was born so we said, actually I'd really be glad to see him and talk to him because the baby wouldn't do much, and wouldn't be talking and I'd be off work so might be a bit lonely for someone to chat to so we were able to reassure him like that, I know it's different because they're older (10, but read 8 because of their difficulties) but I think you can spin it so that sibs feel proud of how they can help their new brothers and sisters, whatever their abilities/limitations. We've involved my DSS for as long as we can in the process, though we don't see them much - only a couple of weekends a month if that, and they always ask 'how's Toby? ' and give me tummy rubs - very cute.

Sozzer, long post...I'm a bit freaked out. Just spoke to DH, he went up to see the boys and it looks like his ex may have an aortic aneurysm - yikes. Hopefully it will be small enough to repair with surgery now, or smaller than that and just a question of monitoring it. Now, I have never liked this woman and she has been nothing but vile to Dh but wow, she has a lot of bad luck. So, she might be having that op just as LO is wanting to be born - it's all go! Just hope she doesn't die, don't want my DSS to lose their Mum!!!!!!

DillyDora · 11/09/2010 16:07

On a lighter note I wanted to propose our own Pregnancy Olympics! Suggested events include:

  • Biggest Bump!
  • Biggest Feet!
  • Slowest Walk!
  • Fastest Walk!
  • Most trips to the loo in the night!
  • Most indigestion tablets consumed in one day!
  • Fastest Hospital Bag Pack!
  • Best Baby Clothes Folding!
  • Worst Memory!

Any others you think we should include?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 11/09/2010 18:30

Oh Dilly, I do hope your DSS mum will be okay!

How about Fattest Fingers as an olympic event?

Seashells v. jealous of your 37 week achievement. Me and floozie are the laggers I think. Am 33 weeks today.

Getting baby bag and my hospital bag packed. Am on Boots website buying last minute stuff for mum and dad to bring over next month. I'm also ordering the Cosatto Easi Peasi change station for them to bring - paying for the excess baggage still makes in cheaper than buying here. Has anyone got one already?

nymphadora · 11/09/2010 19:59

Ill enter these then Dilly!

  • Biggest Bump! TICK
  • Biggest Feet!
  • Slowest Walk!TICK
  • Fastest Walk!

DillyDora · 11/09/2010 20:25

I'm sure I'll take gold for Fattest Feet!

I like the sound of that changing station ILGH it sounds like it changes the baby for you!

AbFabT · 11/09/2010 21:20

Thanks for all the good wishes re my hopes for a homebirth. I've been looking at buying a pool, just got to hope it fits in the kitchen. And the midwife approves me/our home. I think it will be a real squeeze, but I'd much prefer to be at home. Oh to win the lottery quickly and move to a nice big house!

Dilly, best wishes to your DSS's mum.

I already had big hands before pregnancy - I think I'll win that one, unless we are only talking percentage increases! Also got fat feet - bought new trainers to accommodate them, up from my usual 5.5 to a 7!

DH is currently compiling a list of top tunes to make me happy and dancey during the birth, in an effort to help take my mind off any pain! He does great comic dancing too, so I think that will also help me!

Are babies supposed to quiet down by this stage, I've been a bit lazy today and it's struck me that my kid has been lazy as well.

In fact, he's been rather sluggish all day and all his movements seem rather slow and not as enthusiastic as normal.

I can't get this impending feeling of 'oh my gosh' out of the back of my head.

Hermya321 · 11/09/2010 21:53

Rang the midwife, I've had the ten movements today so she said everything should be ok but to keep an eye on the situation. She said he's probably having a quiet day.

nymphadora · 11/09/2010 21:54

hermya sort of, there should be the 10 movements but they won't be as wriggling as there isn't as much room. Prob more definate tho. May depend on position as when my baby faces inward I feel less obvious ones. If you are worried try the cold drink thing &/or get checked out.

Hermya321 · 11/09/2010 22:02

Nymph That might be it, he has been settling more and more into an anterior position of late so it's probably just that his movements have been towards the back.

jennimoo · 11/09/2010 22:10

AbFab - we're hiring a pool, only £80 with allthe hoses, pumps etc and we get to just send it back without worrying about sterilising, packing away after the birth.

Also you can book but not pay til you get the ok at 36 weeks ish ftom the mw I need to call and arrange delivery, as am 37 weeks on Tuesday!

In my area they aren't bothered about visiting your house or anything, and don't deliver any kit in advance. I just call the number when in labour, same as hospital birth, and they come out and bring all the stuff then!

It's all getting rather close isn't it? I feel a bit better as most of the work is done in our house as of the end of last week, kitchen and living room done in the last month!

Today we finished off in the nursery, shelves up and chest of drawers built, so I can get washing and putting away all the cute little sleep suits!

AbFabT · 11/09/2010 22:24

Thanks, jennimoo. Which one are you going for?
I'm 37 weeks on Monday!!! Got to wait til Thursday to get the OK from the home assessor midwife, but I am feeling really hopeful! :-) REALLY feels right, too, you know?

Who are you saying isn't bothered about visiting your house - the supplier, or the midwives? I've been told the midwives like to leave their kit in advance, and I would rather they check our home out so I know they are confident the space is ok - it really will be tight in the kitchen.

I am tempted to buy though, as you can get liners, and then dispose of them, and then you have the pool already for if you have a subsequent baby. Or, a play pool if not!

Glad you are feeling generally sorted with the house. We have a major blitz of packing away to do, just chucking surplus-to-requirements clothing and stuff in the loft, going to pretend we are minimalists!

OP posts:
jennimoo · 11/09/2010 22:41

We're just going for the smallest birth pool in a box. I know you can buy one for the same price as hiring, but by the time we'd bought or hired all the other bits we decided hiring was best for us.

The MW doesn't want to see the house first. I talked her through where we were planning on having the birth and about the pool and how much space and she was just super-laid back about it all and said it sounded fine. I asked if there was anything I needed to have, as have read loads of threads with mentions of different things like angle-poise lamps, but nothing required. And again I asked about bringing a pack and no need I'm told!

I'm sure that at least starting off at home is best for me, as I'll be more relaxed. I feel strongly that if possible I want to be away from the medicalised environment in the hospital, assuming all goes smoothly, but I will be straight to the hospital if need be, and am lucky we are only a few minutes away!

Anyway, I must stop going on about it and go to bed, as knackered! Good luck to everyone for a good nights sleep!

tiredfeet · 12/09/2010 00:43

hello all, think I'm in for a sleepless night :( its sort of my own fault though, I felt absolutely shattered this afternoon so went to bed and slept for hours.

I'm 36 weeks today! starting to feel very real now. wow to those who are 37 weeks or nearly there though! can't be long until the first arrivals now...

I haven't started packing my hospital bag yet, I have got as far as making the list, and have bought / got pretty much everything on it, but I keep stalling the actual packing. I think partly its still wanting to be in denial about the birth bit, and partly that pregnancy keeps making me have massive (hormonal?) drops in confidence and I have convinced myself I will get it all wrong when I try and pack it Confused Blush. DH has offered to help me though so hopefully I will make progress soon.

hermya hope your baby has a more lively day tomorrow. I know how much I was unable to relax when mine went a bit quiet.

Big hugs to everyone with worries or who is suffering from spd etc. Sorry I can't name check you all, my head is getting fuzzy now! I've finally started maternity leave now though so will probably be paying closer attention from now on!

moonstorm · 12/09/2010 06:25

I'm up early for breakfast... haven't been able to sleep for the last few hours and hungry now.,.. Hoping to go back and get some sleep! Will chack back in later.

Finally remembered to add my dates...

(35+3 according to scan, 34+5 according to me - will go with scan dates from now on!)

nymphadora · 12/09/2010 06:31

Weird question ( putting in pregnancy too) anyone had pain in their belly button? Been waking me up. Like lots of little needles.

DillyDora · 12/09/2010 10:24

Ow Nymph that sounds sore! Haven't had it myself...

Really excited for your homebirth AbFab what a result. \Seeing the mw tomorrow for 34 week check up which must include doing birth plan so...

The big news is that - woohoo - I actually had a pretty good night's sleep! Slept pretty well till 6am then propped myself up in a semi sitting position and slept till 8, then more! till 9! O happy day! Feel much chirpier of course. SPD kicks in between the legs when I move around but hey...I slept! Also, this will amuse - tried to ice my symphisis pubis joint as my yoga teach suggested by using frozen tubes of yoghurt...a most interesting experience. Rather chilly...hope it brought inflammation down - so SPD folks this is some fun you could be having!

have a lovely day all
xx

nymphadora · 12/09/2010 11:07

After a good day yesterday I'm suffering today. V v tired can't keep moving for long , working my way around house on series of chairs & sitting on stairs. Got out of the shower half way through for a rest too. Dh is at work & dd2 is out with my parents but I have to take dd1 to guide canoeing thing this pm but have told dh he has to be home or at least working at home when I get back as I'll need him to park the car.

Am getting so frustrated by the mess in the house. I can't carry stuff, avoiding stairs as much as poss and am exhausted most of the time. Had to send dh to tip with birthday rubbish & got him to do loads of carrying before work but the pressure is really on there too sp I can't ask too much of him. Kids are helping with washing & dishwasher but there's not much more I can ask of them either.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 12/09/2010 15:17

Had two hours broken sleep last night, too much pain in the side of my hips when lying down, just can't get comfy. Also, my 6 year old said "mummy is a pain in the arse" when I asked him to help me tidy up. I know I shouldn't get upset, but I cried! Sad I can't help thinking they all think that. I am being a pain! Boo hoo. Was up at 3am watching CSI.

Dilly, where did you put those tubes? I am agog!
